Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 Best Classes Ranked Quick Summary:

  • Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 has six classes built around damage, crowd control, defense, healing, and flexible hybrid roles.
  • Every class has two unique kit abilities, upgrade paths, perks, and signature weapons that shape how it plays.
  • Team composition matters more than stacking raw damage, especially when your squad needs healing, area control, and answers to tougher enemies.
  • Some classes are immediately effective, while others become much stronger once you understand their mechanics or unlock additional options.
  • Specialist offers the most build freedom, but its potential depends heavily on how much progress you have made with the other classes.

Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 Best Classes Overview

With 6 classes present in the newly released Aliens Fireteam Elite 2, it’s easy to face choice paralysis. If you’re struggling to pick what class to main, I’m here to help. I’ll overview all of the classes in this game and explain what each of them does, as well as rank them. I have to say outright, there’s no single best class in the game, as all of them target different problems and aim to solve them, but some are gonna be useful all the time, while others are pretty situational. Though you’ll be thankful for having them on your team when the situation where they’re useful arises. I’ll have a brief overview of each of the Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 classes below:

  • Duelist: DPS, good for single heavy targets
  • Marauder: Big guns to get rid of smaller threats
  • Machinist: Zone defender. Utilizes turrets. If you like tower-defense games, this one’s for you
  • Hunter: Crowd-control. Slows down the xenos and shoots their weak points for increased damage.
  • Medic: You won’t go far without one on your team
  • Specialist: Jack of all trades. Can use perks and abilities of all other classes, but you have to unlock and upgrade them first. Basically useless unless you upgrade other classes first.

Every class has 2 kit abilities that are only present on this class. Each of these abilities can further be upgraded and has its own separate skill branches. Moreover, now each class has its “signature” weapon. As you might’ve already guessed, Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 is a by-the-book sequel to its predecessor that develops all pre-existing mechanics.

Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 Classes Ranked

Now that you know all classes, I’ll have them ranked. Do note that, as I already said, they’re all useful, so the bottom class isn’t absolute trash; it just means that it’s less viable at all times. Treat this list below as a priority list of which classes are preferable to be in every match. Here are the Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 classes ranked:

  1. Medic: You can raise your teammates twice as fast, heal them with stim packs, and buff them with your drone. Without you, poorly operated groups will break down after the first serious encounter. Absolute necessity.
  2. Machinist: In a horde shooter, the ability to stand your ground can be irreplaceable. While you’re on a more situational side, you are the first line of defense when it comes to your team being attacked. You set up a turret and have a self-operating drone that flies around and covers you. Probably the best class for those who aren’t very good at shooters, but still want to be useful.
  3. Marauder: AFE2 is a tactical shooter, first and foremost, and what can be more tactical than explosive power that you operate? You can shoot rockets, push back the overwhelming waves, and explode on a whim. You also carry a rocket launcher and a napalm thrower. You’re a powerhouse that wipes the area clean. Or should I say, covered in acidic blood?
  4. Hunter: Tactical DPS, for lack of a better word. Your job is to form clusters of enemies for Marauder to blow them up with his rockets, but you’re not defenseless yourself. Your perks let you deal more damage to weak points, so your goal is to get rid of the tallest monster in the room.
  5. Duelist: Idk if it’s just me, but to me, Duelist seems to be the least useful class. It can dodge, it can shoot, it can shoot fast, it can shoot the fastest. It doesn’t do a whole lot, but it’s your typical John Marine character, perhaps for those who are new to these kinds of games. I’m not judging, though, but I think you’ll quickly switch from this character once you get used to the game’s flow.

You may notice that I ranked only five classes, and that’s because Specialist is a hard one. Specialist is simultaneously the best and the worst class to have. I mean, they can do it all, and I already see games where we have all 4 players running around as Specialists, with one kitted as a Medic/Machinist combo, another as a Duelist/Hunter, and so on. It’s hard to rank them, as they are like Schrödinger’s cat - they can be both great and bad, depending on what the player using them decided to bring into the match. Overall, I’m leaning towards the best class in Aliens Fireteam Elite 2, cause the combinations can create some truly powerful builds.

Titan Rockets - fire a shoulder rocket. One of the upgrades sets the enemies on fire, another lets you set mines instead of rockets.

Rampage - buffs up your fire rate, reload, and movement speed, while decreasing stability upon reaching 25 stacks

Reactive Charges - enemy melee attacks trigger a blast knocking back enemies close to you every 30 seconds

Combat Stims - heal or buff your allies, upgrades just change the buffs

Advanced Trauma Station - Buffs and heals or poisons the enemies, depending on the upgrade

Bedside Manner - pick up your downed allies 2x faster

Surgeon’s Hands - when interacting with anything, you can’t be knocked back

Heals, buffs, supports the group in every way

Specialist

L56A3 Smartgun

M41A2 Pulse Rifle

Abilities from other classes

Perks are taken from other classes

Can do it all, depending on what perks and abilities you put onto them

Each of the mentioned classes can deal decent damage on their own, and it’s not the case as in some other team shooters where supports are as good as dead when left unprotected. I suggest that you pick the class based on the playstyle you enjoy. I, for instance, like to be in the center of action and explode stuff, so I’m gonna be playing as a Marauder.

Best Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 Team Comps

Picking one strong class for yourself is good, and all, but Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 is still a co-op shooter, so team composition is much more important than your ego. You don’t need four damage dealers trying to top the scoreboard while nobody heals, controls space, or slows the swarm down. A good squad should usually have sustain, area control, crowd clear, and at least one class that can focus tougher targets.

Team Comp

Classes

Why It Works

Balanced Squad

Medic, Machinist, Marauder, Hunter

Best all-around setup. Medic keeps everyone alive, Machinist holds space, Marauder clears waves, and Hunter handles weak-point damage.

Safe Beginner Squad

Medic, Machinist, Marauder, Duelist

Easier to play because Duelist is straightforward, while Medic and Machinist cover mistakes.

Heavy Defense Squad

Medic, Machinist, Machinist/Specialist, Marauder

Great for missions where you need to hold ground and survive waves. Turrets and drones do a lot of the work.

Damage Squad

Medic, Marauder, Hunter, Duelist

Best when everyone can aim and move well. Very strong damage, but weaker if the team gets overwhelmed.

Specialist Squad

Medic, Machinist, Marauder, Specialist

Best once Specialist is upgraded. Specialist can copy missing tools and patch whatever the team lacks.

If you’re playing with randoms, Medic + Machinist are the base of the squad as they can fix mistakes randoms make due to lack of communication. Specialist is the hardest one to judge because it depends entirely on what the player unlocked and equipped. A good Specialist will try to fill missing squad roles and even perform as a fifth player, to a degree.

F.A.Q

What is the best class in Aliens Fireteam Elite 2?

Medic is the safest overall recommendation because healing, faster revives, and team buffs remain useful in virtually every mission. Specialist can potentially become even stronger once properly upgraded, but its effectiveness depends entirely on the abilities and perks you equip.

What are all the classes in Aliens Fireteam Elite 2?

There are six classes: Duelist, Marauder, Machinist, Hunter, Medic, and Specialist. Duelist focuses on straightforward weapon damage, Marauder specializes in heavy AoE, Machinist controls areas with machines, Hunter provides crowd control and weak-point damage, Medic supports the squad, and Specialist mixes tools from other classes.

What is the best class for beginners in Aliens Fireteam Elite 2?

Machinist is one of the easiest useful classes for beginners because its turret and Bodyguard drone provide extra damage without demanding perfect aim. Duelist is another straightforward option for players who prefer traditional shooter gameplay.

What is the best team composition in Aliens Fireteam Elite 2?

A balanced squad of Medic, Machinist, Marauder, and Hunter covers nearly every major need. Medic provides sustain, Machinist controls space, Marauder clears large groups, and Hunter slows enemies while dealing strong weak-point damage.

Which Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 class does the most damage?

Marauder is the strongest choice for clearing groups with rockets, explosions, and its flamethrower, while Duelist and Hunter specialize more heavily in direct or precision damage against individual targets.
