What Are Clubs in FC 27?

Clubs in FC 27 is the mode where you create a Virtual Pro, join a club, and play as one player in team matches. Instead of controlling the whole squad like in Ultimate Team or Career Mode, you control your own position. You have to adapt to what’s going on in your game, as there wouldn’t be a situation where everyone around you is playing only to serve you. Your average experience in this mode will look like this:

  • Create your Virtual Pro;
  • Choose an Archetype;
  • Join or create a Club;
  • Play matches with friends or other players;
  • Earn AXP and rewards;
  • Improve your build;
  • Climb Leagues and Playoffs.

Nothing changed much since FC 26 Clubs, but the mode has become more layered. It’s now tied to The Grounds, which acts like a shared football hub. But the basics remain here, and you can still jump into an exciting game of 11v11 and work on building your Pro to reap the best rewards in the future.

What Changed in FC 27 Clubs?

Back in FC 26, we already received a huge change by introducing Archetypes. That system changes how Virtual Pros develop. This idea stays in FC 27, but you’re more than welcome to experiment with it. I’ve gathered a list of the most important changes in FC 27 Clubs compared to its analog in the previous game:

Feature

What Changed

The Grounds

Clubs now lives inside EA’s new shared football world

Clubhouse

Your main Clubs hub inside The Grounds

Archetypes

All 13 are unlocked from the start

Resets

Archetype resets no longer cost coins or reset consumables

Individual Attribute Changes

You can adjust single attributes instead of wiping a whole build

Masteries

Leveling Archetypes gives permanent boosts to your Pro

Amps

Temporary limited-use boosts for active Archetypes

Live Tournaments

11v11 Club Tournaments join Leagues and Playoffs

Club Objectives

More shared goals for Clubs to complete together

Consumables

New focused AXP items help specific Archetypes or groups

You now have a reason to level several Archetypes because Masteries can improve your Virtual Pro across builds. That is the most important change for me. In FC 26, if you were a striker, you mostly cared about your striker build. In FC 27, a striker may still main Finisher, but leveling Magician or Target can also make sense now.

The Grounds and Clubhouse Explained

The Grounds is the new shared social space in FC 27. It supports up to 100 players in one football playground and includes a central Terrace plus three districts inspired by different football cultures. Here, you’re particularly interested in the Clubhouse, and you should understand why, judging by its name, lol.

The Clubhouse is where the Clubs experience lives. You can use it to access Clubs, connect with your Club, and move into the usual competitive structure. Leagues and Playoffs have not disappeared. They are just part of a larger world now. By browsing The Grounds section, you’ll also find the following in FC 27:

  • 11v11 Stadium access;
  • Rush Stadium access;
  • Small-sided matches;
  • 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 games;
  • Kickabouts;
  • Mentors;
  • Shops;
  • Objectives;
  • Seasonal content.

For me, it seems like nothing has changed much because I don’t really care where the mode lives now. I still care more about matchmaking, divisions, team shape, and how AI works this year. But the developers have decided to bring it all together, and now it looks like some kind of football MMO to me. I’m okay with that, and you?

FC 27 Archetypes

Archetypes are still here, and they’re the base of your Virtual Pro build. Depending on the Archetype chosen, you’ll see your player’s parameters changing. Starting from overall strengths to upgrade path and general identity. But the biggest change concerning how Archetypes work in FC 27 is that you have all 13 of them unlocked right away. Here’s a full table with all the roles in FC 27 this year:

Role

Archetypes

Goalkeeper

Shot Stopper, Sweeper Keeper

Defender

Progressor, Boss, Marauder

Defensive / Central Midfielder

Disruptor, Recycler

Midfielder / Creator

Maestro, Creator, Spark

Forward

Magician, Finisher, Target

One important detail: Engine from FC 26 does not appear in the FC 27 Archetype list we have now. Disruptor is the new defensive/central midfield-style Archetype listed for this year.

This is crucial in terms of what build you’ll choose later because copying an old build from FC 26 will no longer work. For FC 27, full-backs probably lean more toward Marauder, Progressor, or a pace-focused setup depending on what your squad needs.

FC 27 Masteries

Masteries are the best new progression idea in FC 27 Clubs. They reward you for leveling different Archetypes by giving permanent attribute boosts that apply across your Virtual Pro. Even if you switch builds, those Mastery boosts still matter. For example, leveling Finisher can improve finishing-related attributes for your Pro overall. That means your work on one Archetype can help another. Here are simple Mastery priorities by role in FC 27:

Main Position

Masteries Worth Chasing

ST

Finisher, Magician, Target

Winger

Spark, Magician, Finisher

CAM

Creator, Maestro, Magician

CM

Maestro, Recycler, Creator

CDM

Recycler, Disruptor, Boss

CB

Boss, Progressor, Disruptor

Full-Back

Marauder, Progressor, Recycler

GK

Shot Stopper, Sweeper Keeper

Start with your main position, then branch into one useful secondary Archetype. A striker can begin with Finisher, then work on Magician. A CDM can start with Recycler, then add Disruptor. A CB can start with Boss, then work on Progressor.

Tip: Don’t try to level everything at once. This sounds efficient only in theory, but you’ll struggle to do that in practice.

FC 27 Amps

Amps are temporary boosts you equip to an active Archetype. They last for a limited number of matches, then expire. There are four Amp tiers in FC 27:

Tier

Type

What It Adds

Tier 1

Standard Amp

Attribute boosts

Tier 2

Standard Amp

Stronger attribute boosts

Tier 3

Signature Amp

Attributes, PlayStyles, and perks

Tier 4

Signature Amp

Attributes, PlayStyles+, and perks

You can equip up to three Amps at the same time:

  • two Standard Amps;
  • one Signature Amp.

My personal tip here is that you want to save the best Amps for important matches. I’m talking about Playoffs, Live Tournaments, promotion matches, and so on. Don’t waste it on a match where half your club is offline or playing from their kitchen Wi-Fi, lol.

How to Level Up Your Virtual Pro in FC 27

Your Virtual Pro levels mostly through Archetype XP, also called AXP. You earn it by playing matches and activities, then use progression to unlock things like Attribute Points, perks, card upgrades, and Masteries. I’d say that your Virtual Pro leveling path in EA FC 27 looks like this:

  1. Pick your main role.
  2. Choose the Archetype that fits that role.
  3. Level it until your build is strong enough.
  4. Start focusing on one secondary Mastery path.
  5. Use AXP Consumables on Archetypes you don’t play often.
  6. Save strong Amps for serious matches.

For example, if you play CAM, I would start with Creator or Maestro. Once you’re done, I’d consider Magician or Spark depending on whether I need better acceleration, dribbling, or final-third movement. Don’t level random Archetypes just because they exist. Level the ones that support your actual builds and how you play the mode.

Best FC 27 Clubs Archetypes by Position

This section of the guide is based on what the Archetypes are built to do. Don’t treat it like the final meta after every patch. Check out the best FC 27 Clubs Archetypes by position so far:

Position

Best Archetype

Good Alternative

Description

ST

Finisher

Target / Magician

Best for goals, box movement, finishing

Winger

Spark

Magician

Best for pace, dribbling, wide creation

CAM

Creator

Maestro / Magician

Best for final passes and chance creation

CM

Maestro

Recycler / Creator

Best for control, passing, tempo

CDM

Recycler

Disruptor

Best for interceptions and safe passing

CB

Boss

Progressor

Best for strength, duels, defensive presence

Full-Back

Marauder

Progressor / Recycler

Best for pace, tackling, recovery runs

GK

Shot Stopper

Sweeper Keeper

Best for reliable saves and reactions

Always see if your current build fits your team. When your club has 8-11 players, you can specialize more. But if your club has only a few human players, you’d want to go for a safer build. Or your CAM or Winger, together with AI defenders, would create a lot of bad situations for you on the pitch.

Best FC 27 Clubs Builds

Your Clubs setup is way more than raw stats. It consists of the chosen Archetype, PlayStyles, the right Attribute upgrades, and so on. But I’m not gonna give you advice on exact height, weight, and every Attribute Point here. Those best FC 27 Clubs builds you’ll see are just my vision of the current meta in the game for each position. You’re free to take what I suggest or experiment and see how it goes for you.

Best FC 27 Clubs Striker Build (ST)

As a Striker, your main task is to score goals and keep your opponent’s defenders busy. I’ve specifically chosen the best Archetype for this, and a possible alternative if you wish to experiment. Check out the best FC 27 Clubs Striker build so far:

  • Position: ST
  • Archetype: Finisher
  • Alternative: Target or Magician
  • Profile: Quick Finisher or Physical Striker
  • Preferred Foot: Right or Left, it only depends on your own choice
  • Prioritize: Finishing, Composure, Acceleration, Positioning, Shot Power
  • Useful PlayStyles: Finesse Shot, First Touch, Power Shot, Aerial if tall

This setup is perfect for a complete Striker. You’ll be quite fast to break the strongest defenses. I personally love Finisher here, but going for Magician is also a good alternative if you’re into dribbling.

Best FC 27 Clubs Winger Build (LM/RM & LW/RW)

Winger’s role is to stretch the pitch and create scoring opportunities for your Strikers. This can be made easier with the right Archetypes. I’ve also found an alternative for you to try out, but try to run the main Archetype first. See the best FC 27 Clubs Winger build:

  • Position: LW, RW, LM, RM
  • Archetype: Spark
  • Alternative: Magician
  • Profile: Fast Wide Creator
  • Preferred Foot: Right or Left, choose whichever you like more
  • Prioritize: Acceleration, Sprint Speed, Dribbling, Crossing, Stamina
  • Useful PlayStyles: Rapid, Quick Step, Technical, Whipped Pass

I strongly recommend Spark as your Archetype for this build for extra control on the pitch. But going for Magician might work again in terms of dribbling. This will help you stretch the field further, cut inside, and create chances.

Best FC 27 Clubs Attacking Midfielder Build (CAM/LAM/RAM)

Attacking Midfielders are a kind of connecting chain between midfield and strikers. I consider this position to be the brain of my Clubs team. You can decide if the ball goes wide, through the striker, or back to midfield. Look at the best FC 27 Clubs Attacking Midfielder build:

  • Position: CAM, LAM, RAM
  • Archetype: Creator
  • Alternative: Maestro or Magician
  • Profile: Chance Creator
  • Preferred Foot: Right or Left, go for which one you prefer
  • Prioritize: Vision, Short Passing, Ball Control, Reactions, Finishing
  • Useful PlayStyles: Incisive Pass, Tiki Taka, First Touch, Technical

Creator is the obvious and best Archetype pick here. Maestro is only worthy trying if you’re into more tempo and control. Magician is once again good for dribbling, but that’s not the priority for this position.

Best FC 27 Clubs Defensive Midfielder Build (CDM/LDM/RDM)

Defensive Midfielders are your shield in front of the defense. They can help you break up your opponent’s plays and control the midfield. They’re key to intercepting passes and act like an anchor for your team. Here’s the best FC 27 Clubs Defensive Midfielder build:

  • Position: CDM, LDM, RDM
  • Archetype: Recycler
  • Alternative: Disruptor
  • Profile: Defensive Screen
  • Preferred Foot: Right or Left, anything works
  • Prioritize: Interceptions, Stamina, Defensive Awareness, Short Passing, Strength
  • Useful PlayStyles: Intercept, Anticipate, Press Proven, Long Ball Pass

Recycler will help you win the ball and keep it away. But you can go for the Disruptor alternative for a more aggressive pressing CDM. That’s not what I expect from this position, but no one forbids you from experimenting here.

Best FC 27 Clubs Center-Back Build (CB)

Center-Backs are your key defense. It’s important to be able to take care of aerial threats and stop them from getting to your goals. You also want to win one-on-one duels and stay working when bullied by taller Strikers. See the best FC 27 Clubs Center-Back build:

  • Position: CB
  • Archetype: Boss
  • Alternative: Progressor
  • Profile: Physical Defender
  • Preferred Foot: Right or Left, pick anything you like
  • Prioritize: Strength, Aggression, Defensive Awareness, Standing Tackle, Jumping
  • Useful PlayStyles: Aerial, Bruiser, Intercept, Block

Boss is good for interception and winning duels. Go for Progressor only if your Club likes playing out from the back. But your first task is defense.

Best FC 27 Clubs Full-Back Build (LB/RB/LWB/RWB)

Full-Back is by far the most challenging role in the game, it seems to me. They’re your main role against Wingers and keep stamina for 90 minutes. You’ll also recover counters and support attacks. Check out the best FC 27 Clubs Full-Back Build:

  • Position: LB, RB, LWB, RWB
  • Archetype: Marauder
  • Alternative: Progressor or Recycler
  • Profile: Recovery Defender with Attacking Support
  • Preferred Foot: Right or Left, choose what you want here
  • Prioritize: Sprint Speed, Stamina, Crossing, Standing Tackle, Interceptions
  • Useful PlayStyles: Jockey, Relentless, Whipped Pass, Intercept

Marauder is the best choice here for this role because you’ll have enough pace and defensive aggression. Progressor is useful if your team builds from the back. Recycler can work if you play more like a tucked-in defensive full-back.

Best FC 27 Clubs Goalkeeper Build (GK)

Nothing much to say about Goalkeeper here. You gotta pull off saves and help start attacks. Your Clubs team would only expect saves from you in reality. Everything else isn’t that important for this role. Check out the best FC 27 Clubs Goalkeeper build so far:

  • Position: GK
  • Archetype: Shot Stopper
  • Alternative: Sweeper Keeper
  • Profile: Reliable Keeper
  • Preferred Foot: Right or Left, go for any you want
  • Prioritize: Reflexes, Diving, Handling, Positioning
  • Useful PlayStyles: Far Reach, Footwork, Cross Claimer if available

Always go for Shot Stopper here, as it does the job your role implies, lol. Sweeper Keeper might be an option only if your Club plays a high line and needs you to rush out. But that role needs confidence. If you mistime one rush, everyone remembers it for the next five matches.

Best FC 27 Clubs Formations

Formations in Clubs depend heavily on how many human players you have. This is the main idea I’ve kept in mind when creating this list. Here are the best FC 27 Clubs formations to go for:

Formation

Best For

4-1-2-1-2 (2)

Small groups, central passing, two strikers

4-2-3-1 Wide

Balanced teams with wingers and CAM

4-1-4-1

Stability and midfield numbers

4-3-2-1

Fast transitions and front-three pressure

3-5-2

Midfield control with wing-backs

5-3-2

Defensive structure and counters

The biggest tip: Don’t pick a formation that leaves your best players doing nothing. If your best player is a CAM, don’t use a setup that removes the CAM.

And don’t be afraid to experiment because the right formation depends on your Club. The choice will also change, depending on the meta. Now, it’s quite early to predict anything too confidently, but this is how I see the situation.

F.A.Q.

What is the best Clubs formation in FC 27?

For most Clubs, I’d say 4-2-3-1 Wide is the best choice in terms of balance. If you play with two strikers and a CAM, 4-1-2-1-2 (2) is also a strong pick.

What are Archetypes in Clubs FC 27?

Archetypes are preset build identities for your Virtual Pro. They shape your player’s strengths, progression path, Signature PlayStyles, and role on the pitch.

How many Archetypes in Clubs FC 27?

There are 13 Archetypes in FC 27 Clubs:

  • Shot Stopper
  • Sweeper Keeper
  • Progressor
  • Boss
  • Marauder
  • Disruptor
  • Recycler
  • Maestro
  • Creator
  • Spark
  • Magician
  • Finisher
  • Target

How do Clubs work in EA FC 27?

You create a Virtual Pro, join or create a Club, and play as one player in team matches. As you progress, you’ll learn AXP, level Archetypes, and unlock rewards to improve your build.

How many people per team in FC 27 Clubs?

Just like before, FC 27 Clubs are 11v11 matches, which means there are a total of up to 22 user-controlled players when both teams are full.

Is FC 27 Clubs Crossplay?

FC 27 Clubs is a fully crossplay-supported mode across all platforms. The only exception is Nintendo Switch 2, as it doesn’t share the same crossplay pool as PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
