Mistfall Hunter Best Build for Every Gyldhunter

Mistfall Hunter features a pretty rich buildcrafting system which depends not only on the equipment you have, but also on your skill choices. It’s hard to ruin your build cause you can’t create something like a melee Sorcerer, but you gotta understand how the skills and talents interact with each other, so it’s not very easy, especially if you’re new and just want to play the game. That’s why this guide describing some of the best builds in Mistfall Hunter exists. There are six classes in the game:

  1. Mercenary: Your typical melee standard choice. Wields either Sword and Shield or a Hammer. This guide features an SnS build.
  2. Sorcerer: High skill ceiling and difficult for newbies, but one of the best classes in the game. Sorcerer can be played as an AoE support nuker, or a normal DPS. Both are very viable, but this guide has a Stardust build.
  3. Blackarrow: One of the strongest Gyldhunters currently. Very nimble and annoying, plus deals tons of damage. Has two types of arrows: Archer’s Arrow and Hunter’s Arrow. Pretty straightforward and is very good for newcomers.
  4. Shadowstrix: Agile rogue class that can fight either using a Dagger or Dual Blades. I’m describing a Dual Blades build in this guide. It’s insanely strong and is on par with Blackarrow in its potency, especially in solo play.
  5. Seer: Has two kinds of builds - Reverent and Blasphemer. This guide features a Reverent build cause it’s absolutely nasty and, dare I say, broken. Seer is the only true support class, but it wrecks solo as well.
  6. Withered Knight: The weakest class, but I love it. Can fight using a Greatsword or Polearm and a Shield. Greatsword builds are significantly better than PnS, so I’ll focus on that.

Do note that even though the build is extremely important, if you play poorly, it’s not gonna save you. Don’t simply pick the best class in Mistfall Hunter and rely on it getting you out every raid. Remember: you gotta understand what you’re doing and get the game feel well enough.

As I mentioned before, Withered Knight is the weakest class on paper, but it doesn’t mean I lose to Seer or Shadowstrix just because of that. I play from my weaknesses, expecting other players to abuse them. I’m slow, so I give the players a false sense of security when I intentionally act like I can’t hit them, and once they start breaching the gap between us, I use my class’s strength, which is long reach, and I hit between their attacks so they can’t dodge. Learn your class, and every build will become the strongest is what I’m trying to say. Now enough yapping, let’s cut to the chase.

Mercenary Best Build: Sword and Shield

The best Mercenary build in Mistfall Hunter is the Sword and Shield build. This build avoids using Hammer entirely and focuses on gladiator-style fighting by focusing on blocking, perfect blocking, Shield Dash, and counterattacks. It is not a beginner button-mashing build, but it’s not as complicated as some other classes. The build is centered around Shield Dash and Stone Breaker Slash skills. Shield Dash works as both a gap closer and a defensive engage, while Stone Breaker Slash gives Mercenary another parry. The main strategy in combat is to bait attacks into the shield, punish them, and build Momentum for counter.

  • Skills: Shield Dash, Stone Breaker Slash
  • Talents: Shield Buildup, Perfect Defense, Block Damage Boost, Momentum, Indomitable Will, Rising to the Challenge, Absolute Punishment, Stone Breaker Counter
  • Affixes: Elusive, Vitality, Valor

The key talent chain is Shield Buildup, Perfect Defense, and Block Damage Boost, because they unlock Momentum. Momentum gives the build a shockwave strike after a successful parry or attacking the enemy, which helps Mercenary avoid becoming a purely defensive turtle. Yes, let me repeat it again - even though you have a shield, you’re not gonna turtle! Mercenary is very mobile and good at provoking enemies, so use it to fully flesh out the build. Rising to the Challenge is one of the most important Shield Dash upgrades. If enemies attack into the shield during the dash, they can get stunned, opening a window to attack them. Stone Breaker Counter is also important because it adds super armor to the counter and makes the parry skill more reliable against the admittedly awkward hitboxes Mistfall Hunter has. Overall, this is the best Mercenary build for solo players who enjoy baiting the enemy. It rewards patience and timing. A good Merc will make the enemy feel like a dog on the leash.

Sorcerer Best Build: Stardust Sorcerer

Sorcerer is perhaps the most gear-hungry class out of the bunch. You’ll need lots of Gyldenblood to truly make it shine for instant casts. The best Sorcerer build is Stardust Sorcerer. Elemental Fireball is another build you can try. Elemental Thunderstrike is easier to understand, but it’s weaker, and Stardust has the better skills and talents once the player knows how to manage instant casts and spacing. This build is all about forcing dodges, chaining Meteor Charm hits, and using Stardust Tempest to create space. It’s a good solo build, but it truly shines in trios. The main damage skill is Meteor Charm. If the first Meteor Charm lands, it staggers the enemy and lets the next one connect through instant cast. Stardust Tempest adds damage and slows the target. Rock Blast is mostly there to bait for dodges, but if it lands, the damage is huge.

  • Skills: Meteor Charm, Stardust Tempest, Rock Blast. If you have trouble with Withered Knight or Mercenary, take Meteor Impact over Rock Blast
  • Defensive/General Skills: Phantom Step, Shadow Veil, Windcraft or Cryptic Ward
  • Talents: No Escape, Quagmire, Storm Impact. Optional skills are Enchanted Ward and Hurricane.
  • Affixes: Eloquence 5 first, then Elusive, Vitality, Range, Fervor. The rest are the damage-focused affixes

The core of this build is to capitalize on instant casts. Without it, the build is too slow and too easy to punish. Meteor Charm is the main damage dealer because you can chain it. Unlike Elemental, Stardust Sorcerer has powerful burst instead of relying only on slow ranged pressure. Phantom Step is another strong skill in the build because Mistfall Hunter has a big emphasis on movement. Shadow Veil is also strong for solos because it can interrupt enemy openers and give Sorcerer a chance to escape. The third defensive skill depends on your confidence. Windcraft is easier and safer, but Cryptic Ward is stronger if you can time it.

Let’s talk about Meteor Impact shortly. It’s a defensive tech option, and it is not used for damage. It’s a repositioning skill that forces super-armored melee players to waste their dodge and catch them with Meteor Charm. If you are someone who struggles against melee classes, give it a try.

Blackarrow Best Build: Hunter’s Arrow

Blackarrow is a very easy and understandable class to play as. The best Blackarrow build is Hunter’s Arrow using Barbed Arrow, Bloodfly Arrow, and Paralysis Arrow. It’s almost a melee build, and it’s seriously strong. Ragebaiting players is what Blackarrow does best. This class plays around spacing and chasing enemies, disengaging to heal. Paralysis Arrow is the safer default, but Spore Arrow can replace it when melee classes are the #1 cause of death when you play as this class. For the second skill, I pick Shadow Step because it is more reliable than Impact Grenade.

  • Skills: Barbed Arrow, Bloodfly Arrow, Paralysis Arrow, Shadow Step, Scattershot, Rapid Arrows. Take Spore Arrow instead of Paralysis against melee classes
  • Talents: Pursuit Mark, Mark Pursuer, Blood Infection, Powerful Scattershot, Battle Fed, Lasting Pain, Dodge Weapon Shot, Laceration
  • Affixes: Vitality, Elusive, Valor, then Curse

The first three affixes are the standard solo core. Vitality gives more skill energy, Elusive improves dodge, and Valor increases overall damage. Black Arrow needs all three because for this class, it’s important to keep moving, firing, and staying just out of melee reach. After that, Curse is your priority. It improves Barbed Arrow and Bloodfly Arrow by making their effects stronger and longer-lasting. That gives Black Arrow better damage over time and more damage when the fights start to drag. It’s a very enjoyable build if you learn positioning and spacing and is hard-countered by a good Seer or a Withered Knight.

Shadowstrix Best Build: Dual Blades Pressure

I think that there’s something wrong with this class’s balancing, cause other classes have obvious bias towards moving fast or being slower and dealing more damage. This class is fast and does a ton of damage. To quote one ancient philosopher, “What were they thinking?” The best Shadowstrix build is Dual Blades. Dagger can still be used sometimes for closing distance or escaping, but Dual Blades are the main weapon. You quickly engage from stealth, use Crow Storm for control, and do damage with Spinning Slash. It can sound difficult initially, but once you learn the sequence by heart, you’ll realize that this class is actually really easy. In my opinion, this is by far the strongest class in Mistfall Hunter. Spinning Slash is the main centerpiece cause it synergizes with many other talents. It can be used both as a positioning and damage skill.

  • Skills: Spinning Slash, Crow Storm, Strike Throw, Bloody Bladedance, Fun Rush
  • Talents: Wound Buildup, Ambush, Haste, Combat Euphoria, Unstoppable, Blackout, Crow Storm range / AoE upgrades
  • Affixes: Elusive, Vitality, Valor, then damage or stealth-focused affixes.

One issue that Shadowstrix has is that it can’t lock down enemies as efficiently. Crow Storm is the only control talent you’ll need to fix it. With talents for better crow speed and AoE, Shadowstrix will catch enemies trying to escape from the flurry of strikes. This skill makes the class less dependent on having a perfect opener and gives room for mistakes. Shadowstrix is a high-risk, high-reward melee class. You go in and go out as a winner or return to the hub with all your loot lost. When it misses, the class is much easier to kill than Mercenary or Withered Knight.

Seer Best Build: Revenant Seer

Another contender for best class in Mistfall Hunter is Seer. The best Seer build is Revenant, especially for players who want a ranged support that’s still strong in 1v1. If you’re the one who will be fulfilling the support role in your trio, fret not. This build is far from being a simple healbot. You can say that Seer is a Swiss Army knife of this game. The core skills are Wind Surge and Healing Art. Healing Art is the main support tool because it restores health and removes debuffs before healing, including anti-heal, Barbed Arrow, Bloodfly Arrow, Paralysis Arrow, and Sorcerer burns. Wind Surge is a Revenant Seer’s escape button cause it knocks back your opponent if you land it, and you can even kill your opponent after it.

  • Skills: Wind Surge, Healing Art, Punishment Rune, Intimidation Rune, Burst Rune. When in trios, change Wind Surge to Death Ward. You can also pick Wind Walker Totem for trios
  • Talents: Healing Art cleanse/healing talents, Opportunist Strike, Wind Walker support talent for trios
  • Affixes: Valor 5, Eloquence 5, Stoic 5, Elusive as high as possible. Optional Ethereal 5, optional Creation 5, optional Seeker

Burst Rune is your main damage dealer. It reaches around corners, applies damage, staggers, and later detonates for another stagger. What’s not to like? That delayed stagger can be chained into a heavy attack once you learn the timing. You probably won’t be a top fragger of your team, as this build is more about dealing damage and supporting your team, but you will be the reason your friends win. For trios, Wind Walker Totem is the standout support option. It reduces enemy dodge distance inside its area while boosting teammates' dodge distance, which can heavily tip the scales in your favor if the enemy does not destroy the totem.

Withered Knight Best Build: Greatsword Wither Burst

The best Withered Knight build is the Greatsword Wither Burst build. Polearm and Shield is really weak, cause playing as a slow tank in this game is a dubious pleasure, but that's getting changed in the upcoming patch. Greatsword is the stronger PvP option when the goal is to end fights quickly. The build focuses on applying Wither, extending it, and triggering execute damage through heavy attacks or skill follow-ups. Withered Knight’s main skills are Breakthrough Charge and Radiant Retribution. Breakthrough Charge helps close the distance and start pressure, while Radiant Retribution covers the ground with its wide attacks that also have super armor at the end of the combo chain. For the third skill, you can decide between Parry and Thorn Guide. The first skill is better for solo play, while Thorn Guide is used to pull enemy groups out of position.

  • Skills: Breakthrough Charge, Radiant Retribution, Parry for solo, Thorn Guide for trios
  • Talents: Greatsword Specialization, Crime, Bad Karma, Righteous Creed, Long Range, Whiplash, Dominance. You can also take Legacy, but it’s optional.
  • Affixes: Burst, Valor, Tenacious, Aegis

The most important talent combo is Crime and Bad Karma. Crime makes Greatsword execute no longer fully consume Wither, while Bad Karma adds debuffs when Wither is applied. These debuffs can slow enemies and increase the damage they take, locking them down once the combo starts. Righteous Creed adds more physical damage after a successful execution. Whiplash lets Radiant Retribution’s final strike execute enemies affected by Wither, and Dominance gives Breakthrough Charge brief super armor. The result is a very aggressive build that keeps moving forward and punishes players for mashing the dodge button. Really strong in the early stages of the game when players are inexperienced in fighting.

Which Mistfall Hunter Build Should You Play?

Picking the best Mistfall Hunter build depends on how you like to approach fights. Some classes want to bait and switch on enemies, while others are quite straightforward with their beatdown strategy. Here’s a quick comparison of every build in this guide, with the main pros, cons, and the type of player each one fits best.

Class / Build

Pros

Cons

Best For

Mercenary

Strong defenses and rewarding playstyle in solo duels

Not very strong in trios, needs good timing as one bad parry will cost you the fight

Players who like baiting attacks, blocking, and making enemies overcommit

Sorcerer

Huge burst, strong zoning, good damage, great in trios

High skill ceiling, needs understanding of positioning, weak if caught when skills are on cd

Players who like to burst their opponents, spell combos, and being the strategist

Blackarrow

Easy to understand, strong damage over time, great mobility, annoying your enemies

Needs good spacing, weak against some classes

Newcomers, bow players, and basically anyone who likes kiting enemies to death

Shadowstrix

Extremely fast, high damage, rewarding playstyle

All-in playstyle is very easy to die to

Adrenaline junkies who like to go all-or-nothing

Seer

Strong support, great sustain, best utility

Can’t really kill on its own plus can be killed easily when caught between cooldowns

True selfless heroes

Withered Knight

Good reach, strategic and methodical gameplay, good damage

Slow, easy to kite, needs matchup knowledge

Players who like heavy melee, spacing traps, and punishing impatience

There is no single build that fits everyone. Blackarrow is probably the easiest class to start with, while Shadowstrix and Seer are among the strongest when played well. Mercenary is the safest pick for new players who like reactive combat, and Withered Knight is worth playing if you enjoy hitting enemies with a big stick. I recommend starting with Blackarrow, Mercenary, or Shadowstrix for solo. For trios, Seer and Stardust Sorcerer become much more valuable because their utility and control are easier to realize with teammates.
