Torchlight Infinite Class Tier List Quick Overview:

  1. Top 5 most played classes - Gemma Frostbitten Heart, Rosa Unsullied Blade, Erika Vendetta’s Sting, Rehan Seething Silhouette, Erika Wind Stalker
  2. The tier list is based on the data from 3 regions and the projection of the first week of Season 12 progress
  3. Different Character variations do take different tiers. Gemma Frostbitten Heart is S-tier, Gemma Ice-Fire Fusion is B-Tier
  4. Hero traits are ranked separately, not just the base characters, because each variation has its own scaling, playstyle, and place in the meta
  5. Lower-tier characters are still viable, but they had less representation, weaker progression results, or fewer high-end clears in the data

How My Tier List Works

I didn’t want to make another tier list based only on my experience. Instead, I found actual data that lists the most played heroes in all of the previous season, Vorax, so I could make a more objective tier list.

The way this tier list works is this - I’ve looked at what characters were played the most and reached levels 93-95 in the first couple of days of the season. This gives me a good idea of how good they’re going to be in S12 Lunaria. I also looked at the rankings for Supreme Showdown clears, which is a game mode where you get to fight against bosses in a row. A sort of boss gauntlet mode, if you will.

Most of my data comes from tliherorank.com, which is about the only source that shows the leaderboards outside of the game itself.

Now, if you’re new, there’s one more thing to note about the tier list, and that is I’m not ranking Heroes, but rather Heroes with specific traits. In Torchlight: Infinite, traits like Erika (Wind Stalker), aka Erika 1, and Erika (Vendetta’s Sting), aka Erika 3, are not minor versions of the same character. You can call them sub-classes, and they perform differently, as you’ll see in the tier list. They use different playstyles, scale in different ways, and sit in different spots in the meta, so it makes more sense to rank them individually instead of grouping them under one base hero.

Here is how I define each tier:

  • S-Tier: Meta characters. These are the most powerful and popular traits in the season.
  • A-Tier: Strong options. These traits are pretty solid and competitive, but they are slightly less popular across all regions - Europe, the US, and Asia
  • B-Tier: Solid but even less represented. These can still work well, but they were less played, with fewer builds good for endgame leaderboards.
  • C-Tier: Off-meta picks. These traits were more niche in Vorax and will likely stay that way in Lunaria
  • D-Tier: Least played options. These are the traits I saw the least confidence in during the season, either because they were ignored, underexplored, or simply not trusted by the player base.

Torchlight Infinite Class Tier List

This tier list is relevant for Season 12 Lunaria and reflects the meta snapshot shown by the data set I used. I am ranking hero traits, not just base heroes, because that is how Torchlight: Infinite’s meta actually works in practice.

Tier

Characters

S-Tier

Gemma (Frostbitten Heart), Rosa (Unsullied Blade), Erika (Vendetta’s Sting), Rehan (Seething Silhouette), Erika (Wind Stalker), Carino (Zealot of War)

A-Tier

Youga (Spacetime Elapse), Bing (Creative Genius), Erika (Lightning Shadow), Thea (Blasphemer), Iris (Vigilant Breeze), Rosa (High Court Chariot)

B-Tier

Moto (Charge Calling), Rehan (Anger), Selena (Sing with the Tide), Youga (Spacetime Illusion), Gemma (Ice-Fire Fusion)

C-Tier

Gemma (Flame of Pleasure), Thea (Incarnation of the Gods), Iris (Growing Breeze), Carino (Lethal Flash)

D-Tier

Carino (Ranger of Glory), Thea (Wisdom of The Gods), Bing (Blast Nova), Moto (Order Calling)

What I noticed when looking at the stats from the start of the season was that some heroes and traits were leading until they hit a certain high level (not max), but then were dropped entirely because they were no good in Supreme Showdown and other endgame activities.

At the same time, there’s no point in belittling C and D tiers because even this clearly data-driven tier list is subjective. I might have misinterpreted the numbers; some regions and their leaderboards might not be as representative of the hero's effectiveness. What I’m trying to say is that this should still be taken with a grain of salt.

Top 5 Best Characters

These five heroes (and their traits) are meta not only when it comes to fast leveling and reaching the max level, but also in endgame content like clearing Supreme Showdown.

Once Season 12 is in full swing, I’ll update the tier list and include Sage, which is the new hero. For now, there’s not enough data on her, and it feels pointless to predict anything at this point. The same goes for Renewed Memories, a progression system on top of Hero Memories that promises to change how traits work.

Gemma Frostbitten Heart

Frostbitten Heart Gemma shows up in all of the leaderboards, especially among the characters who reach level 95 on day two of the season’s launch. That’s a big achievement, and it is true for this hero in all regions. This is probably due to her buff and pretty meta Spell Tangle builds that spawn multiple tangles around enemies, each dealing damage with the chance to deal even more damage if you keep clicking on the target. So I suspect she’ll be in the meta during Season 12 as well.

Rosa Unsullied Blade

Rosa’s Unsullied Blade has been at the top of the rankings throughout the entire season when it comes to endgame. This was a very popular pick with the highest count of Supreme Showdown 21 3-star clears. This is mainly because this is a pretty tanky hero, so handling boss mechanics is a little easier. It seems that this hero is especially popular in the EU region since a lot of Rosa’s reached level 95 in the first two days. Her popularity might drop during Lunaria, but not by much. We’ll just have to see what kind of tweaks will be added and if they will change anything.

Erika Vendetta’s Sting

Despite being hit by nerfes during Vorax season, this trait version of Erika still managed to take its place in the leaderboards of players who have hit levels 93 and 95 in the first couple of days. Although that number is slightly lower than Frostbitten Heart’s, it just says a lot about how powerful this character is.

Rehan Seething Silhouette

This is a pretty strong pick overall, with over 300 clears of 20+ bosses in Supreme Showdown in all regions. Despite some nerfs coming in Season 12 to his ability to stack HP, he will still be meta, as none of these changes will change much of anything. Just keep using the Berserking Blade build as it will still be the GOAT of tanking builds in the new season.

Erika Wind Stalker

Erika’s trait has made it easy to get to level 95 in the first couple of days for players from all regions, which means this is a pretty easy hero to level up as. I bet it’s thanks to Wind Stalker bonuses like +20% movement speed and stacks of Stalker, each granting +13% bonus damage during Multistrike. And Multistrike gives you a chance to repeat the attack at a faster speed and with increased damage.

She will continue to be at the top of the rankings in the Lunaria season, there’s no doubt about that. Even if one of 3 traits gets nerfed, as a hero, Erika will continue to be in the meta.
