TBC Classic Anniversary Flying Unlock Requirements

Flying lets you travel around the world with much more ease. No wonder it’s one of the most desired features to unlock. There are two levels of flying abilities for most classes and one that unlocks for Druids. You learn it in Outland. Luckily, unlocking flight doesn’t require you to jump through multiple hoops. You don’t need much to unlock it. Here are the TBC Classic Anniversary flying unlock requirements:
- Expert Riding: You need to unlock the Expert level of Riding skill for 800 gold, which can be done by talking to Ilsa Busterbrew for Alliance players, or Olrokk for Horde players. I’ll mention where you can find them later.
- Flying Mount: Buying a mount doesn’t cost that much. TBC Classic Anniversary flying mount prices aren’t high. Just 100 for a Rare one, and 200 for an Epic mount. You purchase them from different vendors. Brunn Flamebeard for Alliance and Dama Wildmane for Horde. They are right next to trainers.
- Player Level 70: Before that, you can’t learn this skill, unless you’re a Druid.
- Reaching Outland: Unfortunately, flying isn’t available throughout the rest of Azeroth, unlike in retail. Only the Outland area. Thanks for that, at least.
In The Burning Crusade, flying is a major thing, as you can reach some previously inaccessible locations. For instance, one of the World Bosses requires you to fly to their location to attempt to fight them. BLOG20
TBC Classic Flying Trainer Locations

Both of the trainers and mount sellers can be found only in Shadowmoon Valley. You can’t learn to fly anywhere else in Azeroth. In TBC, flying is only accessible in a limited area. Flying is a real time saver, though. Returning to ground mounts feels like a downgrade, even though the default flying mount has only 60% of speed. That’s why you need to learn to fly asap once you hit LVL70. In the table below, you’ll find TBC Classic flying trainer locations, as well as mount sellers:

TBC Classic Anniversary Flying skill cost isn’t that high, at least for the initial level of flying skill. It’s worth saving your money to unlock it, and it’s not that hard to get those 800 coins. What’s crazy is that normal vs epic flying cost in TBC Classic are 800 vs 5000 gold. I remember grinding for these 5000 gold. Seems like inflation works in Azeroth the same as everywhere else in the real world.
How to Unlock Flying for Druid in TBC Classic Anniversary
Druid is in luck since he can unlock flying earlier than other classes. Not only that, his flight training costs significantly less than others: only 8 gold and 60 silver. Your flying is a shapeshift Form, which turns into a Stormcrow. Isn’t it cool? Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to unlock flying for Druid in TBC Classic Anniversary:
- Reach Level 68: Once you reach it, you unlock the ability to learn Flight Form.
- Have Journeyman Riding Unlocked: This is a skill that lets you ride Epic ground mounts. You probably already have that.
- Find a Druid Trainer: You train this skill for 8 gold, 60 silver.
And that’s it. Playing the Druid is actually the fastest way to get flying in TBC Classic Anniversary. The coolest thing is that you unlock Expert Riding for free as soon as Flight Form becomes available. If you get tired of Storm Crow form, you can use a flying mount, just like everybody else. I’ve no idea why you’d need that, unless you really want a winged pal.
If you want to further upgrade your Flight Form to Swift Flight Form, you’ll have to wait until Phase 2. Before that, you can’t reach the 280% speed of Epic flying mounts. This means that you’ll need to unlock Artisan Riding anyway. Save those 5000 gold as they’ll come in handy in Phase 2, since learning this skill costs the same amount as for other classes. After that, you need to start a chain of lengthy quests, available from Morthis Whisperwing at Cenarion Refuge in Zangarmarsh. But that’s a story for another time.
