TBC Classic Anniversary Professions Leveling Guide

Almost every profession on the list lets you craft recipes that require Classic mats. This means knowing which materials are required to level up your profession right away lets you prepare and farm them. This will let you level up your profession really fast, as soon as the TBC Anniversary starts. In this TBC Classic Anniversary professions leveling guide, I cover all professions that are possible to speed level this way by advising the right crafting recipes and the materials needed for them.

Alchemy

Alchemy is starting off our TBC Classic Anniversary profession guide. Though some of the new recipes unlocked at level 300 include old materials, all of them require you to farm new Burning Crusade mats as well, like Felweed, for instance. Instead of doing that, go to Scholomance and farm the final boss until he drops a Recipe: Major Mana Potion. The Major Mana Potion crafting can get you up to 330, significantly speeding up your progression. Here are all the materials needed to create Major Mana Potion:

But the best way to level up profession in TBC Anniversary is by going to an Auction House and buying a Recipe: Greater Arcane Protection Potion. That's how I did it cause I didn't want to farm the boss and hope for RNG. The recipe can be quite pricey, but it’s much, much cheaper when it comes to materials, requiring only Dream Dust x1, Dreamfoil x1, and Crystal Veil x1. You know the craziest thing? This recipe can get your character's profession level up to 340!

Blacksmithing

Go to Honor Hold and find a Master Blacksmithing Trainer, Humphry. He can teach you how to craft Enchanted Thorium Blades. Though it requires only Classic materials, you can't learn it before TBC drops. The materials needed to craft are as follows:

Leveling a profession this way will let you get to level 330. This is the most efficient way in TBC to level up a profession, as you won't need to spend your Fel Iron Bars, which are an important material needed later in the game. You can use Fel Iron Bars to craft something like Fel Iron Chain Coif or Fel Sharpening Stone to get you to 340, though.

Enchanting

Moving on with the TBC Classic Anniversary profession leveling. Enchanting is kinda awkward to level up. The bottleneck you'd face here if you approached it as most people do is that you'd need Fel Iron Rods to craft a new Runed Fel Iron Rod. What's the bottleneck? We need Blacksmiths to get those, and it’s hard to get the materials very early in the expansion.

Most older high-level enchants can still get your character to level 330. No need to disenchant newer green TBC items. Look at older enchants and find the one that you have the most materials for. One I can recommend is Formula: Enchant Bracer - Superior Stamina. The reason is that it only requires Illusion Dust x15. This will get you to 330 with no problem, and after that, you can start using your TBC materials.

Leatherworking

There are a few ways you can approach leveling your Leatherworking.

I don't recommend the second option for this TBC Classic Anniversary profession progression, though, unless you have lots of scraps, as Knothide Leather will be needed later when creating better items once you reach 330. Combine it with Skinning and go and hunt Boars, as described in the section about Skinning.

Engineering

As with Leatherworking, you have two options for reliably upgrading your Engineering. You'll either use your Thorium Bars or Fire Goggles. Both let you level up to 320, and both are quite expensive.

Item

Type

Materials

Thorium Tube

Parts

Thorium Bar x4

Master Engineer's Goggles

Cloth

Fire Goggles x1, Huge Emerald x2, Enchanted Leather x4

I don't recommend either option unless you have a lot of materials prepared. I'd even argue that for Engineering, you don't actually need to prepare the Classic mats.

Out of all TBC Classic Anniversary profession leveling tips that I can give, follow this advice: save up gold and buy Fel Iron Bars, Motes of Fire, and Motes of Earth in the Auction House. You will need them once you get to lvl 320 anyway to craft a Fel Iron Bomb. You can already use the mats to craft other materials for the Bomb at level 300, so why bother with farming if it's gonna take a ton of time and still come out pretty expensive? BLOG20

Jewelcrafting

A new profession, introduced in The Burning Crusade. One of the toughest prof leveling in TBC Classic Anniversary. Getting it to 330 is not an easy task. At level 300, you can craft the Emerald Lion Ring, which requires pretty simple materials:

Crafting this ring will only get us to level 310. Other items, like Glowing Shadow Draenite or Teardrop Blood Garnet, require you to either prospect or mine the Fel Iron Ores in the expansion to get their normal variations to drop. Alternatively, you can slay enemies in the Outland or dungeons and pray that they drop.

Tailoring

One of the easiest professions to speed level. At level 300, you learn how to make Bolt of Netherweave using Netherweave Cloth. You can farm it easily by finishing humanoid targets. This will get you to 325. If you want to prepare beforehand, you can craft Bolt of Runecloth and Dream Dust or Ironweb Spider Silk

  • Dream Dust: Lets you craft Wizardweave Robe or Wizardweave Leggings.
  • Ironweb Spider Silk: Lets you craft a Runecloth Headband or Runecloth Pants.

Doing it this way will level up your profession to 335. It’s the cheapest way to level TBC Classic profession, as you would need a ton of Bolts of Netherweave to get you from 325 to 335.

Cooking

My personal favorite to level up. I don't know why, honestly. Maybe I feel like this is the fastest way to level a profession in TBC Anniversary. At level 285, go to Twilight Base Camp, southwest of Cenarion Hold. You'll find a book that offers you a quest that you can finish as soon as you pick it up. Then, you'll be given a fetch quest, where you'll be given a Torn Recipe Page that you need to bring to the Calandrath in Silithus. After that, she'll teach you a new recipe called Smoked Desert Dumplings. The materials are very easy to get:

You can farm the Sandworm meat by slaying, you'll never guess it, Sandworms in Silithus, or just buy it off the Auction. It's kinda expensive, though. Cooking this dish will level you up to 330.

Gathering Professions Leveling TBC Anniversary

Mining, Herbalism, and Skinning aren't something that you really need to speed level. Unless you try to get to the top-level materials faster than anybody else, you can just mine the Thorium sources or gather Herbs around the open world, and the prof will progress much faster than if you, say, smelted Fel Iron Ores. Here’s how you can do the gathering professions leveling in TBC Anniversary faster:

  1. Mining: Look for Yellow Thorium ores, they’ll give you more resources and let you level your mining much faster.
  2. Herbalism: A general recommendation for Herbalism is to go to high-level zones, as you get green and orange Herbs there more frequently.
  3. Skinning: Don't skin in Classic areas. Go to Hellfire Peninsula and find an area with lots of beasts, like Deranged Hellboars. Fight them yourself, or let other people finish them and then start skinning. A great source of Knothide Scraps, btw.

When it comes to something like Fishing or First Aid, I don’t think there’s even a need to explain those. Fishing is extremely long and tedious, and you basically just want to go to higher-level zones in order to get better fish that bring you more prof points. As for First Aid, it requires Netherweave to level from 300-375, so just farm that. Buy a Master First Aid - Doctor in the House book that lets you craft the new healing items, and that’s it.
