Fastest Way to Reach Level 45 in Aion 2

The good news is, the leveling is not that difficult, and it is pretty streamlined. Aion 2 in general is a pretty casual theme park MMORPG, and most of its content is focused around the endgame, so getting there is easy.

All you have to do is the story quests, which are marked by yellow markers on the map. Or you can find them under the “Episode” tab on the map screen. At certain levels, you’ll do one other thing called Ascensions, which are like your milestone quests. I would say that the most important thing that they give you is better wings, which let you fly longer with each grade. I’ll explain more about those quests later. Besides those, you’ll also do a couple of dungeons in the Expedition category, which are like your story-difficulty quests.

You don’t need to do anything else while leveling. Forget about upgrading your gear (although you will do that once as part of a tutorial early on); forget about buying your own gear because story quests will reward you with new gear, which add up to gear sets. Side-quests, which you will end up doing a few of just to hit the requirements for the next Ascension reward, will give you accessories. So that covers all your gear slots. You don’t really need to upgrade your skills if you don’t want to, or interact with the Daevanion system past the first tutorial. So, all you do is follow the main quest, do your Ascension, 2-3 dungeons, and you’re golden. It’ll be over before you know it, trust me.

AION 2 Leveling Route Overview

To paint you a better picture, here’s what leveling usually looks like:

Level

Continue Episode Quests

45

Complete the third Ascension

45

Raise Gear Score and complete Draupnir

After 45

Continue toward the Abyss and finish the remaining Episode Quest

One of the most important systems to understand early is Ascension. Ascensions are major character progression checkpoints tied to the Episode Quest. Before each one, you must satisfy specific quest requirements and fill an Ascension Gauge to 100%. That gauge gains progress from content such as Episode Quests, Regional Quests, Ascension Quests, Sealed Dungeons, and Strongholds. So, usually when you see the Ascension Gauge pop up, the first thing you do is get to the required level and then do a few of those additional open-world activities to fill the gauge. You’ve got to do those at least to get the better wings.

Up to level 45, there are three major Ascensions you need to worry about:

Level

Quest

Rewards

5

The One Who Perceives

Lesser Daeva Wings (Bound)

22

The One Who Hears the Voice

Intermediate Daeva Wings (Bound)

Stigma Shard (Bound)

49

The One Who Swears the Oath

They also unlock one of the progression systems, like Arcana or Daevanion. There’ll be an annoying line in your quest log if you decide to ignore them.

Levels 1-20: Follow the Episode Quests

You should spend the first levels following the yellow Episode Quests. These form the main leveling path and naturally introduce most of AION 2’s systems.

The green Regional Quests are the game’s side quests. They’re worth doing eventually because they contribute to permanent progression (by which I mean you only gotta do them once per character) and can reward useful gear. Still, I wouldn’t clear every one as soon as they pop up. If a Regional Quest is directly on your route or offers a useful accessory, it’s worth picking up. Otherwise, you can leave it for later.

The same applies to Feathers, which are collectibles scattered around the world. You eventually bring them to a Monolith, which levels up as you feed Feathers into it and rewards permanent progression materials. The whole system is called Resonance, and it will be covered in a different guide. One of the main uses of these rewards is improving your Amulet. Feathers matter long-term, but I don’t recommend running out of your way to collect every one while leveling. Grab the convenient ones and come back for the rest later.

You’ll also start finding Strongholds and Sealed Dungeons. Those will be marked with a question mark,k and you need to come up to one on the map to uncover them.

Both are small instanced activities scattered around the map. Strongholds contribute to Belt progression, while Sealed Dungeons feed into permanent passive progression. You will eventually want to clear all of them, including those on the opposing faction’s continent, but early on you should mainly use them when they help fill an Ascension Gauge or happen to be directly on your route.

What Should You Upgrade While Leveling?

Don’t waste your resources on gear or weapons, which are replaced quickly, so spending lots of enhancement materials on them usually isn’t worth it during the push to 45.

Later dungeons will have a gear score requirement, which comes from Daevanion as one of the sources, so you could actually just click on the nodes there as you get the points, but they won’t count towards unlocking new content until you reach the max level. Daevanion is not something that unlocks new content by itself; it actually levels up your skills and provides various PvE bonuses. Daevanion system will be covered separately in another guide; all you have to know is that you don’t really need to interact with it when leveling

Level 20: Complete Your First Expedition

At around level 20, the Episode Quest introduces Krao Cave, your first Exploration Expedition dungeon.

Expeditions are AION 2’s standard PvE dungeons. The versions you encounter while leveling are called Exploration Expeditions, while the harder max-level versions are Conquest Expeditions. Both use a similar dungeon structure, usually with two minibosses followed by a final boss. Killing the minibosses contributes additional loot to the final reward.

Once you get to that reward cube, you’ll learn about the Odyle energy system.

What Is Odyle Energy?

Odyle Energy is the resource used to claim dungeon rewards. When you finish an Expedition, the final boss doesn’t simply drop all your loot. Instead, a reward cube appears, and opening that cube costs Odyle Energy.

This means completing a dungeon and claiming its rewards are two separate things. Odyle Energy regenerates over time, and the same resource is used across several PvE activities, so it becomes quite valuable later. In terms of numbers you’re looking at (based on the playtest client):

  • Passive regeneration: 15 Odyle Energy every 3 hours
  • Daily passive regen: 120
  • Weekly passive regen: 840
  • Base cap with Membership: 840
  • Base cap without Membership: 560
  • Charged Odyle Energy cap: 2,000
  • Typical dungeon reward cube cost: 40 Odyle Energy

There are two separate Odyle pools. Basic Odyle Energy is the one that regenerates automatically, while Charged Odyle Energy is a reserve you refill through consumables and other sources. Basic energy is spent first.

I recommend clearing the Exploration Expeditions required by the Episode Quest but not automatically opening their reward cubes. Just save Odyle for Conquest Expeditions at level 45, where the rewards are much more useful for actual endgame gearing. Reaching your first Expedition early is also valuable because this is when Odyle recovery starts.

Level 22: Second Ascension

At level 22, you reach your second major Ascension, The One Who Hears the Voice, after you’ve unlocked your wings and become Daeva.

If you’ve mostly rushed Episode Quests, there’s a good chance your Ascension Gauge won’t be at 100% yet. You’ll probably be at roughly 85% once you see this, which means you only need a handful of side activities before you can continue.  Regional Quests, Sealed Dungeons, and Strongholds are the easiest ways to finish the missing progress. I recommend prioritizing Regional Quests that reward accessories, because those accessories will also help with Gear Score requirements later in the story. If there aren’t any useful accessory quests nearby, clear convenient Sealed Dungeons or Strongholds instead. Once the gauge reaches 100%, complete The One Who Hears the Voice. This first Ascension upgrades you to Intermediate Daeva Wings and introduces Stigmas.

What Are Stigmas?

Stigmas are kind of your big-dick, ultimate skills. Depending on your class, they can provide extra damage, utility, defensive tools, or other effects. You don’t need a fully optimized endgame Stigma setup while leveling, but once the system unlocks, you should keep your useful Stigmas upgraded alongside your normal skills. I’d prioritize that permanent combat progression over heavily enhancing temporary equipment.

Levels 22-32: Keep Following the Episode Quest

After the first Ascension, return to the Episode Quest and keep pushing forward. There’s still no reason to grind normal enemies for XP or repeatedly farm dungeons for equipment. At level 28, you reach Urugugu Canyon, the second Exploration Expedition. You should clear it because the Episode Quest takes you there, but I recommend treating the reward cube the same way as Krao Cave and saving your Odyle Energy. One small limitation is worth knowing. The game tracks a remaining unobtained cube count for Expeditions. If you repeatedly clear dungeons without opening their reward cubes, this number goes down, and reaching zero prevents further runs for the rest of the week. For a normal leveling run, this shouldn’t matter much, but it does stop players from endlessly clearing dungeons without spending Odyle.

Level 32: Third Ascension

At level 32, you reach your second Ascension, The One Who Dreams. The process works much like the first one. If your Ascension Gauge isn’t full, use nearby Regional Quests, Sealed Dungeons, and Strongholds to finish it. I recommend following the same priority as before: useful accessory Regional Quests first, then nearby Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds. Completing The One Who Dreams finishes your second Ascension and upgrades you to Superior Daeva Wings. Once it’s done, go straight back to the Episode Quest.

Level 35: Fire Temple Dungeon

At level 35, the next major dungeon is Fire Temple, another Exploration Expedition.

The general rule stays the same: clear it because it’s part of your progression, but don’t automatically spend Odyle Energy on the reward cube. One potential exception is for those players who are specifically farming Fire Temple’s extended weapon for PvP. If that’s your goal, spending Odyle there can make sense. Otherwise, I’d keep saving it.

Levels 35-45: Keep up Keepin' Up

From here, your leveling route is straightforward. Keep following Episode Quests and complete whatever mandatory content they send you into. You don’t need to farm normal mobs, repeatedly run Exploration Expeditions for gear, collect every Feather, or clear the entire map. You also shouldn’t feel pressured to finish every Regional Quest, Stronghold, and Sealed Dungeon before reaching 45. None of that content is useless. In fact, much of it becomes essential for permanent progression later. The difference is timing. Before level 45, your priority is reaching the cap and moving the Episode Quest forward. Once you reach 45, Gear Score and permanent progression become much more important.

Level 45: Third Ascension

At level 45, you reach the third Ascension, The One Who Witnesses the Nightmare. Completing it upgrades you to Ultimate Daeva Wings. Level 45 is also where I’d consider the actual leveling process finished, even though the Episode Quest continues. At this point, your main problem stops being XP and becomes Gear Score. Gear Score is AION 2’s overall measurement of character strength. Equipment contributes to it, but permanent progression systems such as Daevanion also increase it. Later Episode Quest objectives and dungeons use Gear Score requirements, so this is where all the side content you postponed starts becoming useful. Reaching level 45 also starts certain max-level progression timers. Grobs specifically notes that Nightmare Dungeon tickets begin recharging at level 45, which is one reason reaching the cap quickly is useful even if you plan to explore and clear the map afterward.

What to Do After Reaching Level 45

Once you hit 45, start clearing the permanent progression content you skipped earlier. Regional Quests, Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds, Daevanion progression, and other systems now help you raise Gear Score and meet the remaining Episode Quest requirements. You should also make sure you’ve obtained your Clash Rune. It provides both a PvE benefit and a significant Gear Score increase, making it useful for overcoming later progression walls.

What Are Runes?

Runes are equippable progression items that provide additional bonuses and increase Gear Score. Regional Quests can reward class Runes during progression, while the later Clash Box provides the Clash Rune. I don’t recommend aggressively enhancing your early Runes. Rune enhancement can fail and destroy the Rune, and the first transcript specifically recommends making only a very limited early investment while replacements are scarce. During leveling and early post-45 progression, simply having the right Rune equipped is more important than pushing enhancement too far.

Space-Time Rifts and the Enemy Continent

Eventually, you also need to clear progression content on the opposing faction’s continent. Space-Time Rifts are temporary portals that let Elyos and Asmodians travel into enemy territory.

In the version Grobs covers, Rifts appear every three hours. You have a 10-minute window to enter, and once you cross through, you can remain on the enemy continent for one hour. During that time, you can explore the map and clear Regional Quests, Sealed Dungeons, and Strongholds that you can’t access from your own faction’s continent.

These activities aren’t just optional completion objectives. They provide more permanent character progression, which becomes useful when you’re trying to push through Gear Score requirements.

You also aren’t automatically forced into PvP when using a Rift. Players arrive unflagged by default, although hostile faction NPC guards can still kill you very quickly if you get too close to their camps. I also recommend picking up the relevant Rift Regional Quest before entering so you don’t waste the trip.

Level 45: Draupnir and the First Gear Score Wall

The final Exploration Expedition relevant to this route is Draupnir. Unlike the earlier leveling dungeons, Draupnir can become a real progression wall because you may reach it without enough Gear Score to enter. If that happens, don’t start grinding random enemies. XP is no longer the problem. You should instead work on Regional Quests, Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds, Daevanion, Runes, and enemy-continent progression through Space-Time Rifts. This is why I prefer saying that side content is postponed, not skipped. Once Gear Score begins blocking the Episode Quest, that side content becomes the natural solution. After you meet the requirement, clear Draupnir and continue the Episode Quest.

Why Save Odyle Energy for Level 45?

At level 45, Conquest Expeditions become much more relevant. These are harder max-level versions of the Expeditions you already encountered while leveling. Bosses gain additional mechanics, and the rewards are much more appropriate for actual endgame gearing.

Another max-level PvE category is Transcendence Dungeons. These have multiple difficulty levels and focus more heavily on progression resources such as Arcana Cards, while Expeditions lean more toward equipment. Their reward cubes consume the same Odyle Energy, which means you eventually have to decide where that limited resource is most valuable.  That’s why I recommend saving Odyle instead of opening every leveling cube. The resource becomes more useful, not less useful, once you reach the cap.

Finish the Episode Quest and Enter the Abyss

After Draupnir, the Episode Quest eventually sends you toward the Abyss. The Abyss is AION 2’s shared PvPvE region where Elyos and Asmodians occupy the same map, and PvP is always active. Most activities there award Abyss Points, which are the main PvP progression currency. You can spend them on PvP gear, consumables, growth items, and other rewards. Even if you mostly care about PvE, Abyss Points still have progression value, so the system isn’t something you should completely ignore.  Depending on your Gear Score, you may need another round of Regional Quests, Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds, or other permanent progression before the Episode Quest lets you continue. Once you meet the requirement, enter the Abyss and finish the remaining story objectives, which will eventually grant you a unique weapon that marks a natural endpoint for the leveling journey and the transition into AION 2’s endgame.

AION 2 Leveling Tips

If you only remember a few things from this guide, I’d keep these in mind:

  1. Follow the yellow Episode Quests. They are the main leveling route.
  2. Reach your first Expedition quickly. That’s when Odyle Energy recovery becomes relevant.
  3. Use side content to finish Ascension Gauges. Regional Quests, Sealed Dungeons, and Strongholds are the most useful detours.
  4. Prioritize Regional Quests that reward accessories. They help with later Gear Score requirements.
  5. Don’t grind leveling dungeons for gear. Exploration rewards become outdated quickly.
  6. Save Odyle Energy. I recommend spending it on more valuable max-level dungeon rewards instead.
  7. Don’t actively hunt every Feather while rushing. Grab the convenient ones and return later.
  8. Don’t heavily enhance temporary leveling gear.
  9. Level 45 is not necessarily the end of the Episode Quest. Expect Gear Score requirements afterward.
  10. Skipping side content really means postponing it. Much of AION 2’s map content contributes permanent character progression.

The full route is straightforward: Episode Quest → Krao Cave → first Ascension → Urugugu Canyon → second Ascension → Fire Temple → level 45 → third Ascension → permanent progression cleanup → Draupnir → Abyss → finish the Episode Quest.

F.A.Q.

What is the maximum level in Aion 2?

The current Global level cap is 45. You will usually reach level 45 before fully finishing the Episode Quest, so some story and Gear Score progression continues afterward.

How long does it take to get level 45 in Aion 2?

If you just focus on the story quests, it will take 3-4 hours to reach level 45 for an average player. New players may take longer if they explore, complete Regional Quests, collect Feathers, or clear more side content along the way.

What are Ascension quests in Aion 2?

Ascension quests are major progression checkpoints tied to the Episode Quest. To complete an Ascension, you usually need to finish its required quest and fill the Ascension Gauge to 100% through activities such as Regional Quests, Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds, and story progression.

How to level up fast in Aion 2?

The fastest way to level is to focus on yellow Episode Quests and only stop for side content when an Ascension Gauge or Gear Score requirement blocks you. I recommend prioritizing Regional Quests with useful accessories, nearby Sealed Dungeons, and Strongholds instead of clearing the whole map while leveling.

How to get better wings in Aion 2?

You upgrade your Daeva Wings by progressing through the Ascension quest chain. The main upgrades are Lesser Wings from The One Who Perceives, Intermediate Wings from The One Who Hears the Voice, Superior Wings from The One Who Dreams, and Ultimate Wings from The One Who Witnesses the Nightmare.
