It may look like a dump of all known builds, but if you look at the S-tier builds in multiple categories, you’ll start seeing a pattern. But as far as ladder starters go, the most build variety comes from Sorceress and Warlock, with a few great choices if you’re playing as Paladin or Amazon.

Blizzard Sorc

Blizzard Sorc is one of the strongest ladder starters because it does not need expensive gear to start farming useful targets. The build mainly revolves around placing Blizzard in the enemy’s path, then making monsters walk through the falling ice. This gives it strong area damage, solid crowd control, and a safe farming pattern if you keep moving.

The core idea is simple: use Blizzard as your main damage skill, then fill the downtime with Ice Blast against bosses or tougher enemies. Glacial Spike gives the build extra safety by freezing groups, which is especially useful when packs get too close. Teleport is the real reason this build feels so fast early, since it lets you reach bosses like Andariel, Mephisto, and Pindleskin much quicker than most classes.

Skill

Role in the Build

Blizzard

Main AoE damage skill

Ice Blast

Single-target damage during Blizzard cooldown

Glacial Spike

Freezes dangerous enemy packs

Teleport

Fast travel and repositioning

Static Field

Cuts down boss health quickly

Cold Mastery

Improves Cold damage against resistant enemies

The biggest downside is survivability. Blizzard Sorc is powerful, but she is also squishy, so good positioning matters a lot. You want to stay at range, cast Blizzard slightly ahead of enemies, and use Teleport before mobs can trap you in hit recovery.

Fist of the Heavens Paladin

Fist of the Heavens Paladin works like a ranged elite hunter with great density clear against the right monster types. Fist of the Heavens hits a target with Lightning damage, then releases Holy Bolts that damage Demons and Undead. Since many strong farming zones are full of those enemy types, FoH Paladin can delete packs from a safe distance.

The build also has strong support tools. Conviction lowers enemy defenses and elemental resistances, while Holy Shield improves defense and block chance. Holy Bolt adds another layer of utility because it damages Demons and Undead, even if they are Magic Immune, and it can also heal your Mercenary or allies.

Skill or Aura

Role in the Build

Fist of the Heavens

Main ranged damage skill

Holy Bolt

Clears Demons and Undead, also heals allies

Conviction

Lowers enemy resistances and defense

Holy Shield

Improves block chance and defense

Vigor

Helps with movement before Enigma

Charge

Extra mobility while farming

This build is S-tier because it combines range, safety, and strong farming speed in Demon-heavy and Undead-heavy areas. It does ask for more active play than a simple caster build, but once the rhythm clicks, it becomes one of the smoothest ladder starters in Season 14.

Hydra Sorc

Hydra Sorc is a strong ladder starter because it lets you deal damage while staying mobile. Instead of standing still and casting into danger, you place Hydras around the fight and let them fire at enemies for you. This makes the build especially good for bossing, key farming, and early Mephisto runs.

The basic loop is to stack Hydras near the target, reposition with Teleport, and use Fire Ball to finish anything that survives. Static Field helps bring down bosses and high-health enemies faster, while Frost Nova gives you breathing room when monsters rush you. Telekinesis can also help control Fire Immune enemies while your Mercenary deals with them.

Skill

Role in the Build

Hydra

Main placed damage source

Fire Ball

Active damage and cleanup skill

Static Field

Reduces boss and pack health

Frost Nova

Slows enemies and creates space

Teleport

Movement and Mercenary repositioning

Telekinesis

Utility and immune control

Hydra Sorc is not the fastest full-screen clearer, but it is reliable and cheap to start. Its damage pattern is also forgiving because Hydras keep attacking while you move, dodge, or set up the next cast. That makes it a strong pick for players who want a safer Fire-based Sorceress starter.

Fire Ball Meteor Sorc

Fire Ball Meteor Sorc is a classic high-damage ladder starter. It uses Meteor for heavy delayed damage and Fire Ball for faster, direct AoE damage. Early on, Meteor does a lot of the heavy lifting, but Fire Ball becomes the smoother main skill as the build gains levels and better gear.

The main challenge is timing. Meteor has a delay before impact, so you want to cast it on top of stationary targets or slightly ahead of moving enemies. Fire Ball fills the gaps with fast damage, while Static Field helps shred boss health before your Fire damage finishes the job. Teleport keeps the build fast, but you still need careful spacing because this Sorc is not very durable.

Skill

Role in the Build

Meteor

Heavy delayed Fire damage

Fire Ball

Fast AoE damage and main late-game cast

Static Field

Quickly lowers boss health

Teleport

Fast farming and repositioning

Telekinesis

Utility and enemy control

Frozen Armor

Extra safety against melee hits

This build is S-tier because it hits very hard with limited gear and can farm important early targets efficiently. It takes a bit more practice than Blizzard Sorc or Hydra Sorc, but the reward is excellent raw damage, strong Magic Find potential, and good scaling into later stages of the season.

D2R Best Endgame Builds Tier List

Rating the endgame builds is a bit different, since most builds focus on something very specific - farming specific bosses or areas. However, some build a naturally versatile one, allowing you to switch up your farming routine every now and then. So, the highest-ranked builds for D2R S14 are those that are the most versatile.

Tier

Builds

S Tier

Lightning Fury Amazon, Lightning Sorc, Blessed Hammer Paladin, Blizzard Sorc, Echoing Strike Warlock, Fist of the Heavens Paladin, Fire Ball Meteor Sorc, Smite Paladin, Nova Sorc, Berserk Barbarian, Gold Find Barbarian, Poison Nova Necro, Fire Warlock, Lightning Sentry Assassin, Fissure Druid

A Tier

Lightning Strike Amazon, Dream Paladin, Abyss Warlock, Enchant Sorc, Strafe Amazon, Double Throw Barbarian, Fire Blast Assassin, Wake of Fire Assassin, Summon Necro, Dragon Talon Assassin, Mirrored Blades Warlock, Tainted Summoner Warlock

B Tier

Blood Boil Warlock, Zeal Paladin, Tornado Druid, Holy Fire Paladin, Frost Nova Sorc, War Cry Barbarian, Hydra Sorc, Frenzy Barbarian, Fire Wall Sorc, Dragon Tail Assassin, Frozen Orb Sorc, Meteor Frozen Orb Sorc, Summoner Warlock, Multiple Shot Amazon

C Tier

Freezing Arrow Amazon, Leap Attack Barbarian, Exploding Arrow Amazon, Whirlwind Barbarian, Plague Javelin Amazon, Werebear Sorc, Summon Druid, Zeal Sorc, Fury Druid, Bone Spear Necro, Blade Assassin

D Tier

Jab Fend Amazon, Maul Druid, Rift Assassin, Fire Claws Druid, Whirlwind Assassin, Phoenix Strike Assassin, Rabies Druid, Werewolf Barbarian

Again, after a closer look, I’m sure you’ll notice that 4 classes stand out the most - Sorc, Paladin, Amazon, and Warlock. These classes have some of the strongest builds for endgame. But if you’re someone who is not interested in those builds or classes, S-tier does have builds for Assassin, Druid, and Barbarian. It’s just that the variety of highly-ranked builds for these classes is way lower.

D2R Best Builds for Uber Farming Tier List

A lot of players enjoy hunting down and defeating Uber bosses in D2R, and that requires a specific type of build. You’re going to want a build that can kill those bosses fast and is capable of surviving them as well. That’s what this tier list is about.

Tier

Builds

S Tier

Smite Paladin, Mirrored Blades Warlock, Lightning Strike Amazon, Dragon Talon Assassin, Lightning Fury Amazon, Echoing Strike Warlock

A Tier

Zeal Paladin, Fire Ball Meteor Sorc, Dream Paladin, Fire Wall Sorc, Tainted Summoner Warlock

B Tier

Frenzy Barbarian, Lightning Sorc

C Tier

Werebear Sorc, Fury Druid, Zeal Sorc, Summon Druid, Summon Necro, Fissure Druid, Jab Fend Amazon

D Tier

Maul Druid, Whirlwind Barbarian, Holy Fire Paladin, Blade Assassin, Werewolf Barbarian

The highest-ranked builds for Uber boss farming are actually not the greatest league starter builds. If you look up the build name, you’ll see that, for example, Smite Paladin is S-tier in this tier list, but only C-tier as a league starter build. And now wonder - this build sucks when you’re just starting to play, but it does become increasingly more powerful as soon as you get all the ingredients.

D2R Best Builds for Each Class in Season 14

Every time a new season comes out, or when I actually want to go back to play the game again, I suffer from being unable to decide which class to play. So, here is the list that names the best build for each class. These builds might be good for different things, but rest assured that all of them are s-tier in something.

Class

Best Season 14 Build

Great For

Amazon

Lightning Fury Amazon

Endgame and Uber Farming

Assassin

Dragon Talon Assassin

Uber Farming

Barbarian

Berserk Barbarian

Endgame Farming

Druid

Fissure Druid

Endgame Farming

Necromancer

Summon Necro

Endgame Farming

Paladin

Smite Paladin

Endgame and Uber Farming

Sorceress

Fire Ball Meteor Sorc

Ladder Start and Endgame Farming

Warlock

Echoing Strike Warlock

Endgame and Uber Farming

Now, you can simply look up each of these builds and see what they’re made of. Although I can’t ignore the fact that Echoing Strike Warlock has been nerfed in patch 3.2, it has suffered an overall damage reduction of about 12-13%. This just means that the build was severely overpowered before, and now it has been brought back from the sky, metaphorically speaking. If you fear these nerfs, then a solid alternative would be the Abyss or Summoner builds.

Remember, you can always respec and change a build with a Token of Absolution by farming boss essences on Hell difficulty.

How These Tier Lists Work

I’ve given you 3 different tier lists, each of which focuses on ranking builds for different purposes in Season 14 of Diablo 2 Resurrected, but I never explained what the tiers actually mean. First of all, I have to admit that most of this data comes from various community-made sources - it’s not like I’ve played every build myself. And since these tier lists are different by purpose, the definition of tiers is also unique to each one. Here’s what they all mean:

Tier

Ladder Start Meaning

Endgame Meaning

Uber Farming Meaning

S Tier

Easiest builds to start S14 with. They need very little to get going and reach the endgame

Top meta builds for late-game farming. Should be effective at all endgame activities.

Best Uber killers. These builds are fast, safe, and reliable against Uber bosses.

A Tier

Great league starts that might need a few hard-to-find items to make them work

Excellent endgame builds that are only slightly less effective than S-tier.

Very good Uber builds, but they usually need some hard-to-obtain items to work well.

B Tier

Solid low-level builds that get the job done. Not as effective as higher-tier ones.

Solid builds that are great at something specific, like farming certain areas or bosses.

Usable Uber builds with proper gear, but not as consistent as higher tiers.

C Tier

Builds that can be made effective early on, although with some extra effort.

Niche endgame builds that are made with one specific purpose.

Off-meta Uber builds that can clear, but may struggle with safety or speed.

D Tier

The least favorable builds to start playing with.

Not the greatest or least effective endgame builds.

The least reliable Uber farming builds from this list.

I’m specifically avoiding going into too much detail here, as I wanted to keep these tier lists pretty light. The main purpose was to inform you of the current meta in terms of builds, not give you a build-by-build breakdown. Also, the usual disclaimer applies - all tier lists are to be taken with a grain of salt.
