Best FC 27 Wonderkids

There are two kinds of wonderkids in Career Mode. The first are players like Yamal who are technically young, but already cost enough to bankrupt half the clubs in Europe. Then you have players like Camarda, Quenda, or Mora. Their cost is much lower, they need actual development and are usually way more fun to use in your save. In this part of the guide, I’m gonna list the wonderkids you really want to look out for. Warning! This list isn’t a straightforward top list taken from some popular FC-dedicated website. There’s gonna be a lot of my own opinion, and I usually value growth potential more than an out-of-the-box performance. I’m not a contrarian, though, so I’m not gonna remove the strongest FC 27 players just cause they don’t fit my tastes. Obviously, this list is not exhaustive, as there are far more players than I can fit into this article, but I believe these players are more than you can wish for. Current FC 27 database listings have Yamal at 90/95, Cubarsí at 86/91, and Estêvão around 80/90. Now, the Potential column doesn’t signify a player’s ceiling. It’s just a rough estimation that can be heavily influenced by the newly introduced Dynamic Potential system. Now these ratings aren’t a guaranteed final point, and you can go well above the potential. This also means that your wonderkid you’ve invested so hard in will underperform. On another note, this ranking doesn’t mean that the bottom player is wack. I rated them based on their future potential, cause that’s what you ultimately want to get to. If I were to rank them on their growth alone, Francesco Camarda would be #1, but there are so many moving parts to take into consideration that you just can’t have it all.

Lamine Yamal - Best Wonderkid in FC 27

There really isn’t much debate. Everybody saw what happened at the World Cup. Yamal starts around 90 OVR with 95 Potential, which basically makes him a finished world-class player who just so happens to still be a teenager. His strongest areas are exactly what you’d expect:

• 90 Dribbling
• 86 Pace
• 87 Passing
• Multiple attacking PlayStyles

In one recent Reddit scouting discussion, the consensus was that comparing other young players to him is almost pointless because he’s already performing at the top level. The only downside in Career Mode is that he costs a ludicrous amount of money. If you’re doing a Real Madrid, City, PSG, or any other superclub save and just want the best young attacker available, go for it. If you tryna make Coventry a Champions League winner, don’t.

Désiré Doué - Best Young Attacker Not Named Lamine Yamal

Doué is the first player I recommend to look at if you want an elite young attacker without just buying Yamal. He’s 86 OVR with 92 Potential, has 89 Dribbling, and can play RW, LW, CM, and RM. His roles are Wide Playmaker, Inside Forward, Winger, and Box-to-Box. His insane flexibility is the main reason you want to pick him. You’re not buying one position. You’re buying a flexible player who can move around as your formation changes. He’s still expensive as hell, so this isn’t exactly a budget recommendation. But if I’m spending big money on one young attacker, Doué is what you’d call a bang for the buck, rather than another specialist winger.

Pau Cubarsí - Best Young CB

Cubarsí is the CB that you buy, place in your team, and forget about ever touching this position for the rest of the save. His stats:

• 86 OVR and 91 Potential
• 84 Defending
• 82 Physical
• 85 Passing

Plus, a Ball-Playing Defender++ already available right from the get-go. His passing is what separates him from other young CBs. The downside is price, yet again. It’s not a cheap defender, going for €88.5m, but if you want to get the safest young CB in FC 27, he’s him.

Estêvão - Best High-Upside Winger

Alright, now that we’re done with our undisputed top 3, this is where the list starts getting interesting. Here’s where we start taking money into consideration. Estêvão’s notable stats are: 

• 80 OVR with 90 Potential
• 89 Pace
• 84 Dribbling

His PlayStyles include Finesse Shot, Technical, Quick Step, and Inventive. A +10 growth is really good, but wait till you see Camarda. I mean, you already saw his growth, but wait till I describe him later. He’s a lot more interesting to acquire, since there’s still something to develop. It’s not a ready-made solution. The hype around him is real. Fan discussion around Estêvão has been ridiculous for a while now, with Brazilian fans calling him one of the strongest prospects of his generation and Chelsea supporters having high hopes for this future star. A contract with him will set you back €45.5m. It’s not cheap, but it’s a pretty decent deal.

Arda Güler - Best Young Playmaker

Arda is an awesome center field player. He’s already 83 OVR with 89 Potential, so the raw growth isn’t huge, but as I said, don’t forget about Dynamic Potential. His profile fits CAM or attacking CM much better than a generic pace winger. His appeal lies in:

• 85 passing
• 84 dribbling
• Good long shots
• Creative PlayStyles
• Multiple midfield and wide positions

His pace and shooting are good, but not crazy, both sitting at 77. He’s a great playmaker who will bounce off others rather than landing crazy goals himself.

Endrick - Best Young Striker for a Big Club

Despite Endrick’s potential drop over the course of the FC franchise, he is still one of the best young forwards. His Potential keeps dropping slowly:

• FC 25: 91 POT
• FC 26: 89 POT
• FC 27: 88 POT

This year, he starts at 79 OVR with 88 Potential. That sounds worse than it is, and it’s kinda sad for his actual career, but the game card itself is still very usable:

• 87 Pace
• 80 Finishing
• 88 Shot Power
• 81 Dribbling
• 75 Physical

So you don’t need to hide him on loan for two seasons. If you need a striker who can start contributing immediately and still has plenty of room to grow, he’s one of the better contracts to sign. He sits at a sharp €38m.

Geovany Quenda - Best Value Winger

Quenda is much closer to what I envision for a Career Mode wonderkid. Good value, plus great growth potential. He starts at 76 OVR with 88 Potential, giving you +12 growth, and already has 86 Pace plus solid Dribbling. He can play:

• RM
• LM
• CAM
• RW

Players keep bringing him up in young-player threads, and he’s regularly mentioned as one of the better U21 signings once you get away from the obvious superstars. For a save you’re gonna play long for, buy Quenda rather than spend three times as much on someone who is already 85+.

Mikey Moore - Best Growth Project

Moore is 74 OVR with 88 Potential, with a huge +14 growth. He can play LW, LM, CAM, and CM, which is quite flexible if you want to experiment with his development. If you’re someone who wants to have a great player out of the box, he’s not for you. He gets there eventually, and that’s why I suggest buying him. I think one of the biggest parts of the Career Mode is finding these diamonds in the rough and turning them into crown jewels. People on Reddit recommend getting Moore for rebuild saves, in particular, as someone you can develop into a starting winger over the course of multiple seasons. Even though you might disagree with this pick, I believe this is a much more satisfying signing than buying someone who already has 88 OVR.

Gilberto Mora - Best Hidden Gem

Mora is my absolute favorite low-cost pick on the list. He’s only 17, starts at 74 OVR, and has 87 Potential, having a +13 growth. His positions are quite useful:

• CAM
• LW
• CM
• LM

He already has 76 Dribbling and 75 Passing, so he isn’t useless while you wait for the development. Ain’t the strongest player, but he eventually gets there. It’s not a name you see often in the discussions, but I think it’s a mistake. Gilberto Mora is the poster boy for a discovered player rather than a database purchase. Give him some love in your save.

Francesco Camarda - Best Cheap Striker Wonderkid

If you want to see a rags-to-riches player, Camarda is your choice. He starts at a measly 66 OVR but has 87 Potential, which gives you an insane +21 growth. His current value is only around €2.7 million, so he’s also in a completely different price bracket from most of this list. Here’s what he already has:

• 76 Pace
• 68 Finishing
• 69 Strength
• Advanced Forward+

Would I sign him for a Champions League contender and expect 30 goals immediately? No, of course not. For a Championship, Serie B, lower-table Serie A, or long rebuild save, you can’t go wrong. Once again, if you want to buy him for one of the top clubs, don’t do it if you don’t want to break this fella.

 

 

Best FC 27 Wonderkids by Position

If you need a quick overview of wonderkids by position rather than just an OVR stat and potential, below is the table with players and their best positions. Note that I’ve split the table. The second column shows a player who already works well in this direction, and the third column shows better future players for the position. Now that we have this covered, let me talk a little about some hidden gems that will make you feel like that one gif with “gem alert” you constantly see in comments on media platforms.

Best Cheap FC 27 Wonderkids and Hidden Gems

Fair warning: if you’re playing one of the superclubs, this list is not for you. You’re gonna have a hard time developing these dudes, and they’re more likely to never reach their potential because of that. If you have a more modest choice, here’s a quick reference of the best cheap FC 27 wonderkids:

• Francesco Camarda: 66 OVR/87 POT
• Gilberto Mora: 74/87
• Mikey Moore: 74/88
• Geovany Quenda: 76/88

As a lower-tier club, you want to look for options that won’t bankrupt your club. Don’t forget that football is a team game, and one player can do really well, but with the rest of your team made up of backwater nobodies, you won’t get far. Here’s how I’d describe each of the players mentioned in this section:

• Camarda is the cheapest and biggest project
• Mora is your choice for a technical midfielder
• Moore has the biggest winger growth
• Quenda is the safest choice, because he already starts with enough Pace and Dribbling to actually use straight away

Remember that you don’t have an endless budget. Be strategic, and you’ll see your wonderkids become huge stars.

 

 

How Potential Works in FC 27 Career Mode

One of the things that has changed in FC 27 is Potential. It isn’t as rigid as it used to be. The number in the table is the player’s starting Career Mode potential, not a guarantee that he stops growing the second he reaches it. FC 27 development now responds more heavily to:

• Form
• Game time
• Morale
• Injuries
• Development decisions
• Performance consistency

With these changes, the correct choice of wonderkids is even more emphasized than before. So don’t buy five wonderkids and make four of them defend the bench. If you want your wonderkids to become future legends, give them time and space.
