AION 2 Best Classes Tier List

In this Aion 2 Class Tier List, I ranked classes based on how much damage they deal in PvE. Their PvP ranking is based on the leaderboards. With this tier list, it should be easier to pick your main.

Aion 2 Best Classes Tier List Quick Overview:

  1. All classes in the game can deal enough damage to be ranked
  2. Different classes perform differently in various PvE activities and fights
  3. There’s mass PvP, and there are arenas, so there are classes that are better in small-scale PvP and those better in large-scale PvP.
  4. The game receives balancing patches almost every week; there isn’t a tier list that can be considered final.
  5. Pick the class based on its style and vibe rather than DPS ranking

Aion 2 Best PvE Classes Tier List

In AION 2, you have the classic holy trinity of classes: DPS, tank, support. The only difference is that, unlike in other traditional MMORPGs, in AION 2 tanks and support classes can deal respectable damage, so they can’t just only tank or only heal.

So, for this tier list, I ranked classes by how much DPS they can do across the PvE activities tracked by NotMeter instead of using one boss or target dummy parse. This gives a better picture of how each class performs across different encounter types. This game is still very PvE-focused, and you do need that damage no matter what class you play.

Tier

Classes

S-tier

Assassin, Sorcerer

A-tier

Spiritmaster, Ranger

B-tier

Gladiator, Chanter

C-tier

Templar, Cleric

By the way, a “dummy parse” is just a DPS test against a stationary training target.

In practice, the player attacks a target dummy for a fixed time, like 60 seconds, and the game/logging tool records how much DPS they did. It shows a class’s potential in ideal conditions because there are no boss mechanics, movement, downtime, or positioning problems. As for classes,

Assassin is one of the highest damage dealers in the game, especially in short fights with enough support from the team. Hardcore and Insignia Explosion together can make up more than 60% of its total DPS, which helps explain why Assassin performs so well in short encounters. His damage is particularly off the charts if you manage to stay behind the target and use that backstab bonus.

Sorcerer also sits in S Tier because its recent dungeon and raid performance has been consistently high. This is the highest damage-dealing ranged class in the game currently. If the encounter doesn’t require a lot of movement, Sorcs are second to none.

Spiritmaster is in A Tier because, in perfect conditions (the dummy test), numbers can look less impressive, but in real dungeon and raid encounters, the class actually is better, which is kind of counterintuitive. But the facts speak for themselves; check the rankings.

Ranger is one of the most consistent ranged classes. So what I mean by this is that Ranger is capable of dealing damage for longer periods of time than other classes, and that comes in handy in late-game content where fights actually take longer to finish.

Gladiator, my baby, drops to B Tier because he is great on paper (dummy test) but kind of shit in dungeon runs. Recent one-minute training tests reached 10.12M peak DPS, with the upper 25% averaging around 5.9M. But that’s not the same number in those dungeons. He is a mix of damage dealer and tank, and sometimes he is used as a second-hand tank rather than a damage dealer.

Chanter can actually deal a pretty impressive amount of DPS, although it's still not as high as other, more dedicated DDs. That being said, this class is more valued for its buffs and not the damage it can deal.

Templar is currently near the bottom in average DPS because its the main tank in the game. Although some high-skill players have managed to make this class outperform gladiators and assassins. Mayhaps in the future we’ll see patches that make Templars better at DPS.

Cleric deals the least damage on average, which puts it in C Tier. It’s not like you’re going to be suffering when leveling and going through the PvE content, and the fact that you’re the only dedicated healer in the game means you’ll always have a party to play with. Still, not that great DPS compared to other classes, but still good enough for this game’s content.

These rankings are only a late-September 2026 snapshot from the Korean servers. Class balance changes frequently, different activities favor different damage profiles, and Global launch scaling may produce a different order.

Aion 2 Best PvP Classes Tier List

For PvP, I use Questlog leaderboard data instead of PvE damage logs. Questlog tracks competitive performance across Solo Arena, Team Arena, and Abyss, so I average results across these modes rather than judging classes from only one type of PvP.

Tier

Classes

S-tier

Gladiator, Assassin

A-tier

Templar, Cleric, Sorcerer

B-tier

Chanter, Ranger, Spiritmaster

There aren’t that many sources where you can reliably look up leaderboards or PvP stats, so my options for ranking classes for PvP are kind of limited. Still, here’s what I found.

Gladiator is my best overall PvP pick because it combines high damage, durability, mobility, and active blocking. It performs well without needing a very specific team setup.

Assassin also earns S Tier thanks to its burst and mobility. It is especially dangerous in fights where quickly eliminating one target decides the engagement.

Templar sits in A Tier because its durability and control become more valuable in organized PvP. It is less explosive than the S Tier classes but much harder to remove.

Cleric also belongs in A Tier. Healing and recovery can decide coordinated fights even if its personal damage is lower.

Sorcerer earns A Tier through great ranged pressure and burst. It can contribute safely from distance and performs well across several PvP modes.

Chanter lands in B Tier because its value depends more heavily on team coordination. Its damage and support package becomes even better when teammates can fully use its buffs.

Ranger is another B Tier class. It provides reliable ranged pressure, but its kit has fewer fight-changing tools than the classes above.

Spiritmaster also sits in B Tier. Its results vary more between PvP modes, so its average placement is lower than its best individual showing.

I would treat this PvP list as even more volatile than the PvE one. Solo Arena, Team Arena, and Abyss reward different strengths, while gear, Combat Power, player skill, team composition, and class popularity can all affect leaderboard results. These are also KR/TW rankings, not guaranteed Global launch balance.

Best Class For Solo Players in AION 2

My pick for solo players is Gladiator. It combines high damage, tank-level durability, active blocking, mobility, and life-leech effects. That makes it very forgiving when there is nobody else around to tank or support you.

I would not overthink solo class choice, though. AION 2 is already very solo-friendly, and most leveling, exploration, quests, collectibles, and world progression can be completed comfortably on any class.

Best Class For Beginners in AION 2

My beginner pick is Templar. It has high durability, shields, active block, good mobility, and a simple damage cycle. The class is forgiving enough that I can focus more on boss mechanics than on executing a complicated rotation. AION 2 is fairly beginner-friendly in general. Its combat is fast, but the execution floor is low because skill chains and macros let many rotations run through only a few repeated inputs. The main extra responsibility with Templar is boss positioning when tanking group content. Outside of that, it is one of the easiest classes to learn and survive with.

How This Tier List Works

I’m going to say it one more time: this is a DPS tier list across all eight AION 2 launch classes. I am comparing how much damage every class deals, including tanks and supports, because all classes are designed to actively attack and contribute meaningful DPS.

I use NotMeter because it tracks real combat data across different bosses and activities. NotMeter compares classes using the P75 threshold, meaning the point where 75% of recorded runs fall below that result. Its CP-adjusted model only compares players within the same boss and 10K Combat Power bracket, and a score of 105 means a class performed about 5% above the median under those conditions. NotMeter also requires minimum sample sizes before showing confidence grades.

But you also have to take into account different encounter types. Short encounters require burst damage; in longer fights, you need to keep dealing damage, and melee classes can lose damage when mechanics interrupt frontal or rear positioning. So, this tier list is more of an average rank of classes and how they demonstrate themselves (or rather the players that use them) in all PvE content types.

Tier

Meaning

S-tier

Usually among the best DPS dealers across all PvE activities.

A-tier

Classes capable of dealing high damage with fewer top finishes.

B-tier

Competitive DPS, but more dependent on the encounter or current balance.

C-tier

Lower average DPS compared with the rest of the roster.

I do not use D or F Tier because the overall damage gap between AION 2 classes is relatively small. Even the lowest-ranked classes still deal respectable damage.

F.A.Q.

What is the best class in AION 2?

There is no single best class for every activity. Assassin and Sorcerer currently stand out for PvE damage, while Gladiator and Assassin perform especially well in PvP. Balance also changes frequently, so I would pick around playstyle rather than one temporary ranking.

Can support classes deal damage in AION 2?

Yes. AION 2 is designed so every class contributes meaningful DPS, including Chanter and Cleric. Chanter can get surprisingly close to dedicated DPS classes, while Cleric still deals respectable damage while healing and supporting the party.

What is the easiest class in AION 2?

Gladiator is one of the easiest classes mechanically. Its rotation is very straightforward, much of its damage comes from a few core skills, and its durability makes mistakes less punishing.

What is the most difficult class in AION 2?

Assassin is probably the most demanding class to play well. It relies heavily on back attacks, buff management, cooldown reduction, and maintaining positional uptime, so mistakes can hurt its damage more than on most other classes.

Which class is the most beginner-friendly in AION 2?

Templar is my beginner-friendly pick. It has high durability, shields, active blocking, good mobility, and a simple damage cycle, giving new players more room to focus on mechanics instead of rotation complexity.
