Apex Legends Gun Tier List for Season 30

Many players argue whether the changes brought actually impact the weapon meta in Season 30. I honestly think that they do. Several short-range weapons got hit quite hard, and you can no longer rely on them that blindly. I’m now talking about R-99 and Alternator specifically, as they’ve lost damage, and the second one also lost mag size. Hemlok has also gone from S-Tier to A-Tier due to another nerf. Seems like the developers didn’t work on it enough last season, lol. Here’s my complete Apex Legends gun tier list for Season 30:

Tier

Weapons

S

Wingman, Triple Take, Prowler, Peacekeeper, Nemesis, Flatline, Volt

A

Hemlok Breach AR, R-301, R-99, Alternator, Havoc, Mastiff, EVA-8, Mozambique, C.A.R.

B

RE-45, G7 Scout, P2020, Longbow, Devotion, Spitfire, Bocek

C

Rampage, Sentinel

D

Charge Rifle

Mythic

30-30 Repeater, L-STAR, Kraber

Together with Hemlok, R-99 and Alternator also drop out from S-Tier. It’s been a while since I’ve seen them in A-Tier, not gonna lie. But I don’t want to rank Apex guns by old muscle memory. They no longer belong to S-Tier, and this season finally changes the weapon meta.

Best Weapons in Apex Legends Season 30

Just like in any other season, I’ve ranked the weapons by how they perform when used with no attachments. Exactly that’s why you see guns like Wingman and Triple Take sitting in S-Tier, for instance. They’re just strong if you can hit enemies. But you should also remember that specific guns become more powerful when you get certain attachments. The numbers just go crazy, and yet you still gotta hit those shots. So far, here are the best weapons in Apex Legends in Season 30:

  • Wingman
  • Triple Take
  • Prowler
  • Peacekeeper
  • Nemesis
  • Flatline
  • Volt

This list now has fewer pure spray weapons than Season 29. That’s not a random thing to happen. The developers have been trying to nerf short-range SMGs for several seasons now. And they’ve finally succeeded. The guns that have higher damage per shot and remain flexible across different ranges are now taking their place in S-Tier. It doesn’t matter if you’re playing the most meta Legends in this season, as the gun you’re holding still plays a bigger role than any ability you’ll possibly use.

Wingman

I now feel more comfortable playing with Wingman because fewer players would spray my face a second after I get this gun in my hands. But you still have to learn aim and land your shots with it. Your damage hasn’t changed, and you’ll do from 63 to 86 headshot damage, depending on what helmet an enemy is wearing. That allows you to take an enemy in just two hits even if they have 100 HP.

It also pairs well with almost anything. You can run it with an SMG, shotgun, rifle, or even Triple Take from S-Tier, lol. I also personally like it during the early game. You don’t need many bullets, and can easily take down an enemy with one magazine. But only if you land your shots correctly, yeah. Wingman’s average TTK is still 1.15 to 1.54 seconds, and that’s nothing if you hit your enemy consistently.

Triple Take

I enjoy running with Triple Take to poke and crack from afar. I use it to create extra space for my team before we begin a closer-range fight. But it definitely sucks as a sniper. It’s only good as a pressure tool, and you can make someone from behind cover struggle. By landing a headshot, you can deal from 81 to 102 damage, depending on the helmet type. Its TTK is also around 1.15 seconds, and that brings us to quite a similar conclusion, just like with Wingman. You gotta hit your shots, and you’ll love this weapon.

Prowler

Prowler stays as one of the biggest winners for me as of Season 30. It’s been strong enough, and it hasn’t been nerfed like other SMGs on the list. Other short-range guns simply got worse compared to it. I’ve gotten used to the burst pattern, and yet it might feel awkward for those who have never played with this gun before. But trust me, it’s very strong, especially in situations when you catch someone entering a doorway, climbing, healing, or sliding into a fight without full information.

Also, compare it to R-99, and you’ll see why it’s so different from any other spray-type SMG. Instead of spraying for long, you just hit a few bursts, and your enemy is down. I’m now using Prowler as my main close-range gun in ranked, and I honestly don’t see any reason for you not to do the same.

Peacekeeper

Peacekeeper is now moving to S-Tier, and it also happens thanks to the massive short-range guns nerf. Shotguns can now take their place, and Peacekeeper is the first on the list here. One huge shot can turn a bad push into a winning one. It also works well with movement because you don’t need to expose yourself for long. Slide in, shoot, slide out, reset behind cover.

This shotgun also brings an impressive TTK of around 1.0 to 1.1 seconds. Theoretically, you can take down an enemy with just two body shots. But you have to land your shots properly rather than just spraying like you usually did with an SMG. And you also gotta have another gun to swap to when Peacekeeper becomes weaker at a distance. Nemesis or Flatline would do just fine in a situation like this.

Nemesis

Nemesis stays as one of the best rifles in Apex Legends Season 30 for me. It works after a second you get it from the ground. You don’t need any attachments or get to know its shooting pattern. You can hold angles, punish bad rotations, and force players off cover before your team pushes.

I don’t think Nemesis is always the easiest weapon for complete beginners, but it’s worth learning for sure. I would probably use Nemesis over Hemlok in Season 30 in most situations. As for the damage, you’d need two bursts to the body to take down an enemy with no shield. And only three bursts would be needed to take down an enemy with Blue, Purple, or Red shields.

Flatline

Flatline does 18 damage to the body and 32 to the head, but only 14 to the legs. It works in most situations, as it’s easy to handle for me. I also use it when I don’t know what range I will have most of my gunfights on. You’ll have to get used to its recoil a bit, but it’s not one of those guns you’ll spend hours learning.

This weapon hasn’t been nerfed this season, and it stays as a decent pick for many scenarios. It’s also a great ranked gun because you can pair it with almost anything. Shotgun, SMG, marksman, pistol. It doesn’t lock you into one exact playstyle.

Volt

Volt hasn’t been nerfed in Season 30, and it’s taking its place in S-Tier instead of R-99 and Alternator here. This is the SMG I would use for close-to-mid-range fights, and it’s my honest recommendation for the current meta. Also, it’s easier to handle compared to Prowler, for example. It might not have the highest damage, but it does have comfortable recoil as a good answer to that.

You’ll have 16 damage to the body, 20 damage to the head, and 13 to the legs. Sounds more than decent to me, though. It’s a very flexible gun, and you can rely on it in most gunfights. Trust me, it’s much stronger than other SMGs you got used to during previous seasons.

Care Package Weapons Ranked

Just like in any other season, a new Care Package weapon replaces another in Season 30. And this type of gun requires its own ranking because they’re not balanced around normal loot rules. As a rule, you’ll take any Care Package gun if you find one. But this season, we’ve got quite an unusual variety to choose from. 30-30 Repeater has replaced G7 Scout, and that’s fine to me, actually. Here’s how I ranked Care Package weapons in Apex Season 30:

Rank

Care Package Weapon

Description

1

30-30 Repeater

Big damage, fast charge, strong reload, and Shattercaps for hipfire

2

L-STAR

Great pressure, strong sustained fights, and scary in extended trades

3

Kraber

Can still decide fights instantly, but only if you land the shots

Nothing to say much about L-STAR and Kraber here, as they’ve been in Care Package already. Go for any of these guns if you know its strong sides. Kraber is just as good as it was in Season 29 because you can punish your enemies with a single shot if landed properly.

As for the 30-30 Repeater, this gun has got 51 damage per shot, faster ADS charge, better reload speed, and Shattercaps for hipfire. Considering the nerf of many strong SMGs, you’ll have an easier time running with this weapon during Season 30. I would pick this up over most floor-loot weapons, especially if my team already has close-range coverage.

Apex Legends Season 30 Weapon Changes

Season 30 has finally done what the devs wanted to do back in Season 29. They did nerf the strongest SMGs. The current meta might slow down a bit just because of that, and I personally love it. I’ve always been a fan of slower gameplay with gunfights happening at a distance. Here’s a full list of weapon changes in Season 30, and how they impact the meta now:

Weapon

Season 30 Change

What It Means

G7 Scout

Returned to floor loot, lost Double Tap, no sniper optics, damage reduced to 33, lower fire rate, smaller mags

Much weaker than its package version

30-30 Repeater

Moved to Care Package, damage increased to 51, faster charge, better reload, Shattercaps added

Huge upgrade and now a top Mythic weapon

Hemlok

Damage reduced to 21, Breach Charge cooldown increased to 30s, lower structure damage

Still good, but not as dominant

Alternator

Damage reduced to 18, Double Tap damage reduced, mag sizes lowered

Quite easy to use anyway, but less forgiving

RE-45

Damage reduced to 16, purple mag reduced to 24

Falls out of top-tier close-range picks

R-99

Damage reduced to 12

Fast enough, but harder to one-clip reliably

Gold Weapons

Gold attachment power is replaced by Corrupted Attachments with stronger tradeoffs

Attachments can give bigger spikes, but they come with real downsides

Devotion

Uses the new battery system with around three magazines in reserve

Less about finding energy ammo, more about managing uptime and spin-up fights

Don’t get me wrong after reading this tier list, though. You can still run R-99 or Alternator, but missed bullets hurt more. You’ve got smaller mags, meaning you can’t spray as blindly as you used to do in Season 29 and before that.

And I also enjoy a lot that they’ve made the 30-30 Repeater to be a Care Package weapon this season. As floor loot, it wasn’t that interesting to me, as I had more decent mid-range options there. But now it does way more damage and gets Shattercaps for hipfire fights.

Energy Weapon Ammo Regen in Season 30

This is probably the biggest thing players need to understand before judging the Season 30 weapon meta.

Energy weapons now use a regenerating internal battery. Energy ammo no longer drops from the ground in the normal way, and you don’t build a backpack full of energy stacks anymore. Instead, the gun carries its own stockpile and slowly refills after you stop firing.

The important part is that the battery regenerates one magazine’s worth of ammo over 18 seconds. For example, a Volt with no extended magazine regenerates 20 shots over 18 seconds.

Weapon

Battery Stockpile

Volt

Around 2 magazines

Nemesis

Around 3 magazines

Devotion

Around 3 magazines

L-STAR

Around 4 magazines

This changes how you play these guns. With Volt, you can no longer spray through one fight, chase another team, and assume you’ll find ammo on the floor. But you also don’t have to beg your squad for energy ammo anymore. If you survive the first trade and wait a bit, the weapon starts feeding itself again.

How I Ranked These Apex Legends Weapons

As a player who’s spent more than 1k hours playing Apex, I know that ranking any weapon is quite a subjective approach. But this is how tier lists work, and you can surely disagree with my placement. Before you do that, let me explain how I ranked Apex Legends weapons for you in this guide:

  • Damage Output: This is the biggest plus for any gun because you want to take down an enemy faster than they do it to you. And having higher damage output is one of the main things that will help you do so.
  • Range Value: Now that SMGs got nerfed again, and quite hard this time, you want to have a gun that can be useful for both close and mid ranges. You’re not that likely to spray and pray like you did in Season 29 anymore.
  • Attachment Needed: I value those weapons that are good as they are. A good gun needs no attachments. That’s why weapons like Wingman are in S-Tier because they only want you to land shots properly.
  • Forgiveness: Those guns that have larger mags and better recoil control are ranked higher, of course. Complete beginners in Apex would have an easier time running with these guns for sure, and veteran players would enjoy them for being able to play more relaxed.
  • Hipfire: Close fights still happen, as Apex wouldn’t be the game we all love and know it if there weren’t any of them. That’s why you wanna take a gun that will help you survive closer-range encounters. For this, you can go for Prowler or Volt, both of which are in S-Tier now.

I’m more than satisfied with these changes, and I personally love what’s happening with the current gun meta in Apex Legends. Have fun playing the game in Season 30, and we’ll see what they’ll bring next.
