Modern Warfare 4 Beta Weapons Tier List

Welcome to the Modern Warfare 4 Beta Weapons Tier List, where I cover all weapons and rank them from best to worst in the current version of the game, which is the beta. The beta version features a limited range of available weapons, but it's the time when the meta gets established.

Modern Warfare 4 Beta Weapons Tier List Quick Overview:

  1. The Modern Warfare 4 Beta features up to 19 weapons, while the full launch arsenal is expected to include 33 weapons across all categories.
  2. Assault Rifles and SMGs look strongest going into the Beta, with versatile weapons likely to dominate the early multiplayer meta.
  3. Axion, ISO Nightshade, and M4 currently lead our predicted S-Tier, based on confirmed weapon characteristics and available pre-Beta information.
  4. VEL 46, Kastov 762, Rezi 12, PPSh-41, Cronen Squall, and Patriot XMR are among the most likely early A-Tier candidates.
  5. This is a Beta prediction tier list. Rankings will change once weapon damage, handling, recoil, attachments, and real multiplayer performance can be tested.

Modern Warfare 4 Beta Weapons Tier List

The Modern Warfare 4 Beta begins on August 21 for Early Access players, giving us our first opportunity to see how Infinity Ward’s new arsenal performs in actual Multiplayer matches. There is not much real match data to work with at the very beginning, but there is already enough information about several weapons to make some educated guesses about the early meta. So, I’m going to do just that, and obviously, the ranking will change once the community shares their opinions and we can actually look up the weapon stats in the game.

One thing worth clearing up first is the number of weapons in the Beta. Weekend One normally gives access to 14 weapons, with the level cap set at 20. Weekend Two raises the level cap to 30 and adds more weapons, bringing the standard Multiplayer Beta arsenal to 19 weapons. There are also three additional weapons accessible through Campaign or specific Default Loadouts.

The confusing part is that we do not yet have a reliable weapon-by-weapon breakdown showing exactly which guns belong to the starting 14 and which five are tied to Levels 21–30. Because of that, I will not arbitrarily separate weapons into Weekend One and Weekend Two categories. Instead, this tier list covers primary weapons that can be tied to the Beta and will expand as the complete arsenal becomes available.

I am also ranking the weapons themselves without factoring Apex Attachments into their base tier placement. Apex Attachments can dramatically alter how certain guns work and will definitely matter when building the best MW4 loadouts. However, I want the primary weapon tier list to reflect how strong each platform is on its own rather than how powerful one special attachment can make it.

Here is my current Modern Warfare 4 Beta primary weapons tier list:

Tier

MW4 Beta Primary Weapons

S-Tier

ISO Nightshade, M4, PPSh-41, KG-7 Vulcan

A-Tier

Han 86, Kastov 762, FiNN LMG, Axion, X-58 Nyx

B-Tier

Hyeon Burst, Rezi 12, Type 73, Signal .50, Patriot XMR

C-Tier

Oris 8.6, MAR-9

D-Tier

S-Tier

ISO Nightshade

The ISO Nightshade is still one of the safest bets for the best gun in the MW4 Beta. It offers the kind of mix every strong SMG wants: high fire rate, great mobility, and enough control to stay dangerous outside pure point-blank range. Even after the recent nerf, it remains one of the most reliable weapons in the current meta. If you want a gun that feels strong in almost every match, the ISO Nightshade is an easy pick.

M4

The M4 is the definition of an all-rounder. It does not lean too hard into any one niche, but that is exactly what makes it so good, since it can handle close, mid, and even some longer-range fights without feeling awkward. Its recoil is manageable, its damage profile is dependable, and its flexibility makes it one of the easiest rifles to recommend. For many players, this will probably be the most comfortable weapon in the Beta.

PPSh-41

The PPSh-41 is one of the most dangerous close-range weapons in the Beta. It thrives in aggressive lobbies, where its rate of fire and forgiving feel let it overwhelm players before they can react properly. What makes it especially strong is that it is not just a gimmick SMG. It has enough consistency to stay relevant even when the fights are not completely in its favor.

KG-7 Vulcan

The KG-7 Vulcan earns its S-Tier spot by being one of the strongest one-shot weapons currently available. It hits extremely hard and gives skilled players a weapon that can take over matches when used well. The reason it ranks this high is that it does not feel as clunky as some heavy precision weapons usually do. If you can aim well and play with confidence, the KG-7 Vulcan is one of the Beta’s scariest options.

A-Tier

Han 86

The Han 86 is a very dependable Assault Rifle that does a bit of everything well. It has the kind of balanced profile that makes it useful in almost any lobby, even if it does not dominate as hard as the top S-Tier weapons. Its biggest strength is consistency. It may not be flashy, but it gives players a stable and versatile rifle that is hard to go wrong with.

Kastov 762

The Kastov 762 remains one of the best high-damage rifles in the Beta. It hits harder than many of the more forgiving ARs, which makes it extremely threatening in medium-range duels. Its recoil is the main thing keeping it out of S-Tier. In the right hands, though, this can absolutely feel like a top-end weapon.

FiNN LMG

The FiNN LMG is one of the better surprises in the Beta. It offers solid sustained fire, strong lane control, and a more usable feel than many players expect from an LMG. It does not quite match the flexibility of the best ARs and SMGs, but for players who like locking down space and holding angles, the FiNN LMG is one of the best heavier weapons available.

Axion

The Axion looks like one of the stronger ARs in the Beta, especially for players who value stability. It has already built a reputation for feeling very controllable, which is a huge advantage in a game where clean recoil patterns matter a lot. The only reason it does not rank even higher is that its Beta access is more limited through a Default Loadout. Even so, it already looks like a very serious contender.

X-58 Nyx

The X-58 Nyx is one of the more promising late-Beta unlocks. It appears to combine strong impact with a controlled, easy-to-use feel, which gives it a lot of upside once more players spend time with it. For now, its placement is a little more provisional than some of the others in A-Tier. Still, everything about it suggests that it has real meta potential.

B-Tier

Hyeon Burst

The Hyeon Burst is a respectable option, but burst-fire rifles usually ask a little more from the player than full-auto weapons do. It can be effective when your shots are clean, though it is generally less forgiving than the top ARs. That makes it solid rather than dominant. Players who like burst weapons may get more out of it than the average player will.

Rezi 12

The Rezi 12 is strong at close range and can be extremely annoying to face on tighter maps. Its semi-auto fire and punchy damage give it a lot of stopping power when fights happen inside its comfort zone. The problem is that it is still a shotgun. Its usefulness drops once the map opens up, which makes it harder to rate alongside the more universal Beta weapons.

Type 73

The Type 73 is not a bad gun, but it does not stand out enough to climb higher. It can put in work when you hold longer lines of sight, yet it lacks the overall comfort and versatility of stronger primaries. In other words, it is usable, but not especially exciting. There are simply better options in most situations.

Signal .50

The Signal .50 has obvious power, but it feels more niche than the KG-7 Vulcan. It can still be very effective in the right hands, especially for players who enjoy heavier precision weapons, but it is not quite as broadly threatening. That makes it more of a specialized pick than a top-tier one. Strong, but not essential.

Patriot XMR

The Patriot XMR looks decent on paper, but it has not done enough yet to separate itself from the better ARs. It feels more like a solid backup choice than a rifle that truly shapes the meta. Its Beta ranking is also a little more tentative because of when it unlocks. It could still rise later, but right now B-Tier feels fair.

C-Tier

Oris 8.6

The Oris 8.6 is a weapon with some upside, but it is difficult to recommend as a general Multiplayer pick. Its lightweight bolt-action style gives it mobility, though it still carries the usual risk of missing a shot and getting punished immediately. The recent nerfs also hurt its case. That makes it more of a niche weapon for confident precision players than a broadly strong meta option.

MAR-9

The MAR-9 is not terrible, but it feels underwhelming compared with the better weapons around it. It does not hit hard enough or feel flexible enough to justify using it over stronger ARs, SMGs, or top-end snipers. Right now, it sits in C-Tier because it struggles to stand out. It can still work, but there is not much reason to prioritize it.

All Confirmed Weapons In Modern Warfare 4 Beta

The Modern Warfare 4 Beta includes 19 standard Multiplayer weapons across nine weapon classes. Fourteen are available through normal progression during Weekend One, while five more become available once the level cap increases to 30 in Weekend Two. There are also three additional weapons accessible through Campaign or specific Default Loadouts, bringing the total number of weapons you can potentially use during the Beta to 22.

The problem is that developers have not yet provided a complete weapon-by-weapon breakdown showing which guns belong to each group. For now, these are the weapons I can confidently confirm by name as part of the Beta:

Category Weapons
Assault Rifles Han 86, M4, Hyeon Burst, Kastov 762, Patriot XMR, Axion*
SMGs ISO Nightshade, PPSh-41, X-58 Nyx, Wz. 55 Striga**
Shotguns Rezi 12
LMGs FiNN LMG, Type 73
Marksman Rifles MAR-9, Oris 8.6
Sniper Rifles KG-7 Vulcan, Signal .50
Pistols Krait P68, .50 GS, Sang 9mm*
Launchers PILA
Melee Combat Knife

The devs specifically stated that Vault Edition owners can immediately test the base versions of all five Signature Collection weapons during the Beta.

The Han 86 is also directly connected to the Beta through the Level 30 “Beta Forged” Weapon Blueprint reward. Meanwhile, the X-58 Nyx has appeared in current Beta material alongside its X-58 Void Apex Attachment. There are obviously more weapons coming. The news sources tell us that the standard Multiplayer arsenal alone contains 19 weapons, so several Assault Rifles, SMGs, Snipers, LMGs, Pistols, Launchers, and other weapons have yet to be officially matched to their Beta availability.

F.A.Q.

How many weapons are in Modern Warfare 4 Beta?

The MW4 Beta includes 19 standard Multiplayer weapons. Three additional weapons can be accessed through Campaign or Default Loadouts, bringing the number of potentially usable Beta weapons to 22.

What is the best weapon in Modern Warfare 4 Beta?

Right now, I consider the ISO Nightshade the best MW4 Beta weapon. Its high fire rate, mobility, controllability, and strong close-range performance give it everything needed to dominate Multiplayer.

How to get Apex Attachments in Modern Warfare 4 Beta?

You normally unlock an Apex Attachment by fully leveling its respective weapon. Vault Edition owners can also immediately test the Apex Attachments included with the five Signature Collection weapons during the Beta.

What weapon camos are available in Modern Warfare 4 Beta?

There are currently no dedicated earnable Beta weapon camos announced; the Beta reward track instead includes cosmetics and the Beta Forged weapon Blueprint. The Moonlit Pearl and Gilded Ruin Universal Camos are MW4 pre-order rewards, but Activision says they become usable in MW4 at launch, not during the Beta.

Does weapon leveling carry over from Modern Warfare Beta into the full game?

No. Weapon levels, weapon unlocks, Player Rank, and normal Beta progression reset when the Beta ends, while earned Beta cosmetic rewards carry over to the full game on October 23.
