Black Ops 7 Burn Run Assignment Guide

Burn Run is a new Endgame assignment in Black Ops 7 Season 5. Developers describe it as a race against the clock where operators drive a bomb-rigged vehicle through Avalon, passing through 30 flaming arches before the timer runs out. Season 5 launches on July 23 at 9 AM PT, and Burn Run is listed as a launch Assignment. It’s basically a checkpoint race with modifiers to actually make it fun, cause CoDs car handling is not enough even for an arcade racer. They need to add power-ups from Mario Kart to completely stray away from the serious militaristic vibe, but that’s BO7 I’m talking about, which never was as serious as the Modern Warfare cycle of games. The route is marked by flaming arches, but the way you get to them is up to you. You’re not locked in a racing track. Your job is to stay on the path, keep the vehicle healthy, and hit enough targets and bonuses to keep the clock ticking.
How Burn Run Works
I don’t think anyone would have trouble understanding how this assignment works, but for the complete picture, here’s how Burn Run plays:
- Start the Assignment in Avalon
- Get into the bomb-rigged vehicle
- Follow the flaming arch route
- Drive through all 30 arches
- Run over Fear enemies and objects to add time
- Grab repair wrenches and speed boosts along the way
- Reach the destination before the timer hits zero
I gotta admit that it might be more fun than just committing atrocities against your enemies. You’re juggling three things at once:
|
Burn Run Objective |
What it does |
|
Flaming arches |
Main route and completion requirement |
|
Timer |
Runs down while driving |
|
Picking Up Bonuses |
They give bonus time, repair the car, and boost you |
Unfortunately, the exact numbers for the starting timer or how many seconds roadkill enemies add are still unknown. So for now, anyone giving you exact numbers is either testing early access or just doing the ancient content ritual of making stuff up.
How to Complete Burn Run
The best way to complete Burn Run is to just play it as a normal racing game first and combat task second. Don’t go full munchkin on bonuses. You don’t need to hit every enemy or object on the road if doing so throws you off the path. Here’s how I’d do it:
- Look for the next Arch: The 30 flaming arches are your main goal. If you lose the chain, it’s gonna be rough.
- Don’t Stray from the Path: Fear enemies and objects add time, but detours can waste more seconds than they give back. Don’t be greedy.
- Use Speed Boost on Straights: Speed boosts are great, but only if you’re not boosting yourself into a wall. Best to use them when coming out of the corner.
- Grab Repair Wrenches: The vehicle needs to survive the full route, and it’s not gonna be easy. If there are enemy groups ahead, watch out for wrenches after you hit them.
Follow these simple tips and you’ll grow your power super easily.

Burn Run Bonuses
Burn Run has several bonus types that you can collect while doing the assignment. Exact values are not known yet, but their functions are pretty well known by now:
|
Bonus |
Effect |
|
Fear enemies |
Add seconds when run over |
|
Road objects |
Add seconds when smashed |
|
Repair wrenches |
Restores Vehicle HP |
|
Speed boosts |
Gives you a nitro boost |
As I already said, always go for the bonuses that are on your path instead of searching every nook and cranny. The exception would be when there are far too many enemies for you to just go through them.
Burn Run Rewards
The CoD developers have not confirmed specific Burn Run rewards yet. No Calling Card, Weapon Blueprint, camo, Operator Skin, or XP amount has been officially listed for completing the Assignment. I’ll update this section once Season 5 goes live and I’ll be able to check out the rewards.
