Clash of Clans Hero Equipment Tier List July 2026

Hero equipment, in my opinion, is one of the biggest reasons Clash of Clans is so different now. It introduced RPG elements to CoC. Equipping heroes with skills and upgrading them with ore is definitely something out of ARPGs. In this Clash of Clans Hero Equipment tier list for July 2026, I’ll rank the best equipment to upgrade and which ones I’d avoid wasting ores on.

Check out Clash of Clans Hero Equipment Tier List July 2026

Clash of Clans Hero Equipment Tier List Quick Summary:

  • Common equipment maxes at level 18, while Epic equipment maxes at level 27, so Epic upgrades are much more expensive long-term
  • Each Hero can equip 2 pieces of equipment, and active abilities trigger from the Hero button, while passive ones stay active at all times
  • Don’t blindly upgrade every Epic item. Starry Ore is too limited for such decisions

How Clash of Clans Hero Equipment Tier List Works

Before we get into the tier list, let’s clear up how I’m ranking these. I’m trying to approach the tier list as something I myself would use, so get ready for some mildly hot takes. Here’s what I pay attention to when I’m picking the best Clash of Clans hero equipment:

  • How Impactful It Is: Does the equipment actually help you 3-star
  • Versatility: Can you use it in multiple armies, or only in one marginal way
  • Ore Cost: Is it worth Shiny, Glowy, and especially Starry Ore
  • How it Suits Hero: Does it fix the Hero’s weakness or just add stats
  • Current Meta Presence: Is it frequently included in strong meta armies, or is it living off old hype

Don’t get misled by high rarity. Remember that Epic rarity does not automatically make it S-Tier. Epic equipment goes to level 27, while Common equipment caps at level 18, but the upgrade cost is also higher. While the devs designed Epic equipment to be stronger and more expensive, that doesn’t necessarily mean every Epic deserves your ores.

Clash of Clans Hero Equipment Tier List July 2026

This tier list is a little harsher than some other ones, mostly because ores are the real bottleneck for most players. Talk about free-to-play. If the piece of equipment works well, it’s not enough, it needs to be something super strong in order to be competitive. If you’re an F2P player like myself, you don’t want to spend weeks of resources on it. I want equipment to either carry my attacks, realize some wild strats, or be universally useful for multiple armies. Anyways, here’s a Clash of Clans Hero Equipment tier list for July 2026:

Tier

Hero Equipment

S-Tier

Eternal Tome, Action Figure, Electro Boots, Fire Heart, Spiky Ball, Fireball, Giant Arrow

A-Tier

Haste Vial, Rocket Spear, Healing Tome, Rage Gem, Dark Orb, Stun Blaster, Snake Bracelet, Magic Mirror, Monolith Arrow, Earthquake Boots, Heroic Torch

B-Tier

Giant Gauntlet, Healer Puppet, Frozen Arrow, Invisibility Vial, Frost Flake, Seeking Shield, Royal Gem, Dark Crown, Meteor Staff, Electro Fangs, Stick Horse, Metal Pants

C-Tier

Rage Vial, Vampstache, Hog Rider Puppet, Noble Iron, Flame Blower, Rocket Backpack, Life Gem, Henchmen Puppet

D-Tier

Barbarian Puppet, Archer Puppet, Lavaloon Puppet

Also, this is a July 2026 list, so Dragon Duke and newer equipment pieces are included. Clash Ninja’s current equipment list includes Dragon Duke gear like Fire Heart, Flame Blower, Stun Blaster, Rocket Backpack, and Electro Fangs, alongside older equipment for King, Queen, Warden, Royal Champion, and Minion Prince.

S-Tier Hero Equipment in Clash of Clans

S-Tier equipment is what I’d upgrade first. These are the pieces that either define modern meta or are so useful that not using them is plainly making yourself a disservice. Do note that S-Tier is always bound to be nerfed sooner or later, but usually the developers don’t completely kill a piece of equipment. At worst, you get the Giant Gauntlet situation where it’s just decent equipment now.

Eternal Tome - S-Tier

Eternal Tome is still the best Grand Warden equipment in Clash of Clans. The thing that makes it so good is that it makes the Grand Warden and nearby friendly units immune to damage for a short time, which is one of those effects that just can’t be nerfed unless devs completely redesign how it works. It works with all kinds of strategies and attacks and basically any army that needs to survive the most dangerous parts of the base.

Pros:

  • Works in almost every army
  • Saves troops
  • Does not need preparation
  • Common equipment, so it’s easier to max out than Epic

Cons:

  • No direct damage
  • Timing and skill dependent

This is one piece of equipment that I’d max out even before other Epics simply cause it works like a clockwork. Fireball is cooler, but Eternal Tome is a workhorse that does the job so well that you just can’t reason to change it for something else. Sometimes it becomes a problem cause I have trouble changing this equipment to something else.

Action Figure - S-Tier

Action Figure is the strongest Archer Queen equipment right now in my opinion. It summons a Giant Giant to fight alongside the Queen, grants invisibility, and boosts her with self-healing, DPS, and HP. A lot of useful stuff just for one button.

Pros:

  • Great survivability
  • Gives the Queen extra durability
  • Helps to tilt the attack in your favor
  • Works in both ground and air armies

Cons:

  • Expensive upgrade cost
  • Needs to be invested in to really flesh out its potential

A July 2026 community meta guide puts Action Figure as the “absolute meta” Queen equipment and calls out level 18 as the important minimum target. I really can’t argue with that.

Electro Boots - S-Tier

Electro Boots are still insane two years later. They give the Royal Champion a passive electric aura that periodically damages everything around her. That alone is strong on its own, but the real gold is that it helps clear smaller troops while the RC keeps advancing.

Pros:

  • Passive damage, no timing needed
  • Superb synergy with Haste Vial
  • Helps get rid of traps
  • Strong in RC dives

Cons:

  • Epic cost
  • Still relies on good RC pathing

I’d advise pairing Electro Boots with Haste Vial for deep charges or Rocket Spear for safer ranged attacks. Either way, it’s one of the safest ore investments in the game.

Fire Heart - S-Tier

Fire Heart is the best Dragon Duke equipment, hands down. It slowly regenerates health, gives stats, and triggers a damage burst when Dragon Duke dies. Do note that Dragon Duke has been nerfed as of the July update and is now more squishy than before, so Fire Heart is even more important now.

Pros:

  • Common equipment upgrade cost
  • Gives Dragon Duke self-sustain with healing, which solves his squishiness
  • On-death damage

Cons:

  • Needs to be leveled to be good
  • As good as your Dragon Duke

On one hand, Common upgrade price is a good thing, but then if your Dragon Duke is weak it’s mostly pointless. Nonetheless, it gives Dragon Duke the much-needed bulk so it doesn’t die as soon as you spawn it.

Spiky Ball - S-Tier

Spiky Ball is lowkey my favorite Barbarian King equipment. It lets the King throw a spiked ball that bounces between buildings, and that’s one of the strongest equipment effects ever. This makes it excellent for pathing, building removal, and opening attack windows for your army. The reason I put it above Giant Gauntlet now is that Spiky Ball is immediately useful as soon as you use it. It doesn’t just make the King beefier, it actively destroys buildings that would otherwise get in the way of your army’s pathing.

Pros:

  • Great for funneling
  • High building damage
  • Works in many ground armies
  • Better offensive potential than most other King equipment

Cons:

  • Epic cost
  • Skill-dependent, can lose most of its strength if aimed poorly

If you use King as a road paver, Spiky Ball is one of the best upgrades you can make.

Fireball - S-Tier

IDK how much of a hot take it is, but even though Fireball is not for every player, it is absolutely S-Tier when used the right way. It gives Grand Warden a huge offensive pressure instead of just being a defensive support. Fireball is at its strongest when it destroys or heavily damages a key compartment before your main army goes in. That can be Spell Towers, Infernos, Monolith-type threats, or whatever else you don’t like.

Pros:

  • Massive offensive swing
  • Great against compact bases
  • Opens up specific high-level strats
  • Strong with right support spells

Cons:

  • Requires good aiming
  • Bad Fireball is almost as good as throwing the game completely
  • Can counter Eternal Tome

That’s definitely not one-button win equipment, though it kind of is, but you understand what I mean. If you’re a good planner and don’t just play CoC to do something while watching some slop on Netflix, Fireball is irreplaceable. If you don’t want to think, Fireball is not your friend.

Giant Arrow - S-Tier

Giant Arrow is one of the most satisfying Queen equipment pieces in the game. It fires across the entire village and damages everything in its path. LDPlayer’s July 2026 equipment guide also ranks Giant Arrow highly, noting that it can be devastating when key defenses are lined up, though weaker against layouts that are more complex

Pros:

  • Can remove major defenses instantly
  • Great for air attack armies
  • Strong when the base layout allows it to shine
  • Common equipment

Cons:

  • Base-dependent
  • Missed arrows are a pain
  • Less universal than Action Figure

While many would argue that it’s an A-Tier equipment at best, I’m keeping it S-Tier because its potential is still absurd. If you learn to play and analyze the base, it can almost single-handedly win you games up until higher Town Halls where people will be aware of its potential.

A-Tier Hero Equipment

A-Tier isn’t something to ignore. Just cause it ain’t S-Tier doesn’t mean that it’s weak, don’t fall into this trap of thinking. A-Tier equipment is strong and worth upgrading, but I don’t think it beats the S-Tier for overall priority.

Equipment

Why It’s A-Tier

Haste Vial

One of the best Royal Champion partners, especially with Electro Boots

Rocket Spear

Strong for ranged RC and defense sniping

Healing Tome

Great sustain for long sieges and high HP armies

Rage Gem

Great damage aura for fast armies

Dark Orb

Good control equipment for Minion Prince

Stun Blaster

Good control equipment for Dragon Duke

Snake Bracelet

An extra distraction for a King plus good scaling into the attack

Magic Mirror

Still pretty good to avoid damage as Queen and confuse the defender

Monolith Arrow

Slightly increases Queen’s survivability and can deal a great deal of damage, but only if the army against you has beefy troops

Earthquake Boots

Great wall opener and structure damage

Heroic Torch

Very strong in wall-sided attacks

Haste Vial is just this short of getting into S-Tier here. It gives the Royal Champion the speed and attack tempo she needs to finish defenses before they finish her. Though Rocket Spear is safer, Haste Vial feels much more fun and is actually stronger in more moments. Heroic Torch is another interesting one, even though it’s at the bottom of the list. Letting nearby troops walk through walls and take reduced damage is obviously strong, but it needs the right army to become fully fledged.

B-Tier Hero Equipment

B-Tier equipment is still decent, but I would think twice before upgrading it, unless it fits or is necessary for your favorite army.

Equipment

Main Issue

Giant Gauntlet

Still good, but no longer a first King Epic upgrade

Healer Puppet

Useful Queen support, but loses to Action Figure in every way. Still a great substitution for a while.

Frozen Arrow

Strong slow, but is outpowered by newer Queen toys

Invisibility Vial

Queen equipment that is strong, but again compare it to other equipment and realize that it’s far weaker

Frost Flake

Good control, but RC just has better options

Seeking Shield

Nice for sniping, not enough meta impact

Royal Gem

Though healing is useful, it’s hard to slot it in instead of Electro Boots/Haste

Dark Crown

Makes Minion Prince stronger and more durable, but relies on quickly depleting your troops on purpose, and it’s super risky

Meteor Staff

Good damage but overall worse than Fireball

Electro Fangs

Great with Fire Heart, but on its own isn’t worth upgrading

Stick Horse

Nice mobility, but not enough for top tier

Metal Pants

Some nice defense, but not enough impact for breaking through enemy’s defense

I can imagine that Giant Gauntlet being B-Tier may annoy people, but I’m not saying it’s bad. It’s just outclassed by other King equipment now. Giant Gauntlet is good for damage reduction and AoE, but I’d rather put ore into Spiky Ball or Snake Bracelet first.

C & D-Tier Hero Equipment

C-Tier equipment mostly suffers from the same issue as B-Tier. It works, but there are far better options for the same Hero. Investing in C-Tier equipment is even more questionable. The D-Tier equipment is mostly starter equipment or Lavaloon Puppet, which is, you know, super trash. You can de-rank in simpler ways than sabotaging your account, js.

Tier

Equipment

C-Tier

Rage Vial, Vampstache, Hog Rider Puppet, Noble Iron, Flame Blower, Rocket Backpack, Life Gem, Henchmen Puppet

D-Tier

Barbarian Puppet, Archer Puppet, Lavaloon Puppet

Rage Vial and Vampstache are fine early on, especially if you don’t have better King equipment yet. Of course, as soon as you get to something decent, you’ll swap it out. Barbarian Puppet and Archer Puppet have the classic default equipment problem. They technically do something, but then you unlock better equipment and never want to look back. Lavaloon Puppet is also too narrow for me to recommend seriously unless you’re committed to that specific style.

Best Hero Equipment for Each Hero Clash of Clans

Here’s the quick version if you only care about what to upgrade for each Hero.

Hero

Best Equipment

Barbarian King

Spiky Ball + Snake Bracelet / Earthquake Boots

Archer Queen

Action Figure + Giant Arrow / Magic Mirror

Grand Warden

Eternal Tome + Fireball / Healing Tome

Royal Champion

Electro Boots + Haste Vial / Rocket Spear

Minion Prince

Dark Orb + Dark Crown / Meteor Staff

Dragon Duke

Fire Heart + Stun Blaster / Electro Fangs

If you’re low on ores, I’d prioritize equipment in this order:

  1. Eternal Tome
  2. Electro Boots
  3. Action Figure
  4. Fire Heart
  5. Spiky Ball
  6. Fireball
  7. Haste Vial
  8. Giant Arrow

That gives you the best mix of safety, damage, and long-term value without dumping everything into one Hero.

F.A.Q

What is the best Hero Equipment in Clash of Clans?

The best Hero Equipment right now is Eternal Tome, Action Figure, Electro Boots, Fire Heart, Spiky Ball, Fireball, and Giant Arrow.

What Hero Equipment should I upgrade first in CoC?

I’d upgrade Eternal Tome first because it works in almost every army. After that, go for Electro Boots, Action Figure, Fire Heart, Spiky Ball, and Fireball.

Is Epic equipment always better than Common equipment in CoC?

No. Epic equipment can be stronger, but it also costs more and goes to level 27. Some Common equipment, like Eternal Tome, Fire Heart, Haste Vial, and Giant Arrow, is still amazing.

What is the best Royal Champion equipment?

Electro Boots are the best Royal Champion equipment overall. Pair them with Haste Vial for aggressive dives or Rocket Spear for safer ranged value.

What is the best Archer Queen equipment?

Action Figure is the best Archer Queen equipment in July 2026. Giant Arrow and Magic Mirror are also strong, depending on your attack style.

What is the best Barbarian King equipment?

Spiky Ball is the best King equipment right now. Snake Bracelet, Earthquake Boots, and Giant Gauntlet are also useful, but I’d prioritize Spiky Ball first.

What equipment should F2P players avoid upgrading in Clash of Clans?

Avoid wasting resources on Barbarian Puppet, Archer Puppet, Lavaloon Puppet, and other highly specific equipment unless you intend to use them further. Ores are too limited to upgrade everything for fun.
