Best Division 2 Gear Sets Tier List 2026

It can be a real pain in the butt learning about the gear sets, brand sets, especially when every player or YouTuber that makes content about Division 2 is telling you different things. This set is good, that one is trash, and so on. I remember I spent weeks farming one gear set, and then one of my friends told me it was making a meme build. If you’re feeling lost when looking at all of these gear sets and brand sets, I feel you! 

This is my Division 2 gear sets tier list for 2026 that will show you which sets are considered meta. While I’ll explain later exactly how I ranked them, I’ll tell you right now, you will never ever make a build that uses all 6 pieces of a gear set. Usually, you go with four pieces to unlock the gear set bonus and then another 2 pieces to complete the build. That’s just how things are. With that said, here is my tier list:

Note that I’m not covering brand sets or prototype gear, as this is not the focus for today’s list. Next, I’ll explain how I decided to rank these sets and what sets are best for different kinds of goals and players.

How I Ranked the Best Gear Sets

So, it’s actually kind of difficult to find the list of the best gear sets out there and use it as a starting point, which is what most other people and I do when they need to write something like this. But the thing is - gear sets on their own aren’t worth much. Sure, they make up the core of a build along with the exotic choices and some other things in a build, but it's the builds that really matter. 

Since I play the game myself, as you could probably tell by the sheer volume of guides that I’ve been recently putting out there about Div2, I do have the in-game knowledge to back up this ranking. Believe me, as someone who is interested and plays more than one game at the same time, I’ve gone through the same confusion phase where I couldn’t tell which of those dozens of sets are good. But having played extensively and after trying different sets and builds, these are my criteria

If you want to know which gear sets are the best in Division 2, you only realistically need to look at builds. The more “meta builds” use the same gear set, it probably means it's good. A counterargument for that would be that you could actually make a build around the gear set’s main mechanic. Still, when you see my S-tier sets breakdown, you’ll know exactly why those are the best.

How Gear Sets Work in The Division 2

If you’re like super new to the game, the gear sets are green items, which have a much lower drop rate compared to the yellow brand set items. You only really start seeing these after level 30, and after level 40, you can enjoy special farming methods like targeted loot and other things, which I’ll explain later.

Gear sets provide additional bonuses to stats for equipping 2, 3, and 4 pieces out of 6. The whole set is always 6 pieces. But only when you equip at least 4 pieces, you get access to a unique mechanic tied to a gear set. Brand sets don’t have that. These mechanics are what people make builds for. You can equip ANY 4 pieces, leaving 2 slots to fill with either one exotic armor piece or 2 pieces from another set, depending on the chosen build. There are many viable options.

S-Tier Gear Sets Explained

Now, let’s take a look at the most popular gear sets that are used in a huge number of builds, and you’ll see why they’re the best.

Striker’s Battlegear

So, Striker set, aka Striker’s Initiative, is probably the first gear set you absolutely must farm and use as a new player. Because to farm SHD levels and keep farming other gear sets, you need to be playing on the highest possible difficulty, which is just impossible without being able to deal scalable damage. That’s why so many DPS builds use Striker set as its core.

Future Initiative

If you want to make builds that focus on using your skills, like you want to deal damage, or crowd control, or heal, you absolutely do need Future Initiative set, especially if you’re playing in a group. This is not for solo play; this is for that high-end, endgame content.

Again, depending on your build, you might want to get different pieces, but the backpack is most definitely a must-have. And so is the chest piece, if I’m honest.

Eclipse Protocol

This gear set has been spotted in some of the craziest crowd control builds. There are a lot of chonky enemies in the endgame difficulties, and dealing with them all by staggering them or causing burn effects is one of the best ways to deal with them. That’s where Eclispse Protocol set steps in.

Builds that use Ecliplse Protocol may not be the best for solo players, as solos still prefer scaling DPS to just applying status effects, but trust me, when you start playing raids, one of your Agents better have a build with this gear set.

 

 

Best gear sets to Farm First

Now, I’ve already told you that all new players who are entering endgame should start by farming the Striker’s set, but what other sets should they get? Let’s take a look:

Anywhere you look, whether it be Reddit or YouTube, everyone will tell you that Striker should be the first one in your priority list on level 35+.

Best Gear Sets for Solo Players

If you’re a solo player, again, the Striker’s Battlegear is your starting point, but sooner or later, you’ll want to try out different sets and builds, so here’s a list for you. And I may have explained why new players need Striker, but why is it good for solo players too, and what other options are there?

• Hotshot - a set for snipers. Helps you stay in range, rewards headshots with more damage and armor, and works especially well with Determined for easier follow-up kills.
• Striker’s Battlegear - Best general solo DPS set. It builds weapon damage as you keep landing shots, works with many assault rifles, and helps you farm stronger builds later.
• Hunter’s Fury - Best close-range solo set. It boosts SMG and shotgun damage, gives Armor on Kill and Health on Kill, and disorients nearby enemies after kills.

There are other options, of course, but I feel like these three can cater to 3 very different playstyles.

Best Gear Sets for Group Content

When you start running Summit, Raids, Incursions, Countdown, or Retaliation, you’ll be doing this in a group. In groups, you’ll need more than just DPS. I mean, you do still need Striker builds, but other builds become even more important. Here are your choices:

• Striker’s Battlegear for DPS
• Future Initiative for healer/support
• Eclipse Protocol for status/control
• Foundry Bulwark for tank/shield play
• Ongoing Directive for team ammo/support
• Negotiator’s Dilemma for multi-target DPS

That’s why I keep saying that the Striker set and build is just the first stop; you do realistically need to have more sets on the ready, along with some exotics if you want to explore endgame group activities.

Best Gear Sets for PvP

If you’re a PvP player, you have two choices - Dark Zone or Conflict. Either way, there are some gear sets that are pretty good for staying alive or dealing damage to players. There’s an entire PvP meta, which I won’t dive into today, but note these gear sets, as these are the ones that usually go into PvP meta builds.

• Heartbreaker
• Umbra Initiative
• System Corruption
• Striker’s Battlegear
• Cavalier or Aegis only as niche defensive options

In the recent update, Year 8 Season 2, Striker’s Battlegear perk was actually nerfed a little, but it’s still very good in PvP.

Is Ortiz: Reficere Worth Farming?

The new Ortiz: Reficere gear set that was added very recently in the “Into the Dark” season is actually a set dedicated to healers and support builds.

The set gives 8% Skill Efficiency at 2 pieces and 60% Repair Skills at 3 pieces. Its 4-piece talent, Ortiz Rapid Application Nanite Prototype, reduces Healing Skills’ duration and range by 90%, but increases their Healing Efficiency by 150%. Healing an ally with a skill also gives them 30% Hazard Protection for 10 seconds, with a 10-second cooldown per ally.

That makes Ortiz: Reficere interesting, but also awkward. The healing boost is huge, but the range and duration penalty means you need to play around its limits. The Hazard Protection bonus is useful in specific content, but it is not enough to make the set an easy universal pick.

For now, I would say that Ortiz: Reficere has potential in support builds, especially where Hazard Protection matters, but Future Initiative still looks like the safer healer gear set for most group content.

 

 

How to Farm Gear Sets Fast

If you don’t know how to farm gear sets, it’s actually more or less simple. First, you gotta make sure you’re max level and can use the Targeted Loot system. Every 24 hours, map regions get randomly assigned a gear set that will drop for completing various activities in that region. The same happens to Strongholds, story missions, and off-DC map activities.

If you see your desired set in the rotation, just go do that mission or farm activities in the region that has it. But there are better options. Some activities allow you to actually select which gear sets will drop from it. These activities include:

• The Summit
• Countdown
• Retaliation

These 3 have an additional option on the map that allows you to actually set which gear sets or gear pieces will drop. All you have to do is play them on the highest available difficulty to increase the chances and volume of the drops.

And by the way, don’t think that gear sets are always better than brand sets, that’s just not true. For example, a Striker build wouldn’t work without the Equalizer chest piece, which is a High-End, yellow piece of gear. Getting that chest piece with the right set of Attributes is very difficult but the build won’t work without it. There are other examples for other builds too, so yellow pieces are still relevant!
