FC 27 Division Rivals Guide Quick Overview:
- This year’s Rivals system offers up to “several times more” Coins and other rewards, and the packs you get are now tradeable.
- The skill and reward gap between different Divisions is wider now. However, you don’t need to get to Division 6 to participate in Champions Finals anymore.
- Weekly rewards are divided into two tiers: Base (15 points) and Upgraded (30 points). Winning earns you 3 points, and a draw is worth a single point. The Upgraded rewards are miles better than the Base ones, so make sure you hit the threshold every week.

Division Rivals in FC 27

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Division Rivals is The Online Mode for competitive FC players. The game offers some other options, sure, but Division Rivals is where it’s really at for any ranked grinder.
The mode itself didn’t change much since FC 26, so it’ll feel very cozy and familiar to those who’ve experienced the previous title (at least as cozy as dealing with sweaty tryhards can be). Open player packs, create your Ultimate Team using what you get, upgrade the squad to stay competitive, and show off your skill against other FC fans.
You have 11 ranks to climb through, starting at Division 10 and finishing with Elite Division, each offering its own benefits and rewards. As in any ranked mode, climbing requires winning more often than losing, and each Division’s requirements differ based on how high you’ve gotten.
At first, you’ll be provided with lenient Checkpoints that allow you to climb even with a subpar win rate. If you are an experienced player, however, you’ll skip right through the first few Divisions thanks to Winstreaks, which enable you to progress through two stages per win instead of one as long as you keep the streak.
However, later on you’ll still have to truly prove yourself with little to no room for mistakes. Checkpoints become Limited, your opponents become tougher, and at some point your progress stagnates, signifying that you’ve reached your actual skill level.
At the same time, the closer you are to the top, the more opportunities you have to improve your team and beat your competition — all thanks to better rewards.
Speaking of which…

Division Rivals Rewards
The team at EA Sports tried to address some of the common complaints regarding the reward system. FC 26 Bounties notoriously had several issues, with players noting that they are simultaneously inconsistent, lackluster, and bugged even after patching attempts. Now, the focus seems to be on a more stable and noticeable progression.
According to the devs, you earned around 500 or 600 FUT Coins per match (on average) in FC 26. Now EA promises a noticeable increase — up to “several times more”. The players also get to earn anywhere between 15 and 100 Season Points per match depending on the result, capped at 850 points per day.

On paper, this whole system is designed to encourage players participating in the market more frequently, which is paired with a higher proportion of tradeable rewards in FC 27 compared to the previous title. The packs you get are tradeable right from the start, so you get at least some breaks from grinding to optimize your pack and resource management.
As usual, the process is pretty straightforward: the more you play, the more you can potentially earn. That said, many objectives for Bounties don’t require you to win the game, so you can still earn something even if you’re on a bad streak. In my case, these are consolation prizes rather than additional objectives, because I often find myself queued against people clearly belonging in e-sports.
Your win rate still matters a lot if you expect to get your hands on the best rewards, since those are locked behind higher Division tiers. If you want to keep claiming packs and Coins, you will have to reach a certain threshold.
- Winning a Rivals match grants you three points.
- Every draw is worth a single point.
- You get zero points for any losses.
Rewards are presented in two tiers that are tied to your weekly point score: the first tier is unlocked at 15 points, while the second one requires getting at least 30. The rewards are directly tied to your Division and are granted every Thursday (12:00 AM PT / 3:00 AM ET).
The difference between the tiers is massive: the second tier essentially doubles the rewards and adds a few extra bonuses on top, so if you’re serious about grinding FC 27, you’ll have to win at least 10 Rivals matches (or tie 30, or anything in between) every week.

Another notable change is a stronger differentiation between rewards based on your performance. The higher your Division is, the better the rewards will be, with some looking very lucrative. For instance, you can see how Division 4 Upgraded Rewards will provide 37,500 Coins, as well as multiple 83+ and 84+ Player Packs, while Division 9 Upgraded rewards consist of five 81+ Player Packs and nothing else.
Finally, EA decided to make Champions Finals more welcoming by removing the Division 6 requirement for qualification, allowing players to earn Qualification Points through both Rivals and Squad Battles, and adding QP as Champions rewards so that it’s easier to qualify for the next Finals.
First of all, it is still way easier to qualify if you’re playing in the higher Rivals Division, but now players from the lower ones get at least some opportunity to participate instead of being completely locked out of the entire thing. That just seems like a nice accessibility boost the game can only benefit from.
Speaking of accessibility, PvE enthusiasts can now qualify for Champions Finals without ever interacting with human opponents — we’ll have to see how this will affect the experience for both types of gamers.
One might argue that it can incentivize Squad Battlers to enter PvP in hopes of getting cool rewards, while others might say it will create a considerable skill gap and make the matches far more one-sided. So far, I haven’t noticed any considerable difference compared to FC 26, but we’ll have to see.

F.A.Q.
What is the Division Rivals mode in FC 27?
Division Rivals is the primary competitive mode for FC 27 that uses Ultimate Team mechanics and features its own rankings and progression. Create your own squad, compete against other players in your skill bracket, and try to get to the top to earn more Coins and Player Packs.
What are the rewards in Division Rivals?
Players can get various rewards depending on their rank and playtime. The rewards themselves usually include Coins (an in-game currency used to purchase players), player packs, and Champions Qualification Points that allow FC 27 fans to participate in special tournaments to earn extra rewards.
How can I start playing Division Rivals?
All you need to do is choose Rivals in an in-game menu. You will be provided with a starter pack and all the information needed to start your ranked journey. Note that the system requires a stable internet connection. The rewards and objectives are updated on Thursday, so it might be the best time to join in.
How to earn the best rewards in FC 27 Division Rivals?
Staying consistent in terms of playtime and getting to a decent Division are the most crucial factors for earning solid rewards. FC 27 widened the gap between different Divisions, so a jump from Division 7 to Division 6 feels much more impactful. Same goes for the gap between Base and Upgraded Rewards — make sure to get to 30 points every week.
