How FC 27 FUT Champions Works

If you skipped the last game or haven’t touched Weekend League in a while, FC 27 FUT Champions is much easier to understand compared to the older formats. Champions Finals give you a maximum of 15 matches, and your final rank is based on how many of those you win. There’s no overly complicated points calculation either, so eight wins means Rank 8, twelve wins means Rank 4, and a perfect 15-0 gets you Rank 1. Devs also removed the old Division 6 qualification gate, meaning your Division now affects how quickly you get there rather than whether you’re allowed to try at all. The FC 27 Champions process, for lack of a better word, looks like this:

  1. Earn enough Champions Qualification Points
  2. Qualify for FUT Champions
  3. Play up to 15 Finals matches
  4. Get your Coins, CQP, and Champions Tokens based on wins
  5. Spend or save your Champions Tokens

Play-Offs are no longer part of that process. Once you collect the required CQP, you qualify for the next available Champions competition. For Season 1, that requirement is currently 1,000 CQP, although that amount can change in later Seasons.

How to Qualify for FUT Champions in FC 27

Qualification is where FC 27 makes one of its bigger changes, along with Dynamic Potential for Wonderkids. Champions Qualification Points can now come from both Division Rivals and Squad Battles, and devs specifically removed the Division 6 requirement that previously kept lower-Division players out. Higher Rivals Divisions still will earn CQP much faster, so climbing the ladder absolutely helps, but you can technically work your way into Champions from any Division. Here’s how much CQP you currently get from Rivals matches:

These are the current FC 27 Rivals qualification rates tracked for Season 1. So yeah, you can, on paper, qualify from Division 10 now, but with 25 CQP per win, I hope you have nothing planned for the evening. Kinda inconsiderate of lesser-skilled players, if you ask me. Getting into the higher Divisions cuts the grind dramatically, and weekly Rivals rewards give you another big chunk. Champions rewards themselves also return CQP, so once you’re regularly making Weekend League, qualifying for the next one gets much easier.

FC 27 FUT Champions Ranks and Rewards

Your Champions rank depends entirely on wins, with 15 ranks corresponding to the 15 matches you can play. FC 27 also puts more FUT Coins into Champions rewards compared to FC 26, while Champions Tokens give you control over the packs and other stuff you actually want. The Season 1 payouts below are from current reward listings, but keep in mind that developers can change them when a new Season starts.

For me, the realistic and reachable target for most players is around 8-11 wins. Eight wins gets you 90 Tokens and 15,000 Coins, while eleven bumps that to 165 Tokens and 50,000 Coins, so those extra three wins are actually worth sweating for. The rewards above that obviously get better, but so do the people trying their absolute hardest to make sure you never see them.

FC 27 Champions Tokens and Token Store

Champions Tokens return in FC 27 and are the biggest thing you need to understand about the reward system. Instead of your entire Weekend League payout being locked into whatever packs were chosen for that rank, you earn Tokens and decide how to use them in the Champions Token Store. The store can contain the exclusive red TOTW (Team of the Week) items, Evolutions, and vanity rewards like Celebrations alongside the usual pack and Player Pick stuff. Tokens can also be saved rather than spent after every run. Current Season 1 Champions Store rewards include:

The Champions Store is already rotating individual offers, so I don’t take these Evolutions or Celebrations as permanent. According to developers, the Token Store will continue evolving throughout FC 27, and live trackers already show the current Evolution changing to Frontline Flair. As for what you should buy, avoid spending Tokens even though you’re itching to do just that. The 200-Token 3x 88+ Tradeable Players Pack is the big one, while the 75-Token options are a lot more affordable if you’re regularly landing around the middle Champions ranks. Be sure to check what’s currently in packs and what TOTW looks like before buying anything, because blowing Tokens on some dude who won’t last two weeks in your squad kinda defeats the point of having a choice.

How FUT Champions Matchmaking Works

Champions doesn’t just throw you against a completely random opponent every match. The matchmaking considers your location, platform, cross-play settings, and your current Form, with Form being the interesting part here. You start every Champions run at 0 Form, then gain one point for a win and lose one for a defeat. The system tries to match you against players with similar Form, which is why a great start can make the second half of your run considerably sweatier. The calculation itself is dead easy and continues the general trend of making the game more accessible for newcomers:

  • Win: +1 Form
  • Loss: -1 Form
  • Starting Form: 0

So if you’re 6-0, don’t be surprised when you stop running into players who defend by holding sprint and praying. The opposite also applies, though. A bad start lowers your Form and should gradually put you against players having a similar run, so losing two early games doesn’t mean your entire Weekend League is cooked.

How to Get More Wins in FC 27 FUT Champions

There’s no secret tactic that turns a five-win player into a 15-0 demon overnight. What you can do is stop losing matches because you entered Champions with a half-cooked formation, no useful subs, and the mental stability of a League of Legends player. Get the squad and tactics sorted in Rivals before starting the run and avoid changing everything after one bad match. You need to get comfortable with your approach, so changing tactics or settings all the time leads to a losestreak, but doesn’t fix the core issue. Of course, it’s sometimes worth it to change tactics if you’re experienced enough to understand that you did some stuff that barely works. Bottom line, Champions is already unpredictable enough without you experimenting halfway through it. Here’s a checklist of what you need to have ready before the first game:

  • A formation you already know: Champions is not the place to test something you copied from a YouTuber ten minutes ago
  • An attacking preset: Use it when you’re behind and actually need to take risks
  • A defensive preset: Useful for protecting a lead late instead of parking ten players manually
  • A fast attacking substitute: Fresh Pace works the best after the 70th minute
  • A CM/CDM substitute: Especially useful if your midfielders run out of gas
  • A flexible defender: Someone who can cover more than one defensive position
  • A break between bad games: Probably more useful than half the advice given on the internet or in this article

You don’t have to play all 15 matches in one sitting, so use the available time. I also wouldn’t completely rebuild the tactics every time somebody beats you. There’s always a bigger fish in the ocean. Realize that and just enjoy yourself. Sometimes the other guy was better, sometimes your defender decides to become a player from a backwater club for five seconds, and sometimes you just get FC’d. Move on.

F.A.Q

How many matches are in FC 27 FUT Champions?

You can play up to 15 Champions Finals matches in each run. Your number of wins determines your final rank, with 15 wins required for Rank 1.

How do you qualify for FUT Champions in FC 27?

You need enough Champions Qualification Points. The Season 1 requirement is currently 1,000 CQP, and FC 27 lets you earn qualification progress through Rivals and Squad Battles. Once you reach the requirement, you qualify for Champions without going through a separate Play-Off stage.

Do you need Division 6 for FUT Champions in FC 27?

No. EA specifically removed the Division 6 requirement in FC 27. Your Rivals Division still affects how quickly you earn CQP, but it no longer determines whether you’re allowed to qualify.

Can you save Champions Tokens in FC 27?

Yes. Champions Tokens can be banked and used on later Token Store rewards instead of being spent immediately. Just check the expiry timer on the specific reward you’re saving for, since store offers rotate.

When does FC 27 FUT Champions start?

The first FC 27 Champions Finals is currently scheduled for October 2, 2026 at 11 am PDT, ending on October 5 at 12 pm. After that, the current calendar has Champions returning weekly.

When do you get FUT Champions Rewards in FC 27?

You get the rewards once you complete your Champions campaign. If you leave matches unfinished, the current Finals calendar states that the rewards are issued when that competition window ends.
