How to Unlock Dancing Mad Ultimate
To unlock Dancing Mad Ultimate in FFXIV, you first need to clear AAC Heavyweight M4 (Savage). I’ve got this step-by-step instruction on what to do at each stage for you:
- Clear AAC Heavyweight M4 (Savage)
- Go to Tuliyollal
- Find the Wandering Minstrel at X:11.1, Y:14.6
- Speak to him on a level 100 combat job
- Unlock Dancing Mad Ultimate
- Enter it through Raid Finder with a full party
And one more thing to keep in mind is that your item level should not be lower than 790. Also, you cannot queue into Dancing Mad Ultimate like a normal trial. After unlocking it, your group needs to use Raid Finder, and the party must already be fully formed. Every player in the group also needs the Savage clear. If at least one person is missing this, your party won’t be able to start the raid.
Dancing Mad Ultimate Fight Strategy
Note: This part of the guide is still in development. I’ll share a complete Dancing Mad Ultimate fight strategy here once I have confirmed details. For now, only certain Phase 1 mechanics are available.
Phase 1
Phase 1 is the Kefka phase, and it’s not a normal opener you’ve seen in other FF14 raids before. The statue behind Kefka has three candles tied to the three Graven Image checks during the phase. Current public notes connect those checks to proper Double-Trouble Trap handling, soaking the Graven Image II gravity bubbles, and using the Tele-Trouncing arrows correctly. If your group fails these Graven Image requirements, the fight can later continue into a fake ending after Phase 2 with no real clear reward.
Be prepared that Kefka opens with Revolting Ruin III. This is a heavy conal tankbuster that hits twice. You can survive this only if both of your tanks are ready from the beginning. This is necessary because the second hit targets the player with the second-highest aggro in your party.
Note: More info will be added for Phase 1 once I get further. Stay tuned!

Best Party Composition for DMU

Dancing Mad Ultimate can be completed with the standard Ultimate raid setup. You’ll have full party bonus, reliable mitigation, and enough damage without forcing awkward job picks. I would recommend the following as the best party composition for Dancing Mad Ultimate:
- Tank 1: Main tank
- Tank 2: Off tank
- Healer 1: Pure or regen healer
- Healer 2: Shield healer
- DPS 1: Melee DPS
- DPS 2: Melee DPS
- DPS 3: Physical ranged DPS
- DPS 4: Magical ranged DPS
For early progression, which is where you’re now for sure, a resurrection caster can be useful. Go for Red Mage or Summoner to survive as long as possible and check the upcoming raid mechanics. Once your party is more consistent and you know what to expect, you can safely swap to a more damage-focused caster.
Dancing Mad Ultimate Rewards
You don’t clear this raid for a normal gear loot table. Your main rewards are prestige items tied to the clear itself. They’re the weekly clear reward, the weapon exchange, and the permanent achievement title. Here are the main DMU rewards to hunt for:
- Weekly completion reward (resets every Tuesday at 1:00 am PDT)
- Mad Harlequin’s Totem
- Palazzo Diamond weapons
- Son of a... achievement
- Cruel Legend title
- Adventurer Plate
After clearing Dancing Mad Ultimate, you can use the raid reward at Uah’shepya in Solution Nine to get Palazzo Diamond weapons. These are the Ultimate weapons tied to DMU, and they are the main visual reward players will farm after the first clear.
