Best Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Loadouts Quick Summary:
- MW4 DMZ loadouts should match what you actually plan to do in the raid.
- Budget, General, and Extreme Threat setups each serve a different purpose.
- The General loadout is the safest choice for most normal Hajin runs.
- Extreme Threat zones need stronger armor, healing, and better-equipped weapons.

MW4 DMZ Loadouts Explained

DMZ, though, may seem casual at first, but it is actually quite hardcore, and this difficulty depends on what goals you pursue in a raid. Do you want to just farm resources or equipment? Or do you want to raid the most hostile-stacked zones to use your keys and get some of the best loot in the game? No matter the cause, preparation is key. Unlike in multiplayer, the loadouts in DMZ work differently. You have an operator window where you can equip various weapons and gadgets into the slots, and you also have a backpack where you can store important consumables. Before raiding Hajin, you want to fill these slots out, use a free loadout if you’re down on gear or funds, or even go in empty-handed. Nothing like starting a zero-to-hero round and exfiling with a crisp M4. I can roughly separate the loadouts into three main categories:
- Budget: One gun, small backpack, a 1-plate armor, maybe 2-plate if you’re a bit more generous. Somewhat redundant due to the presence of free loadouts.
- General: Something you’ll be using most of the time. A good gun with 2-3 attachments, medium backpack, 2-plate armor, field upgrade, NVGs/Gas mask, parachute, grenades, a couple of healing items.
- Extreme Threat: This is for the Reactor raids or if you want to raid the Grid, 14th Precinct Prison, or Air Base. Grab your best gear before attempting these raids and make sure you have multiple options for the slot.
For each of these loadouts, I’ll provide my recommendations and the weapons I have the most success using, as well as explain when you want to run these loadouts. Surprisingly enough, the weapons you’ll find most frequently are some of the best weapons for DMZ. Note that these loadouts work perfectly fine both for solo and squad raids. Another point worth mentioning before diving further is that it’s a good idea to have separate operators for various goals and level their skill trees respectively. Alright, I think I talked about everything that matters. Now we can dive into loadouts.
Best Budget MW4 DMZ Loadout

Went too hard on a previous raid and want to play lowkey? Wanna feel the sense of thrill from finding gear better than the one you currently have? Time to downshift, then. This budget loadout is best used when I just want to free roam and farm resources and maybe get into risky territories just to figure out their layout. I usually use it when I’m completing some simple DMZ orders. Note that instead of going budget, you can always go for a free loadout, but sometimes your stash is too crammed and you want to clean it up a bit. Here’s the best budget MW4 DMZ loadout:
|
Slot |
Recommendation |
Why |
|
Main Weapon |
Han-86/.50 GS |
Han is insanely powerful for how widespread it is, so it’s by far the best gun even in non-budget runs. .50 GS is harder to find, but if you have one, it’s perfect since it does a ton of damage, has good range, and kills most of the AI enemies with one or two shots. |
|
Secondary |
Whatever you find during the raid |
Don’t take a secondary for a budget run. Ideally, you either want a Warlord shotgun or Oris marksman rifle |
|
Plate Carrier |
One Plate Armor |
You can go to Police Stations and loot two plate armor there |
|
Backpack |
Small Backpack |
Beggars can’t be choosers. No secure slot, but it’s better than nothing |
|
Tactical |
Smoke Grenade |
If you get hit first, 9 times out of 10 you’ll die. A smoke grenade lets you reset the encounter or even dip altogether if you’re not confident in taking the fight |
|
Lethal |
Up to you |
Depending on your playstyle. I usually take frag/thermite |
|
Healing |
Bandages |
Two bandages are enough. If you got downed and there’s still 20 minutes left, go to a Clinic and pray for a Medkit drop |
Considering how widespread the grenades are in DMZ, I don’t even take them with me unless my stash has too many. If you’re curious about what’s absolutely essential to take with you, then it just boils down to one weapon of your choice, preferably below Rare, armor, and healing items.
Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Best Loadout

This is the loadout I use most often. Most of the time, I play solo, so I have to find a perfect balance between survivability and not bringing too much loot with me. There is such a thing as overpreparation. This loadout utilizes Rare/Epic gear for the most part, which is common enough that you don’t feel disheartened when you inevitably lose it, but strong enough that you could do a large heap of content and not feel under-equipped. I use this loadout when I wanna do Dynamic Ops or clear the buildings inside heightened danger zones like a prison or an air base. This technically can be used in any zone. Just play smart and don’t shoot every enemy you see, and obviously don’t fight bosses with it. They already fixed the Drill Charge vs Colossus exploit. Here’s the Modern Warfare 4 DMZ best loadout:
|
Slot |
Recommendation |
Why |
|
Main Weapon |
Han 86/M4/Cronen Squall |
ARs are always strong and general enough to allow long-range and building shootouts. Don’t take Oden, it’s horrible. If you can, also take 60-round mags for these guns. |
|
Secondary |
Vel 46/Warlord/Oris |
Depends on the distance you take your fights in. I prefer mid to close shootouts, so I usually go with Vel or Warlord |
|
Plate Carrier |
2 Plate Armor |
This includes vests that can restore Plate’s HP |
|
Backpack |
Medium Backpack |
Any backpack that has a secure slot or a weapon slot available is great |
|
Tactical |
Snapshot/Flashbang/Smoke/Stim |
Snapshot is great to check for campers near the exfils. Flashbang is good in close quarters. Smokes are great if you don’t want to engage in combat |
|
Lethal |
Based on your preference |
Highly situational, so I can’t give one recommendation |
|
Field Upgrade |
DDOS/Portable Radar/Riot Shield |
DDOS is great for destabilizing annoying drones and killing enemy gadgets, radar helps if you suspect that an operator is in your vicinity, and riot shield is good if you’re caught in the open |
|
Healing |
Medkit + Bandages |
I usually don’t take Medkits, but they’re a must-have if you plan on raiding high-threat zones |
|
Self-Revive |
Good, but usually pointless |
Though less important than before, the Self Revive Kit is still good |
|
Killstreak |
UAV |
This is a bit of a luxury choice, but UAV has always been the best weapon against other players. Unless they’ve taken Thermal Padding in the Scout tree |
This loadout can be tweaked depending on your goals. For instance, if you plan to do safer stuff like raiding minor POIs like Clinics or Fire Stations, there’s usually no point in taking UAV with you. If you just want an extra backup option and not a full secondary weapon choice, just grab some weapon that soldiers drop. You can either increase the value of this loadout or decrease it, but you always want to have a good gun with Gunsmith attachments that fix the gun’s problems or extend its strengths further. The best upgrade is usually a larger magazine.

Best Loadout for Extreme Threat Modern Warfare 4 DMZ

There are a few Extreme Threat zones in DMZ, but they will give you a run for your money if you come in expecting it to be a walk in the park. Though you can raid them even with a budget loadout, you won’t get most of the cool stuff that’s seriously protected unless you’re really lucky or in a squad. The problem with Extreme Threat zones is that, much like everywhere else, you get progressively more enemies the longer you stay there, and that’s why you really want to invest in your gear. Here’s the best loadout for Extreme Threat zones in Modern Warfare 4 DMZ:
|
Slot |
Recommendation |
Explanation |
|
Main Weapon |
Han-86/Kastov 7.62/M4 |
Only go in with silencers and 60-round mags. Silencers help lower the tension in the zone, and 60-round mags help while fighting armored enemies. Pick up penetrative ammo as well. |
|
Secondary |
Signal 50/PPSH-41 |
Signal is pretty fast, so there’s less punishment for missing a shot, and the PPSH melts enemies up close. |
|
Plate Carrier |
3 Plate Vest |
If you thought that the rest of Hajin is crowded, wait till you get into these zones. They delete your armor in less than a second |
|
Backpack |
Any legendary backpack |
The more secure slots, the better, but honestly, if you go only for a certain piece of loot, a medium backpack will do |
|
Headgear |
Gas Mask/NVGs/Hazmat |
Depending on where you go, take the appropriate gear. Hazmats are only good for a Nuclear Plant and can be found there as well |
|
Tactical |
Smoke Grenade |
Breaks the line of sight for both close and distant enemies |
|
Lethal |
C4 |
Just brute-forcing the enemy won’t do cause you’ll often find lieutenants or bosses patrolling these hot zones, and C4 lets you play tactically without them blowing your scalp smoove off |
|
Field Upgrade |
Armor Box/Fulton |
You’ll burn through armor plates real fast, so this is the only time I recommend this field upgrade. Fulton is also super useful to avoid exfil campers |
|
Healing |
2 Medkits |
Take at least 2 if you go alone and if you have a self-revive kit. If you don’t, one is enough. If you have a Possum skill AND a self-revive, take 3 Medkits |
|
Self-Revive |
Yes |
Not a must-have, but lets you survive for far longer |
|
Fire Support |
Advanced UAV/Cross Fire |
AUAV can scare other players, and Cross Fire can kill bosses extra fast |
It might seem that you’re just throwing money at your screen and expect it to help, but you really need good gear to have a better chance of surviving the hordes you’ll find in the hot zones. Before going in, fully prepared, jump in on a free loadout and explore. You’re not risking anything, and hey, you might even find something useful and extremely rare over there.
Optimal Gunsmith Builds for Modern Warfare 4 DMZ

While I’m not gonna show you builds for each gun separately, I can give you a general idea of what you want to put on each weapon type, with some additions here and there. If you want a build for each gun, hit Codmunity or WZStats. Below is a table I’ve made to explain what you want to prioritize for each gun. Here are the optimal Gunsmith builds for MW4 DMZ:
|
Weapon Type |
Muzzle |
Barrel |
Optic |
Stock |
Magazine |
Flex slot |
Apex |
|
AR |
Suppressor or recoil-control |
Damage Range/bullet velocity |
2.1x |
Aim Idle Sway/ |
Biggest mag available |
Underbarrel or rear grip for quicker ADS |
Optional. Use only if it improves your intended range |
|
SMG |
Suppressor |
Range/velocity barrel |
No optic |
Mobility/ADS stock |
Extended mag |
Rear grip or laser for even quicker aiming |
Good when it improves stealth, handling, or close-range. Vel 46 has an OP Apex I always recommend putting on if you have money |
|
LMG |
Suppressor or recoil-control muzzle |
Range/recoil barrel |
2.1-4x optic |
Recoil stock |
Stock |
Underbarrel |
Mostly yes for Finn and APOC; situational for Type 73 |
|
Shotgun |
Suppressor or choke |
Damage range |
No optic |
Mobility stock |
Extended tube/magazine |
Laser |
Situational for Rezi 12; absolute meme for Warlord. Use it if you want to use psychological warfare on your enemies |
|
Marksman Rifle |
Suppressor |
Velocity/range barrel |
2.1-4x optic |
Aiming stability stock |
Extended mag |
Underbarrel or rear grip |
Pretty good for Oris; good for Mar-9; probably no for Mosin |
|
Sniper Rifle |
Suppressor |
Bullet velocity |
7x or higher |
Aiming stability stock |
Not necessary |
Rear grip/laser for quicker aim |
Use with Signal only if you plan on destroying a boss helicopter or tank; no for Astaroth; pretty good for KG-7 |
|
Pistol |
Suppressor |
Range barrel |
Reflex |
Handling stock where available |
Extended mag |
Laser/Trigger |
Generally no |
Your number 1 priority should always be magazine size, then a suppressor or a recoil control, depending on the weapon. After that, it’s not that straightforward. Usually, a stock or barrel is a good option, with an underbarrel being a close runner-up. For ARs, build to make it as average as possible. Their strength is in all-aroundness. Most of them don’t have significant downsides, except for Oden, don’t take Oden. SMGs and Shotguns are quite specialized. For them, lean towards quick aim and bigger mags. In the case of shotguns, build for a tighter spread. LMGs are only good against helicopters or AI crowds. Not as good against people due to the slow rate of fire. Marksman rifles and Sniper rifles work pretty similarly. The only difference is that Marksman should go for less range than snipers, typically around 50-100 meters. Snipers work well from mid to extremely long ranges.
F.A.Q
What is the best MW4 DMZ loadout?
For normal raids, I recommend a Han 86, M4, or Cronen Squall as your primary, Vel 46/Warlord/Oris as a secondary, 2-plate armor, a medium backpack, a useful tactical, healing, and a Field Upgrade such as DDOS or Portable Radar. This gives you enough flexibility for Dynamic Ops and most heightened-danger areas without risking your best stash gear every raid.
What is the best budget loadout for Modern Warfare 4 DMZ?
A Han-86 or .50 GS, 1-plate armor, small backpack, Smoke Grenade, and a couple of Bandages are enough for a cheap run. You can skip bringing a secondary and simply pick one up during the raid.
What’s the best loadout for hot zones in MW4 DMZ?
Bring a Han-86, Kastov 7.62, or M4 with a suppressor and a 60-round magazine, plus a strong secondary such as Signal 50 or PPSH-41. You also want 3-plate armor, suitable headgear, Smoke Grenades, C4, multiple Medkits, and preferably Self-Revive.
What is the best primary weapon for MW4 DMZ?
The Han 86 is one of the strongest general-purpose choices because it works in Budget, General, and Extreme Threat setups. Its availability and all-around performance make it easy to recommend even when you aren’t bringing premium gear.
What attachments are the best for MW4 DMZ?
Start with magazine capacity, then add either a suppressor or recoil-control attachment depending on the gun. After that, barrels, stocks, underbarrels, and handling attachments should be chosen around the weapon’s intended engagement range.
