Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Hajin Map Overview

Hajin is a massive new DMZ map featuring 13 Major Points of Interest as well as over 60 Minor named POIs, all sprinkled with multiple Locations of Interest (gas stations, police departments, etc.).

The areas presented on the map are distinct in appearance, serve different purposes, and pose different levels of Threat varying from Low to Extreme. In some places, you are only likely to find a few Tier 1 North Korean Grunts. In others, expect to fight a whole platoon of well-armed and well-positioned soldiers as well as an actual battle tank.

The whole area is essentially split into two distinct parts divided by a river. The (relatively) smaller western side of the map is mostly dedicated to two highly dangerous locations, both of which are somewhat secluded and have plenty of free space around them. The eastern side of the map is a mix of low-to-medium threat level locations packed closely to each other, with the notable Extreme Threat Level location positioned right in the middle of it all.

Currently, the northern part of the map, which is supposed to represent the Russian border, is absent from the game and covered by fog. This might change in future updates.

As expected, the playable area will slowly shrink due to the radiation threat, forcing you to leave more comfortable and secure positions, so there’s no way you can avoid open combat for the entire match — better use your time to prepare for it. The nuclear power plant itself is located in the north-eastern part of the map, so the players will have to move away into the dangerous western part of Hajin at some point.

While you can choose to move on your own feet for stealth purposes, Hajin offers several different means of transportation, including land vehicles, inflatable boats, helicopters, and even rail transportation. While you can’t control the latter, it is still a quick and reliable way to get to the desired spot, even if it's a bit too easy to track.

Before I get into describing each location in detail, let’s acknowledge the elephant in the room: Hajin is truly huge, and it’s going to take a while to get to know it better. The devs deliberately conceal a lot of information about the map so that all of us get to explore it for ourselves. I would imagine this will lead to quite a few meta shifts in priority spots in the first few weeks — as long as the map is properly balanced and there is no clear and obvious best strategy discovered right away.

Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Hajin All Map Areas Guide

I’ll start with the low-danger areas and will gradually move to the scariest ones, but, of course, the threat level is actually a bit more chaotic than that in the game.

Hajin is not created as a straight tunnel leading from low-level enemies to the high-level ones. Areas of different threat levels can be located right next to each other, and you’d better be aware of that before you decide to walk somewhere. In some cases, both Low- and High-Threat spots can be found within the same POI. However, there are also areas that are explicitly more dangerous than others, and some areas are designated chill zones.

Let’s take a look.

Mirae General Hospital

Threat Level: Low

Location: North Central Hajin, south of Cheongun Village, Northwest of NuriGO Mall.

As expected from a designated Hospital area, Mirae General is a peaceful location that can be easily and reliably accessed from different directions. If you don’t feel like you can get here on your own feet, you can rely on the train station located nearby.

The building is rather big, and it is surrounded by additional barracks and triage tents, so it’s easy to hide somewhere if you really need to. At the same time, the whole area is pretty open for snipers from the Mujin Pass, located a bit to the south, so you shouldn’t walk around carelessly.

The hospital interiors are about what you would expect from them, with multiple entrances,  corridors, and waiting rooms across several floors. While you probably won’t get lost here thanks to all the color-coded signs, there’s plenty of room for an ambush.

Songdo Wharf

Threat Level: Low

Location: Eastern Hajin City, straight East of The Grid.

Songdo Wharf is a big, non-threatening open space located at the edge of the map. As its name implies, it is a transport hub. What is misleading about it, however, is the fact that it also provides tram and monorail options aside from the expected boats.

Essentially, getting to the Wharf enables you to quickly move across the map at the cost of doing so in a rather predictable way. To make matters more interesting, a luxury apartment building is located right to the north of the area, meaning that you can become a very easy target with barely any options to hide yourself from direct fire.

Deadtown

Threat Level: Low to Medium

Location: Southwest Hajin, South of the Chang-san Air Base.

Blessed with another self-explanatory name, Deadtown is a deserted agricultural area packed with multiple small and short buildings, meaning that the opportunities to get a height advantage are fairly limited. The town is divided into the east and west parts, with the former being placed at a higher elevation and offering military resources, and the latter offering basic amenities like a Gas Station and a Clinic.

What’s interesting about this particular location is that it features a system of underground tunnels leading to two Re-Education facilities, both of which are Medium Threat Level locations.

Imjin Farmland

Threat Level: Low to Medium

Location: South-Southwest Hajin, Southeast of Deadtown

Imjin Farmland is a large and open floodplain area located at the farthest southern part of the map. This location is as open as it gets in Hajin, with very limited cover options across the wide space. If you combine it with the fact that the farmland features a prominent Rice Mill overseeing the entire area, you can quickly grasp what is going to happen here in almost every match.

The devs seem to insist on using vehicles in this area, and I’m not going to argue with them. However, you can still take the train if you don’t feel like driving.

Cheongun Village

Threat Level: Low to High

Location: Northern Hajin, North of Mirae General Hospital

Despite its rather basic name, Cheongun Village is one of the most unusual locations in Hajin for several reasons. First off, it’s located right next to the Russian Border, meaning that the future updates might affect this particular POI the most, so check it out in its current state before it’s too late.

Secondly, while the overall area is Low Threat, its central point, Heavenly Luck Casino, is actually High Threat, which is probably the single most drastic jump in spiciness Hajin has to offer. One time you visit Cheongun Village as a casual trespasser, but the next time you return there armed to the teeth and ready for the worst, which isn’t that common for a POI in MW4.

Finally, Heavenly Luck Casino itself is a memorable location that features an underground level as well as multiple halls with gambling machines, all placed in complete darkness that requires NVG to navigate it.

Cheonwang Peak Array

Threat Level: Medium

Location: Central Hajin, West of The Grid

Cheonwang Peak Array is arguably positioned closest to the center of the map, but it is a surprisingly secluded area. It is a set of TV-station-related buildings positioned at an elevation and surrounded by the forest. It might prove to be a bit challenging to infiltrate, but you’ll be rewarded with a nice view in all directions as well as a free, conveniently placed helipad.

Wolves Stadium

Threat Level: Medium

Location: South Central Hajin City, Northwest of Hajin River Heights, Southwest of The Grid

Wolves Stadium is mostly an open area that offers a lot of variety for its comparatively small perimeter. Apart from the stadium itself, you will find a heavily damaged luxury apartment block, an open-air theater, a bridge, a train station, and a park, all condensed within one space. The most useful building here was previously a Police Station, so it makes sense to try and get in for some goods.

Hajin River Heights

Threat Level: Medium

Location: Southeast Hajin, Southeast of Wolves Stadium, South of The Grid

Hajin River Heights is there to fulfill the fantasy of military action led in the cityscape, and it works really well. You have a bunch of apartments placed within tight streets, a massive bridge across the river, and a small improvised military base called Compound Echo.

The bridge is probably the most exciting aspect of this location, because it offers so many opportunities for outplays and ambushes, so make sure not to stare at it for too long: cross it ASAP or think of an entirely different route.

NuriGO Mall

Threat Level: Medium to High

Location: Northeast Hajin City, north of The Grid

NuriGO Mall is one of the most densely packed locations on the map, and it offers essentially everything you might want: a Police Station, a Clinic, a monorail, and a bunch of other buildings and facilities to loot and hide in. However, its location is also by far the most compromised one, since NuriGO Mall stands in the direct vicinity of the Haneul Nuclear Reactor, meaning that it will be poisoned first.

To make matters even more complicated, accessing the subterranean shopping district requires NVGs, and while you can risk it all and go in blind for the promise of loot, I advise against it.

Haneul Nuclear Reactor

Threat Level: Medium to High

Location: Northeast Hajin, East of Cheongun Village, North of NuriGO Mall

The epicenter of the oncoming tragedy, the Haneul Nuclear Reactor complex is already incredibly radioactive, meaning that any player trying to enter it without proper protection is going to die within a short amount of time. There are several ways to get here, like using an underground tunnel or a boat, but most of what you’ll get is a tactical advantage, as long as massive clouds of smoke don’t annoy you when you try to aim from afar.

14th Political Prison

Threat Level: High to Critical

Location: Northwest Hajin, north of the Chang-san Air Base

14th Political Prison is an isolated facility situated within the forests on the northern side of the map. Walking into it by random chance during exploration is impossible: the prison is surrounded by a massive wall coupled with defensive towers. Even if you manage to get through the internal perimeter, the Y-shaped Citadel inside might prove to be too difficult for you.

The prison is built to ensure that any attempt to attack it is going to be performed at a disadvantage. It’s really hard to find a decent spot here and avoid being surrounded, and even if you do, you are still going to be heavily outnumbered.

The Grid

Threat Level: Critical to Extreme

Location: Central Hajin City, north of the Wolves Stadium

The Grid is a massive fortification built inside the central business district of Hajin, so you will likely circle around it for a long time. However, entering it is a death sentence: you have lots of armed troops ready to shoot you on sight, watchtowers, and all sorts of barricades to deal with.

The worst part here is the fact that you’re going to be stuck in a maze of buildings with no obvious ways to escape and limited cover options. Now add two skyscrapers with snipers to the mix, and you’ll immediately get why The Grid is one of the most dangerous places in Hajin.

Chang-san Air Base

Threat Level: Critical to Extreme

Location: Western Hajin, north of Deadtown

Chang-san Air Base is the best-fortified POI in Hajin, and finding a way to breach these fortifications is going to be incredibly difficult. You are met with cliffs, walls, multiple guards, watchtowers, and a toxic pool thrown into the mix — because why not? Just when you think you’ve managed to secure the Air Base for yourself, you’ll learn that there is an entire underground layer to it that spans far beyond the ground base’s borders.

That said, if you do take it under your control, there are lots of goodies to enjoy: helipads, weapons, supplies, and the base itself, which is located as far from the nuclear threat as it is possible.

Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Hajin Locations of Interest

While all the apartment buildings, malls, bridges, and nuclear plants might be interesting to visit to take a picture or shoot someone, you are most likely going to spend your time in Hajin fighting for loot and resources, making Locations of Interest your utmost priority.

There are also 60 Minor Points of Interest, which mostly consist of smaller-scale locations, like dams and riversides.

What are Locations of Interest in Modern Warfare 4 DMZ?

Locations of Interest exist to provide players with resources (be it ammunition, weapons, or medicines) or intel. Unlike Points of Interest, LOIs are smaller in scale and usually consist of a single structure or a building with a clearly defined purpose and predictable loot.

What are Threat Levels in Modern Warfare 4 DMZ?

Threat levels signify the presence of non-player-controlled enemy forces in the area. They exist to help operators better navigate the map and make meaningful choices by analyzing risks. Low Threat Level areas are safer, but also less rewarding, and vice versa.

What are the most dangerous areas in Modern Warfare 4 DMZ?

The Grid and Chang-san Air Base are the most dangerous Points of Interest in Hajin. Both are fortified and heavily protected bases packed with well-trained soldiers willing to shoot on sight. Only try to take control of these areas if you are truly capable of handling the heat.
