How to Get Access to Fortnite Pirate Shop

Fortnite Pirate Access Shop Infographic

So you know how Fortnite has accumulated gazillions of skins from all kinds of collaborations and OCs? I guess getting all of them would cost you an arm and a leg, and perhaps another arm and a leg, not to mention that some of them were time-limited. Well, now you can get any skin that’s currently in the shop’s rotation, given you’re lucky enough to get access to it with a special token that drops from treasure chests with a low chance. In a new mini-season titled “Treasure Hunters”, we get an unprecedented display of generosity from the developers that lets you get any V-Bucks-purchasable skin, Pickaxe, sidekick (limited to one-time only for some reason), and basically any cosmetic. Note that I specified that it should be a V-Bucks purchase. Can’t get cosmetics that can only be bought with real money. If you’re drooling at the thought, let me make it even better for you. Here’s how to get access to the Fortnite Pirate Shop:

  1. Loot Treasure Hunt Chests: They’re not different from usual chests, so there’s no way of telling whether the chest drops new event loot or not
  2. Get a Pirate Shop Access Token: These tokens are extremely rare. According to dataminers, the chance of getting them is around 0.00014%, though the info is unconfirmed.
  3. Activate Token in the Shop: Once you get a lucky token, head to the shop where you’ll see a prompt that says “Plunder the Item Shop”. Tokens have two variations: one can be activated up until 15 December 2026, and another can be activated from 1 January 2027 until 15 December 2027. You don’t have to activate it right as you get it, just make sure to activate the 2026 one by the date of expiry.

Once you activate the Pirate Shop Access Coin, you will get free items for 14 days, so with all the shop resets, you get all the cosmetics you can get with V-Bucks. That’s a sweet deal if I've ever seen one. The downside is obvious. Farming this token will take you hours of grinding due to its low drop chance. Not every Treasure Chest you open will give you this desired reward. There are other things that drop from them.

All Rewards from Fortnite Pirate Treasure Chests

Fortnite Pirate Access Treasure Rewards

While the Pirate Shop token is the main reason to farm the treasure chests, the rewards are not limited to it. The treasure chests that contain the rewards aren’t any different from normal chests visually. Allegedly, opening a blue chest has a bigger chance of giving you a Token, but that’s purely anecdotal, and there’s no evidence that this is true. When you open the chest that contains any of the following rewards, it’ll play an explosion animation and drop something from this list of all rewards from Fortnite Pirate Treasure Chests:

Some of these rewards, such as Uzi’s cosmetics, London Jam Track, So Kawaii loading screen, and the Gold Cadillac Blackwing vehicle skin, will only drop during the second week of the Treasure Hunters event in Fortnite. The rest are available right now. From personal experience, Gizmos seem to be the most frequent drop from this pool, so if you see a special animation when the chest opens, don’t get your hopes up yet. Now, how do you even farm these Pirate Treasure Chests?

Fortnite Pirate Shop Access Farm

Fortnite Pirate Shop Access Token

Unfortunately, there’s no predetermined path that you can take to maximize your chances of getting the cherished Pirate Shop token. There are, however, a few ways that tilt the odds in your favor. Here are the best Fortnite Pirate Shop Access farm ways:

  1. Play With More People: Playing in squads is gonna be your best bet since more people = more ground covered. Not only that, but if just one player from your squad finds this token, the whole squad gets one automatically, so there’s no bad blood between you if that happens.
  2. Fortune Sprites: The latest added sprites are the second-best option for getting the Pirate Shop Access coin. They highlight the chests through walls. Combined with the first method of farming, they will have an even better effect on your grind. Still, even if you’re playing solo, these sprites will help you immensely.
  3. Opening Rarer Chests: While there’s no factual information on increased drop chances from blue chests, they always drop rarer loot, which might influence the Pirate Treasure drops too.

Playing in squads is the best way to farm Fortnite Pirate Shop tokens, hands down. If you decide to gather a squad for purpose farming, there’s no doubt that eventually you’ll get one, unless RNG gods have cursed you. But I’d say just play the game as usual. It’s not Diablo, after all.

How Fortnite Pirate Shop Access Works

Fortnite Pirate Access Guide How To Unlock

Once you activate Pirate Shop Access, eligible items in the Fortnite Item Shop become free for the next 14 days. You still have to open the shop and claim whatever you want, though. The game doesn’t just dump every skin from the rotation into your Locker automatically. Anything you claim during those two weeks stays on your account permanently, even after Pirate Shop Access expires. That’s why I wouldn’t activate the token the second you get it. Wait until there are at least a few cosmetics you actually want in rotation, then start the timer. Here’s what Pirate Shop Access lets you grab:

Can Get for Free

Not Included

V-Bucks Outfits

Real-money offers

Pickaxes

Battle Pass Levels

Back Blings

Battle Pass Rewards

Gliders

Gifting

Emotes

Cosmetics outside the current Item Shop

Jam Tracks

More than one eligible Sidekick

Other eligible V-Bucks cosmetics

Other excluded special offers

The important part here is V-Bucks cosmetics. If something normally costs real money instead of V-Bucks, Pirate Shop Access won’t make it free. Sidekicks also have a weird restriction where you can only claim one eligible Sidekick you don’t already own. Besides that, the whole point is pretty straightforward: for 14 days, you can raid the Item Shop like you own the place. Another thing worth remembering is that the timer starts when you manually activate the token, not when it drops from a chest. So if the current shop rotation is complete garbage, just hold onto it and wait for something better.

F.A.Q.

What is Fortnite Pirate Shop Access in Fortnite?

Pirate Shop Access is a special Treasure Hunters reward that temporarily makes eligible V-Bucks cosmetics in the Item Shop free. Once activated, the effect lasts for 14 days, and anything you claim during that period stays permanently in your Locker.

How do you get Pirate Shop Access in Fortnite?

You need to open Treasure Hunt Chests until a Pirate Shop Access token drops. The chests look the same as normal Fortnite chests, so there is no guaranteed location or visual indicator that tells you which one contains event loot.

How rare is the Pirate Shop Access token in Fortnite?

The exact drop rate has not been officially confirmed. Datamined information suggests an extremely low rate of around 0.00014%, but that number should be treated as unconfirmed until Epic publishes official odds.

When should you activate Pirate Shop Access in Fortnite?

You don’t have to do it the moment you get the token. Since the timer only starts after activation, it makes more sense to wait until the Item Shop has several cosmetics you actually want before beginning your 14-day period.

What can you get for free with Pirate Shop Access?

You can claim eligible V-Bucks Outfits, Pickaxes, Back Blings, Gliders, Emotes, Jam Tracks, and other supported Item Shop cosmetics. Real-money bundles, Battle Pass rewards and levels, gifting, and certain special offers are excluded.

Do Pirate Shop Access items stay after the token expires?

Yes. Anything you claim while Pirate Shop Access is active remains permanently on your account after the 14-day access period ends.

What is the best way to farm Pirate Shop Access?

Squads are the best option because several players can search for chests simultaneously, and the whole squad benefits if one member finds the token. Fortune Sprites also help by revealing nearby chests through walls.
