Best Sprites in Fortnite

There are currently 16 Sprites in the game, excluding the variants. With variants, this number bumps up to 61. You can master each of them, gaining lots and lots of Sprite Dust along with some other cool rewards. It seems the internet already has an agreement on which Sprites are the strongest, but I was surprised to find out what other websites claimed to be the best Sprites. My Sprite tier list looks completely different:

C-Tier	Water Sprite, Grim Sprite

If you see Grim Sprite in C-Tier and are ready to tear me up, let me explain my point. It’s far too rare for it to be useful. It marks the target when they attack you, but more often than not, you already see them shooting! Not to mention that there’s an option that you can turn on that shows the general direction from which you’re being shot. Absolutely useless.  To be clear, I only rank the original versions of the Sprites cause variants don’t change the original effect and just add some extra bonuses. Let me explain why the S-Tier Sprites are so strong.

Striker Sprite

The bonus is simply too hard, and its being Epic is just too good. You don’t even have to master it cause its effects are simply insane. Striker Sprite grants you the Overdrive effect every time you Mantle, Hurdle, or Wall Scramble. Do you already see it? You can abuse this effect endlessly by hurdling a wall. Mastering this Sprite prolongs the Overdrive effect from 6 to 10 seconds. But do you really need to? Overdrive is so strong that you never get a bad effect. It drops from Sprite Chests with a 5.74% chance. This Sprite is so good, in fact, that others can’t compete. Expect heavy nerfs, but abuse it while it’s here.

Demon Sprite

Another Epic Sprite with a crazy strong effect. Mythics need to step up their game, and the balance team needs to balance harder next time. This edgy boy gives you a Vampiric effect, though it’s worded differently in the game. You steal opponents’ shields and HP when you kill them. Though this might sound like not that good of an effect, consider this season’s gimmick of protecting the extraction zone to send your Sprite home and how many players come to these extraction zones. This Sprite makes it so much easier to withstand the enemy players going after you one by one. Mastering this Sprite increases its healing from 10 to 30 per elimination.

Aura Sprite

Shock Rock has one of the strongest effects in the game, and its being available as a glorified perk is so good it hurts. It’s yet another Epic Sprite. When will their domination stop? If you forgot what Shock Rock does, it lets you jump three times in the air. Unlike the normal version, where you could wear 6 stacks of them, with the Aura Sprite equipped, this effect only works once you do enough damage. This Sprite is very important to master since it decreases the amount of damage that you need to inflict to activate it. It goes from 175 to 75 damage to trigger the effect.

Fire Sprite

This lil dude is even lower in rarity. It’s a starter Fire Poke… uhhh, fire Sprite. That means that you can get him once you log into the game during this season. It deals Fire damage to your enemy once you deal enough damage. On the first level, it’s not that strong, but after you level it up to the 5th level, it can deal fiery damage every 50 damage done! Some people claim that it can hurt you, but idk how clumsy you should be for it to happen. If it’s even possible at all. It’s a great, cheap, damaging Sprite, so that’s why I rank it so high. The damage output increase is hard to ignore.

Punk Sprite

If you’re already familiar with the current meta state, you’re probably scratching your head. Most people consider it to be the worst Sprite, and it’s true, but only partially. Punk Sprite is a Magikarp in Fortnite. It does nothing until you hit level 5, which is the Max level of mastery you can reach with Sprites. Once it reaches it, it has a chance of activating the Infinite Ammo perk. The hate comes from the fact that it still might do nothing even after reaching level 5, so it’s an ultimate coin flip. When the effect activates, you get a golden glow around you, so you know that it’s the best time to fight. Punk Sprite is of Legendary rarity and has a 1.98% drop chance from the Sprite Chest.

Sprites and How to Use Them

Sprites, to put it bluntly, are match-wide perks that you can equip in the main menu, extract from the battle zone, and lose upon death. Yes, Fortnite manages to implement gaming trends into its gameplay successfully once again. This time it’s the extraction genre’s mechanics, if it wasn’t clear from the Burnt Peanut Sprite addition. You can find Sprites all over the map, but these are the spots where you’ll definitely find them:

• Sprite Chests: As the name suggests, it’s a chest that has Sprites
• Vaults: It’s harder to get inside them cause you need vault keys, but from my experience, you usually get better Sprites from them
• Relic Chests: Not as potent as Sprite chests, but are good nonetheless
• Bosses: Some Sprites drop from bosses. As a rule, they’re rarer versions or even variants

Apart from randomized Sprite spawns, you can get them from places that fit their element. Look for water Sprites near beach areas, earth Sprites in trees, and ghost Sprites only appear during nighttime. Getting a Sprite is half the trouble. You also need to extract it. You can do it at special locations that require you to activate them and then wait for some time. They’re very loud, so everyone in the vicinity will know that you’re trying to extract them. People usually try to extract rarer Sprites, so be ready to protect the little critter. After you extract the Sprite, it will be added to your collection in the main menu, and you can equip it from there. If you die in a match wearing it, you’ll also lose your Sprite, but you can resummon it using Sprite Dust.

 

 

How to Get Sprite Dust in Fortnite

Sprite Dust is a resource needed only for Sprite summoning. You can either summon them from your collection before the match or at Sprite Stations scattered around the map during the match. The best sources of Sprite Dust are:

• Sprite Extraction: If you manage to extract a Sprite, you’ll get Sprite Dust. The amount depends on the rarity of an extracted Sprite.
• Rewards Milestones: Since you can upgrade your Sprites to higher levels to improve them further, you get rewards for doing that. These rewards include Sprite Dust, so it’s recommended to level up your Sprites first.
• Duplicate Sprites: If you extract a Sprite that you already have, you’ll get way more Sprite Dust than if you were to extract it for the first time.

The biggest challenge here is obviously to manage your Sprite Dust amount. If you die in a match and don’t gain any Sprite Dust, you not only lose your currently equipped Sprite, but you also have to waste precious Dust on resummoning them. Keep it in mind. Luckily, it’s harder to kill you when you have Sprites equipped cause their effects can make a night-and-day difference in a shootout.

 

 

Variants and How They Work

Sprites can drop in variants, which are buffs to your Sprite’s performance. They’re not really groundbreaking in my opinion, but they decrease the drop chance even more. Some decrease the drop chance so hard that Sprites become nigh-impossible to get. Let me explain what they do. There are currently three extra Variants of Sprite drops:

Galaxy	More ammo when looting

There are more Variants to come, like Gem, Holofoil, Cube, and Quack. It’s unclear so far what the effects will be. The devs add them every week, so stay tuned for more bonuses. I’d say out of all of them, the Gummy Variant is the most useful for your economy and Galaxy is the most useful in general.
