How Blueprints and Weapon Manuals Work in MW4 DMZ

As casual as DMZ is compared to other extraction shooters, you really do start with nothing and have to resort to using weapons you pick up from defeated AI enemies. While you do unlock the Gunsmith at level 10 and gain the ability to install mods (not cheap) on your guns, you can’t use any gun in the game. To be able to just purchase any gun from the Gunsmith, you first need to find a weapon manual for that gun, and these manuals are just about the rarest type of loot in the game. That, and the gear recipes, also known as blueprints for better armor, backpacks, field upgrades, and whatnot, that you can then craft at the 3D printer as long as you have the crafting materials. In this guide, I will explain the best ways to farm weapon manuals and gear recipes in MW4 DMZ, as well as list the best places to loot that have containers with a high chance of spawning them inside.

So, essentially, you have 3 types of these documents:

Here's how they work:

Unlock type

What it does

How to obtain it

Weapon Manual

Permanently unlocks the corresponding base weapon for purchase in the Gunsmith

Find and successfully extract a Manual

3D Printer Recipe

Permanently unlocks a craftable item, such as a backpack or armor vest

Extract Recipe loot, complete DMZ Orders, or progress through DMZ Levels

Weapon Blueprint

Provides access to a unique weapon build, potentially allowing you to purchase that weapon without its Manual

Unlock through the game's applicable Blueprint reward systems - store, promotions, special events, etc.

You don't need to find a Manual to use a weapon you've picked up during a deployment. However, extracting with an ordinary weapon isn't the same as permanently unlocking its base version. Once you lose that weapon, you'll need to find another copy or have another way to purchase it.

On top of that, it’s worth mentioning that there are 3 starter guns that don’t need the manual to buy them at the Gunsmith. Those guns are:

  • Han 86
  • PPHS-41
  • Sang 9mm

If you have a weapon blueprint but not the weapon manual for that gun, you can still buy the build of that gun using the blueprint; it would just cost a lot of DMZ cash to do so. The first use of a blueprint is always free. So, in a way, you can get away with it, as long as you have the cash. That’s something that’s been highlighted by Windowscentral as well.

Of course, you gotta focus on actually finding the weapon manuals so that at any point you can just throw together a quick loadout with any weapon you need for the situation.

Best Ways to Farm Blueprints and Weapon Manuals in MW4 DMZ

Let me start with the bad news first - there isn’t a guaranteed way or a place to farm weapon manuals, apart from specific mission rewards, of course. The only way this is done is by hitting as many places with specific loot containers in them to increase the chance of finding any weapon manuals or recipes. I want you to have this sort of picture or plan in your head:

  1. More dangerous location on the map = higher chances of rare loot in the containers
  2. Best loot containers are military lockers and boxes, as well as safes
  3. Military containers and safes in highly dangerous zones = high chance of finding weapon manuals, recipes.
  4.  And even if you don’t find any, you’ll still get the loot that makes it worth your time.

According to community reporting from an Infinity Ward developer Q&A, green military containers and safes are two of the intended sources for Weapon Manuals. However, players have also documented drops from duffel bags, medicine cabinets, footlockers, and other ordinary containers.

Here are the main sources worth checking:

Loot source

Where to find it

Farming value

Locked armories and weapon stashes

Police stations, military facilities, secret rooms

One of the strongest methods for concentrated high-value loot

Safes

Compounds, apartments, offices, military facilities

Valuable loot with a chance of Manuals and Recipes

Green military containers

Compounds, barracks, bunkers, military installations

Developer-recommended Manual source

Weapon lockers and cases

Armories, police stations, train, restricted areas

Weapons, valuable equipment, and possible unlocks

Duffel bags

Barracks, train, apartments, offices

Documented source of both Manuals and Recipes

Footlockers

Military barracks and restricted facilities

Documented Recipe drops and possible Manuals

Medicine cabinets and first-aid kits

Bathrooms, clinics, fire stations, train

Documented Recipe drops; Manuals also reported

Filing cabinets and toolboxes

Offices, commercial buildings, miscellaneous facilities

Less obvious sources of Recipes and potentially Manuals

Enemy Operator backpacks

Eliminated players

Can contain Manuals or Recipes collected by that player

Irradiated Container processing

Haneul Nuclear Reactor 02

Special method with reported high-value weapon rewards

I would focus on locked weapon storage whenever I have the required keys. Otherwise, military compounds and barracks are excellent alternatives because they provide multiple chances without requiring special items.

One thing I wouldn't recommend is searching exclusively for a particular container type. We've got documented Weapon Manual drops from blue duffel bags, for example, so ignoring ordinary loot containers can mean walking straight past something valuable.

Farm Weapon Manuals in Locked Rooms and Armories

If I had to recommend one overall farming strategy, it would be collecting keys and using them to open locked weapon storage. This appears to be more consistently rewarding than endlessly repeating a route through ordinary buildings.

Keys can open everything from small weapon lockers to underground armories and entire restricted sections of major facilities. The advantage is that these locations usually concentrate valuable containers in a relatively small space. You actually get quite a lot of keys by just playing. As you complete orders, story missions, and stuff, you get keys. You also get them from some survivor kits

I recommend prioritizing keys with descriptions mentioning:

  • Armories and weapon lockers.
  • Militia weapons or weapon storage.
  • Black Market Stashes.
  • Secret rooms in military facilities.
  • Restricted vaults and underground storage.

One of my favorite keys, which is a pretty common one, is called Black Market Weapons Locker Key. A few places on the map, such as Deadtown and Hanrim Village (arguably a less popular player destination). Both places have a very specific store building that clearly sells contraband such as VHS tapes, TVs, and other stuff. There’s an open wall passage behind the counter which leads into the basement. In there, you will find a few weapon crates as well as 2 military-grade weapon lockers that the key unlocks. Now, if you bring a friend with the same key, you can open both. I love this place simply because even if I don’t have the key, I still go there to find weapons.

Best Weapon Manual and Recipe Farming Locations

Some locations stand out because they contain several safes, military containers, or locked rooms. Others are worth visiting because a Story Operation provides a convenient spawn nearby. I'll cover the most promising locations individually, including what to search and whether any special access is required.

Chang-san Air Base Barracks

Chang-san Air Base is probably the first dedicated farming location I would try if I didn't have a collection of useful keys. It's a Critical Threat area, but you don't actually need to fight your way through the entire military base. There's a comparatively straightforward route into the barracks near the perimeter wall.

To reach the farming location:

  1. Select Operation Iron Citadel before deploying.
  2. Follow the Air Base perimeter wall from the starting area.
  3. Look for the broken section of the concrete wall.
  4. Climb through and approach the three nearby barracks buildings.
  5. Search all three buildings, including their sleeping quarters and bathrooms.
  6. Leave through the same opening and head to an exfil.

These buildings contain numerous blue duffel bags, green footlockers, lockers, and medicine cabinets. Don't focus exclusively on weapon storage. Some of the most interesting Recipe drops have come from bathroom cabinets, which are easy to overlook.

Here are some unlocks documented in these barracks:

Unlock

Container

Type 73 Weapon Manual

Blue duffel bag

Launcher Weapon Manual

Reported during repeated barracks runs; exact container not specified

Zip Gun Recipe

Blue duffel bag

Combat Drone Recipe

Green footlocker

Drill Charge Recipe

Bathroom medicine cabinet

Pain Killers Recipe

Bathroom medicine cabinet

Energy Drink Recipe

Bathroom medicine cabinet

Large Scavenger Backpack Recipe

Reported during repeated barracks runs; exact container not specified

Small Secure Backpack Recipe

Reported during repeated barracks runs; exact container not specified

Two-plate armor Recipe

Reported during repeated barracks runs; exact variant and container not fully established

These findings come from all over the place - Reddit posts, YouTube videos, allthingshow, etc.

These barracks are packed with searchable containers, and Operation Iron Citadel makes them relatively quick to access. Even unsuccessful Manual runs can provide valuable FOB upgrade materials.

Cheonwang Peak Array

Cheonwang Peak Array is another location I would prioritize, particularly when I want to farm safes rather than spend time searching every cabinet inside a building.

The main attraction is that the facility contains three safes spread across three different buildings. There's also a large server room containing valuable electronics and FOB upgrade materials. If you want to learn more about the BOF itself, I recommend checking out my DMZ Beginner guide.

Here's where to look:

Location inside the facility

What to search

Main tower building with the pylon

Safe on the fourth floor

L-shaped building

Safe on the second floor, accessed by stairs at the back

Smaller building near the facility perimeter

Safe on the ground floor

Main tower server room

Numerous searchable server racks containing electronics and rare components

Operation Silent Ledger can provide a convenient starting position for reaching the area. The safe in the tower is particularly interesting because the surrounding building has a large number of searchable servers. One documented run yielded a Medium Weapon Backpack Recipe from a safe and valuable components from the server room. I would loot all three safes first, then decide whether I have enough time and backpack space to search the servers. If I'm specifically farming Manuals, I don't want to spend the entire deployment collecting CPUs and other materials.

Military Compounds Across Hajin

Military compounds are one of the most flexible farming options because they're scattered around Hajin. These small fortified camps contain soldiers, searchable military equipment, and frequently a safe. Some compounds have hidden entrances along their walls, allowing you to sneak inside without attacking the main gate. Entering also activates a side objective to clear the compound of enemy forces. The most useful things to search are safes, weapon lockers, military bags, green crates, and tents or small buildings containing equipment.

There are several particularly interesting compounds and nearby routes:

Area

Why visit

Haneul Nuclear Reactor entrance

Compound close to the Operation Fallen Ember starting location

Hajin River Heights

Compound with an underground parking-area safe near the apartment buildings

Cheonwang Peak Array vicinity

Can be combined with the three-safe Array route

Northern and western Hajin

Several compounds suitable for a longer vehicle-based loot run

Some compounds don't always have a safe, so it's worth checking the rest of their containers rather than assuming something is wrong when one doesn't appear. A major advantage is the availability of LTVs at compounds. You can clear one, collect the loot, take its vehicle, and drive directly to the next location. One documented multi-compound run produced several Recipes, two Gold Skulls, valuable crafting ingredients, and approximately 161,000 DMZ Cash in extraction value. That doesn't mean every run will pay out similarly, but it shows why combining compounds can be more rewarding than searching one random building for twenty minutes.

Police Stations and Black Market Stashes

Police stations are another good choice because they offer both ordinary equipment farming and access to locked armories. They're especially useful after losing an Operator's equipment, since you can find armor, weapons, and other essentials while looking for Manuals. Most stations have several floors containing lockers, cabinets, desks, and bags. More importantly, some stations have a basement armory that requires a Police Armory Key. The interesting part is that you can sometimes find the required key inside the same police station.

Here's how I would approach this:

  1. Find a police station using the badge icon on the Tac-Map.
  2. Search the accessible floors for an armory key.
  3. Check the basement or lower-ground floor for the locked armory entrance.
  4. Unlock the armory and search its rifle cases and weapon lockers.
  5. Check for nearby Black Market Stashes if you have the corresponding keys.

The larger police station near Wolves Stadium is particularly interesting because its armory reportedly contains more weapon storage than some smaller stations. I wouldn't call police stations a guaranteed Manual farm, though. They're better viewed as places where you can collect weapons, search multiple containers, and potentially find keys that lead to even more valuable loot.

Gangon Apartments A and B

The apartment buildings near the compound at Hajin River Heights offer one of the more unusual farming routes. Instead of simply walking through the front door, you can enter Apartment A through an underground route or use a parkour shortcut to reach its upper floors. The ultimate goal is to enter Apartment B, which contains more valuable weapon storage.

To farm this location:

  1. Deploy using Operation Shopping Hacks for a convenient starting position.
  2. Travel to the compound near the apartment buildings.
  3. Search the safe in the underground parking area.
  4. Enter Apartment A through the parking area or the upper-floor parkour route.
  5. Search Apartment A for the Apartment B Key.
  6. Reach Apartment A's rooftop and cross over to Apartment B.
  7. Search the safe on Apartment B's rooftop.
  8. Unlock Apartment B and search its rooms and weapon lockers.

Apartment B reportedly contains a weapons locker holding two weapons, alongside containers that can produce Recipes or Weapon Manuals. The drawback is that this is a known PvP hotspot. Other players can enter the apartments through the same routes, so I wouldn't spend too long searching every piece of furniture if I heard another squad nearby.

Moving Train

The moving train is one of the easiest locations to recommend for players who aren't ready to challenge high-threat military facilities. Its position appears on the Tac-Map, and you can board it from accessible stretches of track. I recommend getting on around Imjin Farmland if the train's route makes that convenient. Once aboard, work through the carriages from the back toward the front.

There are numerous searchable containers, including:

  • Duffel bags and suitcases on passenger seats.
  • Green military lockers.
  • Supply crates.
  • Wall-mounted medicine cabinets.
  • Additional bags and luggage in the corridors.

The front section is particularly worth checking because it contains supply crates and several military lockers. A Sang 9mm Weapon Manual has been documented inside a blue duffel bag on the train while traveling through Cheongun Outskirts. Other runs have produced valuable crafting materials and keys. I like the train as a secondary farming option. If I'm already close to it, I'll make a stop and search everything, but I wouldn't necessarily chase it across the map when I have keys for a valuable armory.

Underground Bunkers Near Chang-san Air Base

Another easily overlooked farming location is the network of small underground bunkers near Chang-san Air Base. There are reportedly around six of them, recognizable by circular structures visible on the Tac-Map. These bunkers contain hallways, storage rooms, military lockers, caches, and shelves with miscellaneous equipment. You can enter through the underground access points and leave using the ladder leading up through the silo hatch. They're particularly useful when spawning on the western outskirts of Hajin, as you can search them before moving toward the busier central areas. I wouldn't prioritize these for Weapon Manuals over locked rooms or the Air Base barracks. However, they're worth checking for weapon upgrades, backpacks, field equipment, and other items needed to recover after losing your gear.

How to Farm Weapon Manuals With Irradiated Containers

Irradiated Containers are one of the more interesting alternatives to ordinary loot farming. Instead of opening the container where you find it, you take it to Haneul Nuclear Reactor and use a special machine to process it. The reported rewards can include rare equipment, legendary weapons, crafting materials, and Weapon Manuals. One gameplay breakdown identifies a KG-7 Vulcan Weapon Manual obtained through this method. The main challenge is finding an Irradiated Container in the first place and then surviving the radiation inside the reactor.

Where to Find Irradiated Containers

According to what other players claim, Irradiated Containers can appear in chemical storage containers found at clinics and other facilities around Hajin. Unfortunately, we don't yet have a reliable list of fixed spawn locations. I would check chemical storage when exploring clinics and medical facilities, but I wouldn't claim that every such location contains one. Once you've found an Irradiated Container, keep it and prepare for a trip to the reactor.

How to Process an Irradiated Container

Here's the process:

  1. Find an Irradiated Container and bring it into a deployment.
  2. Travel to Haneul Nuclear Reactor, preferably using the Operation Fallen Ember story mission for a nearby starting location.
  3. Collect Durable Gas Masks or other radiation protection before entering.
  4. Make your way into Reactor 02.
  5. Locate and activate the processing panel.
  6. Place or process the Irradiated Container using the machine interaction.
  7. Wait approximately 5–10 seconds for the machine to finish.
  8. Search the processed container and collect its rewards.

The exact route through the reactor is easier to follow visually than through written directions, and the available transcripts don't explain the entire reactor puzzle. However, they establish the intended processing interaction inside Reactor 02. Radiation protection is essential.

I actually struggled to locate Reactor 02 until I read its description in the Official Hajin Map and Location Guide because most of that place is occupied by Reactor 01, which has the most entry points.

The reactor is a dangerous area, and relying on a single gas mask can leave you scrambling for an exit before finishing the process. You can also find Hazmat Suits inside the facility. The walkthrough identifies one on the wall opposite a computer in Reactor 01, which can provide additional time to explore. My main advice is to prepare everything before entering. If I already have an Irradiated Container, I'm not going to waste time looting random rooms while my radiation protection runs out. Are Weapon Manuals guaranteed from Irradiated Containers? No confirmed guarantee has been established.

Best Locked Loot Rooms for Weapon Manuals

Once you've completed several Story Operations, you'll gain access to keys and access cards that open some of Hajin's most valuable loot rooms. These are worth keeping because they can provide access to several weapon lockers, safes, and other containers during a single visit. Here are the most interesting locations and how to reach them.

Supreme Leader's Bunker (Requires a Key)

The Supreme Leader's Bunker is located inside Chang-san Air Base and requires the Supreme Leader's Bunker Access Card, rewarded through Operation Iron Citadel. To access it, enter Admin Complex 2 and look for a staircase leading down from the ground floor. Follow the underground corridors until you reach the secured bunker entrance.

Inside, you can search several rooms, including the bedroom and weapons storage area. The main containers worth targeting are:

  • The footlocker in the bedroom.
  • Weapon lockers containing valuable guns.
  • The Lieutenant's Crate inside the weapons bunker.
  • Additional bags and loot containers throughout the bunker.

The Lieutenant's Crate is the main attraction because it can contain powerful weapons and potentially Recipes or Weapon Manuals. It's a valuable location, but the surrounding Air Base is dangerous. I would bring a well-equipped Operator and avoid spending too much time fighting enemies outside the bunker.

Reactor DRC Locker (Requires a Key)

The Reactor DRC Locker is another highly valuable locked container, accessible using a key rewarded through Operation Fallen Ember. It's located inside Haneul Nuclear Reactor 02, underwater beneath the reactor. To find it, enter Reactor 02, reach the irradiated pool, and swim to the locked DRC Weapons Locker.

The container is classified as an Elite Weapons Locker and can hold rare weapons, valuable equipment, Recipes, and Weapon Manuals. A documented run produced a MAR-9 Weapon Manual and a Large Secure Backpack. This is an excellent location to combine with Irradiated Container processing, provided you're properly equipped for the reactor.

Heavenly Luck Casino Counting Room (Requires a Key)

Heavenly Luck Casino has several valuable loot areas, but the Counting Room is particularly interesting because it connects to an additional vault. You'll need the Casino Counting Room Vault Key, obtained through the casino's Story Operation. For convenient access, select Operation Silent Ledger and head into the casino.

The route described in the walkthrough is straightforward:

  1. Enter the casino through the front entrance.
  2. Turn right and continue through the nearby doorway.
  3. Follow the hallway and enter the rooms on the left.
  4. Locate the locked Counting Room entrance.
  5. Use the key to access the restricted area.
  6. Search the Counting Room and its adjoining vault.

Inside, you'll find cash, loot caches, weapon storage, and two additional safes within the small vault. It's worth visiting for Manuals and Recipes, but also for the considerable amount of sellable loot. If a run produces no unlocks, you can still extract with useful equipment and DMZ Cash.

Other Key-Locked Locations Worth Checking

There are several additional locations that have produced Recipes or Manuals in reported runs.

Location

Access or container

Documented or reported reward

Heavenly Luck Casino Vault Armory

Locked weapons storage

PPSh-41 Weapon Manual

Haneul Nuclear Reactor, Reactor 02

Restricted room

Smelling Salts Recipe

Deadtown Re-Education Center Annex

Locked room

2-Plate Ballistic Gel Vest Recipe

Police station armories

Police Armory Key

Valuable weapons; possible Manuals and Recipes

Black Market Stashes near police stations

Corresponding stash keys

Reported Weapon Manual drops

Cheonwang Peak Array

Central-building safe

PPSh-41 Weapon Manual

These are individual reported findings, not fixed drops. I would treat the table as a list of useful places to investigate when the corresponding keys happen to be available.

How to Farm Keys for Weapon Manuals

Since locked rooms are among the most promising Manual sources, getting keys efficiently is almost as important as knowing where the rooms are. The good news is that you don't need to focus on one specific activity to acquire them. Keys appear through various parts of regular DMZ gameplay, and you'll naturally build up a collection while searching containers and completing objectives.

Here are the methods I recommend:

  1. Complete Dynamic Operations. They offer useful rewards and opportunities to acquire keys while progressing through the map.
  2. Open supply drops and care packages. These can contain valuable equipment and keys.
  3. Search military compounds and police stations. They have plenty of containers, with the additional possibility of finding keys for nearby locked storage.
  4. Loot eliminated Operators. Other players may be carrying keys they've collected during their deployment.
  5. Search the train. Military lockers and other containers can provide keys alongside regular loot.

The goal is to build a supply of useful keys, not to open every locked room the moment you find its key. For example, if I collect keys for three locations close to each other, I would rather plan a single deployment around those locations than make three separate trips. Another trick is using additional Active Duty Operators to hold equipment and keys when your main Stash is full. This can help manage the large number of keys you'll eventually accumulate.

Best Farming Routes for Weapon Manuals and Recipes

After looking through the available locations, I would divide farming into a few different routes depending on equipment, keys, and how much risk you're willing to take. There's no point forcing a dangerous reactor run when you don't have the required protection, just as there's no reason to ignore a valuable armory key sitting in your Stash.

Farming route

Requirements

Main Targets

Best For

Chang-san Air Base barracks

Operation Iron Citadel

Three barracks buildings

Fast repeated Recipe farming, chance of Manuals

Cheonwang Peak Array

None; nearby spawn helpful

Three safes and military lockers

Safes, Recipes, valuables

Compound circuit

Vehicle recommended

Multiple military compounds

Safes, materials, Manuals and Recipes

Train sweep

Access to train tracks

Passenger bags, military lockers, supply crates

Lower-risk general farming

Police station armory run

Police Armory Keys, if found

Armories and nearby Black Market Stashes

Weapons, potential Manuals

Gangon Apartments A–B

Obtain Apartment B Key

Parking safe, rooftop safe, locked apartment

Concentrated loot and weapon storage

Haneul Reactor

Radiation protection; relevant keys or container

Irradiated Container processor and DRC Locker

Rare equipment and potential Manuals

Story Operation vaults

Mission reward keys

Supreme Leader's Bunker, Casino Counting Room

High-value locked loot

If I'm starting with little equipment, I would go for the train or an ordinary compound circuit. Both give me opportunities to find valuable items without requiring keys. For repeated Recipe farming, the Air Base barracks are hard to ignore because you can reach them quickly and search numerous containers. However, once I have several keys for locked armories or weapon storage, those become my priority. Based on the available firsthand testing, they appear to offer a better use of time for targeted Weapon Manual farming.

Tips to Find Weapon Manuals Faster

There are a few things I would keep in mind regardless of which route you're farming. Most importantly, don't confuse a productive loot run with a successful Manual run. Finding a legendary weapon and plenty of expensive components is nice, but if you're hunting one particular Manual, you need to maximize your opportunities to find it.

Here are my main recommendations:

  • Use Secure Slots for Manuals and Recipes. Compatible backpacks protect items placed in those slots if you fail to extract, which is especially useful when carrying rare unlocks.
  • Search everything in valuable locations. Manuals have been reported in unexpected containers, including medicine cabinets and duffel bags.
  • Prioritize keys that mention weapons. Armories, militia storage, and Black Market Stashes should be high on your list.
  • Don't obsess over high-threat zones. They offer valuable loot, but searching more containers efficiently can be better than fighting your way through one dangerous facility.
  • Use Story Operations to control your starting location. Operation Iron Citadel, Fallen Ember, Silent Ledger, and Shopping Hacks are particularly useful for reaching the routes described above.
  • Extract when you've found something important. Continuing to search while carrying an unprotected Manual introduces unnecessary risk.
  • Check your 3D Printer progression. Some Recipes unlock through DMZ Levels or Orders, so you don't necessarily need to farm them as random loot.

One other thing worth mentioning is that duplicate Weapon Manuals can still have a purpose. DK Dynamite reports a War Spoils camo challenge involving extracting three Manuals for the same weapon. That gives collectors a reason to pick up repeated Manuals rather than assuming they're completely useless. And if a popular farming route isn't producing anything worthwhile, change things up. The barracks are a perfect example: some players reported excellent results, while others found almost nothing after several runs. Sometimes moving to a different location or opening a few locked rooms is simply a better use of your time.

F.A.Q.

Where can I find Weapon Manuals in MW4 DMZ?

Weapon Manuals can appear in safes, military crates, weapon lockers, duffel bags, locked armories, and other containers throughout Hajin. These containers have a higher chance of spawning manuals in high-threat areas.

What is the fastest way to farm Weapon Manuals in MW4 DMZ?

For repeatable runs without special keys, Operation Iron Citadel provides convenient access to the Chang-san Air Base barracks. However, if you have keys for locked armories or weapon storage, I would prioritize those locations because firsthand reports suggest more consistent high-value loot.

Are Weapon Manuals guaranteed in Chang-san Air Base?

No. The chances of finding one are high, but never 100%.

Can you get Weapon Manuals from Irradiated Containers?

Yes, gameplay reports document Weapon Manuals as possible rewards from processing Irradiated Containers at Haneul Nuclear Reactor 02. You'll need to find a container, bring radiation protection, reach the processing machine, and collect the resulting loot. The exact drop rate isn't confirmed.

How do you unlock 3D Printer Recipes in MW4 DMZ?

Recipes can be unlocked through DMZ Player Level progression, completing DMZ Orders, or finding and successfully extracting the corresponding Recipe. After extraction, the Recipe automatically becomes available in the 3D Printer, and you receive 5,000 DMZ Cash.

Can Weapon Manuals spawn in ordinary duffel bags?

Yes. Documented examples include the Type 73 Manual from a blue duffel bag at Chang-san Air Base and the Sang 9mm Manual from a blue duffel bag on the moving train. This is why I recommend searching all containers in worthwhile loot areas instead of focusing only on safes.

Do Weapon Manuals permanently unlock guns in DMZ?

Yes. Successfully extracting a Weapon Manual unlocks the corresponding base weapon for future purchases through the Gunsmith. The unlock is permanent, although you'll still need to pay DMZ Cash whenever you purchase another copy of the weapon.

Can you lose Weapon Manuals if you die?

Yes, Manuals carried in ordinary backpack slots are at risk if you fail to extract. Secure Slots are particularly useful because they can preserve valuable items even when your Operator doesn't survive. I would always secure a Manual before taking unnecessary risks.

What is the best location for farming both Manuals and Recipes?

Chang-san Air Base barracks offer one of the most convenient combinations of accessible containers and documented unlock drops. However, for players with the necessary keys, I would also recommend the Supreme Leader's Bunker, Reactor DRC Locker, and other restricted weapons rooms.

Do higher-threat areas have better Weapon Manual drop rates?

High-threat military facilities do have an increased chance of finding rarer loot, which includes weapon recipes.
