What Is Ashtongue Deathsworn in TBC Anniversary?

Ashtongue Deathsworn is a faction of Broken Draenei loyal to Akama. In gameplay terms, it is the Black Temple reputation. You start at Neutral, build reputation through the attunement chain, and then continue farming it inside the raid.

Unlike other reputations, it’s much more locked to Black Temple itself. And to farm reputation for this faction, you’ll have to run Black Temple on a weekly basis. This isn’t the case with Lower City, for example, where you can just spam dungeons whenever you want and still farm rep. You’ll make your way from Neutral to Exalted, each level unlocking more rewards within the faction. I’ll share a full list of rewards for each rep level later in the guide. For now, let’s just take a look at what each level has to offer in general:

Those Shadow Resistance recipes you get from Friendly and Honored rep levels can be more useful than you think at first. You’ll need extra Shadow Resistance when fighting Mother Shahraz inside the raid. Aim for 100-150 Shadow Resistance from gear. Combined with the 70 SR from Prayer of Shadow Protection. Trust me, this will help a lot, and I highly recommend that you treat those rep levels just as high as you’d do it with Exalted.

How to Unlock Ashtongue Deathsworn Reputation

You unlock Ashtongue Deathsworn reputation by progressing through the Black Temple attunement questline. The chain starts through your Shattrath faction path, depending on whether you chose Aldor or Scryers. Eventually, you meet Akama and begin working with the Ashtongue. Around this point, the faction becomes visible, and you start gaining reputation.

By the time you finish the Black Temple attunement and can enter the raid properly, you should already be around Friendly. That is good because Friendly lets you use Okuno’s first reward tier.

Specifically for TBC Anniversary, you should know that raid attunements are account-wide once completed. This is actually a huge QoL change, and this will help you a ton when playing on another character. But progressing with the reputation levels is a separate thing, and you’ll have to work on it again if playing on a different character.

Best Way to Farm Ashtongue Deathsworn Reputation

You don’t have many choices on how you can farm Ashtongue Deathsworn reputation actually. It’s tied to completing Black Temple every week after you complete the attunement chain. This is basically the only way you can reach the final Exalted level. Your usual farming Ashtongue Deathsworn rep routine would look like this:

1. Complete the Black Temple attunement chain
2. Enter Black Temple every week
3. Kill as much trash as possible
4. Clear every boss your raid can kill
5. Finish the remaining Black Temple quests inside the raid
6. Repeat weekly until Exalted

It’s important that you finish the entire raid to get the maximum reputation per run. A full clear would give you roughly 7,700 reputation if you kill most of the available trash mobs on your way. Yeah, they don’t give that much rep (15 rep per kill), but this still matters if you do this every run. Since Neutral to Exalted is 42,000 reputation total, and the questline gives a decent starting push, most players should expect around five full Black Temple clears to reach Exalted.

Ashtongue Deathsworn Reputation Sources

The maximum rep gain happens when you clear the entire Black Temple raid. But you can get extra farm by doing other activities. The same goes for completing extra quests inside the raid and many more, don’t focus on taking bosses only:

Ashtongue Deathsworn Quartermaster Location

The Ashtongue Deathsworn quartermaster is Okuno. He is inside Black Temple, not standing outside like a normal reputation vendor. You’ll find him after progressing into the raid. Once Supremus is dead, Spirit of Olum can teleport players to Okuno, which makes buying recipes and trinkets much less annoying. You need raid access and enough progress inside Black Temple before you can buy stuff there.

Make sure you know when your guild is planning a vendor stop. Nobody wants to realize after raid that they forgot to buy the recipe they were farming reputation for.

 

Ashtongue Deathsworn Rewards in TBC Anniversary Phase 3

Ashtongue Deathsworn rewards are spread across every reputation level, and each one offers something unique. For example, Friendly and Honored are centered around crafting recipes. I’ve mentioned that already, as those recipes are actually useful. Exalted is for class trinkets, as it’s the final and most desired level here. And Revered is just a middle step between those two with nothing too special to mention here.

Friendly Rewards

The Friendly rep level unlocks the first batch of Shadow Resistance crafting recipes.

Mother Shahraz is the biggest Shadow Resistance check during the Black Temple raid, and I’m not sure if you’ll ever take her down without those recipes you get at the Friendly rep level.

The Honored rep level unlocks the second batch of Shadow Resistance recipes.

These are cool rewards, but don’t assume every one is automatically best-in-slot forever. Check your class priority before spending gold and building your entire Exalted goal around it. Reputation will come naturally if you keep raiding Black Temple anyway.

Which Rewards Matter Most?

For guilds, the most important rewards are the Shadow Resistance recipes at Friendly and Honored. For individual players, the Exalted class trinket is the main priority in most cases. If you are a raider, your priority should look like this:

1. Finish Black Temple attunement
2. Get crafters to Friendly and Honored as early as possible
3. Prepare Shadow Resistance gear before Mother Shahraz
4. Keep full clearing Black Temple weekly
5. Buy your class trinket at Exalted if it is good for your spec

But don’t ignore those Shadow Resistance recipes, or you’ll never get through the raid after reaching Shahraz.

 

 

Best Farming Plan for Phase 3

I can split the entire farming plan into several weeks after the raid is available and after you’ve already done your Black Temple attunement.

• Before Your First Black Temple Raid: Finish the Black Temple attunement chain. Make sure your main character can enter the raid. If you are a guild crafter, stock up on materials for Shadow Resistance gear now. Primal Shadow, Primal Life, and Adamantite Bars. The Heart of Darkness itself drops only inside Black Temple and Hyjal trash, and you cannot pre-farm it. Have everything else ready so you can craft immediately after the Hearts land.
• Week 1: Clear as much Black Temple trash as possible. Push bosses as far as your guild can. If you can do early trash farms before boss lockout, use them to get crafters closer to Friendly or Honored. Buy the first needed recipes from Okuno as soon as possible.
• Week 2-3: Keep clearing. Focus on getting key crafters to Honored. Start crafting Shadow Resistance sets for players who need them for Mother Shahraz.
• Week 4+: Full clear weekly and let Exalted come naturally. At this point, your main reason to continue caring about Ashtongue reputation is your class trinket.

That’s the whole plan, nothing too special here. Just keep clearing Black Temple every time after the weekly reset. The Exalted rep level would be achieved that way easily.
