Sha’tari Skyguard Faction Explained

Sha’tari are a branch of Sha’tar from Shattrath City, serving as an air defense. They’re based in Blackwind Landing around Skettis in Terokkar Forest and Skyguard Outpost near Ogri’la in Blade’s Edge Mountains. Much like Ogri’la, they’re a faction that gives you daily quests as a main way to earn reputation, but unlike Ogri’la, the Sha’tari faction isn’t time-limited, which means you can grind them to speed up your reputation gain. I’m gonna tell you how you can do that later.

The only prerequisites to start your questline with Sha’tari Skyguard are flying and being level 70. You will not be able to access their faction hub without it. You start at Neutral reputation with Sha’tari, so you don’t need to gain their trust with a lengthy initial questline to start the reputation farming, as was the case with Ogri’la. Sha’tari’s questline starts in Shattrath City. Go and talk to Yuula (/way 64 42), and she will send you to Sha’tari’s first hub.

How to Go from Neutral to Exalted with Sha’tari Skyguard in TBC Anniversary Phase 2

Once you pick up the Threat from Above quest from Yuula and return to her with it completed, you’ll finally move on to Blackwind Landing, where the main faction questline starts:

Take the Time-Lost Offering prepared by Hazzik to the Skull Pile at the center of Skettis and summon and defeat Terokk. Return to Sky Commander Adaris when you've completed this task.

+1000

After completing the faction’s second quest, To Skettis!, you will unlock two daily quests:

  • Fires Over Skettis: Seek out Monstrous Kaliri Eggs on the tops of Skettis dwellings and use the Skyguard Blasting Charges on them. Return to Sky Sergeant Doryn. +350 Rep.
  • Escape from Skettis: Escort the Skyguard Prisoner to safety and report to Sky Sergeant Doryn. +150 Rep.

If you don’t have enough time to finish the whole questline in one go, don’t forget to at least complete the dailies so that they reset tomorrow to maximize the rep gains and so you don’t farm it longer than you should. Another important quest is World of Shadows. After you complete it, a new repeatable quest titled “More Shadow Dust” becomes available. Unlike dailies, it’s not limited to 1 time a day, and you can do it repeatedly, gaining 150 Rep each time. You do it by collecting Shadow Dust x6, just like in the main quest. Note that you can just buy Shadow Dust from Auction, but it’s gonna be a bit pricey, so check this link if you need TBC Gold.

Doing this quest is important for one more reason. It gives you Elixir of Shadows each time you complete it. Elixir of Shadows is one of the most important items for farming Sha’tari Skyguard’s reputation. It allows you to see Time-Lost Skettis, who are ghostly Skettis, otherwise invisible without the item.

How to Unlock Extra Dailies for Sha’tari Skyguard

If you thought that this was it, you’re wrong. There’s a second questline that eventually will unlock two more dailies that will bring rep gains both for Sha’tari and Ogri’la. Unfortunately, doing it requires you to progress the Ogri’la faction first, and that’s why I recommend doing both factions’ quests simultaneously. There’s a full guide about the Ogri’la faction that I wrote. After Ogri’la’s “Guardian of the Monument” quest, two of the factions start having common quests that grant rep towards both of them. This is how to unlock extra dailies for Sha’tari Skyguard:

Quest

Task

Rep Gain

The Skyguard Outpost

Chu'a'lor has asked you to speak with Sky Commander Keller at the Skyguard Outpost atop the Blade's Edge Mountains.

+10 Sha’Tari Skyguard Rep

Bombing Run

Sky Sergeant Vanderlip has tasked you with the bombing of 15 Fel Cannonball Stacks. Return to her at the Skyguard Outpost atop the Blade's Edge Mountains once you have done so.

+500 Ogri’la & Sha’tari Skyguard Rep

Assault on Bash’ir Landing!

Sky Commander Keller has asked you to speak with the Aether-tech Apprentice at the Skyguard Outpost in the Blade's Edge Mountains.

+10 Sha’Tari Skyguard Rep

Wrangle Some Aether Rays!

Skyguard Khatie has asked you to wrangle 5 Aether Rays. After you have done so, return them to her at the Skyguard Outpost atop the Blade's Edge Mountains.

+500 Ogri’la & Sha’tari Skyguard Rep

Group Quest: To Rule The Skies

Sky Commander Keller has asked you to acquire Dragon Teeth and return them to him at the Skyguard Outpost atop the Blade's Edge Mountains.

+500 Sha’Tari Skyguard Rep

Completing the Bombing Run and Wrangle Some Aether Rays! unlocks two new daily quests that bear almost the same names:

  • Bomb Them Again!: Sky Sergeant Vanderlip has tasked you with the bombing of 15 Fel Cannonball Stacks. Return to her at the Skyguard Outpost atop the Blade's Edge Mountains once you have done so. +500 Rep to both factions.
  • Wrangle More Aether Rays!: Skyguard Khatie has asked you to wrangle 5 Aether Rays. After you have done so, return them to her at the Skyguard Outpost atop the Blade's Edge Mountains. +350 Rep to both factions.

Doing all quests will reward you with 1350 rep gain total, which is a minuscule amount compared to how much reputation you need to reach Exalted. As I mentioned before, doing quests is not the most effective way to gain it.

Fastest Way to Farm Sha’tari Skyguard Rep

First of all, you need to complete the whole quest chain. Don’t worry, I’m talking only about the first part, up until Terokk’s Downfall. Doing the quests in Skyguard Outpost is recommended, though not mandatory. If you were to run only daily quests, you’d spend around a month getting to Exalted. This is too long. Here’s the fastest way to farm Sha’tari Skyguard reputation:

  1. Do More Shadow Dust First: Get Shadow Dust by farming Arakkoa. Once you get 6 Dusts, go to Severin and give them to him. He’ll give you 150 rep and an Elixir of Shadows.
  2. Drink the Elixir: Now you can farm mobs that drop Time-Lost Scrolls. After getting 10 Scrolls, go to the Skull Piles and interact with them as you did during the Adversarial Blood quest. This summons four mini bosses, each worth 100 Rep, and they also drop their parts, which can be traded for 350 Rep and a Time-Lost Offering.
  3. Use Time-Lost Offering: Doing this summons Terokk, who grants 500 Rep upon kill. Be sure to gather a group, as it’s a boss fight. Terokk respawns every 15 minutes, so you can kill him and then do this route all over again.

This kind of farm usually nets you ~1400 Rep per full cycle, which can be repeated more than once. But this isn’t the only way to farm reputation. Every mob that you meet in Skettis grants Sha’tari Skyguard rep. I don’t understand why the developers didn’t allow this for Ogri’la, but oh well. I guess they had a vision. Here are the mob rep gains in Skettis:

Name

Rep Gain per Enemy Slain

Skettis Kaliri

+5

Monstrous Kaliri

+10

Any Arakkoa

+10

Talonsworn Forest-Rager

+30

Adversarial Blood bosses

+100 each and +350 for their loot

Terokk

+500

Talonsworn Forest-Rager is by far the best common mob to kill for faction rep. If you see it, always chase it. I don’t think you’ll be farming the mobs, though, since the method with More Shadow Dust described above is far superior. This is mostly a reminder for you not to skip mobs, as each one counts towards the Exalted faction level.

To get the faction rewards, find Grella (/way 64.5 66.0) in Blackwind Landing. Here are all the Sha’tari Skyguard reputation rewards in TBC Anniversary Phase 2:
