What is Omnium Folio in Midnight 12.0.7?

Omnium Folio is a new “borrowed power” system coming with patch 12.0.7, and it allows you to unlock a few more passive combat bonuses, which aren’t tied to any gear slot. And thank God for that! It adds some extra damage, healing, survivability, mobility, and secondary stat effects, based on your choices. The system will remain available throughout the rest of Midnight’s lifecycle.

To unlock this power system, you need to complete a questline called The Sunstrider Omnium, which starts in Thalassian University. Then, you get a weekly quest to unlock a new node each week until you unlock all five.

All Omnium Folio Powers

There are 5 nodes on the Omnium Folio tree, and every node, except the third one, gives you the choice between at least two powers. Here’s the full list:

Omnium Folio Node

Rune

Power Type

Effect

1

Rune of Void-Touched Orbs

Damage or healing

Every 10 seconds, you attract a Void Orb, up to 5 total. Your attacks send the orbs at enemies for Cosmic damage. Your healing spells send them to the lowest-health nearby ally for healing.

Rune of Unleashed Fire

Damage or healing

Your spells and abilities have a chance to call down a pillar of fire. It damages an enemy or heals a nearby ally.

2

Rune of Self-Mending

Self-healing

When you fall below 75% health, your Core Rune also heals you.

Rune of Void-Tainted Shell

Defensive absorb

When you take a hit worth more than 10% of your max health, you gain an absorb shield. Half of the absorbed damage lingers and is dealt to you over 10 seconds. This can happen once every 30 seconds.

Rune of Lynxlike Reflexes

Mobility

When struck in combat, you gain bonus speed for 10 seconds. This can happen once every 30 seconds.

3

Rune of Lingering

Damage over time or healing over time

Your Core Rune leaves a periodic effect behind. It deals Cosmic damage to enemies or heals allies over 8 seconds. Your Core Rune prefers targets not already affected by Rune of Lingering.

4

Rune of Critical Power

Secondary stat bonus

Your Core Rune effects increase your Critical Strike rating. This effect can overlap.

Rune of Burning Haste

Secondary stat bonus

Your Core Rune effects increase your Haste rating. This effect can overlap.

Rune of Masterful Cunning

Secondary stat bonus

Your Core Rune effects increase your Mastery rating. This effect can overlap.

Rune of the Versatile Warrior

Secondary stat bonus

Your Core Rune effects increase your Versatility rating. This effect can overlap.

5

Rune of Overload

Core Rune boost

Increases the effectiveness of your Core Rune ability by 100%.

Rune of Residual Energy

Lingering Rune boost

Increases the effectiveness of Rune of Lingering by 100%.

Rune of Echoes

Delayed echo effect

Your Core Rune leaves an echoing curse on the target. After 10 seconds, part of the damage and healing done by your Core and Lingering Runes is repeated at 50% effectiveness.

Remember that since you unlock each node weekly, week 3 is when you get the Rune of Lingering.

How to Unlock Omnium Powers

The first quest of the Sunstrider Omnium (by the way, there’s an achievement with the same name) starts with the Magister’s Call and Magister’s Missive at 47.8, 51.6. This quest rewards Omnium Folio. After that, you’ll be doing The Empowered Folio questline, which consists of 5 quests:

Quest

Objectives

Best Omnium Folio Rune Builds in WoW Midnight

The Omnium Folio has 13 rune options, but your best setup depends on the content you play. Since this is still PTR-based, just take it with a grain of salt. You can always quickly swap out the runes when not in combat to test different combos anyway.

Best Omnium Folio Raid Build

For raids, I recommend a steady single-target setup with passive damage, extra survival, and delayed rune value.

Node

Recommended Rune

1st Choice

Rune of Void-Touched Orbs

2nd Choice

Rune of Self-Mending

3rd Node

Rune of Lingering

4th Node

Your best secondary stat rune

Final Node

Rune of Echoes

This setup should work well in longer boss fights. Void-Touched Orbs gives reliable damage, Lingering adds extra value over time, and Echoes repeats part of that output later.

Best Omnium Folio Solo Build

For world content, I recommend a more self-sufficient setup. It gives you damage, healing, and simple defensive value while farming rares, quests, and events.

Node

Recommended Rune

1st Choice

Rune of Unleashed Fire

2nd Choice

Rune of Self-Mending

3rd Node

Rune of Lingering

4th Node

Rune of the Versatile Warrior

Final Node

Rune of Overload

This is the setup I’d use for most solo content. Self-Mending helps when mobs start hitting back, while Overload makes your Core Rune stronger without adding extra timing.

Best Omnium Folio Defensive Build

For tanks or undergeared characters, I recommend leaning into survival first. This build is better when enemies hit hard or damage feels uneven.

Node

Recommended Rune

1st Choice

Rune of Void-Touched Orbs

2nd Choice

Rune of Void-Tainted Shell

3rd Node

Rune of Lingering

4th Node

Rune of the Versatile Warrior

Final Node

Rune of Overload

Void-Tainted Shell is the main reason to use this setup. It adds an absorb after large hits, while Versatility gives a simple mix of damage and defense.

Best Omnium Folio Healer Build

For healers, I recommend focusing on smart healing and repeated rune effects. Your stat rune should still follow your spec’s normal priority.

Node

Recommended Rune

1st Choice

Rune of Void-Touched Orbs

2nd Choice

Rune of Self-Mending

3rd Node

Rune of Lingering

4th Node

Rune of Burning Haste or Rune of Masterful Cunning

Final Node

Rune of Echoes

This setup adds extra healing without changing your rotation much. Echoes should be useful when its delayed repeat lands during continued group damage.
