Welcome to the guide on Deadpool. This crazed experiment is a jack-of-all-trades whose main strategy is to bring chaos to the match. The devs definitely had lots of fun creating him. He has AoE skills, dashes, he can double jump, and he has a style gauge, much like in the DMC series. With what we have at hand, he seems to be the most complex hero Marvel Rivals has released. Is he really that good? We’ll see in this Marvel Rivals Deadpool breakdown.

Deadpool Pros and Cons

Deadpool has three roles, and he can switch between them during the round freely. He’s the first and likely the last character to have such a gameplay style. This brings some obvious hurdles. Here are the Marvel Rivals Deadpool pros and cons:

Pros:

  • Insane Versatility: Pick any role you need during the match.
  • Strong Options: Each of the roles he has, whether it’s Vanguard, Duelist, or Strategist, has very good kits and abilities.
  • Good AoE Damage: Every role has some kind of AoE source of damage.
  • Great Buffs and Debuffs: Deadpool can basically turn off one character for the duration of his ultimate. Most of his skills heal or buff his teammates in one way or another, especially his E.

Cons:

  • Hard to Balance: Deadpool can either be extremely OP or undertuned at launch, since he has a crazy amount of abilities. Buffs and nerfs can hit him significantly.
  • Hard to Learn, Hard to Master: In order to be a great Deadpool, you need to learn all his roles, not just one. His true power is in his versatility and ability to fill the boots of a needed role.
  • Overwhelming for Players: It’s an almost unanimous agreement that Deadpool is overkitted. He has too many abilities, each of which has layers to using it.
  • Mistakes are Easy to Punish: Despite his kit being really strong, one wrong move and you’re a sitting duck and a burden for your team.

Though for some it might seem that Deadpool’s cons outweigh his pros, the majority of them will be mitigated by learning his kit and knowing your matchups. We recommend learning him as soon as you can, as he will likely become an irreplaceable staple of the game. Or take Peni Parker’s place in being banned from every match.

Marvel Rivals Deadpool Overview

The insane trickster comes in with a bang. He can do all three roles: Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist. His strength is in a flexible approach, and he is best utilized as a secondary character in all of these roles, since he doesn't excel at any of them, and I'm a sore loser who can't play and realize his majesty Deadpool's true strength. Uh... What's going on? Anyways, let's return to our guide. Deadpool has 26 skills, which allow him to adapt to any situation, depending on what's currently needed in the match. For instance, he can upgrade his swords to make them deal more damage, and you can upgrade your ability to write gripping articles, dude... Seriously, what's going on with this guide? "Sewwiously whassgoinon." Let the real hero handle this. If you still didn’t get it, it’s me, Deadpoolio, and I’m going to tell you everything you need to know in the checks the notes Marvel Rivals Deadpool overview. Skyсoach asked me to say this:

  1. Vanguard: If you see that your Strategists get dived by the enemy team’s Black Panther, switch to Tankpool and babysit them.
  2. Strategist: If you see that your Vanguards don’t have enough heal to push the payload to the final point, you can switch to Healpool.
  3. Duelist: Yeah, I can do that too. That's actually what I do the most.

Listen up, kiddo. In order to play me well, you gotta be good in the game. Can't be running around if you don't know how to aim, can ya? I’m actually dumbfounded right now. Deadpool, please don’t forget that this is my job, and I gotta work within certain guidelines. You understand me? So I can’t say f@$%? No, you definitely can’t. F@$%! Alright, man, grab the wheel, but remember: I’m watching you. Mind what you say. Okay then. Let’s return to our guide.

Deadpool has a wide array of options that fit certain scenarios.  The biggest advantage when playing this character is understanding the macro game. This doesn’t mean that you don’t have to be good with his skills, as they are definitely not for the poor aimers. Yeah, if you’re a Scarlet Witch main, don’t even think about switching to me. Don’t be mean, Deadpool. But he’s kinda right. His dashes punish you hard. If you miss them once, they go on an 8-second cooldown. To add to his complexity, the character has a style meter that fills up the more hits you land on the enemies. Once it’s full, you can unleash one of his ultis. Totally not stolen from Devil May Cry! Who needs Dante when you have me? I hope we won’t get sued for this. Let’s move on and cover all the abilities Deadpool has.

Marvel Rivals Deadpool Abilities

The developers did me justice with the abilities I got. They know I’m great at everything, and I’m not shy to show my expertise! With me, you can become a one-man army and take the outcome of the match into your own hands. Already thinking that would be enough to outsmart EOMM? Yeah, dream on. If you still didn’t get it, mastering me will take tens of hours. You’re exaggerating, DP. Your Duelist and Strategist abilities are pretty similar to each other. Basically, if anyone can play you as a Duelist, they won’t have too hard a time learning your Strategist gameplay. Yeah, now Duelist instalockers will finally become useful instead of inting. Oh, and don’t abbreviate my name ever again. Now let’s talk about my Marvel Riva… Man, that sounds so stupid. Why do I have to say the name of the game each time? It’s for Google, Deadpool. Nevermind the technicalities, just say the line, please. Alright alright. But I’m going to explain how they work! Let’s look at my Marvel Rivals Deadpool abilities:

Role  Ability  Effect  Upgrade
Vanguard  LMB: Dual Desert Eagles Four shots to the face and say goodbye to 250HP characters! After some shots, I blow up the enemy doing AoE damage.
Vanguard  Q: The Ban Hammer With my guns out, I pick one bot on the enemy team and taunt them, and when they whiff their attacks, they take damage, and I get bonus HP. Oh, and I also get beefier upon activation. Double all the effects, plus the enemy gets continuous damage. Crazy value.
Vanguard  RMB: Magical Unicorn Shield! When I have my DEagles out, I throw my plushie and create a bulletproof bubble. While it’s active, baddies can’t do sh… shoowopdopdoodop. The bubble becomes bigger.
Vanguard  LMB: Kick@$$ Katana Two fast strikes followed by a big X slash. I’m so anime! When I bounce off a baddie’s head using my jump and then hit them with katanas, I do crits.
Vanguard  Q: The Big Test I get fast like Sonic when I activate it, and I heal faster. Me and my friends, including Logan, get bonus HP. Hit the enemies five times with Hazardous Hijinks and Bunny Bounce, and you get even more speed and healing. I also reset my Healing Factor cooldown, meaning I’ll instantly heal. Each attack gives more HP for myself and the team. How funny would it be if you missed the Hazardous Hijinks upon the first use? I can’t swear on the Internet, but your teammates won’t hesitate to call you names!
Vanguard  RMB: Hazardous Hijinks I dash towards the enemy and hit them. I can do that three times! If you’re so wack to miss it, it’ll go into cooldown instantly. I can do it two more times!
Vanguard  E: Deadpool In Your Area I do.. What’s it called? DoT damage? Yeah, and I also cover enemies’ UI elements, so they don’t know what HP and cooldowns they have. I also hit faster during it. Oh, and I taunt them, which lowers the damage they deal to me. Very balanced. Sweet! All of the above, PLUS my buddies get damage reduction.
Vanguard  Space: Bunny Bounce I stomp’em like Goombas! I can also double jump and do damage when stomping on the enemies' heads. During The Big Test, I also reset it each time I make a successful headstomp. No upgrade.
Duelist  LMB: Dual Desert Eagles I do more damage now. Three headshots ftw!

Do I get more booms? No? Alright. One's enough.

Duelist  Q: Skill Issue Wait. Is it just a different name for The Ban Hammer? It is. Same effects, except I don’t get bonus HP? Lame. This upgrade makes them take extra damage for missing their attacks and also makes them vulnerable, which means they heal worse.
Duelist  RMB: Headshot! Not for the faint of heart. I throw my head towards the enemies and do AoE damage. Nasty, what sadistic mind came up with this? Me?! I can now catch my head and throw it again. Talk about vertigo. When I catch it the second time and throw it, it stays on the enemies longer and then explodes!.
Duelist  LMB: Kick@$$ Katana Chop till you drop. I just do more damage now, and it resets faster. Same upgrade as with my gymbro version.
Duelist  Q: Pop Quiz! Same stuff as The Big Test. Listen, do you also think that the Stranger Things 5 finale was underwhelming? No, it has nothing to do with the ability. I just wanted to rant a little. No place for that, Deadpool. Sheesh. What a killjoy. Get ready cause this is Yu-Gi-Oh! levels of explanation. I become faster, heal myself, and get more damage. After I land 5 strikes with Hijinks or Bunny Hop, I get super speed, super healing, and damage boost! But get this, I also get all my cooldowns reset! Am I cool or am I cool?
Duelist  RMB: Hazardous Hijinks Is it heejinks or highjinks? The latter. What? No, thank you, I don’t want coffee. Talk about the ability, Wade. Okay. It’s the same. Happy? But look at that upgrade! I dash infinitely now as long as I hit the enemies? Holy Guacamole!
Duelist  E: Deadpool In Your Area Same effects… Oh, they took away extra attack speed? Come oooon. Yeah, it does the same stuff as the Vanguard upgrade. Okay, I guess.
Duelist  Space: Bunny Hop This time, I can jump as much as I like, as long as I jump away from the walls or the heads. Automatic reset every time I do that. Let’s-a-go! No upgrade.
Strategist  LMB: Dual Desert Eagles I accidentally found out that I can heal my friends when I shoot them? I wonder if it hurts. My boom now heals!
Strategist  Q: Pnwage Round Come on, are we in the 2010s? What kinda name is this? So what this ultimate does is that I taunt an enemy, and everyone around me heals non-stop. If an enemy whiffs a hit, they heal us for an extra amount. Solution? Don’t shoot. Wink wink. Now the enemy's HP drains continuously, and they take even more damage upon missing an attack.
Strategist  RMB: Bouncing Bobblehead It works when my guns are out. It’s a healing Headshot! It can heal and do decent damage now. Will be useful during overtime on the point, eh? It’s the same upgrade as Headshot!, but it heals now.
Strategist  LMB: Kick@$$ Katana Every time I cut a baddy, part of that damage heals my buddies. Same upgrade, booooriiiing. I can hit headshots when jumping on the enemy, and I also get two extra dashes.
Strategist  Q: Final Exam Oh, it’s another healing circle? Am I more like Mantis, or is it closer to Luna’s ultimate? Whatever, they’re old news. If you time it just right, it can go on for 18 seconds. Isn’t that crazy? You need to use Hijinks or Hops 7 times for healing to become even stronger. Everyone, including me, gets bonus HP! About 300 extra HP, to be precise. I also get my Healing Factor reset. Isn’t it cool?
Strategist  RMB: Healing Hijinks I’m even more useful now. Every time I hit the enemy with my katana dash, everyone around me heals. Same upgrade as Vanguard form.
Strategist  E: Deadpool In Your Area Finally something new! I not only deal damage to the enemies, but also heal my allies within the vicinity. Should I ask them to pay me extra now? I heal my allies and get bonus damage per attack.
Strategist  Space: Healing Hop Now I can ragebait Wolverine by jumping on his head and justify it by saying that it heals him. Funniest thing? It really does. It resets every time I jump on a wall or any head, whether it’s a friend or foe. No upgrade, but I don't need it.
All Roles LSHIFT: Slice And Dice / Lock and Load! Lets me switch to my two stabby sticks! No upgrade on that, but I aura farm like crazy. Am I cool with the kids now?
All Roles Upgrade / Selfie I love RPGs so much, I wish Marvel Rivals were an MMO. Partially, that’s why I can level up during the round. I can select any skill and upgrade it, making it much stronger. Oh, about the second variation of this ability. When I kill an enemy, I can take a photo with their ragdoll body. When I’m taking a photo, I’m invincible! Oh, come on. They’ve shown this in the trailer, don’t make a surprised face.
All Roles Yapper  That’s what everyone calls me. If you see me around, you can be sure I’ll start talking. A lot. I won’t shut up. You know why? Cause that’s psychological warfare. Why do you think I make a selfie in front of the opponent’s body? That’s right-o. I can’t yap any more than I already do. Otherwise, I’ll sound like most Eminem-inspired rappers.

Phew, wasn’t easy, I tell ya. Got a little bored by the end. Did I do well? Am I a natural? You actually did well for the first time. Well, where’s my salary? Uhhh, I’ll talk to the managers about that. Alright. So what’s next? Next, we’ll talk about your team-up with little Jeff.

Deadpool Team-Up Ability

Deadpool has just one team-up, which is with Jeff, the Land Shark. He’s what’s known as a Team-Up Anchor, which means that he’s the main beneficiary of it. The Deadpool Team-Up ability is called “Mr. Pool’s Interdimensional Toy Box.” Rad name, huh? Guess who came up with it. It is a cool name, but it’s a mouthful. BLOG20

Jeff can press C and spit out a plushie unicorn that sprays water around it, which heals allies. Apart from this effect, it also works similarly to Deadpool’s E. It tapes the UI elements for enemies, so they don’t know what health they have, and what abilities are on cooldown. The ability’s cooldown is 35 seconds, but if timed well, it can create a huge annoyance in a team fight, adding to the hectic nature of the character’s presence.

How to Play Deadpool in Marvel Rivals

Okay, bud, it’s my turn to explain to people how to handle me. I’m a unique snowflake, as the author has repeated a thousand times by this point to stretch out the length of the article. It’s true, though, so unless you already have an idea how to position yourself in each of the roles and what you have to do, STAY AWAY. Yeah, you’re more likely to ruin your fun and then blame me. And what can I do about it except to be awesome? If you’re a stubborn mule, then (ugh, I feel stupid saying this) here’s a guide about how to play Deadpool in Marvel Rivals:

  • Learn the Duelist or Strategist First: These roles are pretty similar in their skills. They’re almost 1-to-1. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t switch during the actual match, just prioritize one role while learning it.
  • Try Vanguard the Last: I don’t like being bashed in the face repeatedly, even if I can’t really die. In addition to that, I’m more of a secondary tank. If you’re the only tank in the team, better pick someone else.
  • Dive Face First: When I was in the Weapon X project, they gave me a nickname. Warhead. No, it’s true! I didn’t come up with this myself. That’s because I jump in first, ask questions later. But that’s not because I’m stupid. I just know that as soon as I start chaos on the battlefield, I've done my job well enough.
  • Stand Your Ground: My ability kit in Not-an-Overwatch-clone: The Game rewards fast and aggressive gameplay. I should stay in the face of my opponents in the very center of the crowd as long as I can and then flame healer in the chat when I overextend and die.
  • Know the Timings: Pick out the thinner enemies first. If you see that the point turned into a moshpit, jump in and pop your E and spam the RMB and jump button. I’m good in big epic teamfights. That’s why I gotta ask Dr. Strange why he didn’t summon me when they all fought Thanos in Endgame.

If I were to compare myself to these lame superheroes and supervillains, I’d say I’m a little bit similar to… Well, I actually can’t say who I play like. I’m unlike anyone in this game. That’s why you gotta appreciate me, capiche? We couldn’t have said it any better, thank you, Deadpool. Truth is, to play Deadpool well, you have to dedicate a lot of time to it. With a new character leveling system, you can spend hundreds of hours mastering him and learning something new every time. Oh, stop it, you flatterer. You make Mr. Pool blush.

How to Counter Deadpool

Babes, nobody can counter me yet. I’m not out. Once I am, I’ll give you a list of my sworn enemies.

Deadpool Tips

Didn’t you read what I just said? To give you some tips, I gotta appear in Marvel Rivals first. I actually launch on January 17, so see you soon. Are you still here? Alright, here are some Marvel Rivals Deadpool Tips:

  1. Don’t feed Wolverine dog snacks. He won’t appreciate it.

That’s it. Next!

Conclusion

Conclusion: I hope you liked reading this essay as much as I enjoyed writing it. I want to thank my mother and my father for giving me birth. I want to thank the Academy for allowing me to be here. I also want to thank Skycoach for letting me co-write this article. I’m still waiting on my payment. I accept chimichangas! Alright, it’s time to say goodbye. I was never good at it. I’m one-of-a-kind, baby, deuces! XOXO. Welp, that’s the conclusion to our fun, yet hopefully helpful article. Once Deadpool goes live on the servers, we’ll update this guide to better reflect the actual info. As he said, we hope you enjoyed reading this article. See you soon!
