ARC Raiders Best Skills

ARC Raiders is a complex game with many mechanics. To add to it, it also has a skill system, unlike most other extraction games. The skill tree is not too complicated. However, if we take into account that we cannot respec yet, it becomes even more stressful. In this ARC Raiders best skills guide, we’ll go over the skills you need to invest in asap.

Find out the ARC Raiders Best Skills

Skill systems in many games can be either too complex or too simplistic. Luckily, ARC Raiders has a transparent skill tree. The skills you get are easy to understand, as there are no complex conditions involved. Where it gets difficult, though, is in the abundance of them. The idea of making your own build without knowing anything about the game might seem numbing. In addition, the fact that we can’t just respec quickly makes choosing more difficult. Worry not, as in this guide, we’ll go over all the top skills to unlock in ARC Raiders. We will cover useful skills to unlock, what mistakes to avoid, and some good early-game skills.

ARC Raiders Skill Tree Explained

This game has three major trees to put your points into. When picking a skill, prioritize ones that will influence your gameplay momentarily. To help you with that, we will provide a list of highly useful skills worth investing in. So far, the level cap is unknown. Data mining has shown that there is an estimated 75-point cap. However, it’s impossible to say if it’s true as of now. Nevertheless, we will have the ARC Raiders skill tree explained here. The branches are:

  • Conditioning: A skill tree that is less important in the beginning. While it influences your HP and stamina, some of the bonuses will be useful later in the game.
  • Mobility: Everything that lowers the stamina for running, jumping, and climbing. It has useful perks that help you get out of sticky situations.
  • Survival: A very important skill tree, as it contains powerful skills for looting. For instance, the ability to craft items in the raid or the ability to discover more items at once.

It’s hard to ruin your build in ARC Raiders, though there are some skills that are pretty pointless. At worst, you’ll just slow down your progression. If you have already unlocked some skills not shown in our list, don’t worry. This is a marathon (no pun intended), not a sprint. Let’s move on to the early skill progression.

ARC Raiders Best Beginner Skills

In this part of the guide, we will provide an example progression. Based on our testing, these are the best beginner skills in ARC Raiders to maximize your efficiency. Don’t be afraid to stray from the path, as these are more recommendations than a strict guideline. We’ll focus mainly on Mobility and Survival trees, as they’re most important in the beginning stages.

  • Step 1: Spend 1 point on Nimble Climber to get access to two early stamina skills. They are a Marathon Runner and Youthful Lungs. Spend 1 point on Marathon Runner and then put in 5 points into Youthful Lungs. Marathon Runner lowers the stamina consumption, and Youthful Lungs increases your max stamina. From here, we move on to the Survival tree.
  • Step 2: Spend 1 point on Agile Croucher and the same on Revitalizing Squat. Agile Croucher raises your speed while crouching, and Revitalizing Squat increases stamina regen while crouched. We do this to unlock In-Round Crafting. One of the most important skills, as it unlocks the ability to craft items while in a raid.
  • Step 3: Return to the Mobility tree to max out Marathon Runner. This will allow us to take two Major perks. Spend 1 point for Slip and Slide and then on Sturdy Ankles. Slip and Slide makes you slide further and faster, while Sturdy Ankles lets you take less fall damage. You'll have to spend 2 more points on any skill you deem fit in the Mobility tree.
  • Step 4: After that, you can finally unlock Major perks. You should take Calming Stroll first, which lets you recover stamina while walking as if you were standing still. Then, you'll unlock Carry the Momentum. It's a very useful skill to avoid unnecessary fights. After a Sprint Dodge Roll, sprinting does not consume stamina. Bear in mind that it has a cooldown between uses, so you won't be able to spam it.
  • Step 5: Now that you've invested significantly in the Mobility tree, we can return to the Survival tree. You'll max out the Looter's Instincts perk, which lets you reveal the loot faster while searching the containers. Then you invest 1 point in Silent Scavenger, which lowers the noise made while looting. Put 3 points in Agile Croucher and Revitalizing Squat to unlock Major perks. Pick your next skill based on what you need in the moment. It should either be Suffer in Silence or Good as New. Good as New makes you regenerate stamina faster while under the healing effect. Suffer in Silence reduces the noise you make when critically wounded.
  • Step 6: We continue moving up in the Survival tree. We'll max out Broad Shoulders, as it increases the maximum weight limit. Then you should max out Stubborn Mule skill. It makes your stamina regeneration less affected by being overloaded with loot. Our next goal is to unlock Traveling Tinkerer. It unlocks more items to craft while in a raid. Following that, we max out Looter's Luck. It gives an insane buff to your looting. While looting, there's a chance to reveal twice as many items. That means that you can see more items at once while looting other Raiders or containers.
  • Step 7: Here, we're getting close to the Pinnacle passive. We will just need 3 points. We recommend that you put at least 1 point in Survival perks that you haven't unlocked yet. The two Pinnacle passives are the Minesweeper and the Security Breach. First lets you defuse mines and explosives when close by. Don't take it; it is very rare that you'll end up in a situation where you'll need to do that. The second one is much more powerful. It lets you breach Security Lockers, which contain some of the rarest loot in the entire game.

And with that, your initial progression is over. You can now either pursue other Pinnacle passives or distribute your points evenly along three skill trees. Some potential unlocks are Vault Spring, Vaults on Vaults on Vaults. Vault Spring lets you jump at the end of the vault. The second one lets you vault without using stamina. Neither of these really makes it worth investing 36 points in the Mobility tree. If you do that, you'd skip the Conditioning tree altogether.

In Conditioning, the Pinnacle passives are Flyswatter and Back on Your Feet. First Pinnacle lets you kill Wasps and Turrets in a single melee. This is pretty useless, as Wasps rarely get into melee distance. Turrets, on the other hand, can be safely shot from a distance. Getting closer to them would actually mean more risk for you. The second Pinnacle is actually great. It increases your survivability so much more. When you're critically hurt, your health starts to regenerate up until some point. Then again, it requires you to play around it, as getting hurt the second time while restoring your health will stop your regeneration.

This concludes our beginner skills part of the guide. Now we’re going to move on to giving you advice on the best skill points and upgrades in ARC Raiders. We will tell you about useful skills if you want to create your own build in the future.

Best Conditioning Skills

Conditioning skills, as mentioned before, focus mainly on preserving your HP and Stamina. They do not directly buff them, but instead serve as a sort of reactive protection from damage. A couple of examples are skills that restore your HP once you get critically wounded or increase your stamina restoration upon being hit. Here’s a table of the best Conditioning skills in ARC Raiders:

Name Type Description
Used to the Weight Major Makes you less slow when wearing a shield. Useful in mid to late game.
Fight or Flight Minor When you’re hit, it regenerates a fixed amount of stamina. Has a cooldown.
Proficient Pryer Minor Breaking into things takes less time. Very important.
Survivor’s Stamina Major Increases the regeneration rate of stamina when critically hurt.
Unburdened Roll Major Upon shield break, it lets you Dodge Roll for free for a couple of seconds.
Loaded Arms Minor Makes your weapon less heavy in the calculation of your encumbrance.
Back on Your Feet Pinnacle When you’re critically hit, your health regenerates a fixed amount. We’re not sure it’s a skill worth investing 36 points in a Conditioning tree, but it’s better than Flyswatter.

As you can see, the Conditioning tree mostly influences your survivability in battle. The buffs seem insignificant for the most part, but these little details usually make the difference between life and death. Not the worst tree to max out. Next, we’re moving on to the Mobility tree.

Best Mobility Skills

Mobility is very important in ARC Raiders, since most of what you do in the game is move around. Moving faster across the vast open spaces will save your life more than once. It’s a good tree to invest in until you hit Major perks. Then it’s diminishing returns. We do not recommend getting the Pinnacle passives of this tree. These are the best Mobility skills in ARC Raiders:

Name Type Description
Nimble Climber Major Makes you climb and vault faster. You’ll thank this skill more than once.
Marathon Runner Minor Makes you spend less stamina on actions that require it. Easily top 5 skills in the game.
Sturdy Ankles Minor You take less damage when dropping from a non-lethal height. Kinda good, but don’t max it out.
Calming Stroll Major While walking, your stamina regenerates as if you were standing still. Very good skill, as it lets you run more.
Carry the Momentum Major After a Sprint Dodge Roll, sprinting doesn’t consume stamina for a short period of time. Super important.
Effortless Roll Minor Dodge Roll costs less stamina, meaning you can spam dodge like it’s Dark Souls.
Heroic Leap Minor Your Dodge Roll covers more distance with this skill. Pretty good.

These are all the skills that are really worth investing in. Other skills are situational or are just means to get to the better ones. As already mentioned, do not max out this tree. After two Major skills in the middle, only two skills are worth spending points on. Moving on to probably the most important skill tree - Survival.

Best Survival Skills

The safest tree to spend your skill points on. At any point in the game, skills here are extremely useful. Probably the only tree worth maxing out for one Pinnacle passive that is always useful, especially in the beginning. In ARC Raiders, these are the best Survival skills:

Name Type Description
Agile Croucher Major A nice skill to have. Faster movement while being crouched makes less sound.
Looter’s Instincts Minor Faster revealing time for loot is amazing. The less time you spend searching through the containers, the more aware you are of your surroundings.
Revitalizing Squat Minor Lets you recover stamina faster while crouched. Simple, but effective.
In-Round Crafting Minor One of the most important perks. Does what it says, lets you craft things while topside.
Good as New Major Recovering stamina as well as HP while under healing effects? Best way to avoid trouble. Good luck catching you.
Traveling Tinkerer Minor Next step for In-Round Crafting. Lets you craft even more things.
Broad Shoulders Minor They should’ve made it a Major skill for how important it is. It lets you carry more loot before you get overencumbered.
Stubborn Mule Minor Like to loot up to your neck before extracting? Yeah, we too. This skill will let you spend less stamina while overencumbered.
Looter’s Luck Minor The skill lets you reveal twice as many items while searching the container or another Raider. As you know, the faster you loot, the better.
Security Breach Pinnacle The Pinnacle skill lets you breach Security lockers. Seems very simple, but the thing is, they contain some of the best loot. It’s always useful, especially when using the keys, since most such lockers are inside locked rooms.

It was really hard not to include even more skills here. Honestly, it’s kind of unfair to other skill trees how much use this one brings. Even the less useful skills still bring decent bonuses. That concludes the listing of the best skills to unlock in the game. Now, let’s talk about some tips on how to build your character better. BLOG20

ARC Raiders Character Build Tips

While you can’t really ruin your build here, it’s still good to know what mistakes to avoid. Unlocking the wrong skills can make you spend more time on things you shouldn’t have worried about in the first place. These character build tips will help you enjoy ARC Raiders much better.

  • Speedrun the Tree: If you want to gain a certain skill, invest just one point in skills prior to this one. You can always return to the previous ones later.
  • Don’t Max Out Fast: Contrary to other popular games, investing all the points in just one tree in ARC Raiders isn’t worth it. Most Pinnacle skills are pretty useless or situational. Min-maxing isn’t a priority.
  • Distribute Points Evenly: When unlocking skills, think beforehand about how they can be useful to you now. Plan your next raids after getting each point.
  • Play to Your Strengths: If you’ve invested in the Conditioning tree first, prioritize fighting enemies while you can. For the Mobility tree, avoid fights. With the Survival tree, loot, and then extract.
  • Don’t be Afraid to Experiment: While the game is still fresh, the meta doesn’t exist yet. It’s the best time to test the skills you purchased. Observe how they behave in the game. Unfortunately, we don’t have specific numbers on how much you improve your character's stamina recovery or such.
  • Think About Your Playstyle: Though the skills do not directly influence your damage output, they can indirectly affect it. For instance, the Mobility tree is better with SMGs, Pistols, and Shotguns. The Conditioning tree is better for long-distance fights.
  • Use Appropriate Items: Certain items in the game can buff your skills even further. If you’re raiding in a high-risk zone, be sure to use them.

These are all the tips we could come up with. Surely, it’s impossible to cover all of them. We’re sure you can find ways to maximize the usefulness of skills we haven’t thought of yet. Once we find some really powerful ways to optimize your skills, we’ll share them here.

Conclusion

The skill trees in ARC Raiders are one of the core features of the game. Unlike with other games of the genre, in ARC Raiders your character can get better. We hope the build we gave you will help you on your adventure in the land of Speranza. Understand the skills, upgrade smart, and you will find yourself winning a lot more. See you topside, Raider, and stay tuned for more guides!
