Best Hero Decks in Clash Royale

Today, I'll cover a couple of popular meta decks. I'll break down the strategy behind them, how to play them, and their pros and cons. With recent changes, you can't have 2 Evos and 2 Heros in your deck anymore. Instead, you can now have 1 Evo, 1 Hero, and 1 Flex slot for Hero, Evo, or Champion card. This completely changes the game, for better or worse. Although I'd say it's for better.

Heroes are pretty powerful cards. Not every Hero is an auto-win button, though. Hero Magic Archer can be pretty weak if you don’t know how to use him. Let’s briefly talk about each of the heroes:

  1. Hero Giant: 5 Elixir. Probably the weakest Hero right now. His 2 Elixir ability allows him to toss one troop with the highest HP into the opposing lane. While Hero Giant is a good wincon, it's an extremely weak Hero card, and it's hard to recommend opening your slot for it, especially with current changes.
  2. Hero Mini P.E.K.K.A.: 4 Elixir. His ability costs 1 Elixir and allows them to build a gauge. The gauge’s level grows over time and, upon the ability’s activation, grants extra levels and heals P.E.K.K.A. Unfortunately, this ability isn't as strong as it may sound, leaving Hero Mini Pekka in a weird place.
  3. Hero Musketeer: 4 Elixir. The most complex hero to use, as her ability costs a whopping 3 Elixir. Upon activation, she summons a Trusty Turret, appearing three tiles forward. Ability’s cost, combined with strategic complexity, makes Hero Musketeer a really difficult card to play. At the same time, she’s really strong if played well.
  4. Hero Knight: 3 Elixir. Using this card automatically makes a good Clash Royale Hero deck. It has one of the best abilities for a tank. It costs 2 Elixir and, upon activation, taunts all units in a seven-tile range. He also gains a shield. The ability lasts for 5 seconds, unless the shield is destroyed sooner. It’s the ability that’s always useful.
  5. Hero Ice Golem: 2 Elixir. If Ice Golem used to be amazing before, now he's just outstanding. A great counter to Rush and Beatdown decks. Ice Golem's ability is just 2 Elixir. It allows him to release a blizzard that slows and then freezes the enemies. An absolute must-play if you suffer from someone like Pekka.
  6. Hero Wizard: 5 Elixir. In my opinion, the strongest Hero card rn. His ability is just 1 Elixir, and it makes me mad, honestly. It gives him flying and the ability to release fire tornadoes with a huge AoE effect that draws all troops to the center. Think about that. For ONE Elixir. I know he's 5 Elixir base, but come on! I hate to say it, but it's the card you want to invest in, cause I don't think the nerfs will kill it due to the fact that his strength is in the kit and not the raw stats.
  7. Hero Goblins: 2 Elixir. Perhaps the most broken card in Clash Royale rn. It's always a positive Elixir trade with them. It's due to the fact that their 1 Elixir ability lets the last Goblin alive drop a banner that, after some time, respawns all three goblins again. Even if you kill them, you're forced to react one more time, since they do big damage to towers, and this damage quickly piles up.
  8. Hero Mega Minion: 3 Elixir. The backlash caused by Goblins made the devs release a counter card. Mega Minion is your ultimate answer to Goblins, Barb Barrels, and Ice Golems. It's also probably one of the few cards that counters Hero Wizard. Its ability is 2 Elixir, and it makes it teleport to the lowest HP enemy, dealing damage upon arrival. It's great against all sorts of decks, and the fact that Mega Minion is flying makes it that much better.
  9. Hero Barbarian Barrel: 2 Elixir. This card is kind of broken tbh. It doesn't do anything crazy per se, but it gives you a positive Elixir trade 90% of the time. His ability costs 1 Elixir and makes him roll the second time. It makes him an insane counterpusher, especially against decks that abuse flooding you with lots of smaller troops. Even if your opponent doesn't spam their troops, this card is already doing its job because it keeps your opponent respectful of your Barb Barrel.
  10. Hero Magic Archer: 4 Elixir. I guess the game design tendency in Clash Royale rn is that if everyone's broken, nobody is. What's the main weakness of a Magic Archer? He's slow. What if we remove this issue and make him leave a decoy with a ton of HP, plus still let him damage everything in the path? For just 1 Elixir, too. This card allows you to dish out so much Elixir from your opponent. Imagine that they drop a Fireball, and you just dodge out of its way. Now they're 3 Elixir behind you and have no counter for the next 3 cards. That's just nuts. The Hero Magic Archer are some of the best Clash Royale Hero decks right now.

All of the following deck builds are taken from RoyaleAPI, and you can be sure that they're meta and actual. Several factors went into choosing the deck. Mainly, their win % and usage rate. I'm not picking a deck that has an 86% WR and only 100 games played. If you're unsure how to understand if the deck is good, I'd say anything with WR above 52% is already good. Decks with 56% WR and a big usage are OP and broken. If you have the cards, I'd suggest using them this season, but if you don't, don't try to pursue them as they will be nerfed in the next one. Now knowing how the list of decks works, let’s move on to the best Hero Decks in Clash Royale.

HeroGiant EvoMusk Bowler NW

With a 53% WR and 8500 games played, you can be sure this deck is strong. The core loop is defending from the opponent troops and then dropping your HG at the bridge. You wanna play it reactively rather than proactively. You basically wait for the opponent to show all their cards to figure out what counters your HG and Night Witch.

  • Evolved Musketeer
  • Hero Giant
  • Evo Giant Snowball
  • Tombstone
  • Night Witch
  • Bowler
  • Guards
  • Arrows

Your game plan is checking your opponent's counters and then, once you get to Double Elixir, spawning your Giant after your troops defend, and trying to have at least a few of them survive so that they create a big push wave. That's where you start pressing the opponent with Night Witch, Musketeer, and Bowler in the backline. Do that after a successful defense and the win is in your pocket. Keep the spells for the times when your troops can't handle the pressure.

Golem HeroMiniPekka EvoBBD EvoValk

This deck is also focused on defense in the first half and a follow-up beatdown in the second. You can be really defensive with it thanks to the Evo Baby Dragon and Evo Valkyrie, who are one of the strongest defenders in the game. You support your characters with Battle Healers and occasionally drop your Zappies to make your opponent react.

  • Evo Baby Dragon
  • Hero Mini P.E.K.K.A
  • Evo Valkyrie
  • Golem
  • Battle Healer
  • Vines
  • Zappies
  • Elixir Collector

As this is an extremely Elixir-hungry deck, try placing Elixir Collector when you have an opening once your opponent overcommits or you know they don't have the cards to punish you now. The earlier you start snowballing, the better. If your opponent doesn't punish your Elixir Collector, you can drop Golem even earlier and force your opponent to spend their Elixir. Send your Hero Mini PEKKA as a support to quickly get rid of the enemies, or split your push into two lanes. Once the double Elixir starts, your opponent is as good as dead, so just hold on til then. With 54% WR and 13000 games played, this deck is quite safe to invest in.

Hog HeroMusk 2.6 Cycle

Hero Musketeer is one of the weakest Hero cards, since it requires huge Elixir investments and punishes you hard for misusing her ability. However, in the right deck, like this one, Hero Musk absolutely rocks. It's more or less a traditional Hog Cycle, so you play it just as such. Pressure, pressure, and yet again, pressure. You control the arena with Skellies to draw the unwanted attention, Ice Spirit to slow the push, and the Cannon and Musketeer to defend.

  • Evolved Cannon
  • Hero Musketeer
  • Hog Rider
  • Fireball
  • Ice Golem
  • Skeletons
  • Ice Spirit
  • The Log

Your game plan is forcing the opponent to make mistakes and outcycling them. Before the Double Elixir, you want to force responses from them, not commit to big pushes. After Double Elixir, you start applying much more pressure, but beware, defending with this deck is a bit hard, even though you have great spells like The Log and Fireball. Your overall goal is to chip the player against you enough to finish them off in one sweep in the second half.

X-Bow HeroKnight 3.0 Cycle

Almost a classic. X-Bow is traditionally difficult to play, due to the difficulty of utilizing X-Bow and keeping it protected, but with Hero Knight, it becomes less difficult, but it's still a deck you need to learn how to play. If you do, you'll find yourself with a whopping 58% WR in the current meta. Yes, it's that good. The whole last year, X-Bow was in the dumpster, but with this patch, it becomes better. Though Hero Knight had been nerfed, I wouldn't call it huge, as it still does its job right.

  • Evolved Archers
  • Hero Knight
  • Evolved Tesla
  • X-Bow
  • Fireball
  • Skeletons
  • Electro Spirit
  • The Log

X-Bow is all about picking the right moment to attack, and it gives you this tidal wave gameplay, where your push converts into defense rather quickly and then transfers to push again. That's basically the difficulty curve, as X-Bow is very easily destroyed, you have to constantly let your opponent consider their options. X-Bow is good at baiting spells, but if you misuse your cards in a deck, you can say goodbye to one of your towers immediately. Before Double Elixir, you play patiently. Focus on defenses with the help of Evo Tesla and Archers. Hero Knight is to be kept for stronger pushes and in the second half of the game, to convert the defense into an attack. Learning this deck is one of the hardest tasks a Clash Royale player might do, but it's good, and barely anyone knows how to play it due to its low popularity, especially in the low ladder. In Double Elixir, the pressure eases off a bit, since you can cycle your cards much faster. Some matchups actually allow you to finish the game even before the Double Elixir, so once again, it's a really powerful deck. It just takes time to master.

HeroIG EvoMusk 2.9 Cycle

Hero Golem is super strong. So strong, in fact, that choosing what deck to show here was a tough task. My choice fell on the Cycle deck that uses the Bomb Tower, Barb Barrel, and Evo Skellies to create an impenetrable defense with the potential of turning defense into a painful push. Your opponent can't pass through you, and with Hero Ice Golem, this task is even harder now. Here's how to build this easy and strong Clash Royale deck.

  • Evolved Musketeer
  • Hero Ice Golem
  • Evolved Skeletons
  • Balloon
  • Miner
  • Barbarian Barrel
  • Giant Snowball
  • Bomb Tower

I wouldn't call this deck braindead, but it's definitely on the easier side. This deck prioritizes defense efficiency in attempts to waste as little Elixir on defense as possible to then launch a full-on attack using Balloon when you know your opponent doesn't have anything to counter it with. You can use Hero Golem both as a defensive and an offensive tool thanks to its ability to freeze enemies, which includes towers. Timing it right with your Ballon makes for devastating damage. Basically, defend, chip, annoy your opponent with Miner, press with Balloon and Golem combo. A really easy and fun deck that lets you climb fast, since Ballon is very annoying to destroy.

GS DP HeroWiz MW

This deck will make your opponent cry real tears. It's very offensive and aggressive, but also has really annoying push stops with Vines and Barb Barrel. This is definitely an offense-heavy deck, and you should play it as such, but you should never overcommit, as your defenses are pretty poor. Or at least they were, since with the introduction of Hero Wizard, you can defend and attack at the same time. The Hero Wizard makes this deck so much worse for your opponent to play against, as he's super broken. Unlike some other Hero cards that feel like they excel at a particular task, Hero Wizard is great both in defense and offense.

  • Evolved Battle Ram
  • Hero Wizard
  • Evolved Royal Ghost
  • Giant Skeleton
  • Dark Prince
  • Mother Witch
  • Vines
  • Barbarian Barrel

In its core, this deck is a bridge spam. Well, spam is a big word since Avg Elixir here is 3.9, but you do it efficiently. Before Double Elixir, you launch Giant Skeleton and Royal Ghost to chip the towers, occasionally drop a Dark Prince to protect your push. When defending, you want to launch Hero Wiz to start doing loads of damage and then transfer it into a counterpush with Vines and Mother Witch in the backline. This deck has many ways you can assault the towers and thus, the best way to play it is to consider your options, not mindlessly putting out your cards on the arena. From my experience, this is the best Hero deck in Clash Royale right now.

HeroGobs EvoGhost Bait

An absolute terror last season, this season, this deck still stands strong, if not stronger. Hero Goblins are annoying to deal with, as even if you destroy them, they'll revive and still force you to respond. Otherwise, they'll do quite a lot of damage to your tower. It's always a positive trade for a player who launches them.  As every Bait deck ever, this one focuses on making your opponent answer the wrong target and making them pay for launching the wrong card into the cycle. This deck is more of a spellbait, as it has lots of small annoying mobs that deal damage over time rather than a big beatdown.

  • Evo Skeleton Barrel
  • Hero Goblins
  • Evo Royal Ghost
  • Suspicious Bush
  • Rocket
  • Dart Goblin
  • Rascals
  • The Log

This specific deck usually relies on dealing damage with Gobs, Skelly Barrel, or Evo RG. All of them deal fantastic damage to the towers and are cheap enough to constantly pressure your opponent. For defenses, it's pretty weak. You can defend with RG and the Dart Goblin in the backline or clearing the wave with The Log, but other than that, you're pretty limited. The scales are tipped pretty heavily here, but with such an oppressive deck, you don't really need to defend. Start with RG, let him dish out some response, send the Gobs to force out some spell, and at least one of them should reach the tower. Just remember not to stack all your cards in one place cause you might end up in a situation where all of your troops are deleted by a Fireball.

LavaLoon Evo BBD Evo Valk

This deck is a pretty classic LavaLoon deck, but with really strong cards that support it. Not only does this deck have a great synergy, but it also has really strong individual units that can handle lots of problems on their own. Hero Mega Minion is a key defender/offender in this deck, as he counters such annoying cards of the season as Hero Wiz and Hero Magic Archer. The rest of the deck plays identically to how you'd play it usually. Here are the cards for the best meta deck in Clash Royale to counter other meta decks.

  • Evo Baby Dragon
  • Hero Mega Minion
  • Evo Valkyrie
  • Lava Hound
  • Balloon
  • Fireball
  • Vines
  • Tombstone

You're forcing out the spells and troops from your opponent with Tombstone and resetting the arena with Fireball when needed. Lava Hound and Balloon are your main wincons and you set them up with any of the three strongest cards in the deck: Evo Baby Drake, Hero Mega Minion, and Evo Valkyrie. This deck has a lot of space control, thanks to Baby Dragon and Valkyrie, and Mega Minion is here clear big waves of minions and chase some of the faster troops. You win by building a big wave of strong troops when your opponent wastes their Elixir. Maybe it's just me, but this deck doesn't feel as exciting to play. I mean, yeah, it does its job perfectly, but it's like: I'm not letting you play, and that's how I win.

EvoRG FishBoy Hunter 3.0 Cycle

One of my all-time favorite decks gets an upgrade with Hero Barbarian Barrel. A Classic Royal Giant and Ghost combination that does tons of huge damage to the tower. It's a combination of beatdown and control deck. Kind of reminiscent of the previous one in its gameplay, but it has more finesse. Countering your opponent's big unit by just sending Skeletons to the other lane once their troop is close enough is one of my favorite things. One way this deck could be easily outplayed is by using cards that spawn troop crowds, like Skeleton Army or something akin to it. With Hero Barbarian Barrel, that's not the case anymore.

  • Evo Royal Giant
  • Hero Barbarian Barrel
  • Evo Royal Ghost
  • Hunter
  • Fisherman
  • Fireball
  • Skeletons
  • Electro Spirit

Having both Barb Barrell and Electro Spirit allows you to control crowds and even out the mistakes you made, thinking your opponent will spawn a mob. Fisherman and Hunter combo deletes strong ranged units, such as Hero Magic Archer. Technically, it can outcounter you if the opponent expects a Fisherman's hook, but that's when mind games come into play. Skeletons win you some time for when Elixir comes up. This deck requires some time to learn properly, but your game plan is to just control your opponent's push attempts in the first half and then beat them down with Giant and Ghost. This deck has a 57% WR. It's a really strong Clash Royale deck, but there's one that's much stronger.

EvoRHogs GobHut EvoGhost 3.3 Cycle

Well, this deck is just broken. How broken, you may ask? It has a 60% winrate with more than 4200 games played in a new patch. One of the most annoying decks of the last year, with Evo Flying Hogs return, this time with GobHut. It's built around a constant chip with Royal Hogs by spawning them in the middle of the row and letting your opponent waste their Elixir trying to defend both towers and inevitably failing. Hero Magic Archer fits like a glove as a sort of support attack unit. It's not a thing, but in this case, it helps your Royal Hogs stay healthy for a long time, and while your opponent's troops are on their piggy faces, your Magic Archer shoots them for free cause his range is that crazy.

  • Evo Royal Hogs
  • Hero Magic Archer
  • Evo Royal Ghost
  • Lightning
  • Goblin Hut
  • Skeletons
  • Electro Spirit
  • Barbarian Barrel

Goblin Hut is a new addition to this deck, at least I don't really remember it being utilised in it before. It's here to distract your opponent from the Magic Archer for as long as possible. The rest of the kit is here to clear the mob troops so that they don't kill your Hogs too fast. It's a fairly straightforward control + split push deck, so it won't take a long time to master it. It's the best Hero deck in Clash Royale in 2026. If you have all the needed cards, it's time to let them get you high on the ladder.
