D2 Pantheon 2.0 Morgeth Strategy

Pantheon 2.0 is a returning activity, and as of 9.7.0, it turns into a permanent mode. Along with other returning bosses like Argos, Gahlran, Callus, Warpriest, Consecrated Mind, and Insurrection Prime, we also get Morgeth. However, this isn’t just a Morgeth with a fatter health bar. This version combines the original boss fight with Queen’s Walk from Last Wish. You still collect Taken Strength as in a normal fight, but now every trap sends two players into Riven’s Heart, where they have to solve a symbol puzzle before the team can move toward the DPS phase.
The arena layout is easy to understand. Morgeth stands at the back, near the staircase. Taken Strength spawns around the room. The first one appears in front of the boss, and picking it up starts the fight. After that, mobs spawn, more Taken Strength appears, and the fireteam starts the rotation.
Morgeth Pantheon Team Roles
Before starting, split into two teams of three. No need for twelve role names for this fight, but everyone should know what they are supposed to do.

Final Stand Players |
Grab Taken Strength, never take more than two stacks |
The most important thing here is not taking a third Taken Strength. Two stacks are the intended amount, but three stacks kill you and drop your Strength. Don’t do that if you don’t want to ruin your teammates’ night. That’s just throwing 101.
Taken Strength Explanation
Taken Strength is the main resource in this fight. You pick it up by running through the floating Taken orb. Each player can hold a maximum of two stacks. If you grab a third, you die and drop everything. So, no more than two. That’s the rule. It doesn’t outright wipe the squad, but it usually leads to one. The player who starts the encounter should also grab the second Taken Strength. This helps force Morgeth to trap that player first, which makes the damage window easier to predict. Another player should pick up the other Strength that spawns nearby. It’s important that you take the Taken Strength as soon as the orbs appear. Morgeth’s strength meter keeps rising during the fight, and if it reaches 100%, the team wipes.
Freeing Trapped Players
When Morgeth raises his hand, he traps a player who has x2 Taken Strength. The trapped player cannot move. If nobody frees them in time, they die. To free them, kill an Eye of Riven and pick up the Taken Essence it drops. The player holding Taken Essence runs to the trapped player and presses the grenade button. This frees the trapped player and transfers their Taken Strength to the person who tagged them. After that, both players are teleported into Riven’s Heart. The player picking up Taken Essence should have zero Taken Strength before doing this. If they already have stacks, they can push themselves over the limit after freeing the trapped player. As always, observe the stacks, and everything will be hunky-dory.
Riven’s Heart Symbol Puzzle Explained

Inside Riven’s Heart, Taken Strengths appear with Last Wish symbols above them. Only the player who carried Taken Essence can see those symbols. The freed player cannot. They still need to pick up two safe Taken Strengths, which means the Essence holder has to guide them.
Back in the main room, the outside team sees symbols behind Morgeth. These are the symbols that should not be picked up inside Riven’s Heart. Outside players call them out. The Essence holder inside listens, finds Taken Strengths with different symbols, and tells the freed player which ones to grab. That’s the whole puzzle in a nutshell. Outside calls symbols to avoid. Inside avoids them.
The second pair does the same thing, but this time there are more symbols to avoid. At that point, the wall behind Morgeth will show four symbols. The inside player with Taken Essence guides their teammate toward two Taken Strengths that are not part of the outside callouts.
There are no community-accepted ways to call these symbols. Use whatever your team understands. “Dragon breathing left,” “cloud snake,” “circle fish,” or any other cursed description works as long as nobody grabs the wrong Strength. For reference, you can see the symbols at the beginning of this section and the offered names for them. Share this image with your fireteam so that you are all on the same page when it hits the fan.

Morgeth Mechanic Order
To sum up everything I explained so far, here’s the order your team should follow:
- Pick up the first Taken Strength to start the encounter
- Let the starter grab a second Taken Strength
- Kill an Eye of Riven and have one player hold Taken Essence
- Free the trapped x2 Strength player with the grenade button
- Teleport into Riven’s Heart and avoid the symbols called from outside
- Repeat until all six players are inside the Heart
- Grab the final Taken Strength near Morgeth to start DPS
That’s the encounter before damage. It sounds like a lot, but most of it is just repeating the same job with different pairs.
DPS Phase
When the last two players enter Riven’s Heart, Morgeth appears there too. A final Taken Strength spawns near him. The player who does not already have x2 Taken Strength should grab it. This starts the DPS phase. That’s where you group up and shoot Morgeth’s glowing weak spots. His strength keeps rising during damage. If he reaches 100%, everyone dies. During this phase, an Eye of Riven spawns. One player should kill it and grab its Taken Essence, and then use the Super attack on Morgeth before he reaches 100% strength. I recommend doing it around 80-90%. You can greed for more damage, but that’s the fastest way to turn a successful run into a failed one. Using Taken Essence ends damage and sends the team back to the normal arena. If Morgeth still has too much health, repeat the full process. Generally, one DPS phase is enough to kill Morgeth, but that’s not always the case. When Last Wish was an actual raid, my fireteam and I just Hail Mary’d him with everything we had, including supers, but in this version of his encounter, this won’t fly. That’s why there’s a following section.
Morgeth Final Stand
When Morgeth reaches his last health segment, everyone gets teleported away, and a portal opens. Jump through it and make your way across the Queen’s Walk platforming section back to the boss. At the end, several Taken Strengths spawn around Morgeth. Your team must grab all of them before he becomes vulnerable. The two-stack rule still applies, so spread out. The first players who reach the end should run to the farthest Taken Strengths, while slower players take the closer ones. Once every Taken Strength is picked up, damage starts again. Save heavy ammo and burst Supers for this part. As always, Morgeth’s strength keeps rising, and if you don’t kill him before it reaches 100%, that’s a wipe. Finish him here, and that’s the end of the encounter.
F.A.Q
What is different about Morgeth in Destiny 2 Pantheon 2.0?
