A new Destiny 2 expansion is created in collaboration with the Star Wars franchise. To our knowledge, it doesn’t directly tie in with the universe. Instead, it takes heavy inspiration from it and adopts some cool features. This way, we already have a Lightsaber weapon, an X-Wing Ship, and the latest addition to the roster - Heirloom crossbow. It’s a crossbow inspired by Chewbacca’s bolt thrower. It’s a really powerful exotic weapon, and today we will tell you how to unlock Heirloom and why you need it.
To get the Heirloom, you’ll need to complete a new dungeon, Equilibrium. It’s a post-campaign activity, so to get it fast, try our Renegades Campaign boost. Our Pros will beat the campaign for you so you can grind Equilibrium as soon as it goes live.

Destiny 2 Heirloom Guide

Heirloom is a dungeon exotic. That means that if you want to get it, you’ll have to complete Equilibrium. There’s still no clear information on how to get Heirloom. It’s unknown whether it’s a 100% drop or if you need to grind. If the latter is the case, we recommend running Equilibrium in Contest Mode. Greater difficulty usually means a higher chance of obtaining the reward. Since Equilibrium is a dungeon, it makes it incredibly hard to get the Heirloom solo. We would even say it’s almost impossible, so don’t try it. As soon as there’s information on how to get the crossbow, we will update this article. For now, let’s discuss what’s known about the exotic in the Destiny 2 Heirloom guide.
Heirloom Perks & Stats
Heirloom is an exotic crossbow that uses special ammo. An exotic trait of this weapon is called Bolt Thrower. It makes the weapon fire high-powered explosive bolts. It stuns Unstoppable champions almost instantly. Secondary exotic perk is Big Game Hunter. It gives the weapon a unique charge mechanic. The longer you charge it, the more damage it causes. Heirloom doesn’t use ammunition in a usual way. Instead, it uses the heat system. The weapon starts overheating when you shoot the bolts. One uncharged shot heats the weapon to approximately 12%. A fully charged shot overheats the weapon to 52%. This makes the use of the firearm a balancing game. We recommend using uncharged bolts against common enemies and using the charge mechanic against bosses. Don’t worry, though, because if the weapon overheats, you can vent it. Venting basically works as a reload. Heirloom also cools down when not being used. It’s an excellent weapon for PvE, but its use in PvP seems questionable. Let’s take a look at the perks that Heirloom has:
- Bolt Thrower: An exotic perk that makes the weapon shoot explosive bolts. It also stuns Unstoppable Champions.
- Big Game Hunter: A secondary exotic perk. It lets the weapon fire charged shots that deal more damage.
- Ultralight Rail: Greatly increases handling speed and decreases reload speed.
- Light Heatsink: Lightweight, agile battery. Increases handling and vent speed.
- Short Action Stock: This weapon is especially easy to grip.
This weapon also has a Catalyst. It’s unclear how to get it, but we already know what it can do. The catalyst makes direct hits with charged shots scorch the target. While scorched, the enemy takes damage over time. Scorched enemies also take more damage from this weapon. The scorching effect shouldn’t necessarily be applied by the Heirloom. The DoT increases with the charge. And here are the weapon’s stats:
- Impact: 44
- Velocity: 33
- Persistence: 3
- Handling: 90
- Reload Speed: 37
- Aim Assistance: 27
- Zoom: 18
- Airborne Effectiveness: 5
- Ammo Generation: 45
This weapon looks really strong and is a perfect secondary to run in Nightfall Strikes. Combine it with a Solar subclass and watch the enemies drop. BLOG20
Conclusion
Heirloom is another Exotic that people will use regularly. It seems like an all-around weapon, capable of doing just about anything. Run it in strikes, raids, dungeons, or seasonal activities. Return after the Equilibrium drops to know how to get the Heirloom exotic! Stay tuned until then, more guides on Destiny 2 to come.
