Midnight Alchemy Leveling Guide Quick Summary:
- The best yet quite expensive way to get to Alchemy level 100 is to spam craft Light’s Potential after you hit level 30.
- Alchemy leveling in Midnight is much easier now because the old RNG recipe discovery is gone.
- Don’t skip recycling and use all the leftovers to turn them into Stabilized Derivate to use it later in recipe unlocking and progressing through Alchemy in general.
It doesn’t matter what prof you’re going to pick, as you’ll need a quick bunch of WoW Gold to purchase all the materials needed anyway. The same can be said about getting early in the expansion or the fresh season. We guarantee the best market price and the fastest delivery to any server and region you’re playing on.
What Changed For Alchemy Leveling in Midnight
Alchemy leveling in Midnight has finally become more “checklist” than “casino.” I remember what torture it was back in DF and TWW to rely on the experimentation system. Many of you blew yourselves up hundreds of times just to unlock the recipe you wanted. No more of this, finally. Here’s what's new in Alchemy in WoW Midnight, changing the process of leveling specifically:
- Only two quality ranks for consumables and reagents: That’s a great change since you know that the best rank of quality achievable is now only one step away. It makes concentration-based crafting much more relevant than it used to be in the previous expansion. This also shifts the early economy hard.
- Artisan Alchemist's Moxie is now profession-specific: Make sure you gather these early on. You’ll need it for recipes and unlocks tied to Alchemy. Don’t focus on it specifically, as you’ll get most of it naturally by just progressing through the prof.
As I’ve already said, the biggest and most impactful change is the removal of RNG. You guys can’t even imagine how happy I am. Until this moment, I never treated Alchemy as a whole profession because you never knew what you were going to get.
Fastest Way to Level Alchemy in Midnight

The fastest way to level Alchemy in Midnight is to keep crafting Light’s Potential after you hit level 30 with trainer crafts and first-craft bonuses. This sounds simple, but trust me, it’s very efficient, as you’ll be getting one skill point all the way up to level 80. From 80 to 90, it’ll turn yellow. And from 90 to 100, it’ll become green.
I’ve created this leveling plan for you to take a quick look at:
|
Skill Range |
Primary Goal |
What You Do |
|
1-30 |
Build skill and get to know the basics of the profession |
Trainer crafts, first-crafts, start recycling |
|
30-80 |
Fast guaranteed skill-ups all the way to 80 |
Craft Light’s Potential in bulk |
|
80-100 |
Finish through slow colors |
Keep crafting Light’s Potential, optionally mix in 2-skill crafts |
I will also share a list of Light’s Potential materials needed to craft it as a part of the Midnight Alchemy overview because leveling is not the only thing I’m going to talk about in this guide.
- x1 Mote of Light
- x8 Tranquility Bloom
- x3 Azeroot
- x3 Argentleaf
- x5 Sunglass Vial
If this already looks overwhelming to you, I’ve got a simpler solution here. At Skycoach, you can order an Alchemy 1-100 Boost and just chill until our PROs do this for you.
Alchemy Leveling 1-30
Your Alchemy 1-100 journey in WoW Midnight starts with hitting around 30 with trainer crafts and first-craft bonuses. Your goal here is to unlock requirements and stock up on materials to use later. Your cheap crafts will start turning yellow or green, and you’ll see that it’s time to move further. By this time, you’ll have set up the loop that makes the rest of the leveling much more painless.
Alchemy Leveling 1-100
I’ve tried several approaches, but found nothing better than spamming Light’s Potential. Personally, I find this to be the best way to level Alchemy in WoW now, since it pushes you to 80 very fast. After that, things get a bit slower, but hitting level 80 with one recipe is already incredible.
You can try to prove me wrong or go for multiple-recipe combinations here, but why bother? I don’t get it. If this single recipe does so much work, I would rather stick to it all the way to level 100. But the only downside my friends and I have to deal with is how expensive this method is. Yet in terms of the earned XP, it’s the best one, no doubts here.
Note: You can safely go another leveling route for Alchemy since it's much easier to level up this profession now. No more whining about how difficult it is to get to Alchemy 100 like it was back in TWW.
Camberon’s Cauldron Discovery System
The new discovery system is called Camberon’s Cauldron, and you’ll find it inside Silvermoon City, near your Alchemy trainer /way #15969 47.0 51.8 Camberon. Remember where it is, as you’ll need it to learn a lot of new recipes in the future. They’re a sort of little crafting achievements or side quests that you need to do in order to get them.
Firstly, you’ll only be able to unlock the Primal Philosopher’s Stone, which costs x5 Stabilized Derivate. This is basically nothing. Then, you can browse through other tabs like Flasks, Phials, as well as Potions and Transmutations. Not every recipe will be available at once. More on that in the next section.
How Camberon’s Cauldron Unlocks Work
Seeing something like “Become more versatile…” on the locked recipe means you need to learn other recipes before unlocking this one. You’ll also see the requirement where the game makes you craft a certain number of flaks or phials, and so on. This basically removes the RNG element entirely, and you only need to craft specific things the required number of times before unlocking the desired recipe. Let’s sum up:
- You craft a category a certain number of times (the only exception here is Transmutations, as there’s no such requirement)
- You pay Alchemy materials and Artisan Alchemist's Moxie
- You learn the recipe once, then it is yours permanently
If the recipe you’ve just learned still appears in your Camberon’s Cauldron, close it and open it again.
The Stabilized Derivate Leveling Loop

Stabilized Derivate is a must-have reagent you’re going to need for learning new recipes. You get it by recycling unwanted potions and flasks. The point I’m trying to make here is that everything you craft on your way to Alchemy 1-100 in WoW is going to be useful.
Let’s look at this guide from a different perspective for a second. It’s not just for leveling, but also for understanding what Alchemy offers in the new expansion. Moving towards a more general WoW Alchemy guide for a sec, let’s see how this Stabilized Derivate loop works:
- You craft any potions and flasks, even early ones will work just fine
- Recycle the ones you don’t need
- Get Stabilized Derivate in return
- Use it to unlock new recipes, and don’t feel like you’ve wasted materials crafting something you needed only for the first-craft bonus
Even those tiny flasks you create for the sake of the first-craft bonus. All that can be recycled later and turned into progression currency. And that currency helps you unlock more recipes through the Camberon’s Cauldron I’ve just talked about
Weekly Alchemy KPs in Midnight
What Alchemy leveling guide would that be if I don’t mention all the Weekly Knowledge Points sources in WoW Midnight. They’re super essential, especially early on, when you decide what specialization to develop deeper. I’ve got a quick list for you with all the Weekly Knowledge Points sources and how many of them you can get:
- Patron Crafting Orders: 16
- Crafting Order or Trainer Quest: 2
- Treasure Drops: 4
- Treatise: 1
That brings you to a total of 23 Weekly KPs for Alchemy. I highly recommend you not to skip this if you’re serious about this prof. Or you’ll be stuck with an underdeveloped spec and can’t make enough gold with Alchemy.
One-Time Alchemy KPs in Midnight
Beyond the Event Horizon: Alchemy can be bought from Voidstorm Renown Quartermaster. It grants you 10 Midnight Alchemy Knowledge Points once.
Alchemy Treasures in Midnight
Another source of one-time KPs for Alchemy and other professions is treasures. So far, you can discover 8 Alchemy treasures, each giving 3 Knowledge Points. This gives you a total of 24 KPs. Get ready to fly around since they’re scattered in different zones from Silvermoon City to Harandar and more. Here are the exact Midnight Alchemy treasures locations:

Alchemy Trainers

As I’ve said earlier in this Midnight Alchemy guide, you’ll need to visit trainers quite often to learn the basic recipes. This will be your starting point to get to 30 and beyond. But you’ll learn all the available recipes by Skill 15 already. After that, you’ll only need to use Camberon's Cauldron and rely on the brand-new discovery system. See all Alchemy trainers in Midnight and their exact coordinates:

Right where Camberon is standing, you’ll also find his Camberon's Cauldron needed to learn a ton of recipes.
Alchemy Equipment
This part of the guide doesn’t really cover how to level Alchemy fast, but profession-specific tools and accessories matter more than you think. They’re an extra boost to your Multicraft, Resourcefulness, and Crafting Speed. All that will help you during leveling and further. The problem is, as always, with finding who is going to craft them for you. Or you can also get them from the Auction House. Check out what Alchemy equipment you can get in Midnight:

Alchemy Specializations That Lower Leveling Cost
Don’t get mad at me. I know that you don’t care about specializations when leveling, and you might not have decided on what you’re going to focus on yet. I’m just telling you that you can go for the one that helps you on the leveling path I’ve described earlier in the guide.
If you stick to the Light’s Potential crafting route, the Potion Prowess specialization of Alchemy in Midnight is the best pick. It naturally lines up with what you’re going to craft most when earning those sweet Skill Points. Within those paths, you usually choose between multicraft-focused nodes and ingenuity-focused nodes. For leveling and mass crafting, multicraft is the stat that makes your materials stretch further.
As for other Alchemy specs in Midnight, only Alchemical Mastery seems okay for leveling specifically. The reason for this is how fundamental it is. It provides bonuses that apply broadly, including skills that help every craft you do. That means your leveling craft, your first-craft bonuses, and your side crafts all benefit without you needing to overthink it. But that’s not the go-to pick, especially if you have chosen the leveling path I’ve shared.
Alchemy Leveling Mistakes That Waste Gold

Midnight’s new system makes it easy to spend gold on “progress” that does not actually help leveling. Most mistakes come from chasing momentum emotionally instead of following the plan.
|
Mistake |
Why It Happens |
Better Approach |
|
Forcing yellow crafts too long |
It seems productive |
Swap into Cauldron unlocks and your main potion |
|
Ignoring recycling |
Leftovers feel useless because you’re used to the old system |
Treat Stabilized Derivate as leveling fuel and never throw away even the cheapest items |
|
Unlocking everything immediately |
Completionist brain |
Unlock what helps leveling first, collect later |
|
Overbuying early materials in bulk |
Launch prices swing hard, and you experience FOMO |
Start small, scale only after costs are balance,d and don’t rush |
The biggest mistake, in my opinion, is ignoring recycling. This slows down your level a ton, and you won’t even understand it if you don’t compare your speed to someone else’s. A friend of mine saw this when we were playing together during the pre-patch and was shocked. And that’s why you don’t want to be in his place, especially during the early-launch phase and fresh seasons.
