What is Festival of the Lost Event

Festival of the Lost is Destiny 2’s yearly Halloween event that returns each year. Guardians wear masks, collect candy, and face haunted enemies. All this is necessary to earn exclusive rewards.

Eva Levante comes back as the event host. She decorates the Tower and hands out masks to start your adventure. You can then join special activities, earn themed weapons, and grab limited-time cosmetics. Here’s a quick Festival of the Lost overview in 2025:

Start and End Dates

Festival of the Lost 2025 has an official release date of October 21, 2025. The start time lines up with Destiny 2’s usual weekly reset. This means you can jump in right after the servers refresh. From that point, you’ll have a full two weeks to enjoy the event and collect all the limited-time loot.

The end date for Festival of the Lost 2025 is November 4, 2025. After that, the event disappears until next year’s spooky season. Plan ahead to grab all the exclusive weapons, armor, and candy. You won’t have that much time for this event.

How to Start Festival of the Lost 2025

Once the event begins, head straight to the Tower. You’ll find Eva Levante waiting in the Courtyard, surrounded by glowing pumpkins and festive lights. She’s the main event vendor and will guide you through everything you need to do. See how to start Festival of the Lost in detail:

2. Pick up the Festival of the Lost quest
3. Equip your Festival Mask from Eva’s inventory
4. Start any activity while wearing the mask to earn Candy and other rewards

You’ll need to keep your mask on during all event activities. Without it, you won’t collect Candy or progress toward event challenges. After finishing Eva’s short quest, you’ll unlock access to Haunted Sectors and other special activities. That’s where the real Halloween fun begins.

Festival of the Lost Activities

Both PvE and PvP fans have a unique activity to get into this year. They offer special rewards and can be accessed from the Tower map. You also need to grab a mask from Eva Levante before starting any of them. Here’s a list of Festival of the Lost activities in 2025:

• Haunted Altars – PvE
• Red Rum(ble) – PvP

The first one is Haunted Altars. It’s a six-player PvE activity set on the Moon. You’ll defend altars, fight waves of enemies, and charge up energy for a final boss fight. Once the monster appears, your team must destroy it to earn Candy and loot. It’s fast, wild, and feels perfectly Halloween.

The second is Red Rum(ble). It’s a limited-time PvP mode made for pure chaos. Six players fight each other while Headless Ones drop ammo, explosive pumpkins, and buffs. These power-ups make every round feel unpredictable and fun.

Haunted Sectors Explained

Haunted Sectors return in Festival of the Lost once again with a few big updates. In 2025, you’ve got new difficulty levels and fresh loot to chase. This is where you’ll spend most of your time farming Candy, Eerie Engrams, and event weapons.

Each run works like a mix of a wave defense and a boss fight. You’ll move through spooky areas full of Hive enemies and the infamous Headless Ones. Expect the following when jumping inside:

3. Defeat them to spawn more until you reach the limit of ten
4. Once you clear enough, the main boss appears
5. Damage the boss until it becomes shielded
6. Kill another Headless One and use its pumpkin bombs to break the shield
7. Repeat until the boss falls, and open the final chest for loot

It’s easy to follow and gets intense fast when you fight higher-level enemies. Each kill gives Candy and progress toward your event triumphs.

This year’s lineup features three headline weapons that every Guardian should chase. Each one has strong perk rolls, great synergy with current builds, and beautiful Halloween-themed designs.

Each weapon can drop from Haunted Sectors and Red Rum(ble) matches. You can also earn Eerie Engrams from other activities, then focus them for specific guns at Eva.

The Hushed Whisper is your perfect Strand bow if you like precision and range. Gunburn is a fast and reliable SMG that fits both PvP and PvE loadouts. Arcane Embrace is the newest addition, built for close-range boss damage with great burst potential.

If you only have time to farm one weapon, Gunburn is the easiest to get and the most flexible. Still, all three are worth chasing for their God Rolls and unique looks. They also drop slightly above your current Power Level. This means you can use them to boost your gear faster.

Festival of the Lost Armor in 2025

How to Get Superblack Shader

Superblack returns for Festival of the Lost 2025. You can earn it again. The shader unlocks by completing the entire Event Card. You must finish every listed challenge on the card. Here’s how to get Superblack Shader:

1. Visit Eva in the Tower and grab the Event Card from her
2. Equip your Festival Mask so your progress starts counting toward challenges right away
3. Run Haunted Sectors to farm Candy, Pages, and Eerie Engrams for objectives
4. Join Red Rum(ble) if you need extra quick wins for Event Card progress
5. Focus Eerie Engrams at Eva’s station once you unlock the related tasks
6. Check your Event Card often and claim completed challenges after each session
7. Finish the full card, and the Superblack Shader will automatically appear in your reward list

It takes a little time, but it’s worth it. Superblack gives your armor a clean, pitch-black finish that looks incredible on every set. Equip it once, and you’ll see why it’s one of Destiny’s most iconic looks.

Masks and Cosmetics

You’ll get your first mask from Eva Levante at the Tower as soon as the event begins. Without it, you can’t earn Candy, Pages, or other event drops, so keep it on whenever you play. Every mask works as an ornament that fits onto the Masquerader’s Helmet. The latter is bought for just 100 Glimmer. From there, you can swap between any mask you’ve unlocked without changing your stats or build.

• Classic Character Masks: These include returning favorites like the Drifter, Zavala, and Eris Morn.
