Kell’s Fall Exotic Mission Overview

Kell's Fall is the centerpiece Exotic Mission introduced in the Revenant: Act III update for Destiny 2. The mission thrusts players into Fikrul's Revenant Fortress, a stronghold of the Scorn, where Guardians represent House Light as Mithrax’s Slayer Baron in a duel to decide the future of the Fallen and the identity of the Kell of Kells.

Here’s a quick Kell’s Fall exotic mission overview and backstory. The mission unfolds against the backdrop of Eido’s urgent quest to upgrade her Tonic Laboratory. Her goal? To create a lethal tonic capable of permanently killing Fikrul, the Fanatic, and ending his reign of terror. The player’s task is to raid the Revenant Fortress multiple times, collecting components such as the Hangman’s Flail and the Scorned Organist’s resonant pipe—gruesome but essential ingredients for the tonic.

Adding intrigue to the mission, Guardians will encounter Ixis, a former House Salvation apothecary imprisoned in the fortress. Unlike most prisoners of the Scorn, she has resisted their corruption and plays a key role in aiding Eido to craft the Fikrul-killing tonic. Through daring rescues and repeat assaults, players will build toward a climactic final battle that will decide the fate of the Fallen. And now, let’s get into the Kell's Fall mission guide itself and see what kind of challenges you’ll encounter in each of the mission’s iterations. BLOG20

Kell’s Fall Full Walkthrough

The Kell’s Fall mission features three versions, each with unique bosses and challenges:

  1. Reksis Vahn, the Hangman (Reflection): A brutal melee-focused Scorn champion who demands precise positioning and quick evasion.
  2. Scorned Organist (Distortion): A sinister maestro leveraging devastating soundwave attacks and AoE mechanics.
  3. Fikrul, the Fanatic (Diffraction): The ultimate test of this mission, combining overwhelming power and intricate mechanics in an unforgettable final duel.

Entering the Revenant Fortress

The mission begins with you entering Fikrul’s Revenant Fortress, a dark and ominous Scorn stronghold. You’ll notice immediately that your weapons and abilities are disabled. This deliberate choice by Fikrul underscores the theatrical nature of the encounter—he wants you to witness his power firsthand without resistance.

Your task here is to navigate the initial pathways of the fortress. The eerie quiet and Scorn guards observing your every step make it clear that this is no ordinary mission. You’ll receive some exposition from Fikrul as he sets the stage for your eventual showdown.

Once you reach a large, open courtyard, your abilities and weapons will return, signaling the start of the first encounter.

The Trickster Encounter

Your first challenge is facing Araskes The Trickster, a cunning Scorn lieutenant known for her elusive tactics. She won’t engage directly at first, preferring to toy with you while summoning waves of Scorn ads. The Trickster’s signature move is to enter invulnerability phases, forcing you to deal with her minions instead.

This encounter tests your crowd control and patience. While the Trickster can’t be damaged during her immune phases, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to chip away at her health when she’s vulnerable.

  • Tip: Focus on positioning and clearing ads efficiently. Use cover to avoid getting overwhelmed, especially during her invulnerability phases.

After reducing her health enough, the Trickster retreats deeper into the fortress, opening the path to the Organ Room.

The Organ Room and Mirror Portals

The Organ Room is the first major puzzle area and introduces the unique Mirror Portal mechanic. In the center of the room is a large organ, flanked by gates and doors that block your progress. To unlock these paths, you’ll need to interact with glowing braziers and navigate the mirrored dimensions using the portals.

The room challenges you to think strategically and pay attention to environmental clues. Mirror Portals transport you to inverted versions of the fortress, where pathways shift, and mechanics change.

Solving the Organ Room Puzzle

  1. Light the braziers on the left and right sides of the room to open specific gates.
  2. Break destructible rocks near certain pathways to reveal hidden tunnels.
  3. Activate a shimmering mirror to turn it into a portal and jump through.

Once inside the mirrored dimension (noted by its reversed text under your radar), follow lit braziers to guide your path. This area can be disorienting, so take your time exploring and clearing enemies before progressing.

The Fighting Pits

The Fighting Pits is the first combat-intensive section of the mission, blending mechanics and enemy waves. Here, you’ll face Pit Enforcers, two powerful Scorn enemies who start the fight immune to damage.

Your objective is to gather Revenant Motes to break their shields and eventually defeat them.

How to Progress in the Fighting Pits

  • Clear initial waves of Scorn ads to open a Mirror Portal on the right side of the room.
  • Enter the portal and defeat enemies inside to collect Revenant Motes.
  • Return to the main arena with the Revenant Empowerment Buff, allowing you to damage the Pit Enforcers.

After taking down both Pit Enforcers, a boss named Kaniks, The Mad Bomber spawns in the center of the arena. Use your most powerful abilities and weapons to finish him off and proceed to the next section.

The Vestibule and Mind Bender Encounter

Continue through the opened door, and you'll end up behind the Organ room. Eventually, you'll find some rocks that can be destroyed to reveal the path into the new area called "Undercroft." After a somewhat short platforming section, you'll end up near another Rally point and a new area called the Vestibule. The Vestibule introduces more intricate puzzles alongside combat. This area marks your first encounter with the Hiraks, The Mindbender, a psychic Scorn lieutenant who will repeatedly flee until the final battle.

Solving the Vestibule Puzzle

To progress, you’ll need to interact with specific braziers while managing a timer. The timer starts when you enter a Mirror Portal, and if it runs out, you’ll die. Keep an eye on the timer and refresh it by briefly returning to the main dimension. Check the scorn totem torches on the door that turn off to ensure you're activating the right braziers.

After solving the puzzle, you’ll confront the Mindbender in the sanctum area. Initially, you can only deplete a third of their health before they retreat further into the fortress.

The Throne Room and Final Encounter with Fikrul

The final battle takes place in Fikrul’s Throne Room, where you’ll face both Fikrul and his summoned champion, Reksis Vahn, The Hangman. This multi-phase encounter combines mechanics from earlier sections with intense combat.

Phase One: Battling Fikrul

  1. Begin by dealing damage to Fikrul while managing waves of Scorn ads.
  2. When Fikrul initiates a wipe mechanic, enter the nearby Mirror Portal to collect Revenant Motes.
  3. Gain the Revenant Empowerment Buff and return to continue damaging Fikrul.

Phase Two: Defeating The Hangman

Once Fikrul summons Reksis Vahn, The Hangman, focus on defeating this powerful melee boss. Use the buff from Revenant Motes to maximize your damage output.

Final Phase

With The Hangman defeated, Fikrul retreats, concluding the mission. You’re rewarded with the base Slayer’s Fang Exotic Shotgun blueprint, and additional challenges unlock for those seeking to complete catalysts and intrinsic traits.

Kell’s Fall Exotic Mission Rewards

The Kell’s Fall Exotic Mission offers players a treasure trove of rewards, making it one of the most anticipated activities of Revenant Act 3. These rewards are a mix of powerful gear, unique collectibles, and crafting materials that contribute to both gameplay efficiency and lore immersion. Completing the mission provides players with more than just an exciting challenge—it’s a gateway to exclusive loot.

Here’s a list of D2 Kell’s Fall rewards you can earn from the mission:

  • Slayer’s Fang Exotic Shotgun: The headline reward, this Exotic Void shotgun comes with unique perks like Nightsworn Sight and Heart Piercer, making it a must-have for players aiming to dominate in PvE and PvP alike.
  • Enriching Powder: A key crafting material used to brew the Fikrul-killing tonic in Eido’s laboratory, tying into the overarching story of the Revenant Acts.
  • Red Tape Scout Rifle: A lightweight Stasis weapon featuring a versatile perk pool for customization and optimization.
  • Heretic's Fervor Stasis Rocket Launcher: as an Aggressive Frame weapon, it delivers high damage with significant recoil, making it effective against powerful adversaries.
  • Vintage Kell’s Fall Weaponry: A chance to earn classic weapons from the Kell’s Fall era, updated for the current version of the game.
  • Unique Mission Cosmetics: Completing challenges within the mission may unlock emblems, shaders, or ships exclusive to Kell’s Fall.

In addition to these core rewards, expert difficulty offers enhanced versions of loot and exclusive triumphs for collectors and completionists. Keep an eye out for secret chests scattered throughout the mission, as they could hold rare crafting schematics or other surprises.

Once you finish the mission for the first time, you'll be able to accept some new quests from Apothecary Eido to get the weapon parts:

  1. Revenant Slayer 1 - Defeat combatants while under the effects of a tonic from your Tonic Capsule. Reward: Repulsor Brace Refit;
  2. Revenant Slayer 2 - Defeat combatants while under the effects of a tonic from your Tonic Capsule. Reward: Loose Change Refit;
  3. Revenant Slayer 3 - Defeat combatants while under the effects of a tonic from your Tonic Capsule. Reward: Stats for All Refit;
  4. Revenant Slayer 4 - Defeat combatants while under the effects of a tonic from your Tonic Capsule. Reward: Cascade Point Refit;

Each quest begins by requiring combatants to be defeated while under the effects of a tonic from the Tonic Capsule. Any tonic can be used, but the kills must occur within the Exotic Mission itself. Free-roam kills do not contribute to this objective.
While Slayer’s Fang isn’t mandatory, it is recommended to use it. Players need to secure 20 kills in total, either through weapons or abilities, while within the mission.

The next quest step involves destroying Illusory Anchors, which are located in the Revenant Plane—the mirrored dimension accessed throughout the mission. Illusory Anchors are initially invisible but can be revealed by aiming down sights with the Slayer's Fang Exotic Shotgun. Audio cues also assist in locating these anchors.

There are four zones where Illusory Anchors can be found:

  1. Mirror Gallery: Near the beginning of the mission.
  2. Fighting Pits: The area during the first encounter with Pit Enforcers.
  3. Sanctum: Found during the mid-mission sections, leading to the Mind Bender.
  4. Throne Room: Located in the final section where the confrontation with Fikrul occurs.

Each zone contains three Illusory Anchors that must be destroyed. After completing the initial steps, Guardians must finish the mission on Expert Mode to progress. This step ties into other objectives and ensures access to Slayer's Fang catalysts and full customization options.

How to Get Intrinsic Upgrades for the Slayer's Fang

First of all, make sure that you've completed Kell's Fall at least twice to unlock all of the Organ buttons that you'll need to press to get these upgrades. Yes, unlocking the intrinsic is tied to the organ puzzle. Ther are 13 notes or buttons on the organ, and to use the correct sequences, number these notes from left to right from 1 to 13. The sequences to enter can be found on some of the walls inside the fortress. For example, on the screenshot below you have 2-11-1-10-7-6:

Not all codes do the same thing, but if it leads to an intrinsic, you don't just get it after entering the code. After entering the correct sequence of notes, step onto a platform, and you'll see the message: "The melody sounds like ancient gears grinding deep within the fortress." After that, you'll need to find an opened door that leads to a room where the intrinsic upgrade can be picked up. Here are all the sequences and what they unlock:

Code Reward Location Details
2-11-1-10-7-6 Unlocks Intrinsic Frame 2. Found on a wall in the top-right path from the organ room. Opens a new room in the Right Bailey, where the intrinsic can be collected.
1-4-11-1-4-10 Unlocks Intrinsic Frame 3. Found in the top-left path from the organ room, determined by objects near symbols. Opens a door in the Mirror Gallery near a room with a tree in the middle.
1-8-1-6 Unlocks Intrinsic Frame 4 and an exotic tonic. Found in the Sanctum, after lighting three braziers in the Vestibule. Opens a hidden door above the hole entered into the Sanctum. Also grants exotic tonic for ciphers.
1-8-4-11-1-6-4-10 Opens a Uldren worship room (Shrine). Symbols scattered in the Undercroft, main path, and a nearby cave. Unlocks a door on a red building in the Undercroft, which contains a shrine and plays Thin Line OST.
10-4-6-1-11-4-8-1 Triggers a secret boss fight ("The Organist"). Reverse of the Uldren Shrine code. Found in the Undercroft; unlocks Act 3 fieldwork task.
4-7-9-6-2-6-7-1 Plays Savathûn's Song. Discovered through musical alignment with the organ. Triggers Savathûn's laughter and a brief voice line.
1-8-1-9 Unlocks an exotic tonic (or candy). Adds "The Trickster" to "The Mad Bomber" fight. Found on a pillar at the entrance to the organ room. If Trickster is damaged enough to despawn, she starts her final encounter with no health bar.
1-8-1-11-9 Unlocks an exotic tonic (or candy). Adds "The Trickster" to "The Mindbender" fight. Found in the final boss room. If Trickster is damaged enough to despawn, she starts her final encounter with no health bar.

Try them all out.
