What Are Puzzling Cartel Chips?

Puzzling Cartel Chips, often referred to by players as Dinars, are a special currency introduced in Patch 11.1.5 as part of the Turbo Boost Event in The War Within Season 2. This limited-time system is aimed at easing the gearing process for players who want more control over their equipment progression—especially those struggling with random drop luck in raids and Mythic+ dungeons.

Unlike currencies tied to general vendors or seasonal activities, Puzzling Cartel Chips serve a very specific role: letting you directly purchase select pieces of Liberation of Undermine raid gear and Mythic+ trinkets from a dedicated vendor. This system gives players a rare opportunity to hand-pick high-value gear instead of relying entirely on RNG, making it a powerful catch-up and optimization tool during the mid-season.

The Chips are tightly integrated into the Turbo Boost system, which also features improvements to gear upgrade tracks, profession crafting enhancements, and changes to currency caps. Though this guide focuses on the Chips themselves, a full breakdown of the event's other mechanics can be found in our Turbo Boost Event Guide.

As with similar systems in previous expansions—like Bullions or Dinars from Dragonflight—this version comes with its own limitations and structure, which we'll break down in the sections ahead. From how to earn them to what you can buy and when, understanding how WoW 11.1.5 dinars work can significantly impact your gearing efficiency throughout Season 2.

How to Earn Puzzling Cartel Chips

The Puzzling Cartel Chips system goes live on May 13, 2025 for North American players and May 14 in Europe, arriving alongside the Turbo Boost Event in The War Within Season 2.

While the event itself includes several gearing improvements, this guide focuses specifically on how to get Puzzling Cartel Chips through weekly gameplay. A full breakdown of Turbo Boost's broader features is covered in a separate guide. BLOG20

Weekly Quests Starting May 13

Players will receive access to two new weekly quests, but can only pick one per week:

  • Turbo-Boost: Powerhouse Challenges
  • Ultra Prime Deluxe Turbo-Boost: Powerhouse Challenges

Despite the names, both quests share the same objective and reward structure. The only difference is the visual presentation and possibly thematic flavor. Each quest offers a guaranteed way to earn Puzzling Cartel Chips on a weekly cadence.

Quest Objectives

To complete either quest, you must do one of the following:

  1. Defeat 4 bosses from the Liberation of Undermine raid
  2. Complete 4 Mythic+ dungeons

You don’t have to do both—just one full set of four from either activity will complete the quest for the week.

Weekly Rewards Breakdown

Each completed weekly quest grants a set number of Puzzling Cartel Chips. The first week offers a larger reward, followed by consistent single-chip payouts in subsequent weeks. The full schedule is as follows:

Weekly Puzzling Cartel Chip Rewards

Week Week Range (U.S.) Chips Earned
Week 1 May 13 – May 19 3
Week 2 May 20 – May 26 1
Week 3  May 27 – June 2 1
Week 4 June 3 – June 9 1
Week 5 June 10 – June 16 1
Week 6 June 17 – June 23 1
Week 7 June 24 – June 30 1

Note: For players in the EU region, the weekly reset falls on Wednesdays, meaning each week begins one day later than listed here. For example, Week 1 in the EU runs from May 14 to May 20, and so on. The number of Chips and total progression remains identical.

This progression allows you to accumulate up to 9 Chips per character by the end of Week 7. You’ll be able to purchase your first item in Week 1, your second by Week 4, and your final third item in Week 7—assuming you complete the quest each week without missing one.

Earning these Chips is straightforward but time-gated, so staying on top of your weekly quest is key if you plan to make the most of the system.

Where to Spend Puzzling Cartel Chips

Once you've earned your Puzzling Cartel Chips through weekly quests, you'll need to head to the right place to put them to use. All purchases are made through a single vendor, and since Chips are limited, choosing carefully is essential.

Vendor Location: Consultant Wrexxle

The vendor you're looking for is Consultant Wrexxle, who can be found in Dornogal, the primary city hub in The War Within. Wrexxle stands just outside the Great Vault, making them easy to locate for players checking in on their weekly rewards.

The Cartel Chip vendor location is:

 /way 52.0, 46.0 Dornogal

Interacting with Wrexxle will open a shop containing raid and Mythic+ gear—each piece tied to specific track requirements, which we’ll explain later in this guide.

Item Cost and Limits

Each item on Wrexxle's menu costs 3 Puzzling Cartel Chips, no more, no less. Because the total number of Chips you can earn is capped at 9 per character, this means you’ll only be able to purchase 3 items in total during the entire season.

There are no refund or exchange options, and no partial purchases—once you spend your Chips, the decision is final. If you’re eyeing specific upgrades or Myth track gear, it’s worth reviewing your eligibility and priorities before making any purchases.

Planning ahead is just as important as earning the Chips themselves, especially when the entire system is designed around limited opportunity.

Who Can Buy What: Gear Access Requirements

Before you spend your Chips at Consultant Wrexxle, it’s important to understand that not all gear is immediately available to everyone. The vendor offers both Hero and Myth track versions of items, but your character must meet specific criteria to unlock each type.

Hero Track Gear

You can purchase Hero track gear if you've defeated the associated raid boss on any difficulty, including Raid Finder, Normal, or Heroic. This makes Hero track gear broadly accessible, as even casual raiders can meet this requirement.

Mythic Track Gear

Myth track items are locked behind more challenging content and come with stricter requirements:

  • Raid Items: Want the Myth track version of a raid piece? You’ll need to kill the boss it drops from on Mythic difficulty. So if you're eyeing The Jastor Diamond, make sure you’ve taken down Chrome King Gallywix on Mythic first.
  • Mythic+ Items: For Myth track dungeon trinkets, you’ve gotta time all Season 2 Mythic+ dungeons at +12 or higher. Once that’s done, Wrexxle will let you grab any M+ trinket at Mythic-level power.

Spending early on a Hero track item might feel like progress, but if you later unlock the Myth version, you won’t be able to swap.

If you're aiming to push Mythic bosses or complete timed +12s, consider holding onto your Chips until those goals are met. The system rewards patience and planning just as much as participation.

What You Can Buy with Puzzling Cartel Chips

Spending your Chips is where planning pays off. The Puzzling Cartel Chips cap is 9 per character during the Turbo Boost event, each purchase matters. The vendor Consultant Wrexxle offers a range of handpicked gear from the Liberation of Undermine raid and Season 2 Mythic+ dungeons, including trinkets, weapons, accessories, and more. All items cost 3 Chips and are available in Hero and Myth track versions depending on your eligibility.

Let’s break down what you can buy, starting with some of the most in-demand gear in the game—raid trinkets.

Trinkets from the Liberation of Undermine provide a broad spectrum of effects. There's something here for nearly every role and spec – raw stats, procs, or powerful on-use abilities.

Moving into Mythic+ territory, Blizzard has stocked Wrexxle’s table with some of the most desirable trinkets from across the Season 2 dungeon pool. These are particularly attractive if you’re chasing specific stat profiles or procs that are notoriously hard to farm.

Mythic+ Trinkets by Role (preview)

Each of the WoW mythic+ trinkets 11.1.5 must be unlocked with timed completions of all dungeons at +12 or higher, but the payoff is worth it—especially if you're chasing BiS performance without relying on low drop chances.

And if you're wondering where some of your favorites come from, here's a quick reference:

Grim Codex drops from Theater of Pain, while Modular Platinum Plating and Ingenious Mana Battery are both found in Operation: Mechagon. Synergistic Brewterializer comes from Cinderbrew Meadery, and Burin of the Candle King is found in Darkflame Cleft. These dungeon-specific origins matter if you’re aiming to unlock Myth versions before spending your Chips.

Conclusion

Puzzling Cartel Chips are a rare opportunity to take control of your gearing path in The War Within Season 2. With only nine Chips available per character and no room for second chances, each decision carries weight. The system is clearly designed to reward thoughtful planning, weekly consistency, and an understanding of your own goals—be it pushing Mythic+, progressing in raid content, or filling in persistent gear gaps.

The strength of this system lies in its flexibility. You can tailor your purchases around best-in-slot trinkets, hard-to-get weapon drops, or powerful off-pieces, so long as you’ve met the necessary requirements. Those pushing high keys or tackling Mythic bosses will find the Myth track especially rewarding, while the Hero track offers valuable upgrades for those progressing through less demanding content.

Take time to evaluate your raid and dungeon progress, and map out which three items will give you the biggest return. The Chips won’t solve all your gearing problems, but used wisely, they can eliminate some of the biggest pain points of endgame loot in Season 2.
