All Bosses in Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert’s gameplay is gripping and challenging, to the point where it may seem unfair. The true test comes in boss fights, of which there are plenty thrown all around the huge map. In this article, I’m going over all bosses in Crimson Desert.

Read about All Bosses in Crimson Desert

All Bosses in Crimson Desert Quick Summary:

  • There are 76 bosses in the game, with 28 of them being main story bosses.
  • Most bosses are vulnerable to grappling, as it drains their stagger bar. Note that not every boss can be grappled, even if they are humanoids.
  • One of the biggest sources of damage in arenas is broken pillars. If a boss breaks one during the fight, use Nature’s Grasp to hit them with it. It usually deals 25-50% of HP worth of damage.
  • The last boss fight is an endurance run of fighting 3 bosses back to back, with the first one being a 3-phase fight. Take lots of Palmar Pills and food.

Crimson Desert All Main Bosses

Crimson Desert is a huge game. While beating the game takes about ~55 hours, the full completion may take well over a hundred hours. In this game, bosses play a significant part, but there are lots of them hidden all over the world, and it can be quite difficult to find them. Thus, in this article, I’ll list all the main bosses and all the optional bosses found so far. The more bosses I find, the more I’ll add. According to the in-game codex, there are 76 bosses in the game. Then again, you fight some of them multiple times throughout the main quest, so this number may be inaccurate. With this said, here’s a list of all main bosses in Crimson Desert:

Boss

Description

Rewards

Myurdin

Met during the Ambush in the Prologue of the game. Leader of the Black Bears, who are enemies of Greymanes.

No rewards

Matthias

A knight you meet in Hernand, in Chapter 2, during the Hernand in Chaos questline. Dodge his Pump Kick, and he’s easy to deal with.

Pump Kick: A dropkick that sends enemies flying.

Kailok the Hornsplitter

Chapter 2, End of the Greed questline. This boss is easy to cheese by using a Force Palm to stunlock him. Use dodge to get away from his Wind Slash.

Evasive Roll: A quick escape option.

Sword of the Lord: A unique weapon that lets you use Wind Slash.

Seal of Greed - Goldleaf Merchant Guild.

Iron Ore x7

Reed Devil

Chapter 3, The Face Behind the Mask. Reed Devil is a pretty challenging fight with a gimmick. During the fight, Reed Devil spawns totems that you need to break while he attacks you. Parry his attacks instead of turtling and dodge his Sword Wave.

Sunset Reed Cloth Gloves: Good early game piece of armor that gives you the Slashing Reed move.

Tenebrum

Chapter 4, Forbidden Knowledge. Tenebrum is very simple to finish. Crow Wings your way to it and spam Force Palm.

Spire of the Stars Key

Kearush the Slayer

The first questline in Chapter 5, Uninvited Guest. Kearush was a very difficult fight for me. His attacks are heavy, and he stuns you constantly. Kinda reminded me of Rajang. Turns out the easiest way to beat him is to jump on his back with the help of the Back Hang skill and deal damage from there. Easier said than done, though.

Gale I

Howling of Chaos

The Grove’s Thorn

Draven the Crowcaller

The next boss can be found right in the next questline, Black and White. Showing him your MMA moves is the best way to defeat him. Grapple him to drain his stagger bar and then use a heavy-hitting strike. His kit isn’t very difficult.

Aerial Roll: Learning this skill can make you dash during the flight.

Blackwing Leather Armor

Blackwing Mask

Tauria Curved Sword: A unique sword unlocking Crow’s Pursuit.

Cassius Morten

The final quest of Chapter 6, The Unyielding Shields, will make you face one of the hardest bosses in the game. But that’s the case unless you know how to deal with him quickly. During the fight, he’ll drop the pillars standing around the arena. Pick them up with Nature’s Grasp and bonk him on the head. They take away a huge chunk of his health quickly.

Shield of Betrayal: At this point in the game, it’s not the best shield, but it has some nice stats and looks good.

Ludvig / Awakened Ludvig

Ludvig is a leader of Jackals and a very ambitious man. His fight is quite challenging, because he moves very fast and hits really hard. In the second phase, when he reaches the Awakened form, it becomes even harder. Much like with Cassius, you can hit him with pillars standing inside the area, but it’s gonna be harder since there isn’t much space inside the building.

Hungering Fang Leather Cloak

Hungering Fang Leather Boots

Lava Myurdin

It’s a 2-phase boss fight where you take on Myurdin, who fights normally in the first phase and then starts spamming flaming attacks in the second phase. For the first phase, my recommendation is to grapple with him a lot, but in the second phase, it becomes impossible. Take your fire-resistant gear and take the fight straight on.

Melted Ambition

Pailunese Contribution Experience

One-Armed Ludvig

This fight is taken on by Oongka. It’s easier, which is to be expected since Ludvig is now weakened.

None

Gregor, the Halberd of Carnage

Met during the Where the Wind Guides You in Chapter 8. Gregor is surprisingly agile for someone clad in such heavy armor. Gregor’s attacks are easily parriable as he telegraphs them pretty well, so it shouldn’t be difficult.

Golden Vanguard

Fortain the Cursed Knight

Chapter 8, a quest titled The Cursed Knight. The fight is very chaotic, making it more difficult. At this point, you should be used to how bosses in Crimson Desert behave. Fortain’s fight is made harder because of the specters he summons and the soldiers that stagger you with their musket shots.

Shackle of Might

Gabriel Caliburn

The Blood Coronation. That’s where you’ll meet Gabriel Caliburn the first time. This is a scripted fight, so you lose no matter what.

None

Lucian Bastier

A Fleeting Dream, a quest in the very same Chapter 8, which is stacked with boss fights. Here, you play as Damiane, who, if you didn’t upgrade them, is gonna be tough. My recommendation is to spend some time with other characters in Chapter 7 to learn them better. And upgrade them. It’s a 2-phase fight, with the first one being relatively fine, but the second phase is just nightmare fuel. Bastier attacks so quickly that it’s almost impossible to do anything other than cry a little.

None

Goyen

During Chapter 9, the Unwavering Steps quest step. Goyen's fight is among my favorites. He fights similarly to Kliff, and I just have a soft spot for mirror battles. Dodge his attacks, and he’s not hard to deal with.

Witch’s Ring

Greymane’s Earring

T’rukan the Ascended

Chapter 9, True Strength. This knock-off King from Temu fights hard and hits even harder. His fierce and fast attacks are to be dodged, and this fight is basically a test of patience. Never attack out of turn and respect his moves.

Wooden Mask of Lost Justice

Wanderer of Faith leather Gloves

T’rukan’s Fighting Spirit

Hexe Marie

Chapter 9, Black Witch. Hexe Marie is one of those bosses that, on their own, aren’t hard, but it’s the enemies that accompany her that make the fight annoying. Try to use AoE skills to get rid of the enemies Marie summons and then put as much damage as possible once she opens. It’s a 2-phase fight, but the second phase isn’t that difficult. If anything, it’s more of a fan service for BDO players.

Earring of Dark Magic

Crow Whisperer

Master Du

During the Cloister of Enlightenment. Master Du is one of a few bosses in the game that can one-shot you, so this fight is a true test of skill. It’s a 2-phase fight, but mechanics don’t change significantly. In phase 2, Master Du becomes much faster. Dodge his bolts of energy in the second phase, as they kill you in one hit.

Master Du’s Circlet

Karmic Pulse

Marni’s Clockwork Mantis

Chapter 10, Frozen Hearted Predator. Finally, not a humanoid enemy. Blocking during this fight is a sure way to die. Dodge or parry Mantis’s attacks. The mechanical dragonflies over the arena are also pretty annoying.

None

Thunder Tank, Dreadnought,

Chapter 11, Fortress Keys. Thunder Tank is an interesting and unique boss. His attacks deal a lot of damage, but he can be one-shot if you hit his weak spot on the head. Stand close to it during the fight and drain his stagger bar. After it’s stunned, climb to its head and attack it. This should kill him instantly. Dreadnought is a pretty basic fight with no special mechanics. He hits hard, yes, but his attacks are easy to block and dodge. Watch out for the rays that he launches during the attacks. He can stunlock you with them and deal a lot of damage.

Mechanical Clockwork Blaster

Sonic Resonator

Frozen Heart Plate Cloak

Golden Star

Chapter 11, Master of a Forgotten Land. Golden Star is weak to electrical damage. Try to circle the boss to stay behind his back so that he doesn’t hit you with Breathing Fire. There are a few windows to attack him. During the Fiery Tornado cast, he has a long wind-up animation, allowing you to freely land a few heavy attacks.

Golden Star’s Power Core

Golden Star’s Component

Bloodstone x2

Flying Fortress Orbian

Final quest in chapter 11. This battle consists of two stages. First, you fight the Fortress atop your dragon, and in phase two, you fight the Fortress yourself. Circle around the Fortress Orbian and shoot the glowing weak points. Dodging its attacks is quite easy. During the second stage, you fight the Fortress in its heart. Make sure you get enough arrows to shoot its core during the fight. The fight is straightforward. Dodge the lasers and shoot the “eye” when it opens.

None

Musket Ultimate Weapon

Chapter 12, Deferred Advance. There are three cores you need to attack while flying on your dragon. More of a spectacle than a real boss fight.

None

Righteous Inquisitors Commander

Chapter 12, Departure of the Brave. You’re fighting the boss during a large-scale battle with Greymanes supporting you. The boss has wide slashes that are hard to dodge because of their timings, and the boss has a tendency to stagger you once he lands his attack. The boss is only a preparation for the final battle.

None

Corrupted Caliburn

Chapter 12, Forbidden Gate. Caliburn is only the first boss in this three-step battle, which sees you fighting three bosses back-to-back. Corrupted Caliburn is a very difficult fight, fitting for a final boss. He spawns his echoes that attack you, and dishes out a dodge so that he catches you during it. He constantly teleports around the arena and attacks you from different sides. In the second phase, he starts shooting you with arrows and uses attacks similar to Ludvig’s Awakened form. In the third phase of the fight, Calbirun creates even more echoes that attack you with giant energy swords. His movement becomes even more frantic, and he constantly switches between his attack patterns.

Twisted Verdict

Myurdin, Avatar of Umbra

Chapter 12, A Shadow in the Void. At the end of the fight with Caliburn, he turns into Myurdin and teleports deeper into the Abyss. The first phase is nothing special. Myurdin has a lot of attacks that can easily kill you in two hits. The second phase copies the second phase of Caliburn and Ludvig. Myurding brings out large weapons that have a massive reach.

None

Umbra

Chapter 12, Blinding Darkness. The third and final stage of the boss fight turns the game into a shoot 'em up. You fly on your dragon and shoot a huge entity that looks like an angel.

None

And these are all 28 bosses in the main plotline. These are far from all the bosses available in the game, as optional bosses can be even harder than the main ones. So far, I know of six of them. Let’s take a look at them.

Crimson Desert All Optional Bosses

I genuinely fight optional bosses much more interesting than the main story ones. Main story bosses are like 90% humanoids that you just hit and dodge. Not to say that their movesets copy each other, further down the plot you go. Optional bosses are not like that and are pretty unique. Even if they’re humanoid, they behave differently. Below is the list of all optional bosses in Crimson Desert:

  • Marni’s Excavatron: Available during the quest Estate in Dismay. To start it, go to Bluemont Manor and talk to House Robert’s Servant. The best way to defeat Excavatron is by force palming him to stop his attacks. Don’t stay too close until you get an opening. You get a Gold Vein Map and Mining Knuckledrill after finishing the fight.
  • Crimson Nightmare: This boss fight is available in a quest after doing the Estate in Dismay. After some time, talk to Count Roberts in Bluemont Manor. Crimson Nightmare is a rhombus releasing a cloud of red smoke. Fly on Crow’s Wings and Force Palm the rhombus to drop it to the ground, then attack it. You continuously lose health when fighting the Crimson Nightmare, so bring healing items. As a reward, you get Focused Repulsion, which allows you to repel everything when in the Focused state. As a reward, you get Freya’s Elixir, two Apollonia’s Lesser Elixir and Meliara’s Lesser Elixir.
  • Saigord the Staglord: This boss fight is actually quite challenging for something available quite early on. To start the quest, go to Hernand Farmhouse and talk to the guards. Staglord has a lot of red attacks that are better dodged. Other than that, he’s a pretty standard but challenging human fight. I consider it to be essential, as it unlocks Turning Slash Expertise that increases the damage of one of your skills significantly, given that the skill is already quite hard-hitting. You get a Staglord’s Shield as a reward.
  • Antumbra’s Sword: This boss fight gives a good taste of what’s to come later in the main story. You can find this boss in Sanctum of Absolution during the Cloister of Ruination quest. The main difficulty stems from you fighting the boss in a tiny space. His attacks are wide, and he creates illusions that attack you as well. A good strategy is to use Blinding Flash to stun Antumbra’s Sword and then attack him. Use your surroundings to avoid his attacks and repeatedly use Blinding Flash. Antumbra’s Sword drops Abyss Artifact and a Vessel of Dark Pursuit.
  • Priscus the Ancient: You find this boss by exploring the open world. Go to Spire of Ringing Truth in Pailune. Priscus is one of the easier boss fights in the game despite his daunting name. You can easily beat him by using Nature’s Snare to block the projectiles and send them back to him. He rewards you with Blessing of the Immortal, Ancient’s Necklace, and Ancient Retribution.
  • Abyss Kutum: Another boss found during exploration. You can find him in the Abyss, in the Twisted Thicketway. The bow will be your best ally in this fight as you can knock out his eye out of a socket. After that, simply attack the eye with whatever. Abyss Kutum drops Abyss Artifact and a Power Core - Spire of Defiance.

There are more optional bosses to fight in the land of Pywel, but this is all I’ve got today. I’ll update the article as I find more bosses. While not every boss rewards with some great loot, I think the main reward is fighting a unique enemy that you won’t meet anywhere else.

F.A.Q

How many bosses are there in Crimson Desert?

According to the codex, there are 76 bosses available in the game. Only 28 of them are main quest bosses.

Are bosses difficult to fight in Crimson Desert?

Early game bosses are much harder than late game ones, except for the very last boss fight. The more you play, the more options you’ll have that can outright cheese most of the fights.

What can help me in Crimson Desert boss fights?

Take Palmar Pills, food to heal, learn Blinding Flash to stun bosses, Nature’s Snare to block their projectile attacks, Lariat to drain their stagger bar, and Turning Slash to deal huge burst damage.

How do I deal with the boss I can’t beat in Crimson Desert?

Usually, you can just cheese them, or brute-force the fight by taking lots of heals and Palmar Pills to revive yourself. If this doesn’t help, try finding better gear and farming Abyss Artifacts to upgrade Kliff, Oongka, or Damiane.

What’s the best strategy to use when fighting bosses in Crimson Desert?

Don’t rely on blocks as they quickly drain your stagger bar and stamina, plus some attacks deal damage even when you defend. Learn to parry and dodge. Most bosses are weak to Lariat attacks as it staggers them easily. Monster bosses usually have a weak spot you need to target.
