How Do The Trinkets Work?
The trinkets are a new addition to the AC Black Flag Resynced. The original didn’t have them. Well, sort of. Previously, these perks were tied to outfits that Edward Kenway could wear. This time around, the outfits are purely visual. The perks were moved to the aforementioned trinkets, which opens up a lot of possibilities. Trinkets vary from pretty useless to borderline broken. They can be of different rarities:
- Common
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Epic
- Legendary
Not always is the higher-rarity trinket better than the lower one. There are lots of decent Rare and even Common trinkets that I’d prefer over other Legendaries any day. Considering that you can’t really make builds in this remake cause it’s not an RPG like AC Shadows or Valhalla, perks here are just quality-of-life features that can sometimes be combined for slightly different gameplay, but nothing too groundbreaking. At least that’s what I’ve discovered for now. There are 12 trinkets I wanna tell you about, and of course, this article will be updated once I find more of them that I deem good.
Top Trinkets of AC Black Flag Resynced

Fair warning: some of these trinkets are only available through purchasing them from the in-game store. I know, classical Ubi. The rest of them can be found in the open world, and I’ll try to provide the locations for you to navigate more easily. Not all of them will be available at the very location I’m showing cause some of them are random drops. You mostly get the trinkets from:
- Chests
- Anomaly Events
- Quest Rewards
- Vendors
If you want to get crazy good trinkets, I really recommend you upgrade your vendors in the hideout cause their stock becomes increasingly better the more you invest in them. You can even get legendary trinkets there. Now let’s move on to the trinkets.
Abyssal Pendant

I’ll start with my favorite trinket on this list. The Abyssal Pendant restores some health every time you kill an enemy, and you know how strong the vampiric effects are in any game. It’s the low-maintenance trinket that somewhat dumbs down an already simple gameplay. In long fights, it can save a decent amount of medicine and keep you alive without forcing you to stop and heal. For now, I consider the Abyssal Pendant the best overall trinket in AC Black Flag Resynced, even if it's boring. Gotta give credit where credit’s due. The downside is that it’s a paid trinket that you can only get from the in-game store.
Narwhal's Horn

Narwhal's Horn makes your attacks break enemy defenses faster. Considering how much the new combat system revolves around breaking Defense before a Takedown, this perk is much better than its Rare quality suggests. This is one of the best trinkets, and the fact you can get it easily puts it above several Legendary trinkets for me. It pairs really well with any of the strongest weapons from the game. I’d say this is the best pure combat trinket I’ve found so far. Abyssal Pendant is better for survival and learning the ropes, while Narwhal's Horn is perfect for an aggressive player. I found it inside a chest on Cat Island at around (706,664).
Wooden Eyeball

Wooden Eyeball lets Quick shooting kill Brutes instantly. Though it may sound like a rare occasion, it’s not. Brutes are among the most annoying enemies in the game, and you face them pretty regularly. Instead of breaking through their Defense and fighting them normally, you can pull out a pistol and free them from the mortal coil immediately. Then again, keeping it on you at all times is kind of a waste of a slot, but when you hit the wall or face multiple Brutes, it’s just too good. I found it at a vendor in hideout for 12,000 Reales.
Fortunate Circle Charm

Fortunate Circle Charm makes Edward immune to attacks for a short time after a Perfect Dodge. This is one of the strongest defensive trinkets, but only if you regularly land Perfect Dodges. If your timing is bad, the perk might as well not exist. The window after a perfect dodge is big enough and works like hyperarmor in fighting games. You also don’t lose your health, which is just bonkers. I still prefer Abyssal Pendant because healing from kills is much better as a defensive trinket, but this one’s up there. Fortunate Circle Charm is skill-dependent, but also AC is quite an easy game, so you can learn to do it in one or two fights.
Lodestone

My favorite convenience trinket. Lodestone automatically loots nearby Corpses and Curios. It does absolutely nothing in combat, but I frequently find myself bearing it equipped at all times, even though it’s sub-optimal for fights. Black Flag is chock-full of random things to pick up. Walking back to everybody after the fight is super annoying, especially when you’re clearing large outposts. Lodestone removes that annoyance completely. It doesn’t make you stronger, but it saves time if you’re a lazy person like me. I bought mine for just 7,000 Reales.
Shark Teeth

Another convenience trinket, but this time fight-oriented. Shark Teeth prevent Brutes from stopping Chain Takedowns. On paper, this sounds like one of the best trinkets in the game. You start a takedown chain, move through the group, and Brutes can no longer ruin it. But that’s not that big of a problem in reality. I think players will praise it, but for me it’s a bit overrated. Compare that to Narwhal's Horn, which helps you every time you attack an enemy who defends. Shark Teeth is still very strong, especially if you use Chain Takedowns constantly. It’s just for the price of 25,000 Reales, I can find better options.
Lock of Hair

Lock of Hair restores some health after a Perfect Parry. It’s basically a more demanding version of the Abyssal Pendant, but free. Both give you healing during combat, but the Abyssal Pendant is easier to trigger. If you’re good at Perfect Parries, you might find this trinket much more potent than Abyssal. I got mine from the Eye in the Dark Anomaly at around (855,439), but I’m not sure that you’ll find it there, and there’s a high chance it’s a random drop.
Templar Cross

Templar Cross reduces damage from enemy melee attacks, and it reduces it by a lot, which makes it really strong. For me personally, though, it’s dumb. So for the trinket to work, you need to take damage? This just makes it absolutely useless for a skilled player, and considering that it is only available if you get Templar Keys, it’s kind of an underwhelming reward. I don’t think it’s the strongest defensive trinket. Abyssal Pendant heals you, Fortunate Circle Charm can prevent damage completely, and Lock of Hair transfers perfect parries into healing. Templar Cross leaves more room for a mistake, but AC Black Flag Resynced’s combat is slow enough for you to react and avoid all damage completely. You can find it behind closed doors inside the Manor after progressing through the Templar Hunt.
Brass Bird Trinket

Brass Bird shortens the Rope Dart cooldown. How good that is depends almost entirely on how often you use Rope Darts. I use them quite a lot, so the shorter cooldown is nice. If you wanna cosplay Scorpion from the Mortal Kombat series, there’s no other trinket like that. The downside is that Brass Bird comes from the Master Assassin Character Pack, so you can’t just find it somewhere in the open world.
Demon-forged Pendant

Comes from one of the cringiest paid sets of the game. Demon-forged Pendant makes Berserk darts set enemies on fire. It sounds strong, but I think this is another trinket people might overrate because the effect looks cooler than it actually is. Don’t take it the wrong way, it is good. It unlocks a new tactical lair for the otherwise decent tool. It’s very useful to start chaos on the battlefield during stealth missions. It’s definitely not a general trinket you’ll be wearing all the time. Still, watching a Berserk enemy run around on fire and cause a complete disaster is hard to argue with.
Gold Earring

Quite a nice trinket for one goal - boarding and plundering ships. Gold Earring reduces the Wanted Level gained from acts of piracy. For long naval trips, it can save some hassle. That makes it a good trinket to swap in before you start attacking ships. It’s kind of hard to remember, and I usually forget to do that until it’s too late. I like what Resynced did with trinkets cause now I just need to change a trinket instead of a full outfit to get the effect that I want. Adds more strategic depth. I bought the Gold Earring for 12,000 Reales.
Exotic Sea Shells

Good trinket for hunting. Exotic Sea Shells increases the amount of wildlife products you get from skinning animals. Equip it when you need animal materials to deal with grinding faster. Once you have upgraded your gadgets with these materials, the trinket becomes obsolete. That doesn’t make it bad, but it does lower its efficiency. I found it around coordinates (213,568).
Which Black Flag Resynced Trinket Should You Use?
I don’t think there’s one trinket set that will work for the whole game. Of course, you may set some general trinkets that will work throughout the whole playthrough, but I think you’re stripping yourself of this extra tactical layer. Some perks are much better when you’re fighting, while others are only useful during certain gameplay segments. Here’s what I’d use for each activity:

If you just want to equip trinkets and forget about them for the rest of the game, go with Abyssal Pendant and Narwhal’s Horn or Fortunate Circle Charm. If you’re not planning to buy sets for a single-player game, Lock of Hair and Narwhal’s Horn are the best. These two sets are the most useful combinations I’ve found for normal gameplay. Lodestone is the odd one out. It has no combat value whatsoever, but I still recommend trying it out. Chances are, it won’t leave your trinket set til the credits. Automatic looting is just too good imo.
