What’s Different About Artifact Weapons in Legion Remix

We’ll go over a lot of things, but before we do, here’s the summary of how Legion Remix Artifact weapons are implemented in the Legion Remix event:

  1. Obtaining weapons – there’s a whole quest chain that leads you to obtaining the weapon and also teaches you how to use currencies to upgrade it. Subsequent timerunning characters can skip this tutorial chain of quests to receive the weapon right away.
  2. Streamlined talents – unlike in the original Legion, all weapons now have the same talent tree that branches out into five paths that have their own abilities and talents.
  3. New currency to level up weapons – instead of relics, you’ll be using a currency called Artifactium Sand to rank up Artifact weapons
  4. New currency to unlock talents – besides bronze, you’ll also be getting Infinite Power, which is used to unlock talents.

These are just the broad strokes of how the Artifact Weapon system is different from the original. Now, we’ll get into more details about each of these changes.

How to Get the Artifact Weapon in Legion Remix

You will get your Artifact weapon at the very start of your journey across the Remix version of Legion, so that both you and your weapon can be leveled up. You can get weapons for your other specializations, but that will take time.

Since Artifact weapons are specialization-specific, you need to make sure you have the one you want the weapon for activated at the time of receiving the weapon. Now, how to get Artifact weapons in Legion Remix? There’s a chain of twelve quests that serve as a prelude to Legion and a tutorial on using the weapons.

It all starts with the conversation with Moratari, after which you’ll be sent to Dalaran and start your adventure there.

The fifth quest, called “Something Borrowed”, is when you get your weapon along with its first of many abilities, “Remix Time”, which speeds up all of your cooldowns by 1000% for 3 seconds. Which means any abilities on cooldown you have are going to become active again almost instantly.

After that point, the questline continues to introduce you to every core system of Legion Remix — from scrapping gear and earning Bronze and Infinite Power, to learning how to add traits to your weapon. The chain ends once you reach the Infinite Bazaar, the central hub of the Infinite Dragonflight, and complete the quest “A Fixed Point in Time.”

Once this introduction is done, you’ll be contacted by an NPC from your Order Hall, where your main Legion campaign begins. From there, you’ll unlock additional Artifact weapons for your other specializations as you progress through your class storyline.

If you’ve already completed this introduction once, future Timerunner characters can skip it entirely. When you first arrive in Dalaran, speak to Moratari and select:

“Haven’t we done this before? <Skip this chapter and receive your Artifact weapon.>”

Doing so instantly grants you the Artifact Weapon for your current specialization and jumps you straight into your Order Hall introduction quest. Just make sure you’re in the right spec before claiming it — the weapon you receive will match your active one, and unlocking weapons for your other specs will still require story progression.

Leveling Up Your Artifact Weapon

In the original Legion expansion, Artifact weapons were upgraded by finding Relics and socketing them directly into your weapon. Each relic increased its item level and sometimes boosted specific traits tied to your specialization. It was a slow but satisfying process that made every drop matter.

That system has been replaced with a much simpler and more universal method. Instead of hunting for relics, Legion Remix Artifact weapon leveling works through using two new consumable currencies: Artifactium Sand and Mound of Artifactium Sand.

Both items serve the same purpose — you consume them to increase the item level of your Artifact weapons. Once used, they automatically apply their power to all Artifact weapons your class can equip, not just the one you’re currently holding. You don’t need to visit a vendor or perform any ritual; simply click the sand in your inventory, and your weapon’s item level will rise instantly.

Here’s what each one does:

Currency Description How It Works Stack Limit Flavor Text
Artifactium Sand A fine, glowing sand that channels the essence of infinite potential Use to increase the item level of all your Artifact weapons. Stops dropping once the maximum possible item level is reached. 1000 “Untapped power courses through you as the sand sifts through your fingers.”
Mound of Artifactium Sand A heavier, condensed form of Artifactium that holds even greater energy. Functions identically to Artifactium Sand. Consuming it also boosts the item level of all Artifact weapons. 1000 “Your mind races with images of yourself wielding untold power as the sand stirs in your hand.”

Both versions drop from any content in Legion Remix — whether you’re clearing dungeons, completing world quests, looting treasure chests, or raiding. Their drop rate scales naturally with the difficulty and level of the activity.

The process continues automatically until your weapon reaches the maximum possible item level for your current progression. Once you hit that cap, Artifactium Sand will stop dropping, signaling that you’ve reached the peak for this phase of your Remix journey.

Legion Remix Artifact Weapon Talent Tree

In Legion Remix, every Artifact Weapon uses a shared talent tree instead of the 36 specialization-specific trees from the original expansion. This new design keeps progression clear and consistent across all classes, while still letting you customize your weapon’s power through five distinct ability paths.

The tree is divided into three major parts:

  1. Initial Traits – Basic passive boosts to your primary stats, stamina, and speed.
  2. Artifact Ability Trees – Five unique ability paths that each unlock a powerful active skill and several supporting talents.
  3. Endless Trait – A final infinitely repeatable trait that keeps scaling your stats throughout the event.

Each Artifact starts with several minor traits that increase base performance:

After unlocking these, you’ll gain access to one of five Artifact Abilities, each leading to its own themed branch of Legion Remix Artifact weapon talents.

Ability Path Theme Example Ability Playstyle
Nature Wild magic and restorative power Call of the Forest Summons a stampede of forest spirits that buff allies and immobilize enemies.
Fel Chaos and demonic energy Twisted Crusade Summons a subjugated infernal dreadlord that rains chaos meteors.
Arcane Precision and control Naran’s Everdisc Throws a ricocheting energy disc that can be caught and re-cast.
Storm Elemental fury Tempest Wrath Unleashes a violent storm that grows stronger with each enemy struck.
Holy Light and purification Vindicator’s Judgment Becomes Lightforged, smiting enemies and healing allies within a radiant beam.

Each path includes three major talents and a final capstone ability, separated by smaller nodes that enhance your overall stats. Once you’ve completed your chosen path by unlocking all Legion Remix Artifact weapon abilities, you unlock Limits Unbound, the infinite trait that lets you keep scaling power indefinitely.

Unlocking Artifact Talents in Legion Remix

Once you’ve got your Artifact Weapon, you’ll start unlocking its talents using several new currencies exclusive to Legion Remix. The main one is Infinite Power, which fuels your weapon’s progression. Two other currencies — Fragmented Memento of Epoch Challenges and Infinite Knowledge — help you earn it faster and push your build further.

Infinite Power

Infinite Power replaces the old Legion system of Artifact Power. It’s a Legion Remix weapon upgrade currency used to activate traits on your Artifact Weapon’s talent tree and also passively boosts your Primary Stat and Stamina. You’ll gain more Infinite Power as your character levels up and takes on tougher content.

You can earn Infinite Power through nearly every activity in Legion Remix:

You can always check how much you’ve earned by hovering over the Infinite Power buff on your buff bar — it tracks your cumulative stat gains.

How To Farm Infinite Power

Fragmented Memento of Epoch Challenges are a special reward found in Legion Remix’s toughest content. You’ll start seeing them once you move into Heroic World Tier and higher, as they drop from elite and rare enemies, raid bosses, and Mythic+ dungeon chests. Each fragment holds a small portion of Infinite Power, and once you collect a hundred of them, you can combine the stack into a powerful token that grants a large boost to your Artifact Weapon’s progress. BLOG20

The more challenging the activity, the more fragments you’ll earn — normal raids give only a few, while Mythic raids and higher-tier dungeons can drop dozens at once. These fragments are one of the most reliable ways to advance your Artifact Talent Tree and strengthen your weapon throughout the Remix event.

Infinite Knowledge

Infinite Knowledge is a long-term progression system that amplifies the amount of Infinite Power you gain from all sources. It’s also account-wide, which makes it essential for speeding up alt characters.

You can earn up to 36 ranks of Infinite Knowledge, with any extra progress converting into Bronze once you hit the cap. Ranks are unlocked by completing achievements that cover every part of Legion Remix: zones, dungeons, raids, and world events.

As your Infinite Knowledge grows, every drop of Infinite Power becomes more potent — making your Artifact Weapon’s growth much faster across your entire account.

Conclusion

Artifact weapons are definitely one of the highlights of the Remix event. Unlike some other systems that have been cut out completely, all weapons are present, along with the ability to unlock alternative color variations for them. As for the streamlined talent trees, it’s neither good nor bad. The way you unlock talents is different, but you still get a lot of customization despite them being the same for all weapons.

Hopefully, with this guide, you will now be able to enjoy and upgrade the weapons for your class/spec. Good luck!
