If you’ve never participated in this event, here you’ll learn what makes it unique compared to other seasonal in-game events. Plus, we’ll go over this year’s rewards and updates to the event formula. So, without further ado, let’s get started.

Before we get to the Guardian Games schedule and other details, why not refresh the memory on what this event is and what it means for the game? Unlike other seasonal events that are tied to real-world celebrations such as Halloween or Christmas, Guardian Games is an original event.

The Guardian Games in Destiny 2 is an annual event that runs for three weeks. It is a competition between the three classes of Guardians: mighty Titans, cunning Warlocks, and unyielding Hunters. The objective is to earn points by completing various activities such as Strikes, Crucible matches, and Gambit matches. According to the Guardian Games mechanics and rules, the class with the most points at the end of the event will be declared the victorious, and the shiny golden statue of that class will stand in the Tower for other classes to gush about. The event also offers exclusive rewards such as emblems, shaders, and exotic ornaments.

Guardian Games 2025 Details

If you’re trying to memorize when is Guardian Games 2025 is, mark March in your calendars. Each year, the first week of March is dedicated to this event. However, the dates often shift based on various circumstances. So, let’s answer the most important questions here: BLOG20

• When does Guardian Games start 2025? The answer is March 11th.
• When does Guardian Games end? The answer is April 1st.

Every player can participate in this event. You don’t have to own any expansions or have a high Power level. All you need to do is go visit the Tower and talk to good ol’ Eva Levante. You might know her as the event coordinator.

As mentioned before, three classes compete in earning score points. 

New Activity: Rushdown

For Guardian Games 2025, Bungie has introduced Rushdown, a new boss rush mode. In this activity, players battle against bosses from past Destiny 2 campaigns, Exotic missions, and seasonal content. The more bosses defeated, the harder the fights become. Rushdown features a time limit that extends with each successful completion.

Rushdown has three difficulty levels:

1. Warm-up – Entry-level difficulty, ideal for casual play.
2. Standard – Increased challenge, includes revive tokens.
3. Expert – The hardest mode, featuring strong enemies, modifiers, and chances for fully Masterworked Guardian Games weapons.

Players can matchmake through standard, class-based, or private fireteams. Performance in Rushdown determines the quality of rewards, including Guardian Games weapon drops with additional perks for high scores.

The road to the highest score is divided into thresholds that can be considered as personal milestones. Upon reaching such a threshold, you will be able to unlock one of the rewards at the Tower Podium by igniting the fires behind it. When you submit your score to the Podium, you will also receive the game’s glow effect. Your Guardian Games class item will change its color as well based on what place your class has earned. In recognition of your active involvement in the Guardian Games All-Stars, you'll have the opportunity to acquire distinctive glows and the associated boasting privileges. These accolades are tied to both your individual accomplishments and collaborative feats, totaling five in number:

1. Achievement of the title "Tower's Finest Guardian."
2. Bragging rights as a member of the prevailing class for the day.
3. Attainment of a shoulder glow is contingent on your weekly achievements in Rushdown.
4. Earning a second shoulder glow for your weekly accomplishments in Supremacy and Gambit.
5. Additionally, a shoulder glow is awarded based on performance in Rushdown and Supremacy/Gambit, as well as a ‘Tower’s Finest’ glow for the best individual performance of the day

If your class happens to have the highest average score among all other players in the Tower, you’ll receive a special glow that will show everyone that you’re the record holder. This effect will persist until the next weekly reset.

Each Friday, there’s a Coronation Ceremony where the leading class earns the golden crown effect and exclusive glows for their armor. Guardian Games 2025 also introduces a laurel-shaped class glow (bronze, silver, or gold) that changes based on overall class performance throughout the event.

Medallions are the event’s currency. These are tokens that you can insert into the Tower’s Podium to get your loot. Guardian Games 2025 introduces a new Diamond Medallion tier, earned only once per week, making high-level performance even more rewarding:

• Gold Medallions received for completing - Neomuna Contender Cards
• Platinum Medallions received for completing - Vanguard Playlist, Crucible, Gambit, and Seasonal Content.
• Diamond Medallions - a new type introduced exclusively for this year. There can only be earned 3 of them, one per week of the event. They will be granted for completing PvP and PvE game modes.

There are two types of Cards, each of which contains a challenge that usually prompts players to complete various in-game activities:

Generally speaking, Contender Cards represent more accessible challenges, while Platinum ones represent more competitive and endgame activities.

Guardian Games Event Quests and Focus Activity

As if this wasn’t enough, the two vendors in the Tower - the mighty Vanguard leader Zavaala and relentless Lord Shaxx, the manager of the Crucible will have a few special requests.

Drop-In Quest:

• Reward: get to keep the Allstar Vector after the event ends

Shoot to Score Quest:

• Objective: Accumulate medals and points in Rushdown.
• Details: Zavala now oversees this quest, which challenges Guardians to defeat bosses in Rushdown, earn high scores, and push for better clear times. The activity scales in difficulty, with the Expert mode offering the best rewards.
• Rewards: Completion unlocks up to four chests, with rewards and materials scaling based on the achieved tier (bronze to platinum). Higher scores increase chances of receiving extra perks on Guardian Games weapon drops.

Vying for Supremacy Quest:

• Objective: Earn high scores in Supremacy PvP and Gambit.
• Details: This quest focuses on Supremacy and Gambit, with players earning points by collecting crests in Supremacy or banking motes in Gambit. Performance is based on match wins, kill streaks, and objective completions.
• Rewards: Completing objectives unlocks up to four chests, with higher-tier scores rewarding extra Guardian Games gear and materials.

Regardless of the chosen quest, matchmaking options are available. Nightfalls offer regular, same-class only, or no matchmaking. Supremacy features matchmaking with all classes or one class-only type, while Gambit exclusively employs class vs. class competition as per Drifter's directive.

Guardian Games 2025 Rewards

There are new and returning rewards from the past year. The Guardian Games weapons list now consists of:

1. Keraunios: A brand-new Arc Trace Rifle with an Adaptive Frame, featuring perks like Jolting Feedback, Rolling Storm, and Recycled Energy to enhance Arc synergy.
2. Hullabaloo: An Arc-based Heavy Grenade Launcher featuring the Compressed Wave Frame, with updated perks like Voltshot, Chain Reaction, and Rolling Storm.
3. Taraxippos: A returning Strand Lightweight Scout Rifle with new perks, including Precision Instrument, Hatchling, and Explosive Payload.
4. Title: A Void-based Aggressive Frame SMG with refreshed perks such as Repulsor Brace, Destabilizing Rounds, and Rangefinder.
5. Fizzled Games Memento: returning from last year, this event-exclusive Memento can drop from Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Medallions. A guaranteed drop from Diamond Medallions, it adds a unique Guardian Games-themed weapon ornament effect.

Among other new Guardian Games rewards, this year, players will be able to earn an exclusive Skimmer called the Allstar Vector. Skimmers are a brand-new alternative to Sparrows; they are vehicular means of transportation, and it will share the same slot as your regular Sparrow.
