Arlecchino’s Background

Arlecchino, also known as "The Knave," is the latest character in Genshin Impact, added on April 24, 2024. She is obtainable through the Event Wish called The Hearth's Ashen Shadow.

As the Fourth of the Fatui Harbingers, she embodies a poised yet ruthless diplomat known to the children of the House of the Hearth as their revered yet feared "Father."

Despite her association with the Fatui, Arlecchino's loyalty to the Tsaritsa is questionable. Unlike her peers, she appears to have her own agenda, working towards her goals by acquiring the Gnoses on behalf of the Tsaritsa. While she handles Fatui matters with grace and cordiality, there's a suggestion that she puts on an act, hiding her true motives beneath a facade of loyalty.

Arlecchino's origins add layers to her enigmatic persona. Despite claiming to be a Fontanian, she actually hails from Khaenri'ah, preferring to mislead others about her background. Interestingly, she shows a soft spot for children, considering the members of the House of the Hearth as her own "children" and fiercely protecting their well-being.

Her appearance reflects her complex nature, with black eyes bearing red "X"-shaped pupils and hair styled in a black-and-white layered fashion. Her outfit, adorned with symbols of the Fatui, adds to her mysterious allure.

Arlecchino's character stories delve deeper into her psyche, revealing her past as Peruere and her transformation into the Harbinger she is now. From her struggles with her unique powers to her complex relationship with her predecessor, Crucabena, each story adds depth to her character. BLOG20

Despite her association with power and manipulation, Arlecchino's possession of a Vision serves as a symbol of defiance against fate. It represents her rebellion against the constraints imposed upon her, empowering her to shape her own destiny.

Arlecchino Abilities and Talents

Arlecchino is a five-star pyro polearm DPS. The passive Genshin Arlecchino Talent is very important for her kit, so let’s start with that.

The Balemoon Alone May Know While in combat, Arlecchino gains a 40% Pyro DMG Bonus and can only be healed through Balemoon Rising.

This passive replaces the usual exploration-related passive. The unique property that makes any source of healing useless has significant implications for her gameplay and teams.  The only way she can heal is through her elemental burst called Balemoon Rising.

Strength Alone Can Defend Arlecchino gains 1% All Elemental and Physical RES for every 100 ATK she has in excess of 1000. The maximum RES increase she can gain this way for each is 20%.

This passive damage reduction helps balance out the fact that you can’t use any form of healing. Although dodging and shields are something you will still have to rely on heavily, despite this passive. It won’t solve all of your problems on its own.

Now, let’s move on to her abilities:

All Is Ash – a dash towards an enemy followed by a cleave attack that deals Pyro damage and applies a Blood Debt Directive Mark for 30 seconds. Every 5 seconds, this mark deals low Pyro damage, which can trigger twice. The dash also has a considerable range, which is helpful for closing the gap versus enemies if you use her charged attack, then that will absorb any marks present, each granting her the bond of life worth 65% of her Max HP; however, you may not want or need to absorb it right away because of her Ascension passive.

After 5 seconds, the Blood Debt Directive Mark becomes Blood Debt Due, which now grants a bond of life worth 130% max HP or doubles the original value. Upgrading it with Genshin Arlecchino materials makes this effect even better.

So, the marks are important. First, you apply marks, and then you can claim them by hitting marked enemies with a charged attack. Doing so will give you Bonds of Life, which increase your Max HP and make your attacks deal extra Pyro Damage. You could also wait for 5 seconds so that the Mark becomes more potent and gives you double the amount of bonuses. The Bonds of Life decrease passively, which means that over time, you’ll deal less damage as the Pyro-enhanced attacks become less potent. The more enemies you mark, the less need there is to wait for the marks to upgrade to Blood Debt due to the cap of 140% of Max HP that can be added.

Balemoon Rising –  Arlecchino's fiery wings beat with the power of Balemoon Bloodfire. When she absorbs and clears Blood-Debt Directives, she releases a burst of Pyro energy. This not only resets her All Is Ash ability but also heals her. The amount of healing depends on her Bond of Life strength and her attack power.

While this ability can deal a decent amount of damage, you should use it primarily for healing yourself, like a panic button.

Rotations and How To Play

Alright, let's simplify Arlecchino's playstyle and rotations:

Arlecchino's main strength lies in her pyro-infused normal attacks, which scale with her Bond of Life. Here's a breakdown of her rotation:

  • Start by using her Elemental Skill to mark enemies. Then, wait for the mark to evolve before clearing it to gain Bond of Life.
  • Swap to support characters to set up buffs, then switch back to Arlecchino and use a charged attack to consume the mark and gain Bond of Life.
  • Spam normal attacks for damage. This is your standard rotation.

As for her Burst, it's not always necessary for optimal DPS. You may only need it for healing or as a panic button. Here are three scenarios for using her Burst:

  • Ideal situation: Use Burst after normal attacking to heal and reset skill cooldown. Then, swap to supports and restart rotation.
  • Burst in rotation: Use Burst when the skill cooldown resets to gain energy particles and heal. Then, swap to supports and restart rotation.
  • Emergency healing: Use Burst whenever low on HP, then swap to supports and restart rotation.

It's worth noting that using Burst clears Bond of Life, so sometimes it's better to keep excess Bond of Life for the next rotation instead of using Burst unnecessarily. Overall, her normal attack combos are flexible, so focus on normal attacking and don't worry too much about specific combos.

Standard Rotation:

  1. Use All Is Ash
  2. Wait for 5 seconds (swap to support characters)
  3. Charged Attack
  4. Spam Normal Attack
  5. Use All Is Ash again to repeat the combo

When the healing is required, use the following rotation:

  1. Use All Is Ash
  2. Wait for 5 seconds (swap to support characters)
  3. Charged Attack
  4. Spam Normal Attack
  5. Elemental Burst

Now, let’s talk about the best Artifacts to use to get the best value out of Arlecchino.

Arlecchino Best Artifacts

Arlecchino comes with a new set called Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy:

  • 2-Piece set: ATK +18%
  • 4-Piece set: When the value of a Bond of Life increases or decreases, this character deals 18% increased DMG for 6s. Max 3 stacks.

This set enhances all aspects of her kit, particularly as her Bond of Life fluctuates, which is common during her gameplay. With its substantial damage bonus and attack increase, it's the top pick for Arlene in most scenarios, typically outperforming other options by around 10%.

However, acquiring this set might not be immediate for everyone, so here are some alternatives to consider. The Gladiator's Finale set:

  • 2-Piece set: ATK +18%
  • 4-Piece set: If the wielder of this artifact uses a Sword, Claymore or Polearm, increases their Normal Attack DMG by 35%

While not as potent as her signature set, it's a reliable alternative, especially suited for a normal attacking polearm character like Arlecchino. Other alternatives include Gilded Dreams:

  • 2-Piece set: increases Elemental Mastery by 80
  • 4-Piece set:  within 8s of triggering an Elemental Reaction, the character equipping this will obtain buffs based on the Elemental Type of the other party members. ATK is increased by 14% for each party member whose Elemental Type is the same as the equipping character, and Elemental mastery is increased by 50 for every party member with a different Elemental Type. Each of the aforementioned buffs will count up to 3 characters. This effect can be triggered once every 8s.

The Lavawalker artifact set gives you the following:

  • 2-Piece set: Pyro RES increased by 40%
  • 4-Piece set: Increases DMG against opponents affected by Pyro by 35%.

When you couple this with upgraded Genshin Arlecchino Constellation passives, you’re going to get a very strong DPS character. BLOG20

Arlecchino Best Artifact Stats

As a standard Pyro DPS character, she is going to want the same stats as a lot of other characters with the same role:

  • Crit Rate: Increasing Arlene's critical hit chance is crucial for maximizing her damage output, allowing for more consistent high-damage hits.
  • Crit Damage: Boosting Arlene's critical hit damage amplifies the effectiveness of her critical hits, resulting in significant damage spikes when they occur.
  • Attack Percent: Enhancing Arlene's base attack stat with percentage increases ensures her normal attacks and elemental skill hit harder, contributing to overall DPS.
  • Pyro Damage Bonus (Goblet): This stat specifically amplifies Arlene's Pyro damage, which constitutes a significant portion of her kit. Prioritize this stat on the goblet artifact for maximum damage potential.
  • Elemental Mastery: While primarily beneficial for reaction-based teams (such as vaporize or melt), Elemental Mastery can still be useful for Arlene, especially in situations where she frequently triggers reactions. Aim for around 100 to 200 Elemental Mastery for efficiency.
  • Energy Recharge: Although not a priority, some energy recharge can be beneficial for ensuring Arlene's burst is available when needed for healing. However, due to her burst's utility nature and frequent availability in optimal team compositions, excessive focus on energy recharge is unnecessary.

Regarding artifact main stats:

Sands Typically, prioritize Attack Percent as the main stat, providing a general boost to Arlene's damage output. However, Elemental Mastery may be viable in reaction-focused teams.
Goblet Opt for Pyro Damage Bonus to maximize Arlene's Pyro damage output. Consider Attack Percent if already receiving significant damage bonuses from other sources.
Circlet Choose between Crit Rate or Crit Damage based on whichever stat you need more of to balance Arlene's crit stats. Both are essential for maintaining high damage potential.

Obviously there are a lot more options than that, and you can experiment with artifacts and their stats as you see fit. What we described here is what most players use.

Arlecchino Best Weapons

While many weapons suit various strategies, those providing Elemental Mastery excel in reaction-based teams like vaporize but are less effective in mono-Pyro setups.

Starting with signature Genshin Arlecchino weapon, the Crimson Moon's Semblance, it's the top choice overall. A high base attack of 674 and a substantial 22% crit rate also increases Bond of Life by 25% of max HP and provides additional damage bonuses based on Bond of Life, up to 36%. While versatile, it's less flexible than other signature weapons, but its unique effects make it exceptional for Arlecchino's play style.

Other top options include the Jade Spear, Staff of Homa, and Staff of Homa.

Now, onto other weapons suitable for Arlecchino. The Jade Spear is a comparable choice, offering attack and damage percentage increases. The staff of Homa provides crit damage instead of crit rate, making it effective for high-damage bursts. The staff of Homa performs exceptionally well in vaporize teams due to its crit rate and Elemental Mastery conversion to attack.

Other five-star options like Calamity Queller and Vortex Vanquisher are viable but less optimal.

Regarding four-star and free-to-play options, the Battle Pass weapons, Deathmatch, and The Catch offer significant crit rate boosts.

Dragon's Bane is suitable for vaporize-teams, while the Lithic Spear synergizes with Geo characters like Ningguang or Zhongli. For free-to-play options, White Tassel and Blackcliff Pole offer decent crit rate and damage bonuses.

Weapon choice significantly impacts Arlecchino's damage output, with five-star options like her signature weapon providing substantial upgrades. However, free-to-play options like White Tassel or Blackcliff Pole remain viable choices, especially when considering team compositions and synergies.

Arlecchino's Best Character Comps

In this section, we’ll cover the best character options for your Genshin Arlecchino team, explaining which of them synergise the best with Arlecchino. She actually has some strong synergies with some unexpected characters.

Bennett

Bennett shines in Arlecchino teams due to his exceptional support capabilities. While his healing may not directly benefit Arlecchino, his ability to provide a significant attack buff makes him invaluable. This attack boost synergizes well with Arlecchino's damage output, enhancing her effectiveness in combat. Additionally, Bennett's burst provides other beneficial effects like Pyro resonance, Noblesse Oblige set bonuses, and a substantial attack bonus, further amplifying Arlecchino's damage potential. Overall, Bennett's versatility and ability to enhance Arlecchino's performance make him an excellent choice for Arlecchino teams.

Chevreuse

Despite her healing being less impactful for Arlecchino, Chevreuse offers valuable buffs and resistance reduction that greatly benefit the team. Her ability to decrease Pyro and Electro resistance by up to 40% is particularly significant, enhancing the overall damage output of Arlecchino and other Pyro or Electro characters on the team. Additionally, Chevreuse' C6 provides additional Pyro and Electro damage bonuses to the entire team, further boosting Arlecchino's effectiveness. While her healing may not be fully utilized, Chevreuse' utility as a buffer and resistance reducer makes her a valuable addition to Arlecchino teams.

Zhongli

Zhongli's role as a shielder complements Arlecchino's team composition by providing both protection and enemy resistance reduction. His shields not only safeguard the team from damage but also reduce enemy resistance, allowing Arlecchino and other damage dealers to deal more damage. Additionally, Zhongli's Geo element provides elemental resonance bonuses that further enhance the team's effectiveness. While other shielders can fulfill a similar role, Zhongli's combination of shielding and resistance reduction makes him a premier choice for Arlecchino teams. BLOG20

Xingqiu

Xingqiu's Hydro element makes him an excellent support choice for Arlecchino in Vaporize teams. His ability to quickly apply Hydro status allows Arlecchino to trigger Vaporize reactions, significantly increasing her damage output. Additionally, Xingqiu's Elemental Burst provides continuous Hydro application and damage reduction, further enhancing Arlecchino's survivability in combat. While maintaining the Vaporize reaction, Xingqiu's support capabilities contribute to Arlecchino's overall effectiveness, making him a valuable addition to her team.

Fischl

As an Electro character, Fischl brings valuable Electro application to Arlecchino's team, enabling Overload reactions with characters like Chevreuse. Her consistent Electro damage and the ability to apply Electro status to enemies complement Arlecchino's Pyro attacks, allowing for efficient elemental reactions. Additionally, Fischl's versatility as both a damage dealer and support character adds flexibility to Arlecchino teams, making her a strong choice for maximizing damage output.

Kazuha

Kazuha's Anemo element provides crowd control and elemental infusion capabilities, making him a versatile addition to Arlecchino teams. By infusing Pyro attacks with Anemo, Kazuha enables Swirl reactions, further enhancing Arlecchino's damage potential. Additionally, Kazuha's ability to group enemies and reduce their resistance amplifies the effectiveness of Arlecchino's attacks. While not a traditional support choice, Kazuha's elemental synergy and crowd-control abilities make him a valuable asset to Arlecchino teams.

Thoma

Thoma's Pyro element and defensive utility make him a solid choice for Arlecchino teams, particularly in Mono-Pyro compositions. His ability to provide shields and damage reduction benefits Arlecchino's survivability in combat, allowing her to maintain offensive pressure. Additionally, Thoma's burst ability enhances the team's damage output while providing further protection through damage reduction. While not as commonly used as other support characters, Thoma's defensive capabilities make him a viable option for Arlecchino teams focused on sustainability and damage mitigation.

Conclusion

Arlecchino is an interesting Pyro DPS character that can mark enemies and then reclaiming those marks for excellent bonuses. She might seem like an overly complicated character at first glance, but her gameplay is actually not that complex. Just keep in mind that the only method of healing is her ultimate ability, so don’t just use it to deal damage, its not what its for.

In this guide we’ve covered the best artifacts, weapons, including the free-to-play ones and some of the characters you might want to add to your team. There are actually many different team setups you can run with. Vaporize teams that include Hydro supports, the overload teams, etc. You can even run the mono-pyro teams, which would still be very viable.

We hope that you found this guide helpful. Good luck out there, Traveler!
