In this First Descendant tier list, we’re going to rank all currently available Descendants so that you can keep up to date on the current meta and remain competitive throughout various updates and balance changes in the game.

How Our First Descendant Tier List Works

For this First Descendant best Descendants tier list, we’re using a classic ranking system with tiers. Since every Descendant is just a part of what makes a build, we’re going to be looking at their base abilities and how much build potential each of them has. All characters in the game fall into one of the roles:

1. DPS, Utility DD, Close-Range DD, DoT DD, Nuker, Constant DPS, Burst DPS
2. Tank, Bruiser
3. Debuffer
4. Support

Since there are only a handful of Descendants in each role, it is too early to make separate role-centric tier lists. Besides, every character has its own unique way of fulfilling the role through their abilities and skills.

Furthermore, we’re not going to be including Ultimate Descendants, which are basically just improved versions of the original characters. Needless to say, if you have what it takes to get the Ultimate version of the character, you should go for it because it would be a solid upgrade. With that being said, let’s have a look at our tiers and explain what each of them means:

• S Tier: The most overpowered Descendants who deal massive damage and are easy to use without any additional modifications.
• A Tier: Solid Descendants with lots of build potential. Suppose you find the right synergies with unique weapons, modules, etc.
• B Tier: Good Descendants that have their uses but depend on the team and build synergy. They require thoughtful build planning and lots of grind to make them really good.
• C Tier: Descendants that could use some updates from the developers because their toolkit is weaker compared to other characters.
• D Tier: This tier is for characters that need some serious changes or complete reworks because they don’t have anything to offer or they do the same things that other characters do but less effectively.

With tiers clearly defined, it’s time to find the best Descendants in First Descendant. Just remember that the game will be receiving regular updates, so if you don’t see your favorite character in S Tier, it doesn’t mean that it won’t change in the future.

What is the Best Descendant in The First Descendant?

Bunny is often mentioned as the First Descendant meta both in beta versions of the game and after release. She has the kind of toolkit of abilities that are both easy to use and deal lots of damage to multiple enemies. Even the developers themselves often highlight her out of the entire roster of characters when speaking about damage dealers. Bunny abilities include:

Passive Skill

• Rabbit Foot – Charges Electricity when moving. Inflicts damage to nearby enemies when landing after a Double Jump.

Active Skills

• Thrill Bomb – Summons an Electro Orb to attack nearby enemies and inflict them with an Electrocute effect.
• Light Speeding – Sprint Speed increases significantly and acquires more Electricity.
• Lightning Emission – Moving around deals damage to nearby enemies and inflicts them with an Electrocute effect.
• Maximum Power – Shoots out electricity forward to inflict damage. Damage increases in proportion to skill duration.

These skills allow her to zip–zap around the battlefield, quickly electrifying her enemies to death. A great, unique weapon that combines well with her toolkit is Thunder Cage. In Albion, Bunny grew up an orphan after her parents disappeared when she was six, leaving her with her grandmother. Her unresolved pain drove her to become Albion's Greatest Troublemaker, stealing weapons to support her grandmother. During a heist, Bunny's latent electrical powers awakened, preventing a grenade explosion but leaving her paralyzed. The military offered her a chance to become a Descendant, forgiving her past in exchange for her service. Bunny accepted, aiming to support her grandmother and uncover the fate of her parents.

S Tier

Descendants: Bunny, Ajax, Freyna

• Bunny

A dealer of continuous damage who sprints while discharging electricity. The more she runs, the greater the electrical energy she accumulates, allowing her to release this energy in a powerful shockwave.

Known for her high mobility and ability to deal massive electric damage to large groups quickly. She is one of the best First Descendants in the game. Bunny is effective without needing significant modifications.

• Ajax

A tank that utilizes Void Energy to boost his attacks. He leads the team with a Forcefield that protects allies while deflecting enemy attacks.

Ajax is one of the First Descendant meta Descendants. As a tank with strong defensive capabilities and the ability to enhance allies' damage, Ajax is crucial in most team compositions.

• Freyna

A continuous damage dealer who freely manipulates Venom. Utilizes the venomous substances produced by her body to trap enemies in swamps of toxins.

Specializes in poison damage over time, making her extremely powerful in sustained fights. Her passive increases her overall damage, making her very effective.

A Tier

Descendants: Jayber, Blair, Gley

• Jayber

A utility-type DPS who uses turrets. Summons turrets to Attack and heal. When the turrets are enhanced by multi-purpose guns, he can fight more efficiently.

While not in the current First Descendant meta, Jayber is a versatile character who can summon turrets for both healing and damage. His flexibility makes him a solid choice, especially with the right build.

• Blair

A chef who deals continuous damage and manipulates fire. Gains energy by adjusting firepower. The hot dishes he throws trap the enemies eternally in a flame zone.

His fire-based damage over time abilities and critical damage enhancements make him a strong contender when synergized with the right weapons and modules​ ​.

• Gley

A dealer who becomes stronger the more she gnaws on herself. Unleashes the rage inside her to quickly subdue her enemies.

Able to switch between dealing damage and healing, Gley is valuable for her versatility. With the right setup, she can be very effective in various roles​​.

B Tier

Descendants: Lepic, Valby, Kyle, Sharen

• Lepic

A damage dealer who uses grenades to attack. Clears the battlefield with his Tactical Prosthetic Arm and grenades that deal huge explosive AoE damage.

He is good for clearing mobs with his grenade-based attacks, but he can be outclassed by other DPS characters, depending on the situation.

• Valby

A dealer of persistent damage who moves around freely through her Water Arche. A terrifying torrent to her enemies, she's always a refreshing ocean wave to her teammates.

Her water-based AoE attacks and debuffs are useful, but she requires careful positioning and synergy with other elements to be most effective.

• Kyle

A damage-dealing tank that generates and manipulates magnetic fields. He creates a barrier or radiates magnetic force to push enemies back and serve as a strong shield for his teammates.

As a tank with magnetic abilities, he provides utility and defense but may not be as impactful as Ajax in all scenarios.

• Sharen

An assassin-type melee dealer with Electric Arche. Using camouflage, she can close the distance to her enemies whenever she desires and ambush enemies anytime, anywhere.

High-damage assassin with stealth abilities, but her effectiveness is heavily reliant on the right build and timing.

C Tier

Descendants: Viessa, Luna

• Luna

A brand-new support Descendant who has plenty of buffs to support her allies. So far, she lacks damage output, meaning Luna always relies on her team to stay alive.

• Viessa

A debuffer who uses Chill to freeze enemies in place, unleashing Cold Snap-like attacks as she weaves her way between them.

Specializes in crowd control with freezing and slowing abilities. While useful, her damage output is lower than others, placing her in a weaker tier.

D Tier

Descendants: Esiemo, Enzo, Yujin

• Esiemo

A Burst DPS who handles explosives. Attaches bombs to enemies and detonates them at the right opportunity.

As a burst DPS focusing on explosives, his toolkit might need significant improvements to compete with other DPS characters effectively.

• Enzo

A supporter who uses supply drones. Commands the battlefield by supplying ammo to allies while launching long-range attacks with drones at the same time.

Unreliable AI of drones can be unpredictable, which can lead to serious issues in endgame activities.

• Yujin

A healer supporter who uses his select drones to heal allies. He heals allies and grants them beneficial buffs after determining the distance between the allies and him.

Same problem as with Enzo, the drones pathing may be broken sometimes and it can be difficult to manage the drones when you have to pick the right ally for the drone in the middle of a battle.

Conclusion

There are 14 characters in the game and 5 Ultimate versions with more on the way. So far, all Descendants fall into one of three default MMO roles – a damage dealer, a tank, and a support. There are definitely some variations and unique spins on these roles, but overall, the common character tropes are preserved in this game for the sake of balanced gameplay. Among these 14 characters, some definitely stand out.
