What can be more satisfying than defeating a powerful raid boss or clearing a dungeon? Well, beating down other players can compete with that. Welcome to our comprehensive WoW SoD Blood Moon Event guide, one of the latest PvP activities added with Phase 2. It received positive feedback and the devs decided to keep working on it. So, we can enjoy it once more within Phase 3 and get a chance to claim new rewards.

If we compare Blood Moon SoD 2024 to Phase 1’s Battle for Ashenvale event, we do not have any PvE content this time. The only goal here is to survive. This mode kind of reminds battle royale, as it is free-for-all. To put in other words, you can attack and kill everyone you encounter. Just be careful and do not get yourself killed. Otherwise, you risk losing everything you have gathered. But we will get to this topic further in the article.

Within the pages of our WoW SoD Blood Moon guide, we will share what this activity is about. We will also go over possible rewards you can get. Also, you will learn about the event’s location, mechanics, and so much more. If you are a big fan of PvP, this activity should not be neglected!

Before we get deeper into the topic, spare us one more moment here. At SkyCoach, you can Buy Blood Moon Event Boost and get the desired amount of Silver Massacre Coins. They are used to buy event-specific gear, including PvP sets. Our PROs will gladly take care of farming this currency for you. We guarantee the best market price and the fastest results!

What is Blood Moon Event in WoW SoD

First of all, let’s find out what is Blood Moon event WoW SoD and what its purpose is. Speaking of the latter, you can enjoy fun PvP encounters while also earning unique rewards. The main idea of this activity is that you should have no other players to rely on. A member of any faction can attack everyone while this event is active.

How does this happen, and where? Well, Stranglethorn Vale is the only Blood Moon location where you can take part in this event. Once the activity starts, you will notice a red fog covering the entire zone. During this time, you can attack everyone you can see. Trust us, you want to start attacking first, or you will get slain in a moment.

Upon killing another player, you earn the Blood for the Blood Loa buff. The maximum number you can collect it to is limited to 255 stacks. If you die, you will lose a percentage-based amount of this buff/currency, too. So, it is in your best interest to stay alive as long as possible while slaying others.

During the event, you will also find WoW SoD Blood Moon altars scattered around the map. This is the place where you can exchange this buff to obtain the event-specific currencies, such as:

  1. Copper Massacre Coin
  2. Silver Massacre Coin
  3. Gold Massacre Coin

These WoW SoD Blood Moon altar locations are marked by red flags on your map. Beware when making your way there, as other players will try to stop you. To learn about the exchange rates, keep reading further.

You get the exact same number of Copper Massacre Coins for your Blood for the Blood Loa buff. Then, you need to collect x100 Copper Massacre Coin to exchange it for x1 Silver Blood Coin. Finally, you need x 100 Silver Blood Coin to trade them for x1 Gold Blood Coin. The latter is used to purchase event-specific mounts we will talk about further in the article.

In case you die, you get the Drained of Blood debuff. It makes you temporarily immune to incoming attacks. However, you will not be able to cast spells or attack as well. Though, you still can mount up and move around the area. The debuff stops working after 20 seconds, and you are back into battle again!

Speaking of WoW SoD Blood Moon strategy, there is none! You will have to fight everyone who stands in your way. Even the Booty Bay guards and Flight Masters become hostile for the event’s duration. So, if you happen to be inside this area, you cannot escape it until everything is over. BLOG20

Blood Moon Event Timer

The WoW SoD Blood Moon timer is tied to server time. You can take part in this activity every three hours. It lasts for 30 minutes and you get a notification when it starts. The first battle happens at 12:00 AM server time with other Blood Moon times being the following:

  • 3:00 AM
  • 6:00 AM
  • 9:00 AM
  • 12:00 PM
  • 3:00 PM
  • 6:00 PM
  • 9:00 PM

Then, everything starts again when the clock strikes midnight server time. Now that you know the exact hours when the activity begins, you can prepare for it thoroughly.

How to Participate in Blood Moon

Unlike is the case with other events, you do not need to do anything particular to participate in Blood Moon. The activity begins automatically every 3 hours. Check out the schedule table we have shared above to be fully prepared for it. Once it is active, you have 30 minutes to beat down everyone you see in your way and earn as many Blood for the Blood Loa pieces.

The only thing you need to watch out for is to be in the required zone when everything starts. As we have already mentioned, you will see a red fog. This is a good indicator that you are standing in the right area.

How to Opt Out of Blood Moon

In case you do not like PvP, you might wonder how to opt out of the Blood Moon event. This can be done if you speak to a Zandalarian Emissary. After speaking to this NPC, you will gain the Zandalari Ward buff. It protects you from being attacked by the members of your own faction. However, players from the opposite faction will be able to attack you as usual.

For your convenience, we have compiled a table containing all Zandalarian Emissary locations:

Neutral Located outside the inn within Booty Bay at coordinates (27.3, 77.1).

Seek out Exhal on Yojamba Isle to receive the buff, situated at coordinates (15.2, 15.6).
Horde Positioned near the entrance to the zone from Duskwood at coordinates (39.4, 5.4).
Situated just outside the entrance to the zone within Duskwood at coordinates (49, 85.3).

Follow the exact coordinates we have provided for every location and you will them in no time. All Zandalarian Emissaries have a glowing drop of blood over their heads. This feature makes them even easier to recognize among other NPCs.

Who is Kha’damu in Blood Moon

When wandering around Stranglethorn Vale during the event, you can encounter Kha’damu. Like everyone else, this is a hostile NPC. Do not let him get too close to you, or you may be one-shotted. If you get killed by him, you will experience the WoW SoD Blood Moon Bruised debuff. But who is Kha’damu in Blood Moon, and what is his purpose? Depending on how close you are to Kha’damu, you get one of the two buffs from the list:

These buffs let you earn more Blood for the Blood Loa upon slaying other players. This makes fighting around this NPC quite risky yet extremely rewarding. If you manage to find a perfect balance, you have a chance to earn tons of currency once the event is over. BLOG20
