To obtain the Catalyst for the Duality Shotgun you need to complete the special Banshee-44 quest. After the catalyst is obtained you need to masterwork the catalyst to use it (if you don’t want to spend your time on catalyst masterworking then select the “Catalyst Masterwork” extra option). This catalyst upgrades the Duality Shotgun to a 2.0 Version increasing its range and magazine size, making it a lot easier to use this weapon.
