You have bravely fought off the spread of a maddening sickness that turned Sanctuary’s natives into savage beasts that would kill their own with no remorse. Then you stopped the invasion of ancient vampires who tried to gain control of the realm when it was left most vulnerable. Now, new evil lurks in the underground vaults built by a mad architect who once created constructs to serve the fine people of the realm. As it often happens with creations in Sanctuary, the forces of hell have captured and misused what was once meant to do good.

What is known about the new adventure is that it will introduce you to the creations of Zoltun Kulle who once worked in the vaults underneath Kehjistan. He managed to create an incredible technology called the Loom as well as an army of mechanical constructs that were meant to advance the quality of life of all people. However, Malphas, a servant of Diablo himself has captured all of the workings of Kulle and turned them into machines of torment for personal amusement. When Does Diablo 4 Season 3 Come Out?

If you’ve missed the official announcement, the Diablo 4 update release date for Season 3 is set for January 23 at 10 a.m. PST. In terms of a general overview of that update, you can expect to see the following content:

  • New story - continuation of the seasonal story that, this time, starts in Kehjistan. You will see you fight mechanical creations in the vaults built by someone called Zoltun Kulle.
  • Seasonal mechanic - Seneschal Companion is in the center of the season. It is a mechanical companion that can be upgraded and used in battle for either damaging enemies or providing support to your character.
  • A new type of dungeons - the season will take you through a series of new dungeons called the Vaults which is where you will be finding upgrades for your companion.
  • New world event - Arcane Tremors is a new random event that will appear in different parts of the map. It is similar to last season’s vampire hunt, but the tremors come with seasonal enemies and challenges.
  • Leaderboards - this is a new way for players to compete in World Tier 4 where there’ll be a dungeon with set enemies.
  • Battle Pass - new seasonal battle pass that comes with thematic rewards

There’s a lot to do when the Diablo 4 patch notes 1.3.9 finally arrives. We’re going to go over everything in more detail further down below.

With the new changes in Diablo 4 and the seasonal mechanic, you get an ai-controlled pet that can be customized to your liking in terms of abilities and effects. On top of it all, the new type of enemies comes infused with different elements that will make you adapt your build to counter their effects. The new enemies are mechanical constructs that will appear in the vaults and in the new public seasonal event.

D4 Season of The Construct Story

Your new journey begins with a visit to Ayuzhan of Caldeum, a former ally and friend of Zoltun Kulle. Ayuzhan will need your help to set free from the captivity. He will tell you of an ancient evil that now resides within the walls of this once technological marvel and creates its own version of Hell. But who is that Kulle character? BLOG20

  • A Promising Horadrim: Initially, Kulle was a gifted sorcerer of the Horadrim, the order dedicated to stopping the Prime Evils like Diablo. He fought alongside notable figures like Deckard Cain.
  • Seduced by Power: However, Kulle harbors a deep desire for immortality, which leads him down a dark path. He discovered secrets of the Prime Evils that tempted him with immense power.
  • Turning Tyrant: Kulle's obsession corrupted him, turning him against the Horadrim. He unleashed chaos and sought to rewrite Sanctuary's fate under his own twisted vision.

So, Kulle is a powerful enigma, a constant reminder of the corruption that lurks within even the best intentions, and a potential force to be reckoned with in the ongoing battle against the darkness. Keep your eyes peeled for Season 3, as Kulle's story might take another unexpected turn!

And of that ancient evil? Malphas isn't just any demon; he's a high-ranking servant of the Prime Evil himself, Diablo. In demonology lore, he's described as a powerful Great President of Hell, commanding 40 legions of demons.

Malphas has taken up residence in the Loom, an ancient technology created by Zoltun Kulle. He's twisted this technology to create an army of corrupted Constructs, mechanical monstrosities originally designed to aid humanity. His goal? To unleash his hellish horde upon Sanctuary and claim dominion for Diablo.

Unlike previous Diablo bosses, Malphas won't be mobile. He'll be a stationary boss, throwing traps and hazards at players from the center of the arena. This new mechanic presents a fresh challenge, forcing players to adapt their strategies and navigate the battlefield strategically.

While Malphas' role in Season 3 is clear, much of his backstory and motivations remain shrouded in mystery. Leaks and hints suggest possible connections to Zoltun Kulle, but the developers haven't officially confirmed anything yet.

The main hub, so to speak, where all the action will take place is called the Gatehall and it is a hidden city buried under the sands of Kehjistan. This is the place where the Loom was invented. Many wanderers have tried to explore the Gatehall but only a few returned alive. Those who managed to escape it were never the same. You will venture there to investigate a lead that hints at the existence of a system of hidden vaults. All of this is to find The Loom which was built by two mages to shape the elements and make tools to serve humanity.

This will be your hub location with access to different Vaults - new dungeons with a big focus on traps. When visiting these vaults you will be faced with many different defense mechanisms that will work against you. So, not only will you be fighting the demons but at the same time avoiding those deadly traps.

Diablo 4 Seneschal Companion Explained

The main highlight of the Diablo 4 update notes for Season 3 is the new AI companion that will join you after completing one of the seasonal story quests. This spider-looking mechanism is part of the so-called constructs that were built by Zoltun Kulle and Ayuzhan of Caldeum to protect and maintain the Loom and Gatehall. Malphas has seized control over most of the constructs who now are the core of his personal army.

As the main protagonist, you will come across a broken Senechal construct, which is a special construct that was built to command lesser contracts and relay the will of the creators. Ayuzhan will repair this broken construct and it will follow your orders.

Diablo 4 new patch update has gameplay benefits to it. Your companion will grow in strength just like your main character. The construct has many abilities and uses that will complement the player's build. It can:

  1. Deal damage
  2. Crowd-control monsters
  3. Provide direct healing
  4. Provide damage bonus
  5. etc

Magical stones are how you will customize your construct and decide its use. These are primarily found in the Vaults. There are also two types of these stones:

  • Governing Stones - represent core construct abilities.
  • Tuning Stones - a singular modification for any number of Governing Stones.

Below you will find two tables, one per each type of Magical stone that describe each stone in great detail:

Governing Stone Description
Autodefense Activates an antimaterial field, shooting down enemy projectiles (excluding Boss or Player projectiles).
Bushwhack Quickly ambushes, dealing damage to each target. May strike the same target multiple times.
Firefly Deploys a small construct that lands on the target and explodes 3 times, dealing damage.
Focus Fire Channels a ray of fire onto targets, dealing damage over time.
Gyrate Whirls its legs around quickly, dealing damage to all surrounding enemies.
Impale Performs a line attack to all enemies in front, dealing damage.
Lightning Bolt Launches a bolt of Lightning at the target, arcing to other targets and dealing damage.
Protect Materializes a protective Barrier on the player for a portion of their Maximum Life.
Reconstruct Channels a reconstruction beam, healing the player for a portion of their Maximum Life over time.
Slash Pummels enemies in front, dealing damage.
Tempest Electrically charges an enemy, causing damage over time. Spreads to additional enemies if the target is killed, gaining additional time and bonus damage.
Flash of Adrenaline Administers a quick flash of adrenaline to the player, granting bonus damage for a duration.

As you will progress through the season and your construct becomes more powerful, you will be adding more stones and improving them. Some of them will deal AoE damage or buff your character in some way. There’s one where the construct creates a barrier that shoots down all incoming projectiles.

When you use combinations of stones, you will be able to turn even the simplest of skills into something really complex and fun! These stones are found in the Vaults and this is what we’ll talk about next.

Diablo 4 Season 3 Vaults and Rewards

Another part of the Diablo 4 update January 23 is the new dungeon type. Vaults are seasonal dungeons filled with traps to the brim. They are the main source of Magic stones that are used to upgrade your Senechal construct. Here are a few main features about them:

  • Background Story - Because Ayuzhan was nowhere to be seen, Malhas claimed the vaults and the power of the Loom for himself. So now all of the traps in these vaults are targeted at you instead of the demonic invasion.
  • Constructs and Traps - besides the elemental traps, you will face many types of mechanical constructs, that have attunement to one of the elements.
  • Zoltun’s Warding - To enter the Vault, use Pearls of Warding and receive Zoltun’s Warding blessing. Zoltun’s Warding diminishes if you die to traps; intact Warding unlocks a Wardwoven Chest after defeating the Vault Boss.
  • Rewards and Risk - Wardwoven Chest has a higher chance of Legendary items. Using Pearls of Warding at the Vault entrance increases the risk but also the potential reward.
  • Nightmare Vaults (World Tier III) - Nightmare Vaults unlock at World Tier III. Vault Sigils drop or can be crafted with Pearls of Warding. Similar to Nightmare Dungeons, Nightmare Vaults feature deadly Constructs, Hazards, and Wardwoven Chests.

There are many new traps such as spinning pillars that spit out fire beams, and hazardous floor tiles. All of this will make you stay on your toes while you make your way to the final encounter. The final encounter is a gauntlet with waves of enemies and a powerful elite. Defeating the elite disables the traps and unlocks a path to the treasure room.

Diablo 4 New World Event

The Arcane Tremors is the new seasonal activity that was described in the official Diablo 4 patch notes January 23.

These malevolent constructs not only make their presence felt within the confines of the seasonal dungeons known as Vaults but also wreak havoc in the expansive open-world events known as Arcane Tremors. Described as dynamic seasonal occurrences scattered across the vast landscape of Sanctuary, these tremors bring forth subterranean constructs that surface to terrorize the realms above. Players are tasked with impeding the relentless spread of Arcane Tremors by engaging in activities such as dismantling traps, confronting both Lesser and Elite Constructs, and earning valuable Shattered Stone in the process. The defeat of Elite Constructs yields Pearls of Warding, a coveted resource used for crafting Vault Sigils or augmenting the rewards within the Vaults. The culmination of this event involves vanquishing the formidable Herald Construct, ensuring peace and safety for the denizens above ground. Notably, unlike the time-limited events of Season 2, Arcane Tremors in Season 3 adopt a more traditional overworld format, encouraging continuous player engagement throughout the entire season.

Diablo 4 Gauntlet and Leaderboards

In Season of the Construct, Diablo 4 introduces a captivating new feature, the Gauntlet, a weekly Challenge Dungeon designed to test the mastery and skill of players. Accessible from World Tier 4 onwards, the Gauntlet is a fixed-seed, non-linear dungeon where players compete for top positions on the Leaderboards. These Leaderboards, categorized by playstyles such as Solo Class, Party, Normal, and Hardcore, showcase the top 1000 players in each ladder, with weekly resets.
