Best Hunter Build Components

This meta Hunter Prismatic build Destiny 2 is easy to make but pretty hard to get its best version. We’ll start with everything that makes this build and explain each choice. First, we’re going to talk about the Prismatic Super and its abilities.

Super

Silence and Squall – lets you silence, slow, and freeze targets, which is the kind of effect that we’ll need for this build to work. You’ll see why when we get to explaining the fragments.

Abilities

  1. Gambler’s Dodge - if you dodge near an enemy, you will recharge your melee ability
  2. Triple Jump – the jump ability is optional, but the third jump is super easy to use, especially when you’re raiding and running through some jumping puzzles.
  3. Combination Blow - this is one of the most important components of this build. When defeating targets with this ability, it also fully refills your class ability energy and restores a small amount of health.
  4. Grapple - not only is this one of the best ways to get around but killing an enemy with the grapple melee activates all of the exotic class item effects and combos of this build.

Aspects

  • Stylish Executioner - since our build applies multiple elemental effects, going invisible after a melee kill is super helpful for staying alive when surrounded by a bunch of enemies. BLOG20
  • Winter’s Shroud - another debuff that slows down your enemies when you dodge.

Fragments

  1. Facet of Protection - needed for extra survivability.
  2. Facet of Courage - so that your Arc, Solar, and Void deal increased damage to targets inflicted with Darkness debuff. Slow and Freeze are both darkness debuffs, which is why we’ve picked Silence and Squall and Arc’s melee.
  3. Facet of Ruin - when you explode frozen targets, it deals more AoE damage. The same goes for Solar ignitions (comes from exotic class items)
  4. Facet of Blessing - for health regeneration on melee kills
  5. Facet of Purpose - gives you a bunch of buffs when you pick up an Orb of Power.

So, if you’re still not clear about what is the best Hunter Prismatic build in Destiny 2 and what it does, here’s a brief explanation. Essentially, this build is about infinite melee and dodges.

While this isn’t the best Hunter Prismatic PvP build Destiny 2, in PvE, this build is a beast! Gambler’s Dodge and Combination Blow recharge each other. Dodge, when performed while surrounded by enemies, applies a bunch of effects - you go invisible, slow down enemies, etc. All of this makes you safe to use your melee. The Arc melee is something else. With this set of fragments, you’ll be dealing extra damage, enabling health regeneration and exploding your targets! Want to know how? This next section will explain it.

Best Hunter Exotic Armor in Destiny 2

There’s one exotic that brings all of these elements together and makes this entire best Hunter Prismatic PvE build Destiny 2 work – the Hunger’s Exotic cape - Relativism. Now, you need a specific roll with two armor:

  1. Spirit of the Liar - allows you to use a counterattack Arc melee that is much more powerful than a regular melee attack. With this combination of subclass fragments, aspects, and abilities, these counterattacks will decimate and one-shot any enemy except bosses (of course).
  2. Spirit of Caliban - when your melee triggers an ignition, the Facet of Ruin Fragment adds the AoE effect, which will explode the enemies around you!

With these two perks, you’re not just using a melee-focused build anymore. You’re now a walking bomb. Because counterpunches from the Spirit of the Liar count as powered melee attacks, both perks make this build absolutely broken in terms of DPS. So, in case you were looking for an unorthodox Hunter Prismatic DPS build Destiny 2, this is it!

Now, all the fragments we’ve chosen should make a bit more sense. Unfortunately, getting the right roll of Relativism can be a little troublesome. If you don’t know how to get the exotic class item, we’ve got an entire guide dedicated to it.

If you’re being unlucky with the rolls of Relativism, you can replace it with the Liar’s Handshake exotic gauntlets. You won’t get the benefit of the second perk that gives you those insane AoE explosions, but since this is one of the top Hunter Prismatic builds Destiny 2, it will still work without them.

Weapons for the Best Hunter Build

While weapons are way less essential for this build, you can already imagine what kind of weapon traits this build will benefit from. So, if you want to go all in, then we recommend a shotgun with the One-Two Punch that gives you even more melee damage, so much so that you can one-shot kill a mini-boss!

For your other weapon, you could go with the Sunshot for add-clearing. Sometimes, getting into a horde of enemies can be difficult when everybody is shooting at you. With Sunshot, you’ll be able to clear a path easily with its explosive rounds. BLOG20

If you want extra mobility, then grab a sword with the Eager Edge trait that gives you increased lunge distance when you switch to it. Otherwise, grab your favorite grenade launcher for even more explosions and add-clearing!

Armor Mods

Disregarding armor mods is a big mistake, but if you’re new to the game, it can be daunting to figure out how to use them and which ones you should equip. For this build, you’ll need these mods (hover over or click on the mods to read what they do):

Armor Mod Energy Cost
Helmet

Hands-On 3/10
Dynamo 3/10
Arms

Impact Induction 2/10
Focusing Strike 2/10
Heavy Handed 3/10
Legs

Kinetic Scavenger 3/10
Absolution 3/10
Recuperation 1/10
Class Item

Reaper 3/10
Bomber 1/10

The last mod for your class item could be a “Special Finisher” that gives you Special ammo on melee kills because sooner or later, you’re going to run out of shotgun ammo, and this is just so that you don’t have to panic when that happens. Otherwise, you could go with any other Armor Charge mod that you like.

Artifact Perks

There are some crucial Artifact perks that you need to get for this build:

  • Radiant Orbs - picking up Orbs of Power will make you radiant.
  • Galvanic Armor - reduces damage when you’re Amplified.
  • Shieldcrush -  when you’re amplified or radiant, your grenade recharges faster.

The rest of the perks can be chosen based on personal preferences; however, these 3 are a must.

Conclusion

The strongest Hunter Prismatic build Destiny 2 is centered around a specific roll of the exotic class item and a few abilities that make the melee ability absolutely broken, dealing over 2000% more damage in the right conditions. Not only does this allow you to clear hordes of lesser enemies in one or two melee strikes, but you’ll actually be able to one-shot kill yellow-bar enemies, aka powerful combatants and mini-bosses.

All you need for this build to work is the Relativism, or at least the Liar’s Handshake exotic gauntlets that give you one of the required exotic perks. Then, you pick a specific combination of abilities and fragments that we specified in our guide, and you’re all set! Additionally, you could grab a shotgun with the One-Two Punch trait and a few good armor mods that make your melee even stronger. Equip all of that, and the build will be complete. Good luck, Hunters!
