The War Within Enchanting Changes
In the last expansion, all professions received massive rework, so this time around, the changes aren’t as substantial. Nevertheless, there are a few cool additions that you should know before we get to the main part of our WoW Enchanting guide.
- This expansion has added new "kiss/curse" enchants for rings, which provide strong positive effects (like increased critical strike) paired with a downside, adding a strategic element to gear customization.
- A new crafting mechanic called Concentration has been introduced, allowing players to craft items at a higher quality than their skill level would normally allow.
- Enchanters can now craft new tools and equipment, such as the Runed Null Stone Rod, as well as item level-enhancing reagents like Enchanted Harbinger Crests, which can increase the power of crafted gear.
- New glamours, such as those that allow players to transform into different races temporarily have also been added. These are categorized under the Ephemerals specialization and were not available in earlier versions of the game.
These additions are here to make Enchanting a little more engaging to use. But if these things don’t make much sense to you, don’t worry – we’ll explain everything in due time. In fact, we’re going to start with something pretty important for any profession - equipment. BLOG20
The War Within Enchanting Equipment
In order to be the master enchanter, you’re going to want to get a hold of a few equipment items that will boost your crafting efficiency. These items usually come in the form of a few accessories and tools. Every profession has these, and WoW the War Within Enchanting is no exception. These pieces of gear need to be equipped on your character whenever you want to use your profession, as they will provide various bonuses such as increased crafting speed, increased profession skill, etc. Here’s a list of the BiS Enchanting equipment.
Type | Item | Source |
---|---|---|
Accessory | Artisan Enchanter's Hat | Tailoring |
Accessory | Enchanter's Crystal | Jewelcrafting |
Tool | Runed Null Stone Rod | Enchanting |
Besides these items which may be difficult to obtain early on, you have a range of less effective, but still useful items. Do keep your eye out on the auction house listings to find the right tools for your trade!
The War Within Enchanting Shopping List
It’s time to talk about Enchanting leveling. The best method to approach profession leveling is to prepare a necessary amount of specific items that you’ll use to use available recipes to gain XP and advance through levels. This is so that you don’t have to waste time crafting one item and then feel the need to go get the resources for the next item. Hence, we advise you to make a list of items you’ll need to craft as many as you need for the sole purpose of gaining XP. Luckily for you, we’re going to include an initial list of resources you’ll need to get started. Here they are:
- 673x Storm Dust
- 23x Leyline Residue
- 22x Viridescent Spores
- 26x Gleaming Shard
- 5x Ringing Deeps Ingot
- 5x Refulgent Crystal
This is going to be enough to get you from level 1 all the way to level 80. The path from 80 to 100 can be tackled in several ways, which we’ll describe later.
Leveling Enchanting in The War Within
If you’ve been playing through the previous expansion, you already know that the biggest challenge about leveling Enchanting in The War Within is not gaining XP; It's distributing Knowledge Points in such a way that makes your leveling more efficient.
The next step would be dividing your 1-100 leveling journey into milestones because there will be moments when you’ll need to make important decisions regarding how to proceed forward. That being said, we’re going to divide Enchanting leveling into three sections:
- Levels 1-25 – pre-specialization, early leveling.
- Levels 25-50 – The second specialization unlock and a more varied leveling path.
- Levels 50-100 – the final stretch.
Last but not least, remember that you can always choose to collect crafting resources on your own. However, it may not be as straightforward as mining ores for blacksmithing. Assuming you have enough gold, it would be much faster to just buy the ingredients. If you don’t have enough, you can always Buy WoW Gold at SkyCoach. This is the fastest and safest service to get in-game currency from a trustworthy provider with years of experience and renown.
Ecnhanting Leveling 1-25
Starting off our WoW the War Within Enchanting leveling guide, here we have our initial stretch. Notice how we’ve gone above level 25 with the Runed Bismuth Rod. That recipe can be used after level 25 and still give you enough XP.
Level Range | Items and Quantities | Ingredients |
1 - 10 | 9x Glimmering Haste | 45x Storm Dust |
10 - 15 | 5x Glimmering Critical Strike | 25x Storm Dust |
15 - 18 | 1x Mirror Powder | 1x Leyline Residue, 3x Storm Dust, 1x Gleaming Shard |
1x Whisper of Armored Avoidance | 10x Storm Dust | |
1x Whisper of Silken Avoidance | 10x Storm Dust | |
18 - 27 | 3x Runed Bismuth Rod | 3x Bismuth Rod, 30x Storm Dust |
Once you hit level 25, you must select your first specialization, and it’s a very important decision. As you level up, you’ll be able to unlock other specializations, but for now, you should go for Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment as the best choice for going through Enchanting 1-100 WoW the War Within. It will be your segway to the second stretch, where you’ll be primarily crafting Gleeful Glamours.
Enchanting Leveling 25-50
As soon as you’ve unlocked that specialization, go ahead and put five Knowledge Points into it and unlock Deceptive Decorations, as this is the best way to level Enchanting WoW. Then, invest five points into that and start making Gleeful Glamours until you can spend five more points on this specialization. Keep crafting Gleeful Glamours until you reach level 50, but don’t max out the sub-specialization, as you won’t get any new recipes from it.
If you want a different approach, craft these:
Level Range | Items and Quantities | Ingredients |
27 - 35 | 8x Glimmering Mastery | 40x Storm Dust |
35 - 40 | 5x Whisper of Armored Speed | 50x Storm Dust |
40 - 52 | 4x Enchanted Spearwood Wand | 20x Storm Dust, 4x Codified Greenwood |
This approach requires some more materials, specifically Codified Greenwood.
Enchanting Leveling 50-100
The final stretch can be devious, as this is where you’ll likely spend the most amount of gold. Firstly, when you’re making weapon enchants at level 70, it may prove too costly. If so, you can skip the weapon enchants and focus on cheaper recipes. You’ll save some gold, but leveling with them will take a bit more time.
Secondly, when going after level 90, the most cost-effective enchant is the Severed one.
Level Range | Items and Quantities | Ingredients |
50 - 56 | 6x Glimmering Versatility | 30x Storm Dust |
56 - 60 | 4x Whisper of Silken Speed | 40x Storm Dust |
60 - 70 | 13x Whisper of Armored Leech | 130x Storm Dust |
70 - 80 | 1x Council's Guile | 1x Ringing Deeps Ingot, 50x Storm Dust, 5x Gleaming Shard, 1x Refulgent Crystal |
1x Oathsworn's Tenacity | 1x Ringing Deeps Ingot, 50x Storm Dust, 5x Gleaming Shard, 1x Refulgent Crystal | |
1x Stonebound Artistry | 1x Ringing Deeps Ingot, 50x Storm Dust, 5x Gleaming Shard, 1x Refulgent Crystal | |
1x Stormrider's Fury | 1x Ringing Deeps Ingot, 50x Storm Dust, 5x Gleaming Shard, 1x Refulgent Crystal | |
80 - 91 | 6x Severed Enchantments (Various) | 6x Vial of Kaheti Oils, 240x Storm Dust, 30x Gleaming Shard |
91 - 100 | 3x Authority of Air | 3x Profaned Tinderbox, 225x Storm Dust, 30x Gleaming Shard, 6x Refulgent Crystal |
3x Authority of Fiery Resolve | 3x Profaned Tinderbox, 225x Storm Dust, 30x Gleaming Shard, 6x Refulgent Crystal | |
3x Authority of Storms | 3x Ringing Deeps Ingot, 15x Bottled Storm, 225x Storm Dust, 30x Gleaming Shard, 6x Refulgent Crystal | |
3x Authority of Radiant Power | 3x Profaned Tinderbox, 225x Storm Dust, 30x Gleaming Shard, 6x Refulgent Crystal | |
3x Authority of the Depths | 3x Vial of Kaheti Oils, 15x Writhing Sample, 225x Storm Dust, 30x Gleaming Shard, 6x Refulgent Crystal |
Finally, to reach level 100, The Authority enchants give 3 skill points each, so crafting three of them is enough to reach level 100. They provide a more efficient way to level compared to other enchants which become less effective in the last few levels.
The War Within Enchanting Specializations
There are four Enchanting specializations the War Within, that you can learn. Each one has a skill tree and can offer you a bunch of perks. Depending on what you will learn first, your leveling experience will be different. On top of that, specializations simply allow you to make more unique stuff depending on what aspect of the profession you like the most.
Supplementary Shattering
The Supplementary Shattering specialization enhances your Enchanting with bonuses in Ingenuity, Multicraft, and Resourcefulness. While it doesn't provide direct skill boosts, it's ideal for refining your overall performance after maxing out your other specializations. When you unlock this specialization, you'll gain the Shatter Essence ability, which temporarily increases your Ingenuity, Multicraft, and Resourcefulness based on how many points you've allocated to it. The central node of this specialization further amplifies these attributes and can fully refund Concentration at maximum investment. Sub-specializations allow you to focus on even higher levels of Ingenuity, Multicraft, or Resourcefulness.
Designated Disenchanter
This specialization is tailored for those who want to excel at disenchanting, particularly with the new quality levels introduced for enchanting materials, similar to herbs and ores. By investing in Designated Disenchanter, you can efficiently gather high-quality (Q3) enchanting materials from disenchanting. This specialization has three sub-specializations, each focusing on improving disenchanting outcomes for Uncommon, Rare, and Epic armor types, respectively. BLOG20
Everlasting Enchantments
Everlasting Enchantments is the specialization where all the new War Within enchants are housed. It covers three primary categories: Earthen Enhancements, Arathor Alterations, and Nerubian Novelties, each offering a variety of enchants for different equipment slots. It can be challenging to navigate due to the profession UI sorting enchants by slot rather than category. This specialization includes recipes that generally fall into:
- Earthen Enhancements: Focused on chest and weapon enchants that boost primary stats or provide various procs.
- Arathor Alterations: Enchants for boots, rings, and weapons that enhance attributes like speed, stamina, and primary stats.
- Nerubian Novelties: Enchants for bracers and cloaks that offer unique benefits like increased avoidance, leech, or other special effects.
Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment
This specialization revolves around crafting temporary illusions, enchanting equipment, reagents, and mana oils. It's particularly useful for those who want to diversify their offerings beyond standard enchants:
- Mana Oils: Enhance your spells with different effects such as crit, haste, nature damage, or healing.
- Equipment: Craft special Enchanting tools like Runed Ironclaw Rod, Runed Null Stone Rod, and the Scepter of Radiant Magics.
- Temporary Illusions: Includes consumables that temporarily change your character's appearance, such as turning you into another race. This category also features shoulder illusions that add aesthetic effects.
- Finishing Reagents: Items like Mirror Powder and Concentration Concentrate to adjust final crafting outcomes, improving Multicraft or reducing Concentration use.
These specializations provide varied paths in Enchanting, allowing you to tailor your approach to suit your goals, whether you're focused on crafting, disenchanting, or creating unique items and illusions.

Making Gold with Enchanting in The War Within
By now, you should have a good idea of what kind of items your profession lets you produce. But you might still wonder how you can make gold from it.
First of all, everybody always needs enchanting items throughout the entire lifespan of an expansion. Plus, your stuff can be sold on a regional auction house, which means more potential buyers.
Another huge advantage is the ability to craft unique cosmetic items. But most commonly, Enchanters are known to create these types of items:
- Enchants: Enchanters create enhancements for various gear and weapons, providing stat boosts. This includes specific enchants for profession tools used by crafters and gatherers, improving their secondary stats and overall efficiency.
- Mana Oils: These provide temporary boosts to damage, healing, or secondary stats, lasting 2 hours each. Mana Oils, like Algari Mana Oil, are expected to be in high demand due to their short duration and frequent need.
- Enchanted Crests: Used to upgrade crafted gear to higher item levels, Enchanted Crests make a return from Dragonflight. They are made through the Crafting Order system, so enchanters primarily earn tips as their main source of income from these items.
- Wands: Enchanters can craft wands for casters as well as specialized tools for other enchanters. This will continue to be a key part of the enchanting profession in The War Within.
