Preparing for the Walkthrough
Before starting the BO6 Zombies The Tomb main quest, here are some loadout recommendations. First, for a weapon, an AR with a drum mag is a great choice because it's useful during the boss fight. For Gobblegums, obviously, things like Perkaholic are recommended, but also, if there's a Wonder Bar, that will let the mystery box spin and guarantee a Wonder Weapon from it. Might get the Ice Staff, which will save you from having to build it in the game, saving a little bit of time. However, this guide assumes there’s no Wonder Bar because not everyone has one. Ether Shroud with the following two augments is highly recommended: Group Shroud, so nearby players are also cloaked when used, and Extra Charge, to increase max charges by one.
Step 1: Open the Portal
After spawning into the game, the first objective of BO6 The Tomb Easter Egg is to get through the first couple of rounds to build up points. This can be done in a few ways. One is using the Rampage Inducer in spawn, which makes zombies run faster and spawn in quicker, but that’s optional. The points earned will be the same either way.
Then, when reaching the first bug round at round five or six, push through that round, then start moving through the map and opening up. A couple of doors need to be opened to reach this area, then interact with the table here to place the amulet from Citadelle des Morts. That opens up a red portal and also causes several purple crystals around the map to spawn on fire. These are used to build the Ice Staff, but there are alternatives to skipping this step.
One option is to keep spinning the mystery box, which might grant the Ice Staff. Another is to use the Wonder Bar Gobblegum, which gives a 50/50 chance of getting the Ice Staff on this map. So, either get it out of the box or follow the upcoming steps to craft it. BLOG20
Step 2: Building the Staff
Since the entire Black Ops 6 Zombies guide for this map can be broken down into only 4 steps, the whole thing is doable solo. With that said, the first part is easy because it's a guaranteed drop from a Shock Mimic that spawns on round eight. Get to the round, kill the mimic, and pick up the drop. The second and third parts come from pieces of art called "Constellations" for this step.
The purple crystals that spawned have about 15 total locations around the map. Some are down by Quick Revive, others near Speed Cola, and some near Stamin-Up. However, there’s one group of four crystal spawns near the Hunter picture, which is the main focus, and the same process applies to the Bull picture.
At the Hunter picture, the goal is to get the crystal to spawn right next to the Hunter. If it's not already there, that means it's in one of three other spots nearby. Wherever it is, destroy it, wait 45 seconds, and it will respawn. Keep destroying it in the other locations until it spawns by the Hunter. If it's not working after 10 tries, try shooting some further away.
Once the crystal is in the correct spot, new symbols will appear on the Hunter. Now, do the same thing with the Bull. There are four spawn locations here as well, with one being the correct one right in front of the Bull picture. Destroy the crystal in the incorrect spots and keep repeating the process until it spawns closest to the Bull.
With the crystals in the right places and the Monocle obtained, lights will start appearing on the Hunter and Bull pictures. These lights need to be shot in a specific order. If there are fewer than 10 symbols on the Hunter picture or fewer than eight on the Bull picture, that’s a visual bug. Shoot a random symbol to reset it.
The shooting order is an alternate way of writing a Roman numeral. Shoot them exactly in the order shown here. The same order applies to both the Hunter and Bull, except the Hunter one goes up by two extra numbers.
Doing this starts a lockdown where four waves of zombies and special enemies must be fought off. Each wave has a purple ball moving to each of the four crystal spawns in the constellation zone. Once all waves are beaten inside that lockdown area, a Staff part is rewarded. This must be done on both the Hunter and Bull sides.
With both parts obtained and the Monocle in the inventory, enter the Dark Aether via the previously opened portal. Interact with a broken wall in the center to start a sequence that builds the staff. Defend it from zombies for 60 seconds, then pick it up once it's done.
Step 2: Upgrading the Staff
The next step is upgrading the Staff. This begins in the underground area, where three crystals must be shot in quick succession with the Staff. Instead of exploding, they will freeze over. This must be done within 10 seconds, so it has to be fast.
A good strategy is to position the crystals close to each other by shooting them with a bullet weapon, forcing them to respawn in different spots after 45 seconds. Once three are close together, quickly shoot them in succession with the Staff to freeze them. A quote will play if successful.
Some pro tips: Use Tribologist on PhD or Hot Foot for a speed boost. In co-op, two Staffs can be present, so one player can shoot one crystal while another player shoots the other two.
Once the quote plays, re-enter the Dark Aether and shoot three symbols on floating rocks. They can be shot in any order, but their locations are randomized. They will always be on nearby rocks rather than far ones in the skybox. Walk around, check every side of the rocks, and shoot the glowing purple symbols with the Ice Staff.
Shooting each symbol lowers the rock toward the ground. After shooting all three, you will hear another lore piece from Archibald, and one of the four portals inside the Dark Aether closes. On the other side of that portal will be a set of runes that need to be examined.
Exit via a different portal and memorize the symbols from the rocks. Once back in the underground, go to the corresponding closed door:
- The Blue portal is near the spawn point BLOG20
- The Red portal is near Quick Revive
- The Yellow portal is near Stamin-Up
- The Green portal is near Speed Cola.
At the closed door, shoot only the three matching symbols from the Dark Aether rocks out of the eight displayed on the door. Doing this opens the door. Only shooting them with the staff works.
Going through it leads to a high platform with a purple ball. Interact with it to start an escort sequence. Follow the ball closely, killing zombies to charge it up. Failing to do this will cause the ball to float away, requiring the next round to retry.
At the end of the escort, an Amalgam will spawn. Defeat it to power up the ball, which will fly into the broken wall interacted with earlier. Go to the wall, interact with it, and upgrade the Staff.
Step 3: The Four Challenges
The next set of steps involves dark energy challenges, starting with activating the Staff’s alt-fire called the Sekhmet’s Vigor. Four trials must be completed, each involving interacting with the statues, fighting enemies, and returning dark energy to the Aether.
You’ll find vermin statues inside Dark Aether, each with corresponding color. Start with the blue one, shoot it using the Staff’s Sekhmet’s Vigor mode, and it will spawn an energy orb. Pick it up, and then exit the Dark Aether through the corresponding blue door.
In the spawn area, you will find another vermin statue that is now glowing. Place the orb there, and it will start a sequence where you need to survive long enough by killing the crawling bastards. Once you’ve killed enough, the challenge will be considered completed. You’ll need to pick the orb back up, take it back to into the Dark Aether, and place it on that same statue where you picked it up the first time. At this point, the blue portal will not be available, so you’ll need to use any other portal to get back.
Do the same for the yellow statue in the Dark Aether and repeat the steps. In this challenge, flying parasites will be infused with energy. Kill them and pick up their pieces of energy, then stash them into the statue. Once the challenge is complete, return the orb back to its original statue in the Dark Aether by going through one of the available portals.
For the third challenge, do the green one, the statue of the double-headed monster. Leave the place through the Green portal door. This challenge will spawn lots of zombies and a few Doppelghast monsters, as well as some purple lasers on the floor that damage you if you step on them. Just defeat all enemies and bring the orb back to its statue.
The statue with the red crystal on it will be your last challenge, where you will fight the shielded Unipaak monster. This shield will be connected to a random zombie, and if you kill that zombie, the shield will disappear. Defeat Unipaak and return the orb back to its original place.
Once all four trials are complete, four purple beams will fire from the crystal above, signaling that the Sentinel Artifact door can be accessed. This leads directly to the boss fight.
Step 4: Sentinel Artifact Boss Fight
The boss fight against the Sentinel Artifact is the final step of the BO6 The Tomb walkthrough. To prepare, here are the things to get before the boss fight:
- Tier 3 Pack-a-Punch Weapon
- Gold Rarity Armor
- Useful Gobblegums:
- Shields Up
- Perkaholic
- Idol Eyes
- Ether Shroud with Group Shroud (Highly Recommended)
- Recommended Weapons:
- XM4
- GPMG
- Ammo types to have:
- Lightning ammo BLOG20
- Deadwire for solo
Explosive damage is not very effective in this boss fight, so don’t bother getting it.
It is a multi-phase battle that requires precise coordination, awareness, and heavy DPS output. Each phase presents new challenges, with increasing numbers of Sentinel Artifacts and additional enemy spawns. The key to success is managing damage output efficiently, dodging the artifact’s attacks, and focusing fire at the right moments.
Phase 1: Surviving the First Wave
The fight begins when you interact with the Sentinel Artifact and vote to start the encounter. Initially, the artifact enters the Orange Phase, firing a continuous laser beam that stuns and deals heavy damage if you get caught in it. This beam moves between the upper and lower levels of the arena, meaning you need to stay high when the artifact is low and vice versa.
After a few cycles, the artifact enters Ghostly Purple Mode, which signals the damage phase. This is the window where you and your team need to focus all DPS on the artifact. Having Ether Shroud, especially Group Shroud in co-op, is highly beneficial as it allows you to safely pour damage into the artifact. If executed correctly, you should be able to shave off 10% of the boss’s total health before it returns to Orange Phase.
Phase 2: Dual Artifacts
After the first artifact is destroyed, two Sentinel Artifacts spawn, each firing their own laser beams. At this point, movement and positioning become even more critical. You’ll need to avoid both beams while waiting for one of the artifacts to turn Purple, signaling the next damage phase.
Coordinating with teammates is crucial here. Ping one artifact and focus all DPS on it. Destroying a single artifact reduces the boss’s health by another 10%, progressing the fight. If you’re playing solo and react fast enough, you may be able to destroy multiple artifacts at once, effectively skipping phases.
Phase 3 and 4: Increasing Artifact Count
The next two waves introduce three and then four Sentinel Artifacts, each maintaining the same laser beam attack pattern. The strategy remains consistent—dodge lasers, wait for an artifact to turn Purple, and then focus damage. Movement and awareness become even more crucial as the battlefield gets more crowded.
At this stage, players should prioritize resource management. Use Ether Shroud conservatively, as the later phases introduce more dangerous enemies. Keep an eye on the max ammo drops after each phase, as you’ll need to refill before the later fights.
Phase 5 & 6: Heavy Zombies Holding Artifacts
At this point, instead of targeting floating artifacts, you must hunt down a Heavy Zombie carrying an artifact. These zombies are tougher than usual and need to be eliminated quickly. Once the Heavy Zombie is killed, it drops an artifact, which must be destroyed before it can trigger its next attack.
This phase requires quick target prioritization. While dodging lasers from the remaining Sentinel Artifacts, focus fire on the Heavy Zombie as soon as it spawns. Destroy the dropped artifact immediately to progress. Another Heavy Zombie with an artifact follows in the next phase, repeating the same process.
Phase 7: The Supercharged Doppelgast
A red Doppelgast now enters the fight, and this enemy is extremely dangerous. If you don’t have Juggernog, it can one-shot you even at full HP and armor. The only way to deal with it is immediate burst damage—the longer it stays alive, the greater the chance of losing teammates.
As soon as it spawns, dump all firepower into it. Once it is defeated, it drops another Sentinel Artifact, which must be destroyed like before.
Phase 8 & 9: Supercharged Mimic and Amalgam
These phases introduce enhanced elite enemies. First, a supercharged Mimic spawns, followed by a supercharged Amalgam in the next phase. Both enemies have massive health pools and deal high damage.
During these waves, players should make use of:
- Casimir Grenades to slow down enemies.
- Ether Shroud to reposition safely.
- Dead Wire Ammo Mod (especially with Big Game) to handle elites more efficiently.
Destroy the artifact dropped by each boss to move forward.
Final Phase: The Central Sentinel Artifact
The last phase is a do-or-die moment. The remaining Sentinel Artifacts form a semicircle, and one central artifact begins moving backward. The entire team must focus all DPS on this central artifact before it reaches the end of the semicircle. Failing to destroy it in time results in a full team wipe and a failed Easter Egg.
This phase requires maximum coordination and firepower. Use:
- Idol Eyes to stall zombies.
- Ether Shroud to prevent being overwhelmed.
- Casimir Grenades if available.
- Full team DPS focus on the central artifact.
If successful, the final artifact shatters and the boss fight concludes. Interacting with the Sentinel Artifact in the center triggers the final cutscene, marking the completion of The Tomb Easter Egg.
Conclusion
The Tomb map for CoD BO6 Zombies is pretty compact, but its difficulty quickly escalates the faster you go through the rounds. As for the main quest, it’s not overly complex, and the only thing that is a real head-scratcher is the symbols on the constellations that you need to shoot in the correct order when you build the Ice Staff. Other than that, the steps aren’t super difficult. They’re easy to memorize and follow through.
The boss fight, however, contains a dozen phases, which is pretty interesting. It’s clear that this is the main challenge in this map. While you can almost speedrun The Tomb up to this point, defeating the Sentinel Artifact could take several attempts. So, just make sure that everyone on your team has max armor, max pack-a-punch weapons, and a few wonder weapons.
