Nerub'ar Palace Overview

Starting our Nerub'ar Palace overview, this raid will become the first seasonal endgame activity after The War Within launches. Apart from testing players’ skills, it also tells us the storyline of the Nerubian Empire. Inside this instance, you will also learn more about Queen Ansurek, the Nerubian leader, and get a chance to fight her.

Being the last boss of the raid, Queen Ansurek is ready to destroy everyone who stands in her way. Thanks to the evolutionary alliance with Xal'atath, the Harbinger, the Nerubians are as strong as ever. Will you be able to tackle them down?

Nerub'ar Palace Location

Azj-Kahet is the Nerub'ar Palace location and one of the new areas added within this expansion. This zone features webbed-like structures and suspended architecture. Players can see webs everywhere scattered around when exploring it. This area is also known as the City of Threads and is built in a terrace-like structure.

Below, we have shared the Nerub'ar Palace map so that you know what it is all about there:

The Nerubian city is split into several sub-zones. Wealthy Nerubians live in higher terraces, while poor ones live hand-to-mouth in The Burrows.

This covers everything we know so far about the raid’s location. As we discover the exact Nerub'ar Palace entrance, we will update this part of the article.

Nerub'ar Palace Bosses

Ulgrax the Devourer Strategy

Starting our WoW Nerub'ar Palace walkthrough, we would like to provide you with a deeper Ulgrax the Devourer strategy. First of all, let’s look at how the devs describe the very first boss we are going to witness in this raid.

Consumed by unending hunger, Ulgrax fiercely guards Queen Ansurek's court.

That does not tell us much, does it? However, we already know what Ulgrax the Devourer abilities you should be prepared for in the game:

Ul'grax tries to eat players with his Voracious Hunger ability and spreads pools of Stalker Netting using Stalker's Webbing across the arena. When he reaches zero energy, Ul'grax becomes frenzied with hunger, accumulating Insatiable Rage until his energy returns to 100.

Damage Dealers Players caught in Stalker Netting get rooted. Ravenous Spawn keeps applying Disembowel to players.
Healers Removing Digestive Venom hurts nearby allies a lot. Ul'grax's damage rises with each Insatiable Rage stack.
Tanks Ravenous Spawn keeps hitting players with Disembowel. Work with a teammate to handle Tenderized debuffs.

Once we learn more about the first boss you encounter, we will update our Nerub'ar Palace raid walkthrough to provide you with further details.

The Bloodbound Horror Strategy

As you keep moving through WoW the War Within Nerub'ar Palace, you will encounter the second boss – The Bloodbound Horror. The following part of the guide provides a detailed strategy for this particular encounter based on what we know so far. Starting with how the devs describe this boss, here is what we have:

In the shadowy depths beneath Nerub'ar Palace, the blood of the Old Gods forms dark, black pools. From this wicked slime emerges the Bloodbound Horror, pulling everything into The Unseeming.

Now, let’s take a look at the Bloodbound Horror abilities listed below. The entire fight consists of two Phases, each featuring different mechanics.

Phase 1: The Black Blood

Once Phase 2 starts, be ready to deal with the many mobs that spawn to help the Bloodbound Horror.

Lost Watcher:

Forgotten Harbinger:

Blood Horror:

That is everything we know about the second boss awaiting us in the Nerub'ar Palace raid. Stay tuned to discover a detailed strategy later on, as we update the article.

Sikran, Captain of the Sureki Strategy

Sikran is the third boss we encounter within Nerub'ar Palace. Here, you can find the detailed Sikran, Captain of the Sureki strategy. From the boss’s abilities to his intricate mechanics, we have you covered. Before this, let’s take a look at how the devs describe this enemy.

Born into nobility, Sikran rose as a haughty duelist in Queen Ansurek's court. Without ever facing the edge of an opponent's blade, he defeated his rivals one by one and was hailed as Captain of the Sureki by the queen. Now, this unstoppable warrior ensures that any who dare challenge the throne are swiftly vanquished.

Judging by the description, we expect him to be a powerful duelist to face off against. Here is a list of Sikran abilities for you to get prepared for.

A set of Sikran skills changes depending on the weapon used. When he wields Dual Swords, they are as follows:

When Sikran is using Polearm, the set of abilities looks the following way:

That is everything we know about Sikran and his set of abilities as of right now. Make sure to come back later to find more concerning this encounter.

Rasha'nan Strategy

The fourth boss you are to face off against in the Nerub'ar Palace raid is Rasha'nan. While this is a 1-phase encounter, you need to be ready for a fierce fight here. In this part of the guide, we break down the Rasha'nan strategy, as well as his abilities and general mechanics.

Before jumping straight to Rasha'nan abilities, let’s take a closer look at how this enemy is described by the devs themselves.

Altered by Queen Ansurek's experiments, Rasha'nan morphed from a proud Nerubian into a monstrous, winged horror. Trapped within this new form, fragmented memories of her past self fuel Rasha'nan's insatiable rage.

Injured during the events of The Dawnbreaker, Rasha'nan sought refuge in Nerub'ar Palace, entering the encounter with reduced health. As the battle unfolds, she shifts position within the arena, bombarding players from above with Caustic Rain.

Damage Dealers Watch out for Rolling Acid, which moves in a specific direction, damaging and pushing players away. Destroy Sticky Webs quickly to prevent them from turning into Acid Pools. When affected by Spinneret's Strands, be careful when pulling out your tether from Sticky Webs to avoid triggering Spinneret's Websnap.
Healers Keep an eye on Rolling Acid, as it damages and pushes players in its path. Dispose of Sticky Webs promptly to prevent them from transforming into Acid Pools. Be prepared to heal players affected by Spinneret's Strands when they remove their tether from Sticky Webs to avoid triggering Spinneret's Websnap.
Tanks Be wary of Rolling Acid, which inflicts damage and pushes players away as it moves. Destroy Sticky Webs swiftly to prevent them from becoming Acid Pools. Exercise caution when removing your tether from Sticky Webs if you are afflicted by Spinneret's Strands to avoid triggering Spinneret's Websnap.

The main thing to keep in mind is to get rid of Sticky Webs before it transforms into Acid Pools. This is what we are mentioning for players of all roles.

Eggtender Ovi'nax Strategy

Eggtender Ovi'nax is the fifth boss you will encounter when progressing through the Nerub'ar Palace raid. Just like the previous fight, this one consists of a single phase. However, it is going to test your Tanks’ prowess. They should be aware of Volatile Concoction, but we will get to that further in this part of the guide.

Before moving to Eggtender Ovi'nax abilities, let’s see how the devs describe this enemy.

In the depths of the queen's palace, Eggtender Ovi'nax conducts horrific experiments with the dark blood from Azj-Kahet. This monstrous figure wanders through the cavernous depths of the palace, spewing inky sludge onto hatchlings to study its ghastly effects.

Throughout the fight, you will also encounter Colossal Spider, featuring the following abilities.

Apart from the boss’s main abilities, you should also be aware of Voracious Worm. The latter features a separate set of skills you can read about below.

Finally, you will have to take down Blood Parasite as well with the following abilities.

Below are a few tips and tricks for how to behave in a fight, depending on your role.

Damage Dealers Stay vigilant for Black Blood Burst, which triggers nearby eggs to hatch and release dangerous experiments. Be cautious of Unstable Web, which roots players when dispelled, and use crowd control to prevent Blood Parasites from multiplying.
Healers Keep an eye out for Black Blood Burst, as it causes nearby eggs to hatch and unleash experiments. Watch Eggtender Ovi'nax closely, as his Shadow damage and healing absorbs increase with each Black Blood Infusion. Prioritize healing tanks affected by Volatile Concoction to mitigate heavy raid damage.
Tanks Manage Volatile Concoction carefully, as it deals damage to the raid based on your missing health when it expires. Be wary of Black Blood Overflow, which causes eggs to hatch and mutates creatures it touches. Additionally, Colossal Spiders' Vicious Bite inflicts escalating damage, so stay prepared.

As you can see, Volatile Concoction can be fatal for your Tanks if they are not healed timely. Once this spell expires, it deals damage based on the target’s missing health. This number can be different. In most cases, your Tanks’ HP should not be lower than 75% with this debuff active. Otherwise, you take huge risks and can wipe easily if your Tank dies. BLOG20

Nexus-Princess Ky'veza

Nexus-Princess Ky'veza is the sixth boss you will have to take down in Nerub'ar Palace. The fight consists of 2 Phases, each presenting its own mechanics and difficulties. You will also encounter various abilities, depending on what stage you are going through.

Before getting to Nexus-Princess Ky'veza abilities, let’s see how the devs describe this boss.

Nexus-Princess Ky'veza has recently arrived at Nerub-ar Palace, swiftly earning the trust of Queen Ansurek as her confidante. Yet, whispers within the inner court suggest that she may conceal a sinister and lethal secret. Should her secret be uncovered, the princess stands ready to eliminate all witnesses without hesitation.

During Phase 2, you should be prepared for the following abilities:

Check out a few tips we have prepared to help you fight this boss more efficiently. Depending on your role, you should be aware of this.

Damage Dealers Watch out for Assassination, which spawns Nether Phantoms mimicking Ky'veza's abilities. Avoid being pulled into a Nether Rift to prevent being Atomized. Be vigilant for Reaper, which targets players with low health for execution.
Healers Be prepared for Reaper, which targets players with low health for execution. Keep an eye out for Assassination, which spawns Nether Phantoms mimicking Ky'veza's abilities. Prevent players from being pulled into Nether Rifts to avoid them being Atomized.
Tanks Be mindful of Chasmal Gash, which increases damage taken from Void Shredders. Avoid being pulled into Nether Rifts to prevent being Atomized. Watch out for Reaper, which targets players with low health for execution.

Reaper can be the main reason for your group getting wiped. Healers should be mindful of keeping their party members healed enough. Otherwise, this ability can easily execute a low-HP target.

The Silken Court Strategy

The Silken Court is the seventh boss you encounter within the Nerub'ar Palace raid. This time, you should be prepared for as many as 3 Phases. Your two main enemies are Anub'arash and Skeinspinner Takazj. Depending on the stage, they will feature different abilities we are going to talk about further.

This is what we know about the encounter from the devs’ description.

Scarab Lord Anub'arash and Skeinspinner Takazj stand as Queen Ansurek's esteemed advisors, yet beneath their facade of loyalty lies a deep-seated animosity toward each other. Despite their formidable power unleashed upon their enemies, their primary aim is to ensure the demise of their rival rather than securing the throne's safety.

Phase 1 Anub'arash Abilities:

Phase 1 Skeinspinner Takazj Abilities:

Transition Phase:

Phase 2 Skeinspinner Takazj Abilities:

Transition Phase:

Phase 3 Anub'arash Abilities:

This is everything we know about the Silken Court encounter for now. Come back later to find out the latest details once we update the article.

Queen Ansurek Strategy

Congratulations, you have finally made it to the Queen Ansurek strategy section. She is the eighth and final boss you will face off against in the Nerub'ar Palace raid. Be prepared for a fierce 3-phase fight with an exciting intermission between them.

First, let’s have a look at how the devs’ describe this encounter.

Following a startling revelation of traitors within her court, Queen Ansurek resolves to purge the invaders from her palace personally. However, consumed by paranoia and plagued by doubts about whom she can trust, she finds herself descending into darkness. With her circle of allies shrinking, Queen Ansurek contemplates tapping into forbidden powers to secure victory, even if it means her most loyal soldiers become unwitting sacrifices.

Now, we will break down Queen Ansurek abilities you should be prepared for within each phase.

Phase 1: A Queen’s Venom

Intermission: The Spider’s Web

Phase 2: Royal Ascension

During this stage, you will face numerous enemies apart from Queen Ansurek herself. Their abilities are also mentioned in the list below.

Queen Ansurek Abilities:

Ascended Voidspeaker Abilities:

Devoted Worshipper Abilities:

Chamber Guardian:

Chamber Expeller:

Phase 3: Paranoia’s Feast

As the battle commences, Ansurek expels Reactive Froth and endeavors to detonate it with Venom Nova. Over time, she seeks to siphon the life force of weakened foes with Predation. Upon players breaking her web shield, Ansurek begins ascending to her secluded chamber and summons reinforcements. They ready themselves to unleash Cosmic Resonance while Ansurek strikes from a distance. Upon breaching her private chamber, Ansurek ceases casting Acidic Resonance and initiates Aphotic Communion. Empowered by cosmic forces, Ansurek aims to consume the Acolyte's Essence with Frothing Gluttony. BLOG20

Below, you can also find a few tips and tricks concerning how to behave when executing this or that role in a raid group.

Damage Dealers Prioritize defeating Devoted Worshippers to prevent them from casting Cosmic Resonance. Intercept Gloom Hatchlings before they reach Ansurek to avoid lethal damage. Be prepared for Reaction Vapor when Venom Nova destroys Reactive Froth, and handle Froth Vapor carefully when Frothing Gluttony absorbs Acolyte's Essence.
Healers Focus on healing through Feast's absorption effect. Counteract the increased damage from Predation Threads and Wrest caused by Paralyzing Venom. Swiftly dispel Gloom Touch to mitigate its damage. Keep an eye on Acrid Presence and Dreadful Presence, which steadily damage all players.
Tanks Mitigate the large burst of damage from Liquefy to protect the raid. Handle Feast's absorption effect carefully to ensure sufficient healing. Control Infest to prevent Gloom Hatchlings from reaching Ansurek and causing lethal damage. Be prepared for Gorge's bursts of damage, mitigating as much as possible.

Tanks should be especially careful when experiencing the Feast debuff. The latter drastically reduces the amount of healing you receive. Therefore, if you start tanking too hard, you might get wiped because your Healer will not be able to save you.
