Dungeons (Item Level 554-593)

Depending on the difficulty, dungeons offer rewards of the following levels:

• Normal – ilvl 554 (cannot be upgraded).
• Heroic – ilvl 580.
• Mythic – ilvl 593.

Each week, players can select one item from the unlocked options. This system provides a way to earn higher-level gear and rewards based on a player's in-game achievements over the week.

Delves (Item Level 574)

In Khaz Algar, you can find the following activities rewarding items of level 584-587:

• Each week, two locations will have two active calls, requiring the completion of 3 local quests. The reward is a chest containing an item of level 571.
  
  • Completing three local quests will unlock an elite local quest. It's more challenging but offers a better reward: an item of level 587.
• Repeating world events – Alliance with the Severed Threads, the Theater Troupe, Spread of Light, and Awakening the Machine. As with Dragonflight's public events, the first completion provides a stronger item, with subsequent completions offering lower-level items.
• Weekly quests. Unlike Dragonflight, where the quest theme was fixed, in The War Within, you can choose between dungeons, Delves, local quests, etc.

Most chests you encounter will also contain currency needed for item upgrades. Initially, it's wise to save this currency rather than spend it immediately.

Note: The first two weekly chests will guarantee an item for a random gear slot.

Faction Reputation (Item Level 467-597)

Faction rewards also include currency for item upgrades, making renown farming beneficial for all players.

Professions (Item Level 515-593)

Professions have also been there as an additional source of high ilvl gear, but they’ve always been considered a stepping stone. Profession experts can craft two types of gear:

• Rare items – Item Level 515-545
• Epic items – Item Level 593

Additionally, scribes will have Darkmoon Deck cards that can be exchanged for a trinket of item level 577. These cards could be obtained by crafting Bundle O' Cards: Dragon Isles using inscription. However, in the latest versions of the game, these cards can only be obtained as the world rop or through fishing.

World Boss and Rare Elite Monsters (Item Level 577-603)

World bosses are the source of the next tier of high ilvl items. So far, there’s a total 4 bosses that you can tackle:

1. Kordac, the Dormant Protector
2. Aggregation of Horrors
3. Shurrai, Atrocity of the Undersea
4. Orta, the Broken Mountain

They all share a loot table, with a few items being exclusive to each of the bosses.

• World bosses drop items of item level 603.
• Elite monsters drop items of item level 577.

Elite monsters can be found all over the War Within locations. Keep your eyes peeled for monsters with a special portrait; that’s how you know the monster is elite!

Nerub'ar Palace Raid (Item Level 584-639)

Nerub'ar Palace is the first raid in the War Within. It is a complex instance with 8 boss encounters. Do not attempt it unless you have the best pre-raid gear you can find. It is also one of the best gear upgrade ways the War Within you can think of. It’s the only place in the game where you can get ilvl 639 gear.

The item level in the Nerub'ar Palace raid depends on the difficulty:

• Raid Finder – 584 to 593 (600 for extremely rare items).
• Normal – 597 to 606 (613 for extremely rare items).
• Heroic – 610 to 619 (626 for extremely rare items).
• Mythic – 623 to 632 (639 for extremely rare items).

Raids also count towards Great Vault progress (defeating 2/4/6 bosses). Additionally, a catalyst will be available to upgrade "normal" items to set pieces.
