General WoW PvP Strategy
Choosing a class or specialization from the S-Tier does not guarantee success. You still need to master its abilities, learn to communicate and work together with your team, and so on. If you only begin your journey through a challenging world of PvP battles, you need a reliable WoW PvP strategy to rely on. So, we have prepared the most essential PvP tips you can use to excel in any battle and understand this type of game content better:
- Communication and Coordination. PvP is a team effort, and effective communication with your teammates is vital. Coordinate your actions, share information about enemy positions, and plan your strategies together. Utilize voice chat or in-game communication tools to stay connected and make split-second decisions as a cohesive unit;
- Awareness and Positioning. Pay close attention to your surroundings and maintain situational awareness at all times. Understand the terrain, map objectives, and potential ambush points. Position yourself strategically to control advantageous locations, exploit line of sight to your advantage, and set up deadly traps for unsuspecting foes;
- Crowd Control and Disruption. Master the art of crowd control (CC) to control and neutralize enemy players. Stuns, silences, snares, and interrupts are valuable tools that can disrupt enemy strategies and turn the tide of battle. Coordinate your CC abilities with your teammates to lock down high-priority targets and gain a significant advantage;
- Burst and Coordinated Damage. Timing is crucial when it comes to dealing burst damage. Coordinate your offensive cooldowns with your teammates to unleash devastating blows on a single target, overwhelming them with a flurry of powerful abilities. Focus fire on vulnerable opponents to quickly eliminate them and gain a numerical advantage;
- Defensive Techniques. PvP is not just about dealing damage – it is also about surviving and mitigating incoming threats. Properly utilize defensive abilities, crowd control breaks, and self-healing to withstand enemy assaults. Communication with healers or utilizing defensive cooldowns at the right time can prolong your survivability and give your team a fighting chance;
- Adaptability and Flexibility. PvP encounters are dynamic and ever-changing. Be prepared to adapt your strategies on the fly, adjust your target priorities, and switch tactics based on the situation. Anticipate enemy movements, respond quickly to emerging threats, and make necessary adjustments to outmaneuver your opponents;
- Understanding Class Abilities and Counters. Familiarize yourself with the abilities, strengths, and weaknesses of different classes. Knowing your enemy's toolkit will allow you to anticipate their moves and effectively counter their strategies. Additionally, stay updated with balance changes and patch notes to adjust your PvP strategies accordingly.
Remember, practice makes perfect. Take the time to hone your PvP skills, learn from your experiences, and analyze your successes and failures. By implementing these general PvP tips and constantly refining your gameplay, you will excel in this type of content for sure. Always keep in mind the fact that winning a PvP combat is something more than just playing a strong class from our PvP tier list Dragonflight.
If you decide to test your skills in slaying mobs again, you would probably choose dungeon runs to begin with. With the start of Season 2 in Dragonflight, this PvE activity is popular as never before. However, if you cannot complete a particular keystone, you can always buy our Mythic Carry services. Our professional players will gladly help with that. We offer the best market price and guarantee the result.
How Our WoW Tier List PvP Works
To make things easier for you, we are going to use a default ranking system where all the in-game specializations are divided into tiers. Starting from the strongest specs, they are placed in S-Tier and ending up with the weakest ones, which are placed in D-Tier. This will give you a deep understanding of what specializations are the most powerful. However, this does not mean you can choose a particular spec from the highest bracket and win every PvP battle.
Your success still depends on many factors such as your teamwork, knowledge of your spells and abilities, and so on. At the same time, if you see your favorite spec sitting in D-Tier, this does not mean it is not playable in PvP. If you are a true master of a particular specialization, you will still perform well enough when playing it in any PvP mode. It will just require a bit more effort and that is it.
Finally, remember that there is no best PvP class WoW 2023, as the game is constantly changing. The developers do their best to release frequent patches to buff and nerf specs, which deserve this. Therefore, we are going to edit our WoW PvP guide and change the PvP tier list Dragonflight accordingly. If you are looking for a new specialization to master, you can check our WoW Class Guides section and pick up the one you like. By reading these articles, you will master the chosen spec in a blink of an eye whether you are a fan of PvP or PvE content.
Best PvP Classes WoW Dragonflight
In the following section of the article, you will find all the specializations distributed in a certain tier bracket. We have also dived them according to what in-game roles they execute:
- Damage Dealers;
- Tanks;
- Healers.
It is also important to note that we have divided all the specs according to different PvP modes. It is a necessary measure, as their performance can vary depending on what mode you are playing. The complete list of all PvP modes available in World of Warcraft is as follows:
- Arena 2v2;
- Arena 3v3/Solo Shuffle;
- Rated Battlegrounds (RBG).
Let us remind you once again, seeing your favorite spec sitting in a lower tier than you expected does not mean it is bad. It just means that it lacks a buff or has been recently nerfed. Things can change in a future patch when the game developers decide to rebalance specs once again. So, stay tuned and do not forget to check our WoW PvP guide from time to time.

Moreover, these tables will not be similar to what you have just seen if we are talking about Raiding. This type of PvE content requires an absolutely different approach when we are rating the specs. Dragonflight PvP Gearing Guide Season 2
With the beginning of Season 2, players have seen some major changes concerning the gearing process in PvP. This part of our article shares everything you need to know about the way gear works in Season 2. We will also share a few tips on how to gear up quickly for PvP battles. Starting with the types of PvP gear, they are as follows:
- Crafted PvP Gear – 424 PvP ilvl;
- Honor Gear – 437 PvP ilvl;
- Conquest Gear – 450 PvP ilvl;
- Blue-Quality War Mode Gear – 434 PvP ilvl;
- Epic-Quality War Mode Gear – 447 PvP ilvl.
The newly-implemented type of equipment is called Scalewarden gear. The latter was added to the game with the start of Season 2, May 9th. The blue-quality alternative is sold for Bloody Tokens and can be bought from Malicia in Gladiator’s Refuge. It is also upgradeable up to the Epic-quality level. This can be done with Trophy of Strife, which is obtained by completing the Sparks of Life weekly quests.
We have also prepared a short PvP gearing guide specifically for Season 2:
- Complete weekly PvP quests;
- Buy Auction House Crafted Gear before entering your first PvP battles;
- Grind Honor as much as possible since achieving the 15,000 cap is almost impossible;
- Complete PvP objectives to add extra items to your Great Vault on a weekly basis;
- Grind Conquest to get your hands on higher-level PvP gear.
Honor Gear Explained
In most cases, you will see players wearing honor gear, which is purchased for the Honor currency. You can also use this currency to upgrade this type of equipment further. However, it will only increase the item’s actual ilvl, not PvP ilvl. No WoW best PvP class can survive without having this gear. As a rule, you want to get your hands on this type of equipment ASAP or it will be extremely difficult for you to progress in Rated matches.
To make things clear, let us provide you with an example. The actual ilvl of this gear type is 366 yet its PvP ilvl is 437. By upgrading this equipment, you will increase it from 366 to 372, for example. Though its 437 PvP ilvl will always remain the same. To upgrade your PvP gear, head to Corxian in Valdrakken.
Down below, we have prepared a table containing all the details concerning the upgrade cost of this gear type.
Equipment Slot | Initial Cost (ilvl 366) | Rank 2 (ilvl 372) | Rank 3 (ilvl 379) | Rank 4 (ilvl 385) | Rank 5 (ilvl 392) |
Helm, Chest, Legs | x875 Honor | x500 Honor | x625 Honor | x1,000 Honor | x1,250 Honor |
Shoulders, Gloves, Feet | x700 Honor | x400 Honor | x500 Honor | x800 Honor | x1,000 Honor |
Cloaks, Bracers, Rings, and Belt | x525 Honor | x300 Honor | x400 Honor | x600 Honor | x750 Honor |
One-Handed Weapons | x875 Honor | x500 Honor | x625 Honor | x1,000 Honor | x1,250 Honor |
Trinkets (Gladiator/DPS) | x525/700 Honor | x300/400 Honor | x375/500 Honor | x600/800 Honor | x750/1,000 Honor |
Two-Handed Weapons | x1,750 Honor | x1,000 Honor | x1,250 Honor | x2,000 Honor | x2,500 Honor |
Off-Hands | x425 Honor | x250 Honor | x300 Honor | x500 Honor | x625 Honor |
Conquest Gear Explained
This type of equipment is quite similar to the previous one. Nonetheless, it is much more powerful and features a higher ilvl. Its actual ilvl starts at 408 and can be upgraded further by spending the Honor currency. Just like before, upgrading it only increases its actual ilvl, not the PvP one. The latter always remains at the marker of 450.
To obtain this gear type, you need to earn Conquest. Once you have enough of it, speak to Calderax in Valdrakken.
Down below, you can find information on how many Conquest points you need to have to buy a particular item:
- Helm, Chest, and Legs cost x875 Conquest;
- Shoulders, Gloves, and Feet cost x700 Conquest;
- Cloaks, Bracers, Rings, and Belt cost x500 Conquest;
- One-Hand weapons cost x900-1,350 Conquest;
- Off-Hands cost x450 Conquest;
- Two-Hand weapons cost x1800 Conquest;
- Trinkets (Gladiator/DPS) cost x525/700 Conquest.
This currency is earned through any PvP-related activities, no matter if they are Rated or Unrated. However, you need to win a battle to be rewarded with Conquest. If you lose, you gain Honor instead. The Season 2 Conquest cap is set at 750 starting from May 9th and is increased every week by 750 accordingly.
Elite Conquest Gear Explained
If you manage to climb as high as 2,400 rating while participating in PvP-related activities, you can get your hands on unique cosmetic items. For this, you need to talk to Glamora in Valdrakken. To buy these items, you will need Mark of Honor.
However, getting to this rating is quite challenging. If you are looking for an easier way to obtain unique gear, you can use our PvP Elite Transmog Boost service. Our professional players will help you get to 1800 rating points, earn the Rival I title, and more. All that comes at the best market price and the result is guaranteed.
WoW Arena Overview
Earlier in our PvP guide, you learned what top arena classes WoW are. Now, it is time to get acquainted with the basics of this game mode. As you already know, you can participate in 2v2 or 3v3 Arena battles. In most cases, players take part in 3v3 fights, as they are more exciting and grant higher rewards. However, no matter what Arena mode you choose, you will have the following ranks to go through. They also apply to the Solo Shuffle mode:
- Unranked – 0-1000;
- Combatant I – 1000-1200;
- Combatant II – 1200-1400;
- Challenger I – 1400-1600;
- Challenger II – 1600-1800;
- Rival I – 1800-1950;
- Rival II – 1950-2100;
- Duelist – 2100-2400;
- Elite – 2400+.
When playing Arena, you will fight on instanced zones. Down below, you can find a table containing all Dragonflight Arena zones.
Pool A | Pool B | Pool C |
Nagrand Arena | Nagrand Arena | Nagrand Arena |
Dalaran Sewers | Ruins of Lordaeron | Hook Point |
Tiger’s Peak | Tiger’s Peak | Tol’Viron Arena |
Enigma Crucible | Empyrean Domain | Ashamane’s Fall |
Empyrean Domain | Blade’s Edge Arena | The Robodrome |
Ashamane’s Fall | Maldraxxus Coliseum | Mugambala |
Maldraxxus Coliseum | Black Rook Hold Arena | Enigma Crucible |
Nokhudon Proving Grounds | Nokhudon Proving Grounds | Nokhudon Proving Grounds |
WoW Solo Shuffle Overview
As we stated earlier, Solo Shuffle is quite similar to Arena. The only major difference is that you do need a team to participate in this mode. You can queue in it when playing solo yet you will still have a team of random people to fight other players.
After your Solo Shuffle match is found, you will join a group of 6 people. There always must be 2 healers and 4 damage dealers in it. At the end of each round, the system shuffles two teams and you start another fight having a different composition of players. The battle ends after 6 rounds.
Unlike in Shadowlands, Solo Shuffle can be played in the Rated mode in Dragonflight. It means you can earn extra Conquest points, unlock achievements, and earn unique PvP titles.
WoW Rated Battlegrounds Overview
The two previous PvP modes we have just discussed are aimed at short and fast-paced encounters. If you are looking for a serious challenge, you should give Rated Battlegrounds (RBG) a shot. The latter represents a massive battle where you will be a part of a large team consisting of 10 people or more.
There is also an option to participate in Unrated Battlegrounds, but your rewards will not be that impressive. Taking part in RBG gives you a chance to earn Conquest and ilvl 424 PvP gear. Finally, you can get your hands on a unique mount and unlock a range of special achievements.
